BACKGROUND Lateral facial clefts are atypical with a low incidence in the facial cleft spectrum. With the development of ultrasonography (US) prenatal screening, such facial malformations can be detected and diagnosed prenatally rather than at birth. Although three-dimensional US (3DUS) can render the fetus' face via 3D reconstruction, the 3D images are displayed on two-dimensional screens without field depth, which impedes the understanding of untrained individuals. In contrast, a 3D-printed model of the fetus' face helps both parents and doctors develop a more comprehensive understanding of the facial malformation by creating more interactive aspects. Herein, we present an isolated lateral facial cleft case that was diagnosed via US combined with a 3D-printed model. CASE SUMMARY A 31-year-old G2P1 patient presented for routine prenatal screening at the 22nd wk of gestation. The coronal nostril-lip section of two-dimensional US (2DUS) demonstrated that the fetus' bilateral oral commissures were asymmetrical, and left oral commissure was abnormally wide. The left oblique-coronal section showed a cleft at the left oral commissure which extended to the left cheek. The results of 3DUS confirmed the cleft. Furthermore, we created a model of the fetal face using 3D printing technology, which clearly presented facial malformations. The fetus was diagnosed with a left lateral facial cleft, which was categorized as a No. 7 facial cleft according to the Tessier facial cleft classification. The parents terminated the pregnancy at the 24th wk of gestation after parental counseling. CONCLUSION In the diagnostic course of the current case, in addition to the traditional application of 2D and 3DUS, we created a 3D-printed model of the fetus, which enhanced diagnostic evidence, benefited the education of junior doctors, improved parental counseling, and had the potential to guide surgical planning.

Previous studies have indicated that transient receptor potential (TRP) channels can influence cancer development. The TRPC subfamily consists of seven subtypes, TRPC1 − TRPC7. Interestingly, the expression levels of TRPC1 have been shown to be totally different in different breast cancer cell lines. Nevertheless, the underlying mechanism remains unknown. In this study, we explore the significance of TRPC1 expression in breast cancer. Immunohistochemical TRPC1 staining was performed in 278 samples. TRPC1 expression in different breast tissues were examined. Then, the influence of TRPC1 on migration, invasion and proliferation was explored. We analyzed the protein of TRPC1 by Western blot to prove which pathway may be involved in. Finally, we use online database to predict the prognosis of TRPC1 in breast cancer. Through immunohistochemistry and in vitro experiments, we found that the expression level of TRPC1 was higher in breast cancer cells as compared with that in normal breast epithelial cells. Moreover, the expression level of TRPC1 was different between estrogen receptor-positive (ER +) and -negative (ER −) breast cancer. It was shown that TRPC1 inhibited MCF7 cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro. Western blotting revealed that TRPC1 inhibited the PI3K/AKT pathway and epithelium−mesenchymal transformation, leading to subsequent inhibition of cell proliferation and metastasis. In luminal A and luminal B patients, those with high TRPC1 expression had a better prognosis. On the contrary, in basal-like and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) subtypes, patients with high-TRPC1 expression had a worse prognosis. We confirmed that TRPC1 was high expression in breast cancer. Overexpression of TRPC1 inhibits proliferation and migration of ER + breast cancer and gives a better prognosis by inhibiting PI3K/AKT pathway activation. TRPC1 may be an independent prognostic predictor in breast cancer patients.

L oilfield is a layered sandstone gas cap oilfield controlled by structure. The gas is on the top of the structure. On the plane, the oil and gas are distributed in a ring belt, and the area of gas cap from top to bottom is gradually smaller. In the early stage of development, in order to maintain the stability of oil-gas interface and prevent oil and gas channeling, a certain width of unperforated oil ring is left outside the gas cap as a buffer zone for oil and gas migration. At present, the whole oilfield has entered the stage of ultra-high water cut development. In order to effectively develop the reserves in buffer zone and explore the reasonable development mode of the gas cap reservoir, reservoir structure, development characteristics, migration law of oil and gas in buffer zone and distribution characteristics of remaining oil potential were fully considered, and the development effects of different flooding methods such as water injection barriers, polymer injection barriers, gas flooding, water flooding, were comprehensively compared. The development mode of polymer injection barrier is optimized through comprehensive comparison. It is estimated that the recovery ratio will be increased by more than 20% points, which can provide important technical reserves for the effective development of layered gas cap reservoirs in ultra-high water cut stage.

Background and ObjectivesIn China, over 90% of esophageal cancer (EC) cases are esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). ESCC is a frequently malignant tumor with poor prognosis despite the development of comprehensive therapeutic strategies, for which there is still a lack of effective prognostic factors. Previous studies found that the abnormal expression of TRPC1 is closely related to the proliferation, invasion, metastasis, and differentiation of various tumors. However, the relationship between TRPC1 and ESCC is currently unclear. The present study aimed to clarify the clinical significance of TRPC1 and to preliminarily assess the molecular mechanism by which TRPC1 regulates cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in ESCC.Materials and MethodsImmunohistochemistry (IHC) was used to determine the expression of TRPC1 and Ki-67 in 165 cases of ESCC. The correlations between TRPC1 expression and clinicopathological characteristics were determined, and both univariate and multivariate analyses were utilized to quantify the impact of TRPC1 expression on patient survival. Cell Counting Kit-8, scratch wound healing, and transwell assays were used to determine the effects of TRPC1 on proliferation, migration, and invasion in ESCC in vitro, respectively.ResultsThe positive expression rate of TRPC1 showed significantly decreased in ESCC (45.50%) compared with the levels in normal esophageal mucosa (NEM; 80.80%) and high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (HGIEN; 63.20%) (PPrs= 0.232, P=0.003), and low Ki-67 (rs = −0.492, PP=0.001; Overall survival, OS: 95% CI=0.553–0.891, P=0.004). Furthermore, we showed that downregulation of TRPC1 promoted the proliferation, migration, and invasion of human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cell line EC9706 in vitro. In contrast, overexpression of TRPC1 inhibited the proliferation, migration, and invasion of human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cell line KYSE150 (PConclusionTRPC1 inhibited the proliferation, migration, and invasion of EC9706 and KYSE150 cells, at least, in part mediated through the AKT/p27 pathway in vitro. The downregulation of TRPC1 may be one of the most important molecular events in the malignant progression of ESCC. TRPC1 could be a new candidate tumor suppressor gene and a new prognostic factor of ESCC.

The ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 poses a great threat to human beings. Although numerous patients have recovered, re-positive cases have been reported in several countries. Till now, we still know very little about the disease and its pathogen severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Therefore, more attention should be paid to the following aspects, such as post-discharge surveillance, asymptomatic infection, re-evaluation of influenza-like symptoms, and dynamic monitoring of genomic mutation of SARS-CoV-2.

The gut microbiota is important in metabolism and immune modulation, and compositional disruption of the gut microbiota population is closely associated with inflammation caused by ionizing radiation (IR). Guiqi Baizhu decoction (GQBZD) is a medicinal compound used in traditional Chinese medicine with anti-inflammatory and antioxidation effects, especially in the process of radiotherapy. However, the effect of GQBZD on reducing the damage to the normal immune system in radiotherapy remains unclear. Here, we show that GQBZD reduces body weights, water intake, food intake, diarrhea level and quality of life score, and inflammation and enhances immunity function in rats treated with X-ray radiation. Meanwhile, our data indicate that GQBZD not only reverses IR-induced gut dysbiosis as indicated change of α-diversity and β-diversity of microbiota, the composition of Desulfovibrio, Bacteroides, and Parabacteroides, except for Roseburia and Lachnoclostridium, but also maintains intestinal barrier integrity and promoting the formation of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). GQBZD can also reduce the level of phosphorylation P65 (p-P65). Our results demonstrate that GQBZD can significantly alleviate the inflammatory responses and improve the immune damage against IR, and may be used as prebiotic agents to prevent gut dysbiosis and radiation-related metabolic disorders in radiotherapy.

Background and Purpose— 1/2ABC has been used widely for assessing the volume of intracerebral hematoma. However, it is only suitable for calculating regular and small volume hematomas. Therefore, we re-explored the formula of hematoma volume to find a method that can calculate hematoma volumes accurately, reliably, and quickly. Methods— Computed tomography imaging data of 257 patients with intracerebral hemorrhage were collected. Hematoma volumes were estimated using 3-dimensional Slicer and 7 formulas (π/6ABC, 1/2ABC, 1/3ABC, 2/3SH, 1/2SH, π/6SH, and 2.5/6ABC). Taking the hematoma volumes measured by 3-dimensional Slicer as the reference standard, the accuracy and reliability of the 7 formulas were evaluated. Furthermore, the time needed to calculate hematoma volumes by the 1/2SH method was noted for further analysis. Results— (1) The accuracy of the 7 formulas based on the error analysis from the highest to the lowest was: π/6SH, 1/2SH, 2.5/6ABC, 1/3ABC, 1/2ABC, and π/6ABC or 2/3SH. According to concordance analysis and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, the results from the highest to lowest were as follows: 1/2SH, π/6SH, 2.5/6ABC, 1/3ABC, 1/2ABC, 2/3SH, and π/6ABC. After categorizing cases according to size, shape, and location of hematoma, the results were almost the same as the results for overall accuracy evaluation in any subgroup. (2) Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of 1/2SH in intra and inter-researcher were 0.998 and 0.989, respectively. For the formula π/6SH, intraclass correlation coefficient was the same as that of 1/2ABC. Kappa values of 1/2SH for intra- and inter-observer were 0.992 and 0.913, respectively. For π/6SH, kappa values of within- and between-reader were 0.984 and 0.904, respectively. (3) The average time taken to calculate hematoma volumes by 1/2SH was 74 seconds. Conclusions— The 1/2SH and π/6SH are accurate, reliable, and rapid methods for calculating hematoma volumes. The accuracy and reliability of 1/2SH were slightly higher than those of π/6SH.

Furthermore, the developed gastroretentive drug delivery system was evaluated by in vivo tests. A high-performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) method for detecting the concentration of glycerol trioleate in the pharmacokinetic study was applied.Results: The antitumor activity of BJO was stronger than that of the marketed preparation; the 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) values of BJO extracts on HGC27, SGC7901 and BGC823 gastric carcinoma were 0.3091, 1.736 and 2.743 μg/mL, respectively, whereas the values of marked BJO preparation were 15.26, 32.60 and 7.456 μg/mL, respectively. Histopathological studies demonstrated the ability of BJO to locally prevent and treat absolute ethanol-induced gastric ulcer. Developed BJO gastroretentive floating bead showed a satisfactory in vivo study. The highest glycerol trioleate concentration in the stomach after taking BJO gastroretentive floating bead was nearly two times higher when compared to the marketed BJO soft capsule.Conclusion: Self-made BJO has a strong therapeutic effect on the stomach, and gastroretentive drug delivery system can be a promising approach to prolong and enhance its therapy ability when treating gastric diseases. Introduction Gap junctions (GJs) represent the best known intercellular communication (IC) system and are membrane-spanning channels that facilitate intercellular communication by allowing small signaling molecules to pass from cell to cell. In this study, we constructed an amino terminus of human Cx43 (Cx43NT-GFP), verified the overexpression of Cx43-NT in HUVEC cells and explored the impact of gap junctions (GJs) on multiple myeloma (MM). Material and methods The levels of phosphorylated Cx43(s368) and the change of MAPK pathway associated molecules (ERK1/2, JNK, p38, NFκB) were also investigated in our cell models. Cx43 mRNA and proteins were detected in both MM cell lines and mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Dye transfer assays demonstrated that gap junction intercellular communication (GJIC) occurring via Cx43 situated between MM and MSCs or MM and HUVECCx43NT is functional. Results Our results present evidence for a channel-dependent modulator action of connexin 43 on the migratory activity of MM cells toward MSCs or HUVECCx43-N was higher than those of spontaneous migration (p < 0.05) and protection them from apoptosis in the presence of dexamethasone via cytokines secretion. In the meantime, the migration of MM cells involves an augmented response of p38 and JNK signaling pathway of carboxyl tail of the protein. Conclusions Our data suggest that GJIC between MM and MSCs is one of the essential factors in tumor cell proliferation and drug sensitivity, and is implicated in MM pathogenesis.

Objective Deoxyribonucleic acid methylation is an important epigenetic modification that is frequently altered in cancer. Recent reports showed that the level of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine was altered in various types of cancers. The influence of deoxyribonucleic acid methylation in cervical squamous cell carcinoma is not fully understood. In this study, we investigated 5-hydroxymethylcytosine and ten-eleven translocation expression in cervical squamous cell carcinoma and whether they are associated with poor survival in cervical squamous cell carcinoma. Methods We detected the expression of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine, 5-methylcytosine and TET1/2/3 in 140 patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma and 40 patients with normal cervical tissues by immunohistochemistry. We assessed the prognostic values of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine, 5-methylcytosine and TET2 in the clinical outcome of cervical squamous cell carcinoma. Results Expression of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine was significantly decreased in cervical squamous cell carcinoma compared with normal cervix tissues. In contrast, 5-methylcytosine expression was significantly increased in cervical squamous cell carcinoma compared with normal cervix tissues. Moreover, expression of TET2, but not TET1 and TET3, was decreased in cervical squamous cell carcinoma. Our study showed that the decreased level of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine predicts poor prognosis of cervical squamous cell carcinoma patients. The expression of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine was an independent prognostic factor for both disease-free and overall survival of cervical squamous cell carcinoma patients. Conclusions In cervical squamous cell carcinoma, less aggressive tumor behavior was correlated with 5-hydroxymethylcytosine and TET2. Our data indicated that 5-hydroxymethylcytosine may become a prognostic marker for cervical squamous cell carcinoma and the decreased expression of TET2 may be an underlying mechanism for decreased 5-hmC in cervical squamous cell carcinoma.

Objectives: To investigate the dynamic change of follicular T helper cells (TFH) in patients with malignant lymphoid disease (MLD) and to explore its clinical significance.Methods: The dynamic change of TFH cells, ICOS+- and PD-1+ TFH cells at pretreatment and different treatment periods was determined by flow cytometry in 85 MLD patients. Concentration of interleukin 21 (IL-21) was evaluated by ELISA, and the correlation between clinical prognosis and the ratio of TFH cells was analyzed.Results: Significantly increased ICOS+- and PD-1+ TFH cells were found in MLD patients at pretreatment compared to healthy controls. Decreased or even close to normal levels of ICOS+- and PD-1+ TFH cells were found at the end of treatment. However, in the patients with progressive disease, high levels of ICOS+- and PD-1+ TFH cells were found. Moreover, a significantly increased plasma IL-21 level was found in MLD patients. With the development of long distance power transmission in China, Jiangsu, Guangdong and many other places have seen significantly geomagnetic induced current (GIC) in power grid . GIC could bring about great harm to power grid. To study the effect of GIC on power grid, the calculation of the GIC should be done firstly. In this paper, several kinds of GIC calculation model are summarized and analyzed, their advantages and disadvantages are pointed out, And further discusses the finite element algorithm of GIC. Shortcomings of the present situation of GIC calculation are analyzed, and the research direction suitable for the actual situation f is proposed.

The structure of Wall-slab is composed of slab and shear wall, and only in the outer wall part are the shear wall connected by a coupling beam. The floor and shear wall can bear vertical force and horizontal lateral force together. While under the situation of irregular bearing form shear wall and irregular partition loads, tablet computing becomes an urgent problem. Aiming at this problem, the model which is one layer of floor of Wall system has been used for analysis through the Safe software. In the condition of different thickness of slabs, exploratory results can get about the slab deformations, stresses and reinforcement ratios. On the basis of the Mechanics and Kinematics analysis of built-in chatter suppression boring bar, the research analyzes the motional stability of built-in chatter suppression boring bar, and uses SIMS vibration absorbers for chatter suppression theory to design the characteristic parameters of vibration absorber; then with MATLAB optimized to get structural material parameters of vibration absorber; finally conduct harmonic response analysis to built two-dimensional model of built-in chatter suppression boring bar by ANSYS, compare and optimize the results to guide the development of built-in chatter suppression boring bar.

The cervical facet joint capsule is the major origin of neck pain. To in vivo test the cervical facet capsule strain, a flexible, miniature strain gauge was developed. A special liquid metal served as the strain sensitive element, and a tubular structure was selected as the configuration of this miniature strain gauge. Calibration tests and rear-end crash simulation experiments were performed to analyses the behavior of this new gauge. A physical head-neck model or living goat model was used as a human surrogate. Experiment results indicated the good linearity and stability of this miniature strain gauge. With the improvement of structural designs and manufacturing techniques, the miniature strain gauge stated in this paper has the potential to in vivo test the cervical facet capsule strain.

Neck finite element models have been extensively applied to design and validate the artificial biomaterials. To date, many finite element models of European-American neck have been proposed. However, the issue that using the geometrical scaling to convert a western model into a Chinese neck model is highly controversial. A Chinese neck model, based on MRI/CT scan images and frozen slice images from a 35-year old male cadaver, was established in this paper to examine the geometrical difference between Chinese and European-American cervical vertebrae. Results showed that at every level of all cervical vertebrae except C2, a significant difference between the geometrical model of the Chinese and European-American cervical vertebrae was revealed. The authors suggested that there might be a significant difference between the Chinese and European-American cervical vertebrae.

The rear-end crash pulse generator has been considered to be a key device for performing car impact safety research under laboratory conditions. According to the international regulation, ECE R44, the polyurethane (PU) tube was recommended to produce a standard rear-end pulse. However, little literatures on the impact dynamics of PU tube were known. In this study, a was established under ANSYS/LS-DYNA. With this finite element model, the following conditions to generate the standard rear-end impact pulses were determined: the initial impact velocity of sled was 30km/h, the resultant mass of sled was 680kg, number of PU-tubes was three, and outer diameter of olive knob was 46mm. Compared with the standard deceleration-time curve of actual rear-end crash, this finite element model of rear-end crash pulse generator was preliminarily validated.

This work reports the extraordinary transmission of THz waves through free-standing multi-walled carbon nanotubes film with two-dimensional arrays of rectangular apertures in the broad frequency range from 0.1 to 2.5 THz. The film shows anisotropic transmission of THz waves that is dependent on the orientation of carbon nanotube and the polarization direction of the THz wave.

a fluorine functionalized 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, 3-ethyl-2-(2-fluorophenyl) imidazo[4,5-f]1,10-phenanthroline(EFPIP) and the corresponding red-emitting Eu(ΙΙΙ) complex Eu(DBM)3(EFPIP) (DBM = dibenzoylmethanate) was synthesized and the photophysical properties and electroluminescent(EL) performances were researched. When Eu(DBM)3(EFPIP) was used as emitting material in organic devices, the maximum efficiency and luminance of red emission achieved from the EL device with the configuration of ITO/m-MTDATA (30 nm)/NPB (20 nm)/ x wt% Eu(DBM)3(EFPIP) doped in CBP (30 nm)/Bphen (20 nm)/Alq3 (20 nm)/LiF (0.8 nm)/Al were 3.6 cd/A and 563 cd/m2, respectively. Compared with the previously reported devices based on methyl or chlorine substitute Eu(ΙΙΙ) complexes, the EL performances of the device using Eu(DBM)3(EFPIP) as an emitter was significantly enhanced due to the introduction of fluorine.

The vehicle routing planning in the process of logistics is a hot issue. There is a lack of traditional genetic algorithm used to solve this issue, so the taboos is introduced to improve it. The improved genetic algorithm based on taboos get high-search speed compared to the traditional genetic algorithm, and this improvement is verified by the example.

To assess the effectiveness of Tongjiang Granule (TJG, 通降颗粒) on the patients with nonerosive reflux disease (NERD) of Gan (肝)-Wei (胃) incoordination syndrome, its impact on their quality of life, and its safety. A randomized, controlled, double-blinded, and double-dummy method was adopted in the trial. There were 120 NERD patients enrolled in the study and randomly divided into the experiment and control groups, each with 60 patients; drugs were distributed according to the drug number by patients’ inclusion sequences. In the experiment group, patients were given TJG 10 g and mosapride citrate dummy 5 mg three times a day, and in the control group, patients were given mosapride citrate 5 mg and TJG dummy 10 g three times a day. The treatment courses of both groups were 4 weeks. Among 120 included patients, 112 were screened for full analysis set (FAS), and 105 were screened per-protocol set (PPS). The results were as follows: (1) the improvement of total scores of symptom in the experiment group (0–4 week) were 15.93±7.88 scores by FAS and 16.22 ±7.75 scores by PPS, and they were 10.43±10.16 scores and 10.79±10.27 scores in the control group, respectively. The 95% CI of net scores improvement between the two groups were 2.10–8.90 scores and 1.92–8.94 scores in FAS and PPS; it was significantly better in the experiment group than that in the control group (P

The solubilization of small molecules from coal by solvent extraction and the resulting effects on the pore distribution of a low rank coal were studied. Samples were extracted, in succession, with petroleum ether and with CS2. Extract and residue fractions collected during the solubilization process were analyzed by FTIR and by surface area and porosimetry. The results show that an obvious inflection point exists that allows separating the dissolution sequence into stages. Small molecules are first extracted from the free state, then molecules trapped in micropores are extracted and, finally, molecules trapped in the coal-matrix network are extracted. This is indicated from the extraction yield curves. Chain-like carbonyl compounds, -OH (or -NH) containing compounds that are hydrogen bonded and phenolics dominate the petroleum ether extracts. Chain-like carbonyl components and ether compounds (aliphatic ethers and aromatic ethers) dominate the CS2 extracts. A solvent dissolution mechanism and the effect of small molecule extraction on the pore structure are put forward. Diffusion, dissolution, pore opening, pore shrinking or even collapsing caused by swelling, creating of new micropores, pore opening and, finally, colloidallization of some micropores occurs. In the later stages of the extraction the internal structure of the coal is colloidallized due to swelling and the pore number or volume is greatly reduced.

A blue light-emitting material, 2-(N-ethyl-anthraceneyl-9) imidazo [4,5-f] 1,10-phenanthroline (EAIP), has been synthesized and characterized by 1 H NMR, IR, elemental and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The results of theoretical calculations indicate that the HOMO and LUMO distributions mainly locate at the anthracene fragment. It displays bright blue emission in both solid state and dichloromethane solution. The emission quantum yield calculated is 0.76.

Four different groups of components were separated from coal under mild conditions of extraction and stripping process. Within these groups, and with pre-separation, individual utilization of all coal components can be realized, similar to petroleum components and enhance the inherent value and utilization value of coal, as well as increase environmental benefits. The characteristics of each component were analyzed with measurements by FTIR, GC/MS, TEM and the establishment of caking properties. The results show that coal can be separated into residues, ultra-pure coal, asphaltene components and light components by adding solvents for stripping into the CS2/NMP mixed extraction solution. Those four groups of components present great differences in the presence of carbon and hydrogen elements, in the structure of functional groups, in their macroscopic structure and micro-morphology and caking properties. Every component possesses its own inherent values and approaches. A new idea of coal processes and utilization, similar to the use of petroleum is proposed.

A new europium(III) complex, tris(dibenzoylmethanate){1-[9-hexyl-9-carbazole]-2-(2-pyridyl)-benzimidazole}europium(III) [Eu(DBM)3(CPyBM)] was synthesized and used as an electron-acceptor and electron-transport layer in organic photovoltaic (PV) device. Power conversion efficiency achieved from the device was 1.04% under illumination with 365 nm UV light at 1.6 mW/cm2. Compared with the previous reported devices based on Eu(III) complexes, the PV performances were improved. The working mechanism of the organic PV device was discussed.

DNA methylation is an important epigenetic modification that is frequently altered in cancer. Recent reports showed that the level of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5-hmC) was altered in various types of cancers. The influence of DNA methylation in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is not fully understood. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate factors involved in DNA demethylation in EOC compared with normal ovarian tissues.We examined the expression of 5-hmC, 5-mC, and TET2 by immunohistochemistry in 130 cases of EOC and 40 cases of normal ovarian tissues. We assessed the prognostic values of 5-hmC, 5-mC, and TET2 in clinical outcome of EOC.We discovered a significant decrease in 5-hmC and TET2 expression in EOC compared with normal ovarian tissues. In contrast, there was a significant increase in 5-mC expression in EOC compared with normal ovarian tissues. The expression of 5-hmC, 5-mC, and TET2 correlated with pathologic stage, tumor grading, lymph node metastasis, and vascular thrombosis. Furthermore, decreased level of 5-hmC predicts poor prognosis of EOC patients. The expression of 5-hmC was an independent prognostic factor for overall survival of EOC patients.The data suggest that loss of 5-hmC is an epigenetic event of EOC, and the expression of 5-hmC could serve as a prognostic factor for EOC.

This study aimed to evaluate the long-term outcomes after percutaneous microwave ablation (MWA) for patients with initial recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) measuring ≤5 cm in diameter after hepatectomy. From May 2005 to December 2011, 89 patients with 116 initial recurrent HCCs after hepatectomy treated with percutaneous MWA were included in the study. One mo after MWA, the complete ablation rate was 91.0% (81/89). At 1, 3, 5 and 7 y, the respective overall and recurrence-free survival rates after percutaneous MWA were 73.3%, 53.7%, 39.6% and 17.3% and 58.5%, 26.4%, 22.0% and 11.0%. The cumulative incidence of local tumor progression (LTP) and the intra-hepatic distant recurrence (IDR)–free survival rates after MWA were 9.1%, 14.6%, 18.3% and 18.3% and 62.9%, 32.3%, 26.9% and 13.5% at 1, 3, 5 and 7 y, respectively. The multivariate analysis indicated that multiple tumors ( p = 0.006), a poor Child-Pugh score ( p = 0.003), serum α-fetoprotein (AFP) >100 ng/mL ( p = 0.002), and MWA treatment failure ( p = 0.000) were risk factors that significantly affected overall survival, and MWA treatment failure ( p = 0.000) was a risk factor that significantly affected IDR-free survival. In conclusion, percutaneous MWA is an effective therapeutic technique for initial recurrent HCC measuring ≤5 cm in diameter after hepatectomy.

Abstract We report a 32-year-old Outer Mongolian man, with plasmablastic lymphoma (PBL) primarily occured in the central nervous system and diagnosed by surgical resection. This patient appeared headache and Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed multiple lesions in the right cerebral hemisphere including the right frontal-parietal lobe and right basal ganglia and the left cerebellum, he was diagnosed as lymphoma by stereotactic biopsy in January 2009 in local hospital, and was given radiotherapy 33 times after the biopsy. The patient was admitted to The Military General Hospital of Beijing PLA., Beijing, P.R. China on March 9th, 2011, with chief complaints of right limbs convulsioned suddenly, then fell down and lose of his consciousness, then awoke after 4 to 5 minutes, with symptoms of angulus oris numbness and the right upper limb powerless ten days ago. MRI of the brain revealed a well-defined hyperdense and enhancing mass in the left frontal-parietal lobe, the meninges are closely related, there was extensive peritumoural edema noted with pressure effects, as evident by effacement of the left lateral ventricles and a 0.5 cm shift of the midline to the right side. Surgical resection showed markedly atypical, large singly dispersed or cohesive proliferation of plasmacytoid cells with frequent abnormal mitoses and binucleation, some neoplastic cells were large with round or oval nuclei and showed coarse chromatin and smaller or unapparent nucleoli, some neoplastic cells with prominent nucleoli, apoptosis and necrosis were often presented. Immunohistochemistry staining and gene rearrangement together with other supportive investigation confirmed the diagnosis of primary central nervous system plasmablastic lymphoma. A month later, he was started on chemotherapy with R-CHOP (rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, leurocristime and prednisone) for a week. Other supportive treatment was provided for symptomatic epilepsy. The patient regained muscle strength in both upper limbs and right lower limb and the symptomatic epilepsy was controlled after two weeks. Then the patient was discharged. Follow-up data shows the patient to be alive eleven months after discharge. The safety of geniposide, mainly focusing on its hepatotoxicity in rats, was determined by liver enzymes in serum and histopathology ultrastructural preparation. The lethal dose, 50% (LD50) of per oral geniposide was 1431.1 mg kg(-1). The acute toxicity study indicated geniposide at dose of 574 mg kg(-1) or more could cause hepatic toxicity in rats and the hepatotoxicity often appeared at 24-48 h after the oral administration. The hepatotoxicity was associated with oxidative stress with decrease of total superoxide dismutase activity and increase of malondialdehyde concentration in rats' livers. Subchronic toxicity study showed geniposide did not cause hepatotoxicity at the doses of 24.3 and 72.9 mg kg(-1) orally for 90 days in rats. Thus, acute hepatotoxicity of geniposide at high doses was likely to be linked to oxidative stress, while geniposide at normal dose of 24.3 mg kg(-1) or less did not cause hepatotoxicity even in the repeated dosing study.

One hundred cases of toe transfer were subjected to histopathologic vessel examination. Results indicated that vascular injuries are crucially responsible for perioperative and postoperative crisis. A thorough resection of the abnormal vessel segment can prevent circulatory crisis and elevate the survival rate.

In the electricity market of imperfect competition, the behavior of generation bidding is affected by many risk factors, which include fuel price, weather condition, load forecasting and so on. The potential impact of bidding strategy is quantitative calculation, which adapted from risk factors; the risk management on bidding strategy choice is brought forward, and considering the diversity of risk preference due to difference decision makers. The correctness and necessity is proved by numeral example.

A modified Krukenberg operation was used in 25 patients to reconstruct their limb function. We modified the operation as follows: (1) only pronator teres and supinator are preserved as motor muscles, (2) the flexor carpi ulnaris is included in the ulnar ray flap and the brachioradialis in the radial ray flap, and (3) the length of the forearm trunk is kept 12 to 15 cm. Having undergone strict postoperative training, 22 of 25 patients got excellent or good results.

The electronic structures and optical properties of intrinsic β-Ga2O3 and Zn-doped β-Ga2O3 are investigated by first-principles calculations. The analysis about the thermal stability shows that Zn-doped β-Ga2O3 remains stable. The Zn doping does not change the basic electronic structure of β-Ga2O3, but only generates an empty energy level above the maximum of the valence band, which is shallow enough to make the Zn-doped β-Ga2O3 a typical p-type semiconductor. Because of Zn doping, absorption and reflectivity are enhanced in the near infrared region. The higher absorption and reflectivity of ZnGa(2) than those of ZnGa(1) are due to more empty energy states of ZnGa(2) than those of ZnGa(1) near Ef in the near infrared region.

Bony schwannoma is a rare benign tumor derived from schwann cells of nerve fibers in the bone. It accounts for less than 1% of bony benign tumor, and prone to occur in the sacrum and mandible, occurrence in scapula is very rare. Here we report a 42-year-old woman with the chief complaint of pain in the left scapula. Imaging examination showed a giant, irregular, swelling lesion with distinct border involving the left scapula, extending into the left shoulder glenoid and pressing the surrounding soft tissues. Needle biopsy showed that the tumor was composed of spindle cells with S-100 protein positive, mimicking a benign neurogenic tumor. Then a complete excision was performed by removing the tumor and the surrounding tissues including partial left shoulder glenoid. Histologically, Antoni type A areas were the predominant microscopic pattern with occasional alternation by Antoni type B areas. Immunohistochemistry found that the neoplastic cells were scatteredly positive for S-100 protein. All these features suggest a diagnosis of an intraosseous schwannoma of the left scapula. Follow-up of the patient for ten months found no recurrence or sign of other tumors following complete tumor resection without any adjuvant therapy. In conclusion, this case of giant intraosseous schwannoma of the scapula is a rare benign bony tumor, and its diagnosis combined with clinical, imaging and pre-operative needle biopsy is important to guide further therapy, and avoid overtreatment.
