Chordoid gliomas are uncommon neoplasms located within the anterior portion of the third ventricle. In this article, we aimed to describe the clinical presentation, magnetic resonance imaging characteristics, histological findings, and surgical treatment applied to a case of chordoid glioma. Chordoid gliomas are typically observed as solid masses within the anterior segment of the third ventricle, characterized by homogenous and vivid enhancement. Despite being classified as a low-grade neoplasm, the outcome of choroid glioma is often uncertain.

Introduction: Neurocysticercosis (NCC), a major contributor to the burden of seizure disorders and epilepsy in the world, is one of the most common parasitic infections of the central nervous system, which is usually located in the brain. Medical therapy for NCC should initially cover appropriate symptom control and then the use of antiparasitic agents should be considered. Antiparasitic treatment is of benefit in most cases of viable and degenerating NCC. Nevertheless, cysticercosis of the spinal cord is very uncommon. Case series: In this article, we recorded 5 cases of extramedullary-intradural lumbar spinal cysticercosis, in which one case displayed cystic lesions in both brain and spine, one case showed an independent cystic lesion in the spine, and three remaining cases showed diffuse lesions in the spinal canal. Conclusion: Thus, in any case of single or numerous cystic lesions or dispersed lesions entering the spinal canal, spinal cysticercosis should be considered.

Although it has been extensively studied for decades, the α-Al2O3:Cr3+ phosphor has rarely been investigated for horticultural lighting. In this work, for the first time, a prototype of a plant growth light-emitting diode (LED) has been fabricated by coating a deep-red-emitting α-Al2O3:Cr3+ phosphor onto a near-ultraviolet (NUV) chip. The α-Al2O3:Cr3+ phosphor, synthesized by a co-precipitation method and annealed at 1500 °C for 2 h, emits an outstanding narrow peak at 695 nm. The α-Al2O3:0.6%Cr3+ phosphor shows a high activation energy of 0.29 eV, a long lifetime of 3.4 ms, and a superior color purity of 100%. The chromatic coordinates and the QE value of the red LED obtained by coating an α-Al2O3:0.6%Cr3+ phosphor on a NUV chip are (x = 0.5650, y = 0.2429) and 87.1%, respectively.

The development of full-visible-spectrum phosphors is essential for next-generation light-emitting devices with better light quality. Herein, we report on a novel broad-band-emitting phosphor based on single-composition Al-doped ZnO phosphors. Under the UV excitation of 325 nm, the ZnO : Al phosphor exhibits a full spectrum emission in the visible wavelength range from 400 to 800 nm with a CIE chromaticity coordinate of (0.42, 0.48), a quantum efficiency of 43%, a color rendering index (CRI) of 74, a correlated color temperature (CCT) value of 3873 K and an activation energy of 0.22 eV. A prototype of a UV-pumped warm WLED with a high CRI of 87 and a CCT of 4067 K has been achieved by using only this broad-band-emitting Al3+-doped ZnO phosphor. The obtained results indicate that the single-composition Al3+-singly doped warm white emitting phosphor is a promising candidate for UV-pump warm white light-emitting diodes.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic function of 3-Tesla (T) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) during the assessment of brachial plexus injury (BPI), in comparison with intraoperative findings. Methods: A retrospective study was performed on 60 patients (47 men and 13 women), who had clinical manifestations of BPI, underwent 3T MRI of the brachial plexus, and were surgically treated at the Viet Duc and Vinmec Times City hospitals, in Hanoi, Vietnam, from March 2016 to December 2019. Preganglionic and postganglionic lesion features were identified on MRI. The diagnostic function of MRI features for the determination of BPI was evaluated and correlated with intraoperative findings. Results: The root avulsion and pseudomeningocele preganglionic injuries were observed in 57% and 43% of MRIs, respectively, and were commonly observed at the C7 and C8 roots. Nerve disruption and never edema were observed in 47.56% and 33.53% of MRIs, respectively, and were commonly observed at the C5 and C6 roots. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive prognostic value, and negative prognostic value of 3T MRI were 64.12%, 92.90%, 80.33%, 87.50%, and 76.96%, respectively, for the diagnosis of total avulsion, and 68.52%, 83.33%, 80.67%, 47.44%, and 92.34%, respectively, for the diagnosis of nerve disruption. Conclusion: MRI offers valuable details regarding the location, morphology, and severity of both preganglionic and postganglionic injuries during the preoperative diagnosis of BPI. However, this modality played a moderate diagnostic role. Therefore, 3T MRI should be used as a supplemental evaluation, coupled with clinical tests and electromyography, to determine the most appropriate treatment strategies for BPI patients.

Background/Aim: Hirayama disease, a rare neurological disorder, is characterized by progressive, asymmetric muscle atrophy of the forearm and hand in young male patients. Case Report: We noted two cases of Hirayama disease that appeared in the right upper limb and identified the cervical neutral and flexion position magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics. Conclusion: In the flexion posture, the cervical MRI allows early diagnosis of Hirayama disease and should be considered in patients with the typical clinical symptoms.

Ureteral fibroepithelial polyps are benign, mesodermal neoplasms that can cause upper urinary tract obstruction. The preoperative diagnosis of this disease is challenging, but multidetector computed tomography (CT), particularly CT urography in the excretory phase, can be used to detect the features of ureteral polyps. We illustrated a case preoperatively diagnosed as upper ureteral tract obstruction due to ureteral tumor based on clinical presentation and CT imaging. However, the histopathological report revealed ureteral fibroepithelial polyps. Ureteral fibroepithelial polyps should be considered as a rare cause of urinary obstruction when the clinical presentation and imaging findings are atypical for more common etiologies.

Background: Central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma presents as the dense infiltration of tumor cells in the perivascular space and blood-brain barrier disruption, on histopathological examination. The Ki-67 expression has been significantly correlated with tumor proliferation and is considered to be a prognostic factor. Objectives: This study aimed at analyzing the correlations among the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), the relative cerebral blood volume (rCBV), and the Ki-67 proliferation index in CNS lymphoma. Methods: From August 2019 to March 2020, 26 patients (14 men and 12 women) who underwent biopsy or surgery and were histologically confirmed as CNS lymphoma were included in this retrospective study. Diffusion and perfusion acquisitions were performed in 26 and 10 examinations, respectively. The Ki-67 proliferation index was available for all cases. Results: The mean tADC, rADC, and rCBV values were 0.61 ± 0.12 × 10-3 mm2/s, 0.73 ± 0.14, and 1.1 ± 0.32, respectively. Negative correlations were identified between both tADC and rADC and the Ki-67 proliferation index (r = -0.656, P < 0.01 and r = -0.540, P < 0.01, respectively). No significant correlations were found between rCBV values and the Ki-67 proliferation index, between rCBV and rADC, or between rCBV and tADC. Conclusions: tADC and rADC values can be used as noninvasive indicators to predict cell proliferation in CNS lymphoma.

There are still few works on application of deep learning for Myanmar language. This paper presents an approach to use a convolutional neural network (CNN) model to classify sentence sentiment in Myanmar texts. A CNN model is constructed on the top of a word embedding model (i.e., Word2Vec), which converts words into vectors. The model classifies the input sentences and labels each sentence with positive, negative, neutral, unrelated and unreadable sentiments. The model is learnt from 1,152 sentences taken from the customers' reviews of products, which is provided by a telecommunication company. Then, the model is tested on 495 unseen sentences with the result of 86.26% accuracy and 82.58% average f-measure in prediction. The model is compared with the traditional machine learning (ML) classifiers, especially support vector machine (SVM), naive Bayes (NB), and logistic regression (LR). The model outperforms these classifiers since SVM results in 64.44% accuracy, NB obtains 60.20% accuracy and LR gets 55.15% accuracy.

BACKGROUND: N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) antibody encephalitis appears common in the world, but the number of clinical cases in Vietnam which were recorded is rare. CASE REPORT: We describe two new cases of disease in recent years with the aim of contributing to diagnosis and treatment experiences. These cases were noted over the past 3 years with the patients who have been treated at lower levels but have no results. They came to us when symptoms became worse and therefore required prolonged treatment with special intensive care facilities. The atypical and easily confused symptoms are the reasons that make the disease be detected late; leading to a much higher cost of treatment and the complication may appear in the patient. In the past, patients with these manifestations were diagnosed with unexplained encephalitis and severe sequelae or death. Autoimmune encephalitis has many types; NMDA encephalitis associated with ovarian teratoma is the most common autoimmune encephalitis in young women. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, based on the case report, we hope to contribute some experiences on the diagnosis and the strategy in early treatment. With most female patients at very young age, early treatment to avoid complications will help patients have a quality life and maintain reproductive function.

Background: Meckel’s diverticulum (MD) is detected in approximately 2% of all individuals and only 2-4% MD patients may develop symptoms. Small intestinal obstruction is a frequent complication in adults. Case report: A 48-year-old male was admitted to emergency department for high intestinal obstruction symptoms. The imaging examinations were failed to detect the underlying causes. A median laparotomy revealed small bowel obstruction (SBO) due to a segment of ileum twisted around a giant MD axis. Conclusion: Thus, a giant MD generating torsion of ileum is an unusual complication. Preoperative diagnosis is challenging. Emergency surgery is preferred to make an accurate diagnosis and for treatment.

Though much attention has been paid on composing new web services, a closely related but distinct problem of composing requests to existing services has been relatively unexplored. Using existing geo-spatial web services, we illustrated that the problem has become complex that demands support systems of their own kind. We first formalized such systems as logic program, abstracting away from specific implementation languages. We then developed a communication protocol to combine them into a cooperative multi-agent service environment for composing service requests. Advantages that future web service composition could take from our approach was discussed also.

The development of emission-tunable structures opens an optimistic future for white light-emitting diodes (WLED) utilizing a UV pump. Herein, we report emission-tunable Mn-doped ZnS/ZnO heterostructure nanobelts synthesized by the thermal evaporation method, following by an appropriate oxidation process. Under the UV excitation of 330 nm, the as-received nanobelts show an orange-yellow light with CCT of 3056 K, the 500 and 700 °C-oxidized samples strongly exhibit a warm white light emission with CCT of 3393 K and 3551 K, respectively. Surprisingly, the Mn-doped ZnS/ZnO heterostructures oxidized at 600 °C show a white light emission with CIE chromaticity coordinate of (0.31, 0.39) and CCT value of 6290 K, which are nearly very close to that of the commercial YAG:Ce3+ phosphor. A prototype WLED with the color coordinates of (0.33, 0.45), the CCT of 5491 K, and the QE ∼ 61% was successfully fabricated using Mn-doped ZnS/ZnO heterostructure nanobelts coated on the surface of UV (370 nm) chip. The obtained Mn-doped ZnS/ZnO heterostructures are promising to be applied in UV-pumped WLED fabrication.

Probabilistic Argumentation (PA) is a recent line of research in AI aiming to combine the strengths of argumentation and probabilistic reasoning. Though several models of PA have been proposed, the development of practical applications is still hindered by the lack of inference procedures and reasoning engines. In this paper, we present a reduction method to compute a recently proposed model of PA called PABA. Using the method we design inference procedures to compute the credulous semantics, the ideal semantics and the grounded semantics for a general class of PABA frameworks, that we refer to as Bayesian PABA frameworks. We also show that, though restricting to Bayesian PABA frameworks, the inference procedures can be used to compute other PA models thanks to simple translations. Finally, we implement the inference procedures to obtain a multi-semantics engine for probabilistic argumentation and demonstrate its usage.

Objectives: This study aimed to define variations in radiological C1 and C2 measurements among Vietnamese subjects and to determine the feasibility of implementing C1-2 fixation techniques. Material and Methods: From October 2017 to April 2018, 120 patients underwent thin slide computed tomography (CT) scans of the cervical spine, in our hospital. Various dimensions of the C1 and C2 were analyzed, using axial and sagittal reconstructions of CT images. Differences in characteristics between the two sides and between sexes were investigated, using Student’s t-test, with significance at P < 0.05. Results: The mean anteroposterior dimension and the transverse width of the C1 lateral mass were 19.7 ± 2.1 mm and 12.2 ± 1.7 mm, respectively. The mean angles of the screw, directed to the maximal medial, lateral, cranial, and caudal directions, were 36.6 ± 2.8°, 28.2 ± 3.0°, 49.6 ± 4.1°, and 26.4 ± 5.5°, respectively. The average isthmus height, internal height, and pedicle width of the C2 were 5.8 ± 1.0 mm, 4.8 ± 1.3 mm, and 5.0 ± 1.3 mm, respectively. No significant differences were observed for any parameters, between the left and right side of the C1 or C2 or between the two sexes. Conclusion: This study revealed that the morphology of the C1 and C2 did not differ between genders in the studied subjects, but morphologic variations exist between Vietnamese subjects and other populations. Pre-operative anatomy evaluations based on CT data are essential be performed for screw placement and trajectory planning to avoid neurovascular complications and to enhance the treatment outcome.

Background: Bowel and mesenteric injuries have high morbidity and mortality rates in the trauma group due to non-specific symptoms and are often obscured in the context of multiple traumas, contributing to an increased risk of peritonitis and sepsis. The purpose of this research was to assess the diagnostic accuracy of 16-slice multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) findings in the diagnosis of bowel and mesenteric injuries accompanied by the association of these findings with the treatment strategy. Methods: A retrospective study was performed on 86 blunt-abdominal-trauma patients, hospitalized at the emergency department of our institution from June 2018 to July 2019 (75 men and 11 women aged 4–76 years old with a median age of 40.88), who had 16-slice MDCT diagnosis of blunt bowel and mesenteric injuries and were treated by nonsurgical and surgical treatment. Ethical clearance was taken from the institute ethics committee with waiver of consent. Results: The specificity of bowel-wall rupture, active extravasation, and reduced bowel-wall enhancement were 100%, 98.15%, and 100%, respectively. Pneumoperitoneum had the highest sensitivity of 83.33%. Bowel-wall rupture, Janus signs, pneumoperitoneum, and mesenteric stranding were significantly correlated with surgical results. The existence of these results improved the likelihood of 7-, 6-, 29- and 3-fold surgical treatment, respectively. Inter-observer consensus was very strong for bowel-wall rupture, active extravasation, bowel hematoma, and pneumoperitoneum. Conclusion: Bowel-wall rupture was the definite sign of bowel injury and its connection with surgical treatment was important. Pneumoperitoneum was not a specific indication of blunt bowel injury; but when this is detected, emergency intervention should be suggested.

Service restoration in a distribution power system aims at finding a series of switching operations - a restoration plan, that restores power given an occurrence of a fault, considering multiple objectives and constraints. In this research, we first elaborate that many of common objectives and constraints depend on plan’s physical properties that can be obtained efficiently by simulating the plan, using simulation software like DIgSILENT PowerFactory. However other objectives/constraints cannot be computed by physical simulation because they depend on non-physical and/or non-functional properties not intrinsic to the plan, such as the power company's policies and the market information. From this observation, we propose a framework for distribution service power restoration integrating multiple knowledge sources: heuristics representing the expertise of experienced operators are used to construct possible plans, DIgSILENT PowerFactory computes plan’s physical properties, while non-physical properties are provided by relevant knowledge bases. To demonstrate the appropriateness of the framework, we developed a proof-of-concept implementation.

We study the relationships between two prominent approaches to, respectively, non-additive degrees of belief and probabilistic argumentation: Demspter-Shafer Theory (DST) and Probabilistic Assumption-based Argumentation (PABA). In particular we show that each DST body of evidence can be represented by a PABA framework, and DST combination rules can be simulated by a canonical rule for combining PABA frameworks. We then develop a PABA framework capable of taking DST evidence directly besides logical knowledge. We illustrate how this framework naturally models a decision making situation that DST alone seems ill-suited.

Inference for Probabilistic Argumentation has been focusing on computing the probability that a given argument or proposition is acceptable. In this paper, we formalize such tasks as computing marginal acceptability probabilities given some evidence and learning probabilistic parameters from a dataset. We then show that algorithms for them can be composed by finely joining a basic PA inference algorithm and existing algorithms for the corresponding tasks in Probabilistic Logic Programming or even Bayesian networks.

Analogical reasoning makes use of a kind of resemblance of one thing to another for assigning properties from one context to another. This kind of reasoning is used quite often by human beings, especially in unseen situations. The key idea of analogy is to identify a good similarity; however, similarity may be varied on subjective factors (i.e. an agent’s preferences). This paper studies an implementation of this phenomena using an answer set programming with Description Logics. The main idea underlying the proposed approach lies in the so-called Argument from Analogy developed by Walton [1]. Finally, the paper relates the approach to others and discusses future directions.

The production of banana-one of the highly consumed fruits-is highly affected due to loss of certain number of banana plants in an early phase of vegetation. This affects the ability of farmers to forecast and estimate the production of banana. In this paper, we propose a deep learning (DL) based method to precisely detect and count banana plants on a farm exclusive of other plants, using high resolution RGB aerial images collected from Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). An attempt to detect the plants on the normal RGB images resulted less than 78.8% recall for our sample images of a commercial banana farm in Thailand. To improve this result, we use three image processing methods-Linear Contrast Stretch, Synthetic Color Transform and Triangular Greenness Index-to enhance the vegetative properties of orthomosaic, generating multiple variants of orthomosaic. Then we separately train a parameter-optimized Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) on manually interpreted banana plant samples seen on each image variants, to produce multiple results of detection on our region of interest. 96.4%, 85.1% and 75.8% of plants were correctly detected on three of our dataset collected from multiple altitude of 40, 50 and 60 meters, of same farm. Further discussion on results obtained from combination of multiple altitude variants are also discussed later in the research, in an attempt to find better altitude combination for data collection from UAV for the detection of banana plants. The results showed that merging the detection results of 40 and 50 meter dataset could detect the plants missed by each other, increasing recall upto 99%.

We develop inference procedures for a recently proposed model of probabilistic argumentation called PABA, taking advantages of well-established dialectical proof procedures for Assumption-based Argumentation and Bayesian Network algorithms. We establish the soundness and termination of our inference procedures for a general class of PABA frameworks. We also discuss how to translate other models of probabilistic argumentation into this class of PABA frameworks so that our inference procedures can be used for these models as well.

An abstract argumentation framework may have many extensions. Which extension should be adopted as the semantics depends on the sceptical attitudes of the reasoners. Different degrees of scepticism lead to different semantics ranging from the grounded extension as the most sceptical semantics to preferred extensions as the least sceptical semantics. Extending abstract argumentation to allow attacks to be attacked, subjects attacks to argumentation and hence gives rise to a new dimension of scepticism for characterizing how sceptically attacks are accepted. In this article, we present a semantics based on the notion of inductive (grounded) defense of attacks which is sceptical towards the acceptance of attacks but credulous towards the acceptance of arguments.We show that the semantics preserves fundamental properties of abstract argumentation including the monotonicity of the characteristic function. We further show that any extension of the semantics proposed by Gabbay; Baroni, Cerutti, Giacomin and Guida; and Modgil contains a sceptical part being an extension of our semantics, and a credulous part resulted from its credulousness towards the acceptance of attacks. We then introduce a stratified form of extended argumentation which still allows an unbounded number of levels of attacks against attacks while assuring that all proposed semantics coincide. In this article, we also develop a sound and complete dialectical proof procedure for the presented semantics following a model of dispute that alternates between argumentation to accept arguments and to accept attacks.

BACKGROUND Although high prevalences of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) have been reported among female sex workers (FSWs) in some countries of Asia, there is little data about this issue in Vietnam. GOAL The goal of this study was to determine 1) the prevalence of selected STIs and correlates of chlamydia or gonococcal infection, and 2) contraceptive practices, STI-related symptoms, and healthcare-seeking behavior in FSWs in border provinces of Vietnam. METHODS Nine hundred eleven FSWs in five border provinces of Vietnam (Lai Chau, Quang Tri, Dong Thap, An Giang, and Kien Giang) were enrolled in a cross-sectional study between December 2002 and January 2003. Study subjects were interviewed about selected sociodemographic and behavioral characteristics, history of STIs, and information about cohabiting partners by a standard interview schedule. Serologic samples were collected for syphilis and urine specimens for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to determine behavioral and other selected risk factors for gonorrhea/chlamydia among FSWs. RESULTS Overall, the prevalences of syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and gonorrhea/chlamydia among FSWs in the five border provinces were 10.7%, 10.7%, 11.9%, and 19.9%, respectively. The prevalence of gonorrhea/chlamydia was higher in the northern and central regions (27-33%) than in the southern region (11-24%). The prevalence of syphilis was low in Lai Chau (1%), but higher than 10% in the other four border provinces. Among FSWs with cohabiting partners, income < or =33 US$ per month (odds ratio [OR] = 5.8, P = 0.009), ever having worked outside Vietnam (OR = 78.2, P = 0.007), partner's age

We describe an extensive application of argument-based decision making and negotiation to a real-world scenario in which an investor agent and an estate manager agent negotiate to lease a land for a computer assembly factory. Agents are equipped with beliefs, goals, preferences, and argument-based decision-making mechanisms taking uncertainties into account. Goals are classified as either structural or contractual. The negotiation process is divided into two phases. In the first phase, following a recently proposed framework [8] the investor agent find suitable locations based on its structural goals such as requirements about transportation; the estate manager agent determines favored tenants based on its structural goals such as requirements about resource conservation. In the second phase, we introduce a new novel argument-based negotiation protocol for agents to agree on contract to fulfill their contractual goals such as waste disposal cost.

Real-world dispute resolution should be guided by laws, even if such disputes may be resolved by bodies other than the court of laws. Hence in order to build contract dispute resolution systems we need a tool capable of representing, reasoning and programming with contract laws. In this paper we present such a tool called MoDiSo (MOdular Argumentation for DIspute ReSOlution ) which combines the strengths of state-of-the-art argumentation-based techniques for different aspects of law, to propose: first, a modular architecture for contract dispute resolution systems with an edit-compile-dispute loop facilitating incremental system developments; and second, a methodology to represent and reason with legal doctrines in contract laws in the formal language of assumption-based argumentation. We demonstrate the tool with several legal doctrines for performance relief in common law of contracts. As a by-product, we obtain a dispute resolution system capable of explaining legal outcomes by automatically generating relevant arguments.

Phosphor-converted white light emitting diodes (white LEDs) have received great attention in recent years since they have several excellent features such as high lumen output, low power consumption, long lifetime and environmentally friendly. In this work, we report the co-precipitation synthesis of red/blue Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu3+/Eu2+ phosphors with various Eu doping concentration. The results show that the obtained Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu3+/Eu2+ phosphors have good crystallinity and emit strong red (Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu3+) and blue (Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu2+) emissions under near UV light excitation. The sharp emission peaks at 577, 590, 612, 653, and 701 nm corresponded to the typical 5D0 → 7Fj (j = 0,1,2,3,4) transitions of Eu3+, and the blue emission peaking at 460 nm is attributed to the typical 4f65d1-4f7 transition of Eu2+ in the same Sr2MgSi2O7 host lattice. Both phosphors can be well excited in the wavelength range of 260–400 nm where the near UV-LED is well matched. The above results suggest that the Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu3+/Eu2+ phosphors are promising red/blue-emitting phosphors for the application in near UV pumped phosphor-converted white LEDs.
