Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN) injury has been widely reported as one of the most common complications of direct anterior approach (DAA) hip arthroplasty. Bikini incision is considered to increase the incidence of this complication.A prospective randomized study was conducted after including ninety-nine bikini and ninety-six longitudinal incision DAA cases from May to November 2020. The occurrence of LFCN was examined using ultrasound before and after surgery. The recovery of injury symptoms was evaluated by continuous clinical follow-up until six months, and the patients were treated with mecobalamin and/or celecoxib. Sensory conduction velocity and sensory action potential amplitude of the LFCN were measured after surgery in symptomatic patients.Eighty five (43.6%), sixty seven (34.4%), and forty three (22.0%) cases of LFCN were of the anterior trunk, posterior trunk, and fan types, respectively, before surgery. All one hundred ninety five patients completed the follow-up period. Fifty-seven patients had symptoms of LFCN injury, including thirty six and twenty one patients in the bikini group and longitudinal group, respectively, with significantly different incidence rates (36.4% and 21.9%, respectively; P.05). Of these, thirty two (56.1%), thirteen (22.8%), and twelve (21.1%) cases were of the anterior trunk, posterior trunk, and fan types, respectively. Sensory conduction velocity and sensory action potential amplitude significantly decreased after surgery in both groups (P.05). Seventeen cases showed reduction of symptoms within three months. Forty six cases showed self-recovery within six months and eleven cases showed persistent symptoms at the final follow-up.Bikini incision DAA hip arthroplasty may increase the incidence of LFCN injury, and the anterior trunk distribution type is most likely to be affected. The aim of this retrospective population-based study was to investigate the survival outcomes and prognostic factors of patients with the two cervical carcinomas. A cohort of patients diagnosed with papillary serous adenocarcinoma of the uterine cervix (PSAC) and papillary squamous cell carcinoma (PSCC) between 1973 and 2015 were drawn from the National Cancer Institute's Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database. Overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method, and prognostic factors were assessed using Cox proportional hazards survival regression analysis. The 5-year and 10-year OS rates were 38.4 and 33.1% for PSAC and 64.6 and 50.8% for PSCC, respectively. The 2-year and 5-year CSS rates were 60.6 and 45.9% for PSAC and 79.6 and 69.0% for PSCC, respectively. Patients with PSCC survive longer than PSAC patients and have other well-described prognostic factors for improved survival rates, including an early cancer stage, a younger patient age and standardised surgery.Impact statementWhat is already known on this subject? Endometriosis is a benign, chronic inflammatory disease that commonly occurs in reproductive‐aged women. Epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) of endometrial epithelial cells plays an important role in the development of endometriosis. Recepteur d'origine nantais (RON), a receptor tyrosine kinase, has been reported to promote EMT and progression in tumours. However, whether and how RON mediates the EMT and endometriosis development is not known. Here, we found that RON activation could improve the migratory and invasive capabilities, change cellular morphologies, and decrease expression of E‐cadherin and increase expression of N‐cadherin in endometrial epithelial cells. Inhibition or knockdown of RON expression suppressed the migration and invasion of endometrial epithelial cells. Our studies also indicated that RON played its part in endometrial epithelial cells through protein kinase B (Akt) and mitogen‐activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways. Treatment with a RON inhibitor could decrease the number of ectopic lesions in a mouse model of endometriosis and mediate expression of EMT markers in endometriotic lesions. These data suggest that RON contributed to endometriosis development by promoting EMT of endometrial epithelial cells. Therefore, RON may be a new therapeutic target for endometriosis.

Background and purpose Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis is the most-common form of autoimmune encephalitis, but its early diagnosis is challenging. This study aimed to identify the risk factors for a poor prognosis in anti-NMDAR encephalitis and construct a prognostic composite score for obtaining earlier predictions of a poor prognosis. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data, laboratory indexes, imaging findings, and electroencephalogram (EEG) data of 60 patients with anti-NMDAR encephalitis. The modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores of patients were collected when they were discharged from the hospital. The mRS scores were used to divide the patients into two groups, with mRS scores of 3-6 defined as a poor prognosis. Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze independent risk factors related to a poor prognosis. Results This study found that 23 (38.3%) and 37 (61.7%) patients had good and poor prognoses, respectively. Logistic regression analysis showed that age, disturbance of consciousness at admission, and ≥50% slow waves on the EEG were significantly associated with patient outcomes. An age, consciousness, and slow waves (ACS) composite score was constructed to predict the prognosis of patients with anti-NMDAR encephalitis at an early stage based on regression coefficients. Conclusions Age, disturbance of consciousness at admission, and ≥50% slow waves on the EEG were independent risk factors for a poor prognosis. The ACS prognostic composite score could play a role in facilitating early predictions of the prognosis of anti-NMDAR encephalitis.

STUDY QUESTION Does P2X ligand-gated ion channel 3 (P2X3) play a role in endometriosis pain? SUMMARY ANSWER Upregulation of P2X3 in dorsal root ganglia (DRG) tissues via the activating transcription factor 3 (ATF3)/activator protein (AP)-1 pathway contributed to endometriosis-associated hyperalgesia, which could be attenuated by the chitosan oligosaccharide stearic acid (CSOSA)/liposomes (LPs)/SP600125 delivery system. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY Infiltrating nerve fibers and elevated nociceptors in endometriotic lesions are associated with endometriosis pain. P2X3 has been demonstrated to play an important role in neuropathic pain. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION A rat model of endometriosis was used to investigate the signaling pathways involved in P2X3-induced pain. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS Degrees of hyperalgesia, endogenous adenosine 5′-triphosphate (ATP) contents and P2X3 expression levels in endometriotic lesions and DRG tissues were detected in a rat model of endometriosis. The expression levels of ATF3 and P2X3 were measured using qRT-PCR, western blot analysis and immunofluorescence analysis after adenosine 5′-diphosphate (ADP) exposure in DRG cells. Plasmids encoding ATF3 and its siRNA were used to investigate the role of ATF3 on ADP-induced P2X3 upregulation. The activity of ATF binding to the P2X3 promoter was evaluated by using chromatin immunoprecipitation (CHIP) and luciferase assays. SP600125, an inhibitor of c-JUN N-terminal kinase, was wrapped in CSOSA/LPs delivery system and its inhibitory effects on ADP-induced upregulation of P2X3 in DRG cells and endometriosis-induced hyperalgesia in rats were tested. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE The concentrations of endogenous ATP and expression levels of P2X3 were significantly increased in both endometriotic lesions and DRG tissues in endometriosis rat models and were found to be positively correlated with the severity of hyperalgesia. In DRG cells, P2X3 expression levels were elevated by ADP stimulation, but dramatically inhibited by blocking ATF3 with its siRNA and SP600125. CHIP and luciferase assay showed that ADP increased the binding of ATF3 to the P2X3 promoter, resulting in an increase in P2X3 expression levels. In the CSOSA/LPs/SP600125 delivery system, the drug could be effectively concentrated in endometriotic lesions, and it could alleviate endometriosis-induced hyperalgesia, reduce the size of endometriotic lesions and attenuate upregulated P2X3 expression levels in endometriosis rat models. LARGE SCALE DATA N/A LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION Changes in the sensitivity and function of P2X3 caused by endometriosis need to be further investigated. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS This study indicates that ATP and the P2X3 receptor are involved in endometriosis pain, thus providing a novel therapeutic approach for the treatment of endometriosis pain by targeting the P2X3 receptor. OBJECTIVE To determine whether surgery for adnexal masses in the first trimester of pregnancy affects subsequent pregnancy outcomes compared to surgery in the second trimester. METHODS Data were retrospectively reviewed from women who underwent adnexal mass surgery before 26 weeks of gestation at a university hospital between July 2008 and June 2018. Women who underwent surgery in the first trimester were classified as group 1 (n=78) and those in the second trimester were classified as group 2 (n=48). Information on clinical characteristics and pregnancy outcomes was obtained from medical records and follow-up interviews and compared between two groups. RESULTS There were no differences in age, parity, mass size, laparoscopy, and operation time between the two groups. A total of 98 cases were confirmed as ovarian torsion, including 72 cases in group 1 and 26 cases in group 2. Accordingly, adnexectomy was performed more often in group 1 (P=0.002). No significant differences concerning the rate of abortion, preterm birth, or cesarean delivery were found. CONCLUSION Surgery for adnexal masses performed in the first trimester is almost as safe as that in the second trimester. Surgery should be performed for women with a complex adnexal mass in the first trimester to avoid unfavorable complications.

Background Endometriosis is defined as a chronic inflammatory disease. Recent studies have shown that increased coagulation parameters including fibrinogen and platelets are associated with endometriosis. The objective of this study was to determine the levels of inflammatory markers and coagulation parameters and their correlations in women with endometriomas compared to those with benign ovarian cysts or normal pelvic anatomy. Methods Between June 2015 and June 2017, a total of 548 women who underwent laparoscopic/laparotomic surgery for ovarian endometriomas (OMA group, n = 226), non-endometriosis benign ovarian cysts (Cyst group, n = 210) and tubal reanastomosis (Control group, n = 112) were recruited in this study. Inflammatory markers including c-reactive protein (CRP), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and coagulation parameters including platelet count, thrombin time (TT), prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time, and plasma fibrinogen as well as CA-125 were determined. Results Compared with Cyst group and Control group, TT and PT in OMA group were significantly shorter and plasma fibrinogen levels were significantly higher (P P Conclusions These results indicate that women with endometriomas demonstrate a hypercoagulable status due to the inflammatory nature of endometriosis. The combined determination for CA-125 and fibrinogen demonstrate a higher area under the curve than the single detection of CA-125 in those with endometriomas compared to these with benign ovarian cysts. In order to explore the effect of exercise nursing intervention for pelvic floor muscle function recovery at 42 days postpartum, this paper conducts experimental research through controlled experiments, combines statistical methods to carry out digital processing, and sets a single variable of nursing intervention to provide a basis for experimental control, and statistical test results are used for effect evaluation. It has been discovered via experimental study that pelvic floor muscle function recovery exercise training for normal delivery women may enhance the mother’s compliance with the pelvic floor muscle function exercise. Moreover, it can reduce the occurrence of urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, improve the postpartum pelvic floor function of postpartum women, improve the quality of life, and have a significant recovery effect. In addition, it is a simple, noninvasive, and highly safe continuation nursing measure, which can effectively improve the quality of obstetric care and has strong clinical use value.

Endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent gynecological disease. The pathogenesis of endometriosis remains controversial, although it is generally accepted that the inflammatory immune response plays a crucial role in this process. Mast cells (MCs) are multifunctional innate immune cells that accumulate in endometriotic lesions. However, the molecular mechanism by which estrogen modulates MCs in the development of endometriosis is not well understood. Here we report that estrogen can induce the expression of NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) through estrogen receptor (ER)-α via the estrogen responsive element (ERE) in MCs. Such transcriptional regulation is necessary for the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome and the production of mature interleukin (IL)-1β in MCs. Targeted inhibition of NLRP3 significantly restrained lesion progression and fibrogenesis in a mouse model of endometriosis. Collectively, these findings suggest that MCs contribute to the development of endometriosis through NLRP3 inflammasome activation mediated by nuclear-initiated estrogen signaling pathway.

However, the long-term efficacy of adenomyomectomy has rarely been reported. The objective of this study was to determine whether laparotomy is superior to laparoscopic surgery in the long-term efficacy of double-flap method adenomyomectomy for severe diffuse adenomyosis.Methods: Between March 2011 and September 2018, a total of 148 patients with severe uterine diffuse adenomyosis who underwent laparoscopic (group A, n=72) and laparotomic (group B, n=76) double-flap adenomyomectomy were recruited. Adenomyomectomy efficacy and adenomyosis recurrence after surgery between groups A and B were comparatively analyzed.Results: The effective rate at 6-year follow up after surgery was higher in group B (75.0%) than that in group A (62.1%), while the 6-year cumulative recurrence rate was higher in group A (27.8%) than that in group B (17.1%), but the differences did not reach statistical significance between the two groups (P>0.05). BACKGROUND Patients with primary breast cancer following primary ovarian cancer do not comprise a large clinical entity, and reports of the survival outcomes of this cohort are rare. The purpose of this retrospective population-based research was to investigate the survival outcomes of patients with primary breast cancer after primary ovarian cancer. MATERIAL AND METHODS A cohort of patients diagnosed with primary breast cancer following primary ovarian cancer between 1973 and 2014 was drawn from the National Cancer Institute's Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database. Cox proportional hazards survival regression analysis and Kaplan-Meier were applied to calculate overall survival (OS), cancer-specific survival (CSS), and independent predictors of CSS. RESULTS A total of 1455 patients with primary breast cancer following primary ovarian cancer were identified. The 5-year and 10-year OS rates for the entire cohort were 81.7% and 67.4%, respectively. The 5-year and 10-year CSS rates were 84.2% and 74.3% for ovarian cancer, and 76.0% and 67.8% for breast cancer, respectively. Multivariate analysis revealed that independent predictors of ovarian cancer CSS include age, cancer stage, diagnosis time, and histological subtype. CONCLUSIONS Patients diagnosed with breast cancer following ovarian cancer have better survival rates. Patients age, ovarian cancer stage, ovarian cancer histological type, and time of diagnose affect the survival rate.

Background Endometriosis is a refractory and recurrent disease and it affects nearly 10% of reproductive-aged women and 40% of infertile patients. The commonly accepted theory for endometriosis is retrograde menstruation where endometrial tissues invade into peritoneal cavity and fail to be cleared due to immune dysfunction. Therefore, the comprehensive understanding of immunologic microenvironment of peritoneal cavity deserves further investigation for the previous studies mainly focus on one or several immune cells. Results High-quality transcriptomes were from peritoneal fluid samples of patients with endometriosis and control, and firstly subjected to 10 × genomics single-cell RNA-sequencing. We acquired the single-cell transcriptomes of 10,280 cells from endometriosis sample and 7250 cells from control sample with an average of approximately 63,000 reads per cell. A comprehensive map of overall cells in peritoneal fluid was first exhibited. We unveiled the heterogeneity of immune cells and discovered new cell subtypes including T cell receptor positive (TCR+) macrophages, proliferating macrophages and natural killer dendritic cells in peritoneal fluid, which was further verified by double immunofluorescence staining and flow cytometry. Pseudo-time analysis showed that the response of macrophages to the menstrual debris might follow the certain differentiation trajectory after endometrial tissues invaded into the peritoneal cavity, that is, from antigen presentation to pro-inflammation, then to chemotaxis and phagocytosis. Our analyses also mirrored the dysfunctions of immune cells including decreased phagocytosis and cytotoxic activity and elevated pro-inflammatory and chemotactic effects in endometriosis. Conclusion TCR+ macrophages, proliferating macrophages and natural killer dendritic cells are firstly reported in human peritoneal fluid. Our results also revealed that immune dysfunction happens in peritoneal fluid of endometriosis, which may be responsible for the residues of invaded menstrual debris. It provided a large-scale and high-dimensional characterization of peritoneal microenvironment and offered a useful resource for future development of immunotherapy.

Optical-matter interactions and photon scattering in a sub-wavelength space are of great interest in many applications, such as nanopore-based gene sequencing and molecule characterization. Previous studies show that spatial distribution features of the scattering photon states are highly sensitive to the dielectric and structural properties of the nanopore array and matter contained on or within them, as a result of the complex optical-matter interaction in a confined system. In this paper, we report a method for shape characterization of subwavelength nanowells using photon state spatial distribution spectra in the scattering near field. Far-field parametric images of the near-field optical scattering from sub-wavelength nanowell arrays on a SiN substrate were obtained experimentally. Finite-difference time-domain simulations were used to interpret the experimental results. The rich features of the parametric images originating from the interaction of the photons and the nanowells were analyzed to recover the size of the nanowells. Experiments on nanoholes modified with Shp2 proteins were also performed. Results show that the scattering distribution of modified nanoholes exhibits significant differences compared to empty nanoholes. This work highlights the potential of utilizing the photon status scattering of nanowells for molecular characterization or other virus detection applications.

Background Endometriosis-associated pain can be considered a type of neuropathic pain. Netrin-1 is an axon guidance cue that regulates axonal attraction or rejection in neural injury and regeneration. However, whether netrin-1 plays a role in endometriosis-associated pain remains unclear. This study aimed to determine the role of netrin-1 in endometriosis-related pain. Methods Peripheral blood, peritoneal fluid, and endometrial tissues were sampled from women with (n=37) and without endometriosis (n=23). Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and interferon gamma (IFN-γ) were used to stimulate human monocytic cell lines (THP-1) and rat alveolar macrophage-derived cell lines (NR8383) to induce M1 phenotype macrophages. Serum netrin-1 concentrations, endometrial expression levels of netrin-1, and its receptors including deleted in colorectal cancer (DCC), A2B adenosine receptor (A2BAR), uncoordinated B receptor (UNC5B), uncoordinated C receptor (UNC5C) and Down's syndrome cell adhesion molecule (DSCAM) were assessed. The polarization phenotypes of the peritoneal macrophages were identified by detecting the marker expression of M1/M2 macrophages via flow cytometry. The expression levels of M1 markers and netrin-1 in THP-1/NR8383 cells were determined. Results The expression levels of netrin-1 in serum and endometriotic lesions were significantly higher in women with endometriosis, and were positively correlated with the severity of endometriosis-associated pain. Netrin-1 was co-expressed with CD68 (a macrophage marker) in endometriotic lesions and was synthesized and secreted by THP-1 and NR8383 cells in the process of M1 polarization. In women with endometriosis, peritoneal macrophages were polarized towards the M1 phenotype. In addition, increased expression of DCC and A2BAR, and decreased expression of UNC5B, UNC5C and DSCAM were found in endometriotic lesions. Conclusions These results suggest that netrin-1 production by macrophages in endometriotic lesions may play an important role in endometriosis-associated pain.

Compared with the fiber channel, the changes of polarization state and the channel characteristics of the two polarization states are relatively slowly in space optical communication channel. At the same time, there have no serious PMD effect in the atmosphere. Because of the relative stability of polarization states in space optical communication systems, we propose and experimentally validate a method that performs low-speed polarization de- multiplexing processing first, and then performs low-speed linear channel equalization for each polarization channel in the DSP process. While the polarization de-multiplexing is realized by ICC algorithm, and the channel equalization is realized by CMA. What’s more, the tap coefficients of ICC algorithm and CMA are able to update by processing the received information sequence in low speed with low-speed logic cells in this method. Therefore, the advantage of this method is that the logic resource consumption in hardware implementation will be reduced by reuse of the low-speed logic cells during FPGA processing while the ICC algorithm and CMA are running. In order to verify the effectiveness of the scheme, we build a communication system that 20-GBd PM-QPSK signals are sent at the transmit-side, and a coherent receiver with local oscillator at the receive-side. By analyzing the constellation diagram and comparing the BER after the ICC algorithm and CMA processing with that after CMA processing, we know that this method simplifies the DSP effectively without significant impact on communication quality.

Recepteur d’origine nantais (RON) protein expression has been demonstrated to correlate with tumor progression, metastasis, and prognosis, and its mRNA expression increases in deeply infiltrating endometriotic lesions. However, it remains unclear whether RON protein expression also increases in endometriotic lesions, and may be a risk factor of malignant transformation in endometriotic lesions. The protein expression of RON in control (n = 19), eutopic (n = 16), and ectopic (n = 51) endometria, as well as in endometriosis-associated ovarian cancers (EAOC, n = 16) was determined by immunohistochemical (IHC) staining. Endometriotic lesions expressed low levels of RON protein, but no RON protein expression appeared in matched eutopic or control endometrium. EAOC exhibited high levels of RON protein. The frequency and IHC score of RON protein expression were both significantly higher in EAOC [100.0% (14/14), 5.37 ± 0.74] than those in endometriotic lesions [51.0% (26/51), 2.15 ± 1.12; P = 0.002, 0.001]. Multivariate analysis of covariance only revealed a correlation of RON protein expression and EAOC (P = 0.006), but no correlations of RON protein expression and clinical parameters (P > 0.05). These obtained results suggest that increased RON expression might be involved in the pathogenesis of endometriosis and disease-associated ovarian cancers.

Objective: To investigate the influence of body mass index (BMI) and hip anatomy on direct anterior approach (DAA) total hip replacement. Subjects and Methods: The study is a retrospective analysis of 124 cases of DAA total hip replacement from 2009 to 2012. The BMI, the ratio of the greater trochanter (GT) and anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) bilaterally (GT/ASIS), and the vertical distance between the ASIS and GT (AGVD) were obtained from medical records. All cases were categorized into three groups (43, 49, and 32 cases in each group, respectively) based on BMI (BMI 25) or divided into two groups based on GT/ASIS (≤1.17 or >1.17) or AGVD (≤86 or >86 mm). Operating time, intraoperative bleeding, and surgical complications were compared between different groups. Results: A longer average operating time, more intraoperative bleeding, and a higher rate of complications were observed in the group with the highest BMI. The complications included a case of intraoperative femur fracture, a wound hematoma, and a lateral femoral cutaneous nerve injury. The group with higher GT/ASIS had a shorter average operating time, less bleeding, and a lower complication rate than the group with lower GT/ASIS. Moreover, the group with higher AGVD showed a shorter average operating time, less bleeding, and a lower complication rate compared with the group with lower AGVD. Conclusion: Our study suggests that lower BMI and larger GT/ASIS and AGVD are associated with a shorter operating time, less bleeding, and a lower complication rate in DAA total hip replacement. These findings are valuable for clinicians to make the appropriate choice of surgery types for different individuals.

BACKGROUND: Although the levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine device (LNG-IUD) has been widely applied in the treatment of adenomyosis, not all the patients are satisfied with its efficacy. The present retrospective study aimed to investigate the efficacy of LNG-IUD on different subtypes of adenomyosis. METHODS: The study comprised a cohort of 207 patients who received the LNG-IUD at the Women’s Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, China, from June 2013 to June 2016. Different subtypes of adenomyosis were classified by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and patients were subcategorized into three groups (subtype I: intrinsic, n=70; subtype II: extrinsic, n=73; subtype IV: indeterminate, n=64). Multiple variables were compared among the different groups. RESULTS: Patient demographics, clinical features and the treatment effects of the LNG-IUD were compared between the three subtype groups. To study the correlation between circulating microRNA-206 (miR-206) levels and endothelin-1 (ET-1) levels, and to explore its association with preeclampsia (PE) risk.Reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCT) was used to compare the plasma miR-206 levels in 200 PE patients and 200 healthy controls. The correlation between miR-206 and ET-1 levels in plasma of PE patients was analyzed by Pearson analysis. MiR-206 was transfected into human umbilical vein endothelial cells cells and ET-1 expression was analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RT-PCR results showed that plasma miR-206 levels in PE patients were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < .01). The results of receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed that the area under the curve of plasma miR-206 level in the diagnosis of PE was 0.94 (95% confidence interval: 0.92-0.96). Plasma ET-1 levels in PE patients were significantly lower than those in the control group by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (P < .01). The area under the curve of plasma ET-1 level in the diagnosis of PE was 0.92 (95% confidence interval: 0.90-0.95). The level of miR-206 in plasma was negative correlated with ET-1 level (r = -0.37, P < .01). The expression level of ET-1 was significantly decreased in human umbilical vein endothelial cells cells transfected with miR-206.miR-206 can down-regulate the expression of EDN1 gene, which may be related to the increased risk of preeclampsia.

Objective: To evaluate the anti-inflammatory effectiveness of celecoxib and its effect on the rehabilitation of joint function after total knee arthroplasty. Methods: 72 patients presented between 2016 and 2017 and were divided into two groups. The experimental group was given 200 mg celecoxib twice daily with tramadol hydrochloride 50 mg twice daily (as required); the control group was given tramadol hydrochloride 50 mg twice daily for 6 weeks from the first day after total knee arthroplasty. Skin temperature around the knee was measured 1 day before surgery, on postoperative days 1 and 3, and at weeks 1, 2, and 6. Inflammatory markers (white blood cell count, C-reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and interleukin-6) were measured preoperatively, on postoperative day 3, and at weeks 1 and 6. Knee Society Score was recorded preoperatively and at postoperative weeks 1, 2, and 6. Results: Except for preoperative skin temperature, the recorded skin temperatures of the experimental group were significantly different compared to those of the control group (p = 0.001, 0.024, 0.030, 0.041, 0.047, respectively). Levels of C-reactive protein were significantly different at the 1st and the 6th week after surgery, differing by 19.3 ± 4.64 mg/L (p < 0.001) and 2.6 ± 0.92 mg/L (p = 0.006). Levels of interleukin-6 showed a significant difference of 6.61 ± 2.36 pg/mL (p = 0.007) at the 1st week after surgery. Until the 6th week after surgery, the erythrocyte sedimentation rate in the experimental group and the control group differed by 17 ± 4.6 mm/h (p = 0.001). Conclusions: Celecoxib has a significant inhibitory effect on postoperative aseptic inflammation.

Long-term application of Tamoxifen (TAM) is usually recommended for hormone receptor positive breast cancer patients. Unfortunately, TAM will inevitably increase the incidence of endometrial hyperplasia even endometrial cancer. Despite of substantial investigations, no effective approaches to prevent TAM-induced endometrial carcinogenesis have been acknowledged. In this study, we found that inhibition of Nrf2 could be valuable to prevent TAM-induced endometrial hyperplasia. Upon TAM treatment, the mRNA and protein expression of autophagy adaptor SQSTM1 was specifically increased in endometrial cells but not breast cancer cells. Knocking-down of SQSTM1 expression retarded TAM-promoted growth of endometrial cancer cells. TAM stimulated SQSTM1 transcription specifically in endometrial cells by enhancing phosphorylation and nuclear translocation of Nrf2. Indeed, the expression of Nrf2 and SQSTM1 were positively correlated in primary endometrial tissues. In rats with TAM-induced endometrial hyperplasia, both Nrf2 and SQSTM1 expression were increased. Nrf2 inhibitor brusatol effectively attenuated TAM-induced SQSTM1 upregulation and endometrial hyperplasia. The kinase of Nrf2, PRKCD, was activated by TAM. Once PRKCD was depleted, TAM failed to promote Nrf2 phosphorylation and SQSTM1 expression. In summary, TAM stimulated Nrf2-dependent SQSTM1 transcription to promote endometrial hyperplasia by activating PRKCD. Therefore, blocking PRKCD-Nrf2-SQSTM1 signaling could be useful to prevent TAM-induced endometrial hyperplasia.

The usability evaluation methods of user interface based on mobile games was introduced in the paper. User usability evaluation model about mobile games were established based on user interview and questionnaire. Then, each evaluation item was analyzed and their weights were determined using the Delphi methods and mobile game interface usability index weight level distribution map was obtained. In addition, the methods of gray correlation analysis were proposed to optimize evaluation system model. Meanwhile, the methods of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation were given and the influence factors were found using the principle of maximum degree of membership. In the end, the example provided demonstrates the most satisfied user interface of mobile games is selected and it was proved that the methods proposed is efficient.

Placental protein 14 (PP-14) is the principal secretory phase product of endometrium and has been shown to inhibit cell immune function. But its role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis is controversy. The objective of this study is to determine the concentrations of PP-14 in peritoneal fluid (PF) and serum and PP-14 protein expression in endometriotic lesions in women with ovarian endometriosis (n = 75) when compared to women without endometriosis (n = 49) between day 7 and day 20 of their menstrual cycle. Concentrations of PP-14 in PF and serum as well as PP-14 protein expression in endometriotic lesions in women with and without endometriosis were evaluated by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and immunohistochemical staining, respectively. Serum PP-14 concentrations were significantly increased in women with endometriosis (7.5 ± 1.4 ng/mL) compared to those in women without endometriosis (5.8 ± 0.9 ng/mL; P < .05) and statistically decreased after surgery and further reduced by using gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist therapy (P < .05). However, the concentrations of PP-14 in PF did not reach a significant difference between women with and without endometriosis (P > .05). In women with endometriosis, scores of PP-14 protein expression in the lesions (n = 50, 2.2 [0∼5.8]) were significantly correlated with serum PP-14 concentrations (n = 50, 7.6 ± 1.3 ng/mL; P < .01). Our results suggest that PP-14 may play an important role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.

Suture fixation is mostly used in arthroscopic treatment of tibial eminence avulsion fractures. However, no clinical studies of metal cable fixation have been reported. We hypothesised that cable fixation can provide equal stability and clinical outcome compared with Ethibond sutures. Between 2007 and 2008, we treated 42 patients of adult type III tibial eminence avulsion fractures. Twenty-three patients were male, and 19 were female. All patients were confirmed by radiographs, MRI, and arthroscopy during surgery. Ligament injury and meniscus tears were excluded from this study. Twenty-two patients were treated with No. 2 Ethibond suture fixation (group I), and 20 were treated with cable fixation under arthroscopy (group II). Follow-up assessments included imaging evaluation, Lysholm knee score, International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) classification, and the Lachman test. Bone union was found in radiographic evaluation in all patients within 3 months. At the last follow-up, there was neither extension nor flexion limitation in any patient. There were no significant differences in the Lysholm score between the two groups at follow-up. All 42 patients were classified by the IKDC as normal or nearly normal. Stability based on the Lachman test showed two patients of grade II laxity in group I. At the final follow-up, all 42 patients had returned to their pre-injury activities. Cable fixation to treat type III tibial eminence avulsion fracture can provide a clinical outcome equal to that of Ethibond sutures. IV.

In order to improve efficiency of biomass gas purification of venturi scrubber, a test apparatus of the square section venturi scrubber was established to purify biomass gas. On the basis of analysis of the surge flow and the model selection of the standard k e − model, and suing CFD software, the inner flow field of biomass gas purification of the square section venturi scrubber was simulated, the internal pressure features and the speed features of the square section venturi scrubber were obtained. Compared to circular section venturi scrubber, the square section venturi scrubber has big turbulence intensity in the throat, and there will be flow back at the end of the pipe, which makes the tar particles inside the biomass gas better adsorption, so as to achieve better effect of decoking.

Oviduct tubal motility is thought to be controlled by hormones and nerves and has been associated with endometriosis. However, it is still not known whether the fallopian tubes in women with endometriosis demonstrate an abnormal distribution of nerve fibers. The objective of this study was to determine the distribution of nerve fibers in the oviduct isthmus in women with and without endometriosis. Histological sections of the oviduct isthmus tissues were obtained from women undergoing hysterectomy for endometriosis (n=24) and other benign gynecologic diseases (n=24). The tissues were immunohistochemically stained for protein gene product (PGP) 9.5, substance P (SP), neuropeptide Y (NPY), and vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) to reveal all nerve fibers, sensory nerve fibers and sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve fibers. Nerve fibers stained with PGP9.5, VIP and NPY in the oviduct isthmus were all significantly decreased in women with endometriosis as compared with women without endometriosis (P
