In the SIKE implementation, the Montgomery representation has been mostly adopted in the finite field arithmetic computing as the corresponding reduction algorithm is considered the fastest method for implementing the modular reduction. In this paper, we propose a new data representation for the supersingular isogeny-based elliptic-curve cryptography (ECC), of which the SIKE is a subclass. The new representation can facilitate faster modular reduction implementation than the Montgomery reduction. Meanwhile, the other finite field arithmetic operations in the ECC can also benefit from the proposed data representation. We have implemented all the arithmetic operations in C language with constant execution time based on our proposed data representation and applied them to the newest SIKE software library. Targeting at the SIKEp751, we run our design and the optimized generic implementation on a 2.6GHz Intel Xeon E5-2690 processor. The experiment results show that for the parameters of SIKEp751, the proposed modular reduction algorithm is about 2.61x faster than the best Montgomery one and our scheme also performs significantly better for the other finite field operations. With these improvements, the overall software implementation for the SIKEp751 achieves about 1.65x speedup compared to the state-of-the-art generic implementatio

The optimal cutoff point for evaluating the prognosis of localized renal cell carcinoma (LRCC) remains unclear. This study aimed to verify the efficacy of tumor diameter in the 2010 American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) TNM staging system and contribute to the modification of TNM staging on the prognosis of this disease. A total of 3748 patients with LRCC were enrolled and grouped according to the 2010 AJCC TNM staging system. COX analysis was used to stratify the prognosis. The optimal cutoff point of the tumor diameter in the T1 and T2 prognosis was explored. There were 3330 (88.9%) patients in stage T1 and 418 (11.1%) in stage T2. The cancer-specific mortality rate was 2.7% (100/3748). The mean follow-up was 49.8 months. A tumor diameter of 7 cm can determine the prognosis of patients at stages T1 and T2; however, 4.5 cm and 11 cm as the cutoff points for T1 and T2 sub-classification of patients with LRCC might show better recognition ability than 4 cm and 10 cm, respectively. The 2010 AJCC TNM stage can predict the prognosis of LRCC in stages T1 and T2. In addition, a tumor diameter of 4.5 cm and 11 cm might be the optimal cutoff points for the sub-classification of stages T1 and T2.

The huge size of deep neural networks makes it difficult to deploy on the embedded platforms with limited computation resources directly. In this paper, we propose a novel trimming approach to determine the redundant parameters of the trained deep neural network in a layer-wise manner to produce a compact neural network. This is achieved by minimizing a nonconvex sparsity-inducing term of the network parameters while maintaining the response close to the original one. We present a proximal iteratively reweighted method to resolve the resulting nonconvex model, which approximates the nonconvex objective by a weighted l1 norm of the network parameters. Moreover, to alleviate the computational burden, we develop a novel termination criterion during the subproblem solution, significantly reducing the total pruning time. Global convergence analysis and a worst-case O(1/k) ergodic convergence rate for our proposed algorithm is established. Numerical experiments demonstrate the proposed approach is efficient and reliable.

Due to the strong nonstationary characteristics of seismic signals, energy criteria-based methods are not robust for detecting moving targets, especially in data with low SNRs. To address this problem, we propose a new method for detecting ground moving target based on fractal dimension (FD) theory named FD-based support vector machine (FD-SVM). In this method, seismic signals are first measured by fractals, which can effectively extract seismic nonlinear features. These fractal features are then fed into an SVM to distinguish moving targets from noise. Two data sets are used to evaluate the proposed method. One is a set of seismic signals induced by wheeled and tracked vehicles. The other is a set of seismic signals generated by human footsteps. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed FD-SVM algorithm achieves promising results on both data sets. Compared with the benchmark methods, the FD-SVM algorithm achieves a better precision rate, recall rate, and F1 score.

Moving target recognition is a critical task for a variety of applications, ranging from environmental monitoring to regional security protection. Recently, many deep learning (DL) methods have been proposed to recognize the seismic features of moving targets. However, the established DL algorithms are mainly challenged by time-consuming feature extraction and lack of robustness. In this article, a novel moving target recognition method [Compression Observation-Seismic DL (CO-SDL)] is proposed to solve the above two problems simultaneously. CO-SDL first uses a measurement matrix to project the seismic signal onto a compressed domain and obtain compressed seismic measurements. This operation removes redundant data while retaining valuable seismic information and suppressing noise energy. Following that, CO-SDL efficiently and stably extracts deep nonlinear features from compressed seismic measurements and then accurately classifies the feature vectors. To evaluate the proposed method, a comprehensive seismic dataset is developed. This dataset covers six types of common moving targets, and the SNR ranges of all signal types are greater than 15 dB. The proposed method and the benchmark methods are tested on this dataset. Experimental results prove that the presented CO-SDL method is ten times faster than the state-of-the-art methods with comparable accuracy. Furthermore, the CO-SDL method shows the strongest robustness.

Autophagy is a highly conserved process for maintaining cellular homeostasis. Upregulation of autophagy promotes metastasis by promoting the cancer stem cell state while also stimulating tumor cell migration and invasion. We hypothesized that autophagy upregulation would be critical for cancer stem cell maintenance as well as cellular migration and invasion in thyroid cancer.Validated papillary (MDA-T32, MDA-T68), follicular (FTC-133), and anaplastic (ATC-8505c) human thyroid cancer cell lines in culture were first assessed for autophagic capacity after bafilomycin clamping. Cancer stem cells were quantified by flow cytometry for aldehyde dehydrogenase and thyrosphere formation assay. Scratch migration and Matrigel invasion assays were performed in the presence of known autophagy inhibitors: Lys05, chloroquine, and FIP200siRNA.Autophagy activity was observed across all cell lines. Thyrosphere formation, aldehyde dehydrogenase activity, and CD44 expression were reduced with inhibition of autophagy in MDA-T32, MDA-T68, FTC-133, and 8505c cells. Similarly, cell migration and invasion were attenuated: 42% (FIP200siRNA), 78% (Lys05), P.001 in MDA-T32 cells; 54% (FIP200siRNA), 67% (Lys05), P.001 in MDA-T68 cells; 73% (FIP200siRNA), 71% (Lys05), P.001) in FTC-133 cells; and 60% (FIP200siRNA), 90% (Lys05), P.001 in 8505c cells. Invasion assays demonstrated a 73%, 39%, 75%, and 65.1% reduction in the presence of Lys05 in T32, T68, FTC-133, and 8505c cells, respectively. We observed similar reductions in invasion with FIP200siRNA: 61%, 62%, 55%, and 81.4% in T32, T68, FTC-133, and 8505c cells.Autophagy is upregulated across multiple thyroid cancer subtypes. In thyroid cancer cell lines, inhibition of autophagy attenuates cancer stem cell viability, cell migration, and invasion suggesting a role for autophagy in the progression of thyroid cancer. Greater understanding of autophagy regulation in thyroid cancer will aid in developing targeted therapeutics.

Many deep learning methods have been proposed to classify moving targets from seismic signals in recent years. However, the existing deep models are all designed based on the ``end-cloud'' framework, in which real-time data processing is difficult because of communication delays. To address this problem and achieve on-site target classification, we propose a novel edge intelligence-oriented method, named compressed sensing-edge convolutional neural network (CS-ECNN). In this method, the acquired seismic signals are first mapped onto a compressed domain using CS. This operation reduces data dimensions, while being able to retain the vast majority of valuable seismic features. Following that, a convolutional neural network is employed to extract implicit features directly from the compressed seismic measurements and then classify the feature vectors. To evaluate the proposed method, the seismic data recorded in DARPA's SensIT project are used as a case study. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model is edge-matched, and it achieves comparable classification accuracy to the state-of-the-art cloud-based models with only 1/10 computation time.

Statement of problem The immediate loading protocol for 2-implant mandibular overdentures has been widely reported. Nevertheless, the clinical effects reported in different articles are quite different. Purpose The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was to compare the clinical effects of immediate and delayed loading of 2-implant mandibular overdentures. Material and methods The review followed the guidelines of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Embase, Scopus, ScienceDirect, CBM, CNKI, and Wan Fang databases were searched electronically for RCTs published before March 25, 2020. Two authors independently conducted literature screening, quality assessment, and data extraction. The outcomes of interest were implant failure rate, marginal bone loss (MBL), implant stability quotient (ISQ), periotest value (PTV), and patient satisfaction. Results A total of 2498 unduplicated records were identified. After full-text analysis, 7 eligible RCTs were included. All studies were followed for at least 12 months, and the meta-analysis was based on this. The meta-analysis showed that the implant failure rate in the immediate group was higher than that in the delayed group, but there was no statistically significant difference (I2=0%; n=7; risk difference [RD]=0.03; 95% confidence interval [CI]=-0.01 to 0.08). The difference of MBL between immediate and delayed loading was not significant (I2=88%; n=6; mean difference [MD]=-0.04; 95% CI=-0.16 to 0.24). Because of the limited articles reporting on ISQ, PTV, and patient satisfaction, no quantitative analysis was conducted for these outcomes. Conclusions Although the implant failure rate was more likely to favor the delayed group, available evidence indicates no statistical difference in implant failure and marginal bone loss between immediate and delayed loading protocols.

Intrauterine adhesion (IUA) is a common gynaecological disease that develops from infection or trauma. IUA disease may seriously affect the physical and mental health of women of childbearing age, which may lead to symptoms such as hypomenorrhea or infertility. Presently, hysteroscopic transcervical resection of adhesion (TCRA) is the principal therapy for IUAs, although its function in preventing the recurrence of adhesion and preserving fertility is limited. Pharmaceuticals such as hormones and vasoactive agents and the placement of nondegradable stents are the most common postoperative adjuvant therapy methods. However, the repair of injured endometrium is relatively restricted due to the different anatomical structures of the endometrium. Recently, the treatment outcome of IUAs has improved with the advancement of hysteroscopic techniques. In particular, the application of bioactive scaffolds combined with tissue engineering technology has proven to have high therapeutic potential or endometrial repair in IUA treatment. Herein, this review has summarized past therapeutic strategies, including postoperative adjuvant therapy, cell or therapeutic molecular delivery therapy methods and bioactive scaffold-based tissue engineering methods. Therefore, this review presented the recent therapeutic strategies for repairing endometrium treatment and pointed out the issues of clinical concern to provide alternative methods for the management of IUAs.

Background In patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) combined with long bone fracture, the fracture healing is always faster than that of patients with single fracture, which is characterized by more callus growth at the fracture site and even ectopic ossification. Exosomes are nanoscale membrane vesicles secreted by cells, which contain cell-specific proteins, miRNAs, and mRNAs. Methods In this study, we used exosomes as the entry point to explore the mechanism of brain trauma promoting fracture healing. We established a model of tibia fracture with TBI in mice to observe the callus growth and expression of osteogenic factors at the fracture site. Blood samples of model mice were further collected, exosomes in plasma were extracted by ultra-centrifugation method, and then identified and acted on osteoblasts cultured in vitro. The effects of exosomes on osteoblast differentiation at the cell, protein and gene levels were investigated by Western Blot and q-PCR, respectively. Furthermore, miRNA sequencing of exosomes was performed to identify a pattern of miRNAs that were present at increased or decreased levels. Results The results suggested that plasma exosomes after TBI had the ability to promote the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts, which might be due to the increased expression of osteoblast-related miRNA in exosomes. They were transmitted to the osteoblasts at the fracture site, so as to achieve the role of promoting osteogenic differentiation. Conclusion The TBI-derived exosomes may have potential applications for promoting fracture healing in future. The translational potential of this article Plasma exosomes early after TBI have the ability to promote osteoblast proliferation and differentiation. The mechanism may be achieved by miRNA in exosomes. Plasma exosomes may be used as breakthrough clinical treatment for delayed or non-union fractures.

Background. Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is one of the most common aggressive malignant tumors in the urinary system, among which the clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common subtype. The immune-related long noncoding ribonucleic acids (irlncRNAs) which are abundant in immune cells and immune microenvironment (IME) have potential significance in evaluating the prognosis and effects of immunotherapy. The signature based on irlncRNA pairs and independent of the exact expression level seems to have a latent predictive significance for the prognosis of patients with malignant tumors but has not been applied in ccRCC yet. Method. In this article, we retrieved The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database for the transcriptome profiling data of the ccRCC and performed coexpression analysis between known immune-related genes (ir-genes) and lncRNAs to find differently expressed irlncRNA (DEirlncRNA). Then, we adopted a single-factor test and a modified LASSO regression analysis to screen out ideal DEirlncRNAs and constructed a Cox proportional hazard model. We have sifted 28 DEirlncRNA pairs, 12 of which were included in this model. Next, we compared the area under the curve (AUC), found the cutoff point by using the Akaike information criterion (AIC) value, and distinguished the patients with ccRCC into a high-risk group and a low-risk group using this value. Finally, we tested this model by investigating the relationship between risk score and survival, clinical pathological characteristics, cells in tumor immune microenvironment, chemotherapy, and targeted checkpoint biomarkers. Results. A novel immune-related lncRNA pair signature consisting of 12 DEirlncRNA pairs was successfully constructed and tightly associated with overall survival, clinical pathological characteristics, cells in tumor immune microenvironment, and reactiveness to immunotherapy and chemotherapy in patients with ccRCC. Besides, the efficacy of this signature was verified in some commonly used clinicopathological subgroups and could serve as an independent prognostic factor in patients with ccRCC. Conclusions. This signature was proven to have a potential predictive significance for the prognosis of patients with ccRCC and the efficacy of immunotherapy.

Breast cancer is the quintessential example of how molecular characterization of tumor biology guides therapeutic decisions. From the discovery of the estrogen receptor to current clinical molecular profiles to evolving single-cell analytics, the characterization and compartmentalization of breast cancer into divergent subtypes is clear. However, competing with this divergent model of breast cancer is the recognition of intratumoral heterogeneity, which acknowledges the possibility that multiple different subtypes exist within a single tumor. Intratumoral heterogeneity is driven by both intrinsic effects of the tumor cells themselves as well as extrinsic effects from the surrounding microenvironment. There is emerging evidence that these intratumoral molecular subtypes are not static; rather, plasticity between divergent subtypes is possible. Interconversion between seemingly different subtypes within a tumor drives tumor progression, metastases, and treatment resistance. Therapeutic strategies must, therefore, contend with changing phenotypes in an individual patient’s tumor. Identifying targetable drivers of molecular heterogeneity may improve treatment durability and disease progression.

Chemotherapy remains the primary treatment of advanced solid cancer, including lung cancer. However, as first-line treatment, cisplatin-based therapy is restricted by the frequent development of drug resistance. Increasing data showed that the programmed cell death protein ligand 1 (PD-L1) plays a vital role in regulating cisplatin resistance. However, the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. We found that miR-526b-3p expression declined while PD-L1 was elevated in cisplatin-resistant lung cancer compared to that in cisplatin-sensitive lung cancer by analyzing clinical samples. Significantly, miR-526b-3p was associated with response to cisplatin negatively. We further demonstrated that miR-526b-3p reversed cisplatin resistance, suppressed metastasis, and activated CD8+ T cells in a STAT3/PD-L1-dependent manner. Thus, our findings extended the knowledge of PD-L1-mediated cisplatin resistance of lung cancer. In addition, the introduction of miR-526b-3p provided a new clue to improve the anti-tumor effects of the combination of immunotherapy and chemotherapy.

—A rectangular array of seismic nodes is called a 3D seismic sensors array which is suitable for geographic routing. However, when certain seismic nodes have no location information, using detours or other methods to detect the path will increase latency and power consumption of geographic routing. It is challenging to maintain the high performance of geographic routing in practical 3D exploration networks. This letter proposes a greedy flee in the direction routing algorithm (GFDR). According to the feature that the intersection of the connection set of nodes is not empty, GFDR can drive the packet continuously forward in a specified direction without location information when the packet records the node ID of the path. Simulation results show that as the size of the area without location information (AWLI) increases, GFDR can keep the delivery ratio above 98%, while maintaining an approximately constant packet delay without increasing the number of packet-forwarding hops. A real seismic system experiment running GFDR algorithm confirms the simulation results and demonstrates the effectiveness of GFDR.

Designing hardware accelerators for convolutional neural networks (CNNs) has recently attracted tremendous attention. Plenty of existing accelerators are built for dense CNNs or structured sparse CNNs. By contrast, unstructured sparse CNNs can achieve higher compression ratio with equivalent accuracy. However, their corresponding hardware implementations generally suffer from load imbalance and conflict access to on-chip buffers, which results in under utilization of processing elements (PEs). To tackle these issues, we propose a hardware/power-efficient and highly flexible architecture to support both unstructured and structured sparse CNNs with various configurations. Firstly, we propose an efficient weight reordering algorithm to preprocess compressed weights and balance the workload of PEs. Secondly, an adaptive on-chip dataflow, namely hybrid parallel (HP) dataflow, is introduced to promote weight reuse. Thirdly, the partial fusion scheme, which was first introduced in one of our prior works, is incorporated as the off-chip dataflow. Benefited from dataflow optimizations, the repetitive data exchanges between on-chip buffers and external memories are significantly reduced. We implement the design on the Intel Arria10 SX660 platform and evaluate with MobileNet-v2, ResNet-50, and ResNet-18 on ImageNet dataset. Compared to existing sparse accelerators on FPGAs, the proposed accelerator can achieve $1.35\sim 1.81\times $ improvement in power efficiency with the same sparsity. Compared to prior dense accelerators, this accelerator can achieve an improvement of $1.92\sim 5.84\times $ in DSP efficiency.

Cutaneous melanoma (CM) is an aggressive cancer; given that initial and specific signs are lacking, diagnosis is often late and the prognosis is poor. RNA modification has been widely studied in tumour progression. Nevertheless, little progress has been made in the signature of N1 -methyladenosine (m1 A), 5-methylcytosine (m5 C), N6 -methyladenosine (m6 A)-related regulators and the tumour microenvironment (TME) cell infiltration in CM. Our study identified the characteristics of m1 A-, m5 C- and m6 A-related regulators based on 468 CM samples from the public database. Using univariate, multivariate and LASSO Cox regression analysis, a risk model of regulators was established and validated by a nomogram on independent prognostic factors. The gene set variation analysis (GSVA) and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) clarified the involved functional pathways. A combined single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) and CIBERSORT approach revealed TME of regulator-related prognostic signature. The nine-gene signature stratified the patients into distinct risk subgroups for personalized prognostic assessment. Additionally, functional enrichment, immune infiltration and immunotherapy response analysis indicated that the high-risk group was correlated with T-cell suppression, while the low-risk group was more sensitive to immunotherapy. The findings presented here contribute to our understanding of the TME molecular heterogeneity in CM. Nine m1 A-, m5 C- and m6 A-related regulators may also be promising biomarkers for future research.

In the process of layer inspection and hole mending, it was found that the corrosion of tubing in a well was serious, and perforation and fracture occurred. Part of the tubing was found to be cracked from the failed pipe samples, and relatively serious pitting corrosion pits were found on the surface of the outer wall. The fracture morphology and corrosion products were analyzed by means of macroscopic analysis and metallographic microscope, SEM and EDS. The result show that the mechanical damage of the outer wall of the tubing was the primary condition for accelerating corrosion, and the severe corrosion thinning of the inner and outer walls of the tubing was the main reason for the failure of the tubing string. The corrosion perforation of tubing was mainly caused by internal corrosion.

Prior reports have examined the relationship between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and the mortality rate of lung cancer. However, the findings remain controversial. The present meta-analysis was performed to assess the relationship between OSA and increased risk of mortality in patients with lung cancer. PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase were systematically searched for the correlative studies. Data were analyzed and pooled to evaluate odds ratios (ORs) of lung cancer mortality related to OSA. From 249 identified studies, 3 met inclusion criteria and were analyzed, including 67 patients with lung cancer and comorbid OSA and 45 patients with lung cancer and no OSA. The meta-analysis indicated that OSA was not significantly correlated with mortality rate in lung cancer (OR = 2.005, 95% CI = 0.703 to 5.715, z = 1.30, p = 0.193). There was no significant publication bias according to Begg’s tests (p = 0.296) and Egger’s tests (p = 0.097). This meta-analysis suggests that OSA is not significantly correlated with the mortality rate in lung cancer.

Background Survivin have been shown to play a crucial role in rheumatoid arthritis (RA); however, the regulatory mechanism of survivin in RA has not been fully elucidated. This study aims to investigate the effect of survivin on the proliferation and apoptosis of human RA fibroblast-like synoviocyte (RA-HFLS) cells in RA and its underlying mechanism through the NOTCH pathway. Methods The RA synovial tissues of 65 RA patients with partial resection of synovium of knee joint by arthroscopy were collected. The expression of survivin in synovial tissue was detected by immunohistochemistry, and the correlation of survivin expression and clinical-pathological parameters of patients was analyzed. In vitro, the proliferation of HFLS and RA-HFLS were detected by MTT; the apoptosis of HFLS and RA-HFLS were detected by flow cytometry; the expression of survivin proteins, key protein factors (Notch1, Jagged1, Hes1) in the Notch pathway, and angiogenesis-related proteins (vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 [VEGFR1], Ang1, Ang2) were determined by western blot. Results We found that survivin was highly expressed in RA synovial tissues and RA-HFLS cells, and was positively correlated with erythrocyte sedimentation rate, cyclic citrullinated peptide, C-reactive protein, Disease Activity Score of 28 joints and other pathological indexes. Knockdown survivin induces RA-HFLS cell apoptosis, suppresses proliferation and the expression of VEGFR1, Ang1, Ang2. In addition, blocking Notch pathway using FLI-06 significantly down-regulated survivin expression. When survivin is up-regulated, it promotes RA-HFLS cell proliferation, the expression of VEGFR1, Ang1, Ang2 and suppresses apoptosis by activating the NOTCH. Conclusion This study confirmed that survivin promotes RA-HFLS cell proliferation, the expression of angiogenesis-related proteins and suppresses apoptosis by activating the NOTCH pathway.

Background We conducted a meta-analysis to compare the efficacy and toxicity of scheduled intravesical gemcitabine (GEM) and Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) for Ta and T1 non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Methods The database search was performed in Ovid Medline, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library from the commencement of the database to July 7, 2020. Trials using immediate instillation were excluded and we present the included studies in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 reporting checklist. The data extracted was analyzed using Stata 11.0 software. Results Six studies of 466 patients comparing GEM and BCG were finally included. No significant difference was detected between GEM and BCG group in recurrence free survival [hazard ratio (HR) =0.80, 95% confidence interval (95% CI), 0.46–1.37, P=0.410], progression free survival (HR =0.82, 95% CI, 0.38–1.77, P=0.621), and total adverse events [odds ratio (OR) =0.70, 95% CI, 0.38–1.29, P=0.253). However, patients receiving GEM treatment are less likely to develop urinary adverse events, such as dysuria (OR =0.50, 95% CI, 0.29–0.87) and hematuria (OR =0.40, 95% CI, 0.18–0.91). We performed subgroup analysis and found that the effects of GEM and BCG were similar even on patients with high recurrence risk tumor. Sensitivity analysis showed the robustness of the results. Discussion Scheduled intravesical GEM instillation has a similar effect with BCG instillation in preventing NMIBC recurrence and progression, but GEM therapy causes a lower incidence of dysuria and hematuria than BCG. GEM may be an alternative therapy for BCG. However, the results should be treated with caution due to the low to moderate quality of the included studies.

BACKGROUND Transplant renal artery stenosis is a relatively frequent vascular complication after transplantation. However, extra-renal pseudo-aneurysms (EPSAs) are rare after transplantation; they can be life-threatening and usually need open surgical repair. We discuss the diagnosis and spontaneous healing of an asymptomatic renal allograft EPSA caused by renal artery anastomotic stenosis, which was diagnosed in a timely manner and managed by conservative treatments. CASE SUMMARY We present a 37-year-old male patient diagnosed with a renal allograft EPSA caused by renal artery anastomotic stenosis due to multiple atherosclerotic plaques with ultrasonographic examination 6 mo post transplantation. The stenosis rate of 90% and the EPSA were verified by computed tomography angiography. The diagnosis was further confirmed with digital subtraction angiography. Percutaneous transluminal angiography was conducted, and a metallic stent was successfully implanted at the stenosed site of the main renal artery trunk. No further intervention for the EPSA was undertaken due to the difficulty of stenting and the risk of bleeding; regular ultrasonographic follow-ups were recommended. The stenosis was significantly relieved immediately after stent implantation and the EPSA was healed spontaneously by completely filling with hypo-echoic thrombosis 8 mo after stenting. CONCLUSION Ultrasonography combined with a high-frequency linear probe can detect vascular complications post renal transplantation at an early stage and improve prognosis.

Background Despite extensive molecular epidemiological studies, the prevalence and characteristics of Mouse Mammary Tumor Virus-Like Virus (MMTV-LV) in Chinese women breast cancer are still unclear. Besides, the prevalence of MMTV-LV in women breast cancer tissue varies in different countries and its dependent factors remain inconclusive. Methods In the first part of the study, a case-control study was performed. 119 breast cancer samples (84 from Northern China and 35 from Southern China) and 50 breast fibroadenoma specimens were collected from Chinese women patients. MMTV-like env sequence and the homology to MMTV env gene were analysed by semi-nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR). We also explored the association of MMTV-LV prevalence with sample sources (Southern and Northern China) and patients’ clinicopathological characteristics. To investigate the dependent factors of the prevalence of MMTV-LV in breast cancer worldwide, a meta-analysis was conducted in the second part of the study. Results We found that the prevalence of MMTV-LV was much higher in breast cancer tissues (17.65%) than that in breast fibroadenoma specimens (4.00%) (P P P Conclusion The distribution of house mice may be a crucial environmental factor that explains the geographic differences in human breast cancer incidence. Our findings may provide a potential avenue of prevention, diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer.

Near-infrared (NIR)-emitting phosphor materials have been extensively developed for optoelectronic and biomedical applications. Although Cr3+ -activated phosphors have been widely reported, it is challenging to achieve ultra-broad and tunable NIR emission. Here, a new ultra-broadband NIR-emitting LiIn2 SbO6 :Cr3+ phosphor with emission peak at 965 nm and a full-width at half maximum of 217 nm is reported. Controllable emission tuning from 965 to 892 nm is achieved by chemical unit cosubstitution of [Zn2+ -Zn2+ ] for [Li+ -In3+ ], which can be ascribed to the upshift of 4 T2g energy level due to the strengthened crystal field. Moreover, the emission is greatly enhanced, and the FWHM reaches 235 nm. The as-prepared luminescent tunable NIR-emitting phosphors have demonstrated the potential in night-vision and NIR spectroscopy techniques. This work proves the feasibility of chemical unit cosubstitution strategy in emission tuning of Cr3+ -doped phosphors, which can stimulate further studies on the emission-tunable NIR-emitting phosphor materials.

Objectives: Extensive literature exists documenting disparities in access to healthcare for patients with lower socioeconomic status (SES). The objective of this study was to examine access disparities and differences in surgical wait times in children with the most common pediatric otolaryngologic surgery, tympanostomy tubes (TT). Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed at a tertiary children’s hospital. Children ages Results: A total of 969 patients were included. Average age at surgery was 2.11 years. Almost 90% were white and 67.5% had private insurance. Patients with public insurance, ≥1 no-show appointment, and who lived in zip codes with the median income below the United States median had a longer period from otologic consult and preoperative clinic to TT, but no differences were seen in race. Those with public insurance had their surgery at an older age than those with private insurance ( P Conclusions: Lower SES is associated with chronic otitis media with effusion and a longer wait time from otologic consult and preoperative clinic to TT placement. Vertical transistors—in which the channel length is determined by the thickness of the semiconductor—are of interest in the development of next-generation electronic devices. However, short-channel vertical devices are difficult to fabricate, because the high-energy metallization process typically results in damage to the contact region. Here we show that molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) vertical transistors with channel lengths down to one atomic layer can be created using a low-energy van der Waals metal integration technique. The approach uses prefabricated metal electrodes that are mechanically laminated and transferred on top of MoS2/graphene vertical heterostructures, leading to vertical field-effect transistors with on–off ratios of 26 and 103 for channel lengths of 0.65 nm and 3.60 nm, respectively. Using scanning tunnelling microscopy and low-temperature electrical measurements, we show that the improved electrical performance is the result of a high-quality metal–semiconductor interface, with minimized direct tunnelling current and Fermi-level pinning effect. The approach can also be extended to other layered materials (tungsten diselenide and tungsten disulfide), resulting in sub-3-nm p-type and n-type vertical transistors. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common chronic systemic autoimmune disease. Although there are a variety of treatments for RA, the substantial clinical therapies are still limited to disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARD), which would induce obvious side-effect in patients after long-term administration. Herein, an uncomplicated drug-induced self-assembly strategy was proposed to fabricate enzyme-loaded albumin nanomedicine. The hydrophobic drug methotrexate (MTX) could induce self-assembly of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and human serum albumin (HSA) to form HSA-SOD-MTX nanoparticle. After intravenous injection, dual-modal imaging including fluorescence imaging or single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)/CT imaging exhibits high accumulation of cyanine 5.5 (Cy5.5) or 125I labeled HSA-SOD-MTX nanoparticles in the joints of collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) mice. Importantly, using the synergy therapy of SOD enzyme to scavenge the reactive oxygen species (ROS) and MTX to suppress inflammation, HSA-SOD-MTX nanoparticles exhibit excellent therapeutic efficiency of RA in CIA mice compared with the other groups. Micro-CT and clinical arthritis score of RA mice further demonstrate that RA symptoms of mice treated with HSA-SOD-MTX nanoparticles is significantly relived, which was further demonstrated by the histological analysis and the inflammatory factors measurement. The synergy therapy of inflammation by MTX and SOD enzyme based on HSA-SOD-MTX nanoparticles show excellent therapeutic effects of RA without inducing obvious side effects. Therefore, our strategy may further promote the highly efficient therapy of RA using SOD enzyme to scavenge the ROS and decreasing the side-effect of MTX, which may provide the reference for clinical RA treatment.

Ultrasonic-assisted forming technology has great potential in micro-coining. In this paper, ultrasonic-assisted micro-coining experiments comparing different ultrasonic frequencies, amplitudes, action times and other parameters were conducted. The experimental results were analyzed by numerical simulation. It was shown that ultrasonic duration was the main factor determining micro-cylinder height. The micro-cylinder height increased rapidly when ultrasonic duration time was less than 10 s, but longer ultrasonic treatment provided little extra gain micro-cylinder growth. The ultrasonic frequency and amplitude also played an important role in micro-coining. Ultrasonic frequency closest to natural frequency of tools and larger ultrasonic amplitude could provide more ultrasonic energy to specimens, thus leading to higher micro-cylinders. When the ultrasonic frequency and amplitude were 20 kHz and 8.6 μm, respectively, the micro-cylinder height increased the most, nearly five times higher than that achieved without ultrasound. Numerical simulation showed that the surface effect of ultrasonic played a major role in micro-coining by effectively reducing the friction coefficient between tools and specimens, contributing >90% of the increase of micro-cylinder height. The ever-decreasing size of transistors requires effectively electrostatic control over ultra-thin semiconductor body. Rational design of the gate configuration can fully persevere the intrinsic property of two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors. Here we design and demonstrate a 2D MoS2 transistor with omega-shaped gate, in which the local gate coupling is enhanced by the non-planar geometry. The omega-shaped non-planar transistors exhibit a high current of 0.89 A/μm and transconductance of 32.7 μS/μm. The high performance and desirable current saturation promise the construction of robust logic gate. The inverters show a voltage gain of 26.6 and an ideal total margin nearly 89%. We also assemble NOT-AND (NAND) gate on an individual MoS2 flake, and the constructed NAND gate demonstrates the universal functionality of the transistors as well. This work provides an alternative strategy to fully take the advantages of 2D materials for high-performance field-effect transistors.

Objective To use image registration techniques to study the clavicular rotation of the shoulders in the sagittal plane. Methods From 28 April 2019 to 20 May 2019, 13 healthy adults (7 males and 6 females) with no history of shoulder trauma surgery or chronic pain were recruited. Patients’ ages ranged from 22 to 42 years, with a mean age of 26.5 years. Three‐dimensional composite images of the sternum–clavicle–humerus were taken using CT images of upper limb movement in the sagittal plane in the 13 healthy adults. Four different postures were registered: (i) anatomical supine position; (ii) elbow joints lifted anteriorly in the supine position; (iii) posterosuperior hyperextension of the elbow joints in the prone position; and (iv) posteroinferior hyperextension of the elbow joints in the prone position. Image data from the humerus and clavicle in three of the postures were processed to calculate Euler angles for movements in the sagittal plane. SPSS 19 was used to perform statistical analyses. Results There was no significant difference in the angles of change in the clavicle and humerus between the dominant and non‐dominant sides under different movement patterns. For upper limb movements in the sagittal plane, the clavicle displayed different Euler angles in different postures. The rotation angle from the anatomical to the horizontal position was the smallest angle, with an average value of 7.1°, whereas the rotation angle from horizontal to posterosuperior hyperextension was the largest, with an average value of 37.2°. When the upper limb moved from anterior protraction to a posterosuperior extension, the intrinsic rotation angle of the clavicle reached its maximum, with an average value of 27.9°; when moved from the anatomical to the horizontal position, 9.1% of the sagittal rotation was executed by the clavicle. During rotation from the horizontal position to posterosuperior hyperextension and from the anatomical to posterior extension, the clavicle showed relatively higher weights at 29.5% and 37.0%, respectively. Conclusion Our results showed that dominance was not a consideration when studying clavicular rotation. Image registration is an effective method that can be used to study upper limb scapular movements. OBJECTIVE: To establish an intelligent cervical vertebra maturity assessment system, and to evaluate the reliability and clinical value of the system. METHODS: Sixty children aged 8-16 years were recruited in the study. Lateral cephalometric radiograph and cone beam CT (CBCT) were taken at the same period. Based on the CBCT data, the system automatically extracted the patient’s facial area through Otsu’s method, intercepted the sagittal plane by three-dimensional least squares method, captured the second to fourth cervical vertebrae by superpixel segmentation. And then selected points were marked automatically through morphological algorithm and manual method. Consistency test was performed on the two sets of data to compare the reliability of automated cervical morphology capture. According to the parameters of morphological identification, positioning and staging algorithms were designed to form the intelligent cervical vertebra maturity assessment system. The cervical vertebra maturity was also judged manually on the lateral cephalometric radiograph. The weighted Kappa test and the Gamma correlation coefficient were subsequently applied to evaluate the consistency and correlation. RESULTS: The results showed that the cervical vertebra features automatically captured based on CBCT data had a high accuracy on the overall morphological recognition. In the prediction of 8 inflection points out of 13 points, there was no significant difference between automatic and manual method on both X and Y axes (all P>0.05). The assessment results of the cervical vertebra maturity of the intelligent system had strong consistency and correlation with the manual recognition results (weighted Kappa value=0.877, Gamma value=0.991, both P

This paper suggests an optimization strategy to train a CNN deep-learning network, which successfully recognizing working status on the HMI panels of CNC machines. To verify the developed strategy, the research experiments using a prototype that consists of a CNC milling machine and an industrial robot. In the optimization strategy, the research first defines a length-varying hyperparameter list for the deep-learning network, and the entities in the list adjust themselves to optimize the model scales. During the optimization process, this paper adopts a two-stage training scheme that gradually augments image datasets to improve HMI control-panel recognition performances, such as recognition accuracy and recognition speed to identify the CNC machine working status. Using an open-source PyTorch platform, this research establishes a cloud-based distributed architecture to build training codes for the deep-learning network, in which an applicable optimization model is deployed to recognize the CNC control-panel working status. The optimization strategy employs minimal codes to rebuild the architecture and the least efforts to reform the manufacturing system. The optimally trained model provides up to a 99.34% CNC panel-message recognition accuracy and a high-speed recognition of 100 images in 0.6 s. Moreover, the developed optimization strategy enables the prediction of necessitated dataset augmentation to training a practically implemented CNN network.

Due to the advancement of cloud computing, public key encryption with equality test has become a hot topic in the cryptography community. The notion was extended to the identity-based setting to obtain a new primitive, called identity-based encryption with equality test (IBEET). To the best of our knowledge, there are two categories of authorization mechanisms for IBEET: ciphertext-specified authorization and user-specified authorization. However, these authorizations are not applicable for some scenarios. Motivated by this, we propose in this paper a new primitive, called identity-based encryption with equality test and datestamp-based authorization mechanism (IBEET-DBA). In the primitive, the data owner can control the validity of trapdoor by embedding datestamp into it. The cloud server can only obtain the correct equivalence results on the ciphertexts which are generated within the valid period of trapdoor. In this paper, we formally define this primitive and its security notion. Moreover, we propose the first IBEET-DBA scheme and prove its security.

Public key encryption with equality test (PKEET) is an important cryptographic primitive for protecting users’ outsourced data in the cloud-based email systems. Due to the fact that it is required to deploy different authorization policies for the demand of dynamic privacy protection in the cloud-based email systems, Ma et al. recently presented a new related primitive, called public key encryption with equality test supporting flexible authorization (PKEET-FA). In their proposal, four types of authorization were considered to support different authorization policies. Their proposal is based on the bilinear pairings. However, as the basic operation of equality test, bilinear pairings are expensive operations compared with modular multiplications and modular inverses. Hence, it is desired to propose a new method for constructing efficient equality test with modular multiplications and modular inverses. In this paper, we present such a PKEET-FA scheme. Compared with Ma et al.’s, our proposal is (surprisingly) more efficient, especially in terms of equality test. Moreover, our proposal supports an additional type of authorization, called user-specific ciphertext-to-user (or user-specific user-to-ciphertext) level authorization. Hence, ours is more flexible than Ma et al.’s.

Antihypertensive agents are frequently prescribed in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs). However, the frequency and patterns of prescribing antihypertensive agents remain uncharacterized in KTRs in China. Therefore, this investigation was carried out.Retrospective prescription data dated 2011 to 2018 from KTRs in China were accessed using the Hospital Prescription Analysis Program database. Information about sex, birth date, and identification number of the patient; city, date, and department of the medical visit; major diagnoses; and the generic names, specifications, quantities, and usage of prescribed drugs were collected. Antihypertensive agents were grouped into 5 classes: angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs), angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), β-blockers (BBs), calcium channel blockers (CCBs), and diuretics. The frequency and patterns of prescribing these antihypertensive agents were analyzed.Prescriptions from 174,749 KTRs (67.2% male; mean age, 42.5 [9.4] years) were obtained, and 58.2% of the patients were prescribed antihypertensive agents. The percentage of patients who received antihypertensive treatment increased from 52.9% in 2011 to 61.6% in 2018 and varied by city. Cyclosporine was associated with higher prescription frequency of antihypertensive agents than was tacrolimus (71.7% vs 63.4%; P 0.0001). During the 8-year study period, CCBs were most frequently prescribed (39.0%), followed by ARBs (31.9%), BBs (14.3%), ACEIs (11.6%), and diuretics (3.2%). The mean (SD) number of antihypertensive drugs prescribed per KTR was 1.7 (0.8). Almost half of KTRs (51.2%) received just 1 antihypertensive drug. Co-administration of 2 or more antihypertensive drugs presented an obviously upward trend. The most commonly prescribed 2-drug combination was CCB + ARB (44.8%), followed by CCB + BB (20.1%) and CCB + ACEI (13.0%). In the patients who received 3 antihypertensive drugs, the 2 most frequently prescribed combinations were CCB + ARB + BB (37.5%) and CCB + ARB + ACEI (32.7%). Specific data varied by both year and city.The prescribing patterns of antihypertensive agents in KTRs varied by city even within same country. Hence, more high-quality research studies on the use of antihypertensive agents in KTRs are needed.

In modern seismic data acquisition, real-time data collection is a challenging task due to bandwidth limitations in wireless communications. In this letter, we propose a novel compressive data gathering scheme using generative adversarial networks, named GAN-CDG, to improve the efficiency of data gathering. Instead of collecting the originally acquired data, GAN-CDG gathers data projections in wireless geophone networks. Data compression and load-balanced relay transmission are utilized during the projection process. To speed up the formation of projections, the shortest path routing tree (SPRT) is constructed, which achieves the minimum end-to-end time delay. The sparse domain of seismic signals and its reconstruction mapping are learned by sparsity-constrained adversarial networks. The testing results demonstrate that projections with high compression ratios (e.g., 16) are gathered efficiently with the SPRT. Then, original seismic signals can be reconstructed accurately (over 30 dB) from the projections using the adversarial model, which outperforms the state-of-the-art method.

There is a lack of evidence about the relationship between microorganisms and non‐carious cervical lesions (NCCLs) due to limited technologies. A group of 78 patients was enrolled for microbial 16S rRNA sequencing of dental plaques on normal and defective cervical surfaces. Parallel data from 39 patients were analysed with paired t tests, and Fusobacteriales exhibited significantly less distribution on NCCLs than on normal surfaces. As a result, Fusobacterium nucleatum, the most common oral bacterial strain belonging to the order Fusobacteriales, was selected for further research. From a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) scan, the tooth surface with Fusobacterium nucleatum and Streptococcus mutans culture was more intact than that without Fusobacterium nucleatum. Furthermore, the calcium contents in groups with Fusobacterium nucleatum were significantly higher than that without it. In further mechanistic research, Fusobacterium nucleatum was demonstrated to adhere to and disturb other organisms as well as producing alkaline secretions to neutralize the deleterious acidic environment, protecting the tooth structure. In conclusion, microorganisms and NCCLs were confirmed directly related through adherent bacterial interactions and pH regulation. The research provides a new perspective and experimental evidence for the relation between microorganisms and NCCLs, which guides clinical treatment and preventive dentistry in the future.

It is known to be highly efficient. However, a change in the coagulation profile is one of the most dangerous potential complications which is a concern for both surgeon and anesthetist. Bleeding may cause hypovolemic shock, hematoma, and so on. To investigate the effects of sugammadex on coagulation profiles in patients with thyroidectomy, we compared patients that were treated with either sugammadex or neostigmine.Patients and Methods: Eighty patients with thyroid neoplasms undergoing thyroidectomy were randomly allocated to sugammadex group (group S) or neostigmine group (group N). Induction of anesthesia was preformed using propofol, sufentanil, and rocuronium. Group S received sugammadex 2.0mg/kg after trachea intubation, similarly Group N received neostigmine 40 μg/kg, for reversal of rocuronium-induced neuromuscular blockade. The intraoperative coagulation profiles were monitored after the rocuronium injection (T0), 10 minutes after reversal (T1) and 30 minutes after reversal (T2) by testing activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), prothrombin time (PT), fibrinogen (FIB), thrombin time (TT), and TEG-Haemonetics. Amount of bleeding was recorded during perioperative period.Results: There was no significant difference in the thromboelastogram, APTT, PT, FIB, or TT measurements at each time point in Group N. The reaction time (R time) and kinetics time (K time) of Group S in T1 were significantly longer than the corresponding times at T0 and T2, and the R times were significantly longer than those in Group N at the same time points (P< 0.05). Additionally, in Group S, the APTT was prolonged in T1 and returned to normal in T2.Conclusion: The result showed that sugammadex provided transient efficacy in prolonging the coagulation parameters, while neostigmine did not change the coagulation profile.Keywords: sugammadex, neostigmine, TEG-Haemonetics, coagulation, thyroidectomy

As one of the postquantum protocol candidates, the supersingular isogeny key encapsulation (SIKE) protocol delivers promising public and secret key sizes over other candidates. Nevertheless, the considerable computations form the bottleneck and limit its practical applications. The modular multiplication operations occupy a large proportion of the overall computations required by the SIKE protocol. The VLSI implementation of the high-speed modular multiplier remains a big challenge. In this article, we propose three improved modular multiplication algorithms based on an unconventional radix for this protocol, all of which cost about 20% fewer computations than the prior art. Besides, a multiprecision scheme is also introduced for the proposed algorithms to improve the scalability in hardware implementation, resulting in three new algorithms. We then present very efficient high-speed constant-time modular multiplier architectures for the six algorithms. It is shown that these new architectures can be extensively pipelined and highly optimized to obtain high throughput and low latency. The field-programmable gate array (FPGA) implementation results show that all proposed multipliers achieve much higher throughput than previous designs, but the increase in resources is relatively small. In addition, the multipliers without the multiprecision scheme have very low latency, which is very friendly to high-speed applications of the SIKE protocol.

Background Tripterygium glycosides (TG) has been used to treat a spectrum of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Our preliminary studies have shown that TG is effective in the treatment of active Graves’ ophthalmopathy (GO). Objective We aimed to compare the efficacy and tolerability of TG with intravenous methylprednisolone (iv.MP) in patients with active moderate-to-severe GO. Methods This study was an observer-masked, single-centre, block-randomised trial. Patients with active moderate-to-severe GO were randomly assigned to receive iv.MP (500 mg once per week for 6 weeks followed by 250 mg per week for 6 weeks) or with TG (20 mg tablet three times per day for 24 weeks). The primary endpoints were the overall response rate and the patients’ quality of life at 12 and 24 weeks. Results In this study, 161 patients were enrolled and randomised from 2015 to 2019. A total of 79 were randomly assigned to receive iv.MP and 82 to receive TG. A greater overall response rate was found in the TG group compared with the iv.MP group at week 24 (90.2% vs 68.4%, P = 0.000). Similarly, the patients’ quality of life of the TG group showed a significantly higher response than the iv.MP group at week 24 (89.02% vs 72.15%, P = 0.001). The TG therapy showed a better CAS response than the iv.MP (91.5% vs 70.9% improved, P < 0.05), and up to 91.2% of patients were inactive. Also, the TG group showed a significantly higher improved rate of diplopia, proptosis, visual acuity, soft tissue involved and the decrease of eye muscle motility than the iv.MP group at week 24. Significantly more patients in the iv.MP group than the TG group experienced adverse events. Conclusion Compared with iv.MP treatment, TG therapy is more effective and safer for patients with active moderate to severe GO.

The training of Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) brings enormous memory requirements and computational complexity, which makes it a challenge to train DNN models on resource-constrained devices. Training DNNs with reduced-precision data representation is crucial to mitigate this problem. In this article, we conduct a thorough investigation on training DNNs with low-bit posit numbers, a Type-III universal number (Unum). Through a comprehensive analysis of quantization with various data formats, it is demonstrated that the posit format shows great potential to be employed in the training of DNNs. Moreover, a DNN training framework using 8-bit posit is proposed with a novel tensor-wise scaling scheme. The experiments show the same performance as the state-of-the-art (SOTA) across multiple datasets (MNIST, CIFAR-10, ImageNet, and Penn Treebank) and model architectures (LeNet-5, AlexNet, ResNet, MobileNet-V2, and LSTM). We further design an energy-efficient hardware prototype for our framework. Compared to the standard floating-point counterpart, our design achieves a reduction of 68, 51, and 75 percent in terms of area, power, and memory capacity, respectively.

To segment the mandible from cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images efficiently and accurately for the 3D mandible model is essential for subsequent research and diagnosis. This paper proposes a local region-based variational region growing algorithm, which integrates local region and shape prior to segment the mandible accurately. Firstly, we select initial seeds in the CBCT image and then calculate candidate point sets and the local region energy function of each point. If a point reduces the energy, it is selected to be a pixel of the foreground region. By multiple iterations, the mandible segmentation of the slice can be obtained. Secondly, the segmented result of the previous slice is adopted as the shape prior to the next slice until all of the slices in CBCT are segmented. At last, the final mandible model is reconstructed by the Marching Cubes algorithm. The experimental results on CBCT datasets illustrate the LRVRG algorithm can obtain satisfied 3D mandible models from CBCT images and it can solve the fuzzy problem effectively. Furthermore, quantitative comparisons with other methods demonstrate the proposed method achieves the state-of-the-art performance in mandible segmentation. Experiments demonstrate that our method is efficient and accurate for the mandible model segmentation.

During the operation of the railway system, it is inevitable that there will be track defects that affect train operation safety, especially the defects of the rail and fastener. Therefore, it is necessary to detect these defects in time to ensure the safety of train operations. In recent years, with the development of deep learning and computer vision technology, intelligent detection of track defects has made great progress. However, the existing methods not only suffer from the scarcity of defective samples but also their fine-grained recognition is low due to subtle differences between similar classes; furthermore, their real-time performance also needs to be improved. To solve these problems, this article presents a real-time defect detection method for track components based on instance segmentation. First, an improved lightweight instance segmentation network is proposed for the segmentation and location of fastener and rail. Second, a method that detects fastener defects by analyzing the geometric features of the fastener masks is proposed, which can overcome the scarcity of defective fastener samples. A cascade defect detection network is proposed to realize multiresolution and high-resolution detection of rail, which improves the accuracy of rail defect detection. Finally, the TensorRT inference framework is used to accelerate the defect detection network and realize edge end deployment. The experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve 95.1% recall rate of fastener defects, 98% detection rate of rail defects, and 93.5% classification accuracy of rail defects; 33.4 FPS defect detection speed is implemented in the Jetson AGX Xavier embedded device, which verifies the accuracy and real-time performance of the proposed method.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory autoimmune disease. Although significant progress has been made in clinical treatment, joint inflammation may continue or worsen, and may even progress to the end-stage that requires joint replacement. Traditional therapy using methotrexate (MTX) would cause serious off-target systemic toxicities. Therefore, it is crucial to effectively and specifically deliver MTX to targeted inflamed joints to decrease its adverse systemic toxicities and improve its therapeutic index. Herein, we develop multifunctional nanocarriers for diagnostic radioisotope (99mTc) labeling and therapeutic targeted drug (MTX) delivery by using PEGylated hyperbranched semiconducting polymer nanoparticles (HSP-PEG-NPs) as carriers. Upon intravenous administration, the nanoparticles can extravasate through the turbulent blood-joint barrier and access the inflamed joints. In vivo SPECT/CT imaging shows high accumulation in the inflamed joints of mice with RA after intravenous injection of HSP-PEG-NPs with 99mTc labeling (99mTc-HSP-PEG). In vivo therapeutic evaluations suggest that MTX@HSP-PEG-NPs significantly alleviate RA with a high therapeutic index and relatively low adverse systemic toxicities in comparison with free MTX at the same dose. Our study shows that HSP-PEG-NPs could serve as multifunctional vehicles to deliver radioisotopes for in vivo imaging, and MTX for RA treatment, highlighting the innovative development of the nanoparticle-based RA treatment strategy for clinical applications.

A near-infrared emitting phosphor-converted light-emitting diode (NIR pc-LED) attracts much attention for its promising applications in night vision, biosensors, food composition and freshness measurement areas and so on, while the discovery of broadband NIR phosphors remains a challenge. Herein, an efficient broadband NIR-emitting Ca2YHf2Al3O12:Cr3+ (CYHA:Cr3+) garnet phosphor is successfully developed. Under 460 nm light excitation, the developed Ca2YHf2Al3O12:Cr3+ (CYHA:Cr3+) shows broadband NIR emission from 650 to 1000 nm peaking at ∼775 nm, with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of ∼137 nm, an internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of ∼75%, and good thermal stability (I423k ∼ 80%). To further improve and tune the photoluminescence (PL) properties of Cr3+-activated CYHA, a strategy of energy transfers (ETs) is designed in CYHA. Through the ET of Ce3+ → Cr3+, the absorption of Cr3+ can be effectively enhanced. Utilizing the Cr3+ → Yb3+ ET, the spectral intensity of Yb3+ is obviously strengthened and the NIR emission bandwidth is broadened. In addition, Yb3+-codoping improves the thermal stability from ∼80% to ∼90% at 423 K, principally originating from the efficient ET from Cr3+ to more thermally stable Yb3+ emitters. Here, ETs of Ce3+ → Cr3+, Ce3+ → Yb3+, Cr3+ → Yb3+, and Ce3+ → Cr3+ → Yb3+ in CYHA are systematically analyzed based on PL lifetime and ET mechanisms are proposed. Finally, as-fabricated NIR pc-LED combining CYHA:Cr3+,Yb3+ with a blue LED chip, gives a maximum NIR output power of ∼18 mW at a drive current of 100 mA. These results indicate the great potential of CYHA:Cr3+ phosphor in NIR pc-LED applications.
