The purpose of this study is to suggest an improvement plan for the waterfront by conducting an empirical analysis of users of the city`s waterfront. For this purpose, this study conducted a field investigation and questionnaire survey on the waterfront of Sincheon, Daegu Metropolitan City. Based on this, this study investigated the importance and satisfaction levels of environmental factors according to the purpose of using the waterfront and proposed the improvement plans through an ISA(Importance-Satisfaction Analysis). The analysis results are as follows. In the case of using the waterfront for exercise, `The division of bicycle trails and promenades` had the highest level of importance, while satisfaction level for items with `Convenience facilities such as vending machines, toilets and water fountains` was found to be the lowest. In the case of using the waterfront for leisure and relaxation, `Tree shade` had the highest level of importance, and the satisfaction level of the item on `Whether to hold events such as exhibitions` was lowest. The ISA results showed that when the waterfront was used for the purpose of exercise, leisure and relaxation, items such as `Convenience facilities such as vending machines, toilets and water fountains`, `Cleanliness of space and water quality` and `Water quality management` had a high level of importance, but had a low level of satisfaction, which suggests that they should be improved on a preferential basis. Next, items requiring intensive improvement for exercise purposes were `Tree shade`, `Rest facilities such as benches and pergolas`, `Width of bicycle trails and promenades` and `The division of bicycle trails and promenades`. Leisure and relaxation found that `Lighting facilities` require improvement. It is expected that if a river improvement project is implemented based on the above results, effective financial commitment and investment will be made.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of neighborhood environmental perception on park use for health. The study area is focused on neighborhood parks in Suseong-gu, Daegu city. The analysis results are based on questionnaires of 303 respondents. According to the results, park use for health improvement was significantly associated with the perceptions of accessibility to a marketplace, availability of public transit, accessibility to the park, enough sidewalks, number of crosswalks, and athletic population. The probability of park use increased by 2.326 times as the satisfaction of accessibility to the park increased. Also, greater athletic population, fewer crosswalks, and more sidewalks lead to increase of park use by 1.701, 1.617, and 1.642 times, respectively. Therefore, it is important to increase the available neighborhood parks around residences and to develop exercise programs that people can use continuously in order to vitalize park use for health improvement. Also, it is necessary to improve the convenience of walking such as development of pedestrian streets or malls between residences and parks.

First, in the result of the analysis of the distribution characteristics of the park's main thermal environment factors and differences among types of space, temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed did not show a clear difference spatially. However, the median radiant temperature showed great differences according to the openness of the space and the covering material. According to the evaluation of thermal comfort by types of space based on derived thermal environmental factors, the PMV value of the square was the highest at 4.39, the paths showed 2.58, greenery 1.90, and resting spaces 0.42. In the result of the PMV regression model established for the evaluation of the significance of these thermal environment factors that decide thermal comfort, it showed that the relative significance to the PMV was as follows in decreasing order: median radiant temperature(1.084), wind speed(-0.280), temperature(0.013), and relative humidity(-0.009). When conducting a scenario analysis on the areas with need for improvement in thermal environment, it was found that through reflectivity, color and the change in the physical properties of packing materials the thermal comfort felt by the body could be improved, and it is believed that through this the improvement plan can be established.

Urban sprawl has been the limits of traffic accommodate and the supply road. Thus, Light Rail Transit(LRT) has been proposed as the best alternative. Owing to landscape damage from construction of LRT, landscape planning should be considered seriously in the urban planning step. This paper therefore seeks to determine landscape improvement direction of LRT pier. First, the methods in this study shared landscape improvement direction type of LRT pier through previous studies such as planting of surface(30%, 60%, 90% planting of surface), graphic(character, commercial advertising, symbol), and surface treatment type(exposed concrete, white painting, pattern dies). Next, respondent evaluated 3D simulated landscape image accordingly shared types by preference and landscape adjectives using in streetscape evaluation. As a result, visual preference was the highest in planting type of surface and the lowest in the surface treatment type. Covering 60%(4.48) in planting type of surface was the highest. Because it is similar to the golden ratio considering the visual principle, we will need to take advantage through the result of this paper. Also, most landscape improvement direction which satisfied with significant level showed a positive effect from landscape improvement. Comprehensively based on these results, it suggests desirable landscape improvement direction of LRT pier in the city for solution of landscape inhibition problem.

Recently, the location of urban parks has become more important in terms of the construction of an environment-friendly, sustainable city. To build a refined and desirable urban park, it is necessary to have precise understanding on the evaluation of supply adequacy and selection method for its location. However, there have been few studies on the spatial imbalance and location plan of urban parks. Therefore, this study has attempted to evaluate the spatial imbalance of urban parks in Hwanggeum-dong, Suseong-gu in Daegu and propose a policy suggestion to solve the imbalance. According to the analysis, Hwanggeum 1-dong and 2-dong recorded 943.08/GRID and 380.61/GRID, respectively, in terms of legal requirements for urban parks and 406,730.80 and 157,086.40 in terms of total service supply from two neighborhood parks and four children`s parks. According to the evaluation of optimal supply area across Hwanggeum-dong, Hwanggeum 1-dong and 2-dong recorded 12.3% and 51.5%, respectively. In an evaluation of the supply adequacy of urban parks, the areas described as `very satisfying` were 20.5% and 5.4% in Hwanggeum 1-dong and 2-dong, respectively. On the contrary, the areas described as `very dissatisfying` accounted for 27.6% and 10.8%, respectively, in the two regions. It appears that additional parks should be developed in the inferior areas in terms of urban parks in consideration of various factors such as area and shape. The results of the supply adequacy evaluation will be used as a tool to figure out and solve problems in the location of urban parks and as basic data for a master plan to build an environment-friendly, sustainable city.

This study furnishes basis data for plan foundation and proper valuation of view by presenting objective and concrete selection standards and ways of Landscape Control Point(LCP) on valuation of development projects. To sum up the results of study, it establishes the prospect, publicity and direction of view as a selection standard LCP on precedent studies. The prospect, which includes visual range, direction of view, geographical features, and visibility, sets up as a valuation basis picking out the available places which have alterations according to direction and distance in practice. In the case of publicity, to select the place as there presentative area where public activities often happen than others, thirteen evaluation indexes including administration facilities, educational facilities, commercial facilities and so on. And variation of landscape is set up as an assessment index to know how much the land has changed from the beginning to the end of development. To apply the selection standards to sample places, the preliminary LCP is founded by analyzing both the prospect and published; a series of courses for selecting the final LCP is founded by analyzing the preliminary LCP and variableness of landscape on a basic of placed which have many alterations of view. At last, in the case of a selection system for LCP, the preliminary LCP is founded by analyzing both the prospect and publicity; a series of courses for selecting the final LCP is found by analyzing the preliminary LCP and variableness of landscape. Applying selection standards and the assessment index to the Sam-deok 3 residence improvement area, in the case of prospect, the southern distant view area has the largest extent. Next, the results of the assessment using the system of publicity show that a five-lane road is taking up the largest area. Hence, a total of 48 preliminary LCPs are set up by analyzing both the prospect and publicity. The results of analyzing landscape variation, one of the valuation indexes, show that Sam-deok dong around the post office has the highest rate of variation at 28.07%. Finally, three LCPs in each part, which are close range, middle range and distance view, are selected; thus, a total of nine LCPs are selected. The selected LCPs that go through a series of practical courses like a GIS program have a lot of professional opinions and are expected to secure objectivity of landscape assessment.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the water pollution degree in the Mid-Nakdong River watershed regarding to landcover types using GIS method. As a result of landcover classification, rate of urban appeared highly on Daegu Metropolitan city. Also, rate of agriculture showed highly in the riparian zones of the Nakdong and Guemho River and rate of forest appeared highly in the borders of the study area. To identify the groups of watershed with similar landcover patterns using the Cluster Analysis. According to the cluster analysis, the fifty sub-watersheds were grouped in three clusters, 'Urban watershed', 'Agriculture watershed', 'Forest watershed'. The proportion of urban area in each cluster had a positive correlation with water pollution degree. Otherwise, the proportion of agriculture in the Agriculture watershed had a high positive correlation with water pollution degree. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate environmental capacity of water duality considering ecological and environmental characteristics of watershed ecosystem and expand water duality monitoring systems to small stream.

This research tested the applicability of landscape indices for monitoring landscapes in a heavily disturbed environment. Landscape indices were calculated from land cover maps based on Landsat TM data using FRAGSTATS. According to the results, considerable land cover change occurred from 1985 to 1999 due to economic development. In the assessment of landscape structure, forest and agriculture patch types were progressively subdivided into smaller, morphologically simpler as a result of human land use activities. Diversity and configuration of landscape patterns increased, especially in the patches adjacent to forest edge and agriculture. Future research will be directed towards the detection of correlations between landscape patterns and specific environmental and socioeconomic landscape functions.
