In view of the complicated geological stress structure and fuzzy distribution characteristics of a kilometer-deep mine, the KX-81 hollow inclusion stress relief method was used to test in situ stress in Shuanghe Coal Mine at the level of –1100. On the basis of the field test data, the 3D grid diagram of the principal stress distribution in the deep mining area of Shuanghe Coal Mine was drawn, and the relationship between the in situ stress distribution characteristics and the fault structure in wellfield was studied. Results showed that 1) the directions of σ1 and σ3 at each measurement point were horizontal, and the other principal stress σ2 was vertical. 2) The maximum principal stress value was 1.26–1.48 times of the self-weight stress value, indicating that the horizontal tectonic stress plays a leading role in the in situ stress of the mine. 3) The horizontal and vertical stresses at a depth of about 1090 m were estimated according to the theory. A comparison revealed that the theoretical values were lower than the field measured values. The area was found to be dominated by horizontal tectonic forces belonging to the dynamic stress field. 4) The direction of σ1 at each measurement point was 114.70°–124.72°, with an average of 120°. The direction was NWW-SEE. In accordance with the distribution law of the fault structure in the wellfield, the consistency between the wellfield geological structure and the measured direction of the maximum principal stress was analyzed and verified. The research results provide technical basis for deep well roadway layout and stability control and improve the scientific nature and reliability of surrounding rock control of high stress roadway in deep wells under complex geological structures.

This study presents a new technology for passing through faults quickly by removing gangue in advance from driving roadways of working faces; this technology has the advantages of short moving time and good coal quality during fault passing. However, in practice, driving roadways are affected by mining pressure during the driving and mining period; thus, roadway support is difficult. This study aims to develop appropriate support for driving roadways, not only to ensure the stability of the roadway and satisfy the space requirements for the working face when it passes through the fault but also to reduce the strength of the rock pillars in the roadway. In this manner, the shearer can directly reduce the working strength during the period of fault passing. In this study, UDEC numerical simulation software is used to explore the size of rock pillars and the parameters of bolt support. In addition, the supporting effect of ordinary, high-strength prestressed, and high-strength prestressed yielding bolts is compared. On the basis of the simulation results, a reasonable control scheme of surrounding rock in advanced driving roadways is proposed. Moreover, the successful application of the technology in field practice shows the remarkable effect of this scheme on the surrounding rock control when passing faults. Thus, this study provides some references for surrounding rock control during the fault passing of the mining face.

Mining industry plays an important role in Chinese National Economy with more than 10 million persons serving for it, yet the quality and capacity of Chinese mining engineers has lagged far behind developed countries. In this paper based on “Plan for Educating and Training Outstanding Engineer”, according to the mining industry status and trend, the Plan for Educating and Training Outstanding Mining Engineer (PETOME) is put forward, which consists of educating objectives, educating standards, the educating plan of higher school and the enterprise plan. At the same time some questions and solutions in the practice of PETOME is claimed. Good results are achieved after PETOME practice in Shandong University of Science and Technology.
