To explore the effect of herb-partitioned moxibustion (HPM) on tight junctions (TJs) of intestinal epithelial cells in Crohn disease (CD) mediated by tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)-nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB)-myosin-light-chain kinase (MLCK) pathway. Forty-eight male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a normal control (NC) group, a model control (MC) group, an HPM group and a mesalazine (MESA) group, with 12 rats in each group. Trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS) was administered to establish CD models. When the model was confirmed a success, the HPM group rats were treated with HPM at Tianshu (ST 25) and Qihai (CV 6), while the MESA group rats were given MESA solution by lavage. When the intervention finished, the colonic epithelial tissues were separated, purified and cultured in each group to establish the intestinal epithelial barrier model in vitro, and TNF-α was added (100 ng/mL) in the culture medium and maintained for 24 h to establish an increased epithelial permeability model. Transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) was used to examine the permeability of the barrier; Western blot was used to observe the expressions of the proteins related to TJs of intestinal epithelial cells mediated by TNF-α-NF-κB-MLCK pathway; immunofluorescence staining was used to observe the expressions and distributions of tight junction proteins in the intestinal epithelium. Responding to the increasing global need for environmental protection, a green port balances economic vibrancy with environmental protection. However, because exhaust emissions (e.g., CO2 or sulfide) are difficult to monitor around ports, data on such emissions are often incomplete, which hinders research on this topic. The present study aimed to fill this gap in this topic. To remedy this problem, this study formulated a new data envelopment analysis (DEA) method for collecting CO2 emissions data at their source. This method was applied to collect real-world operating data from a large container-handling company in Taiwan. Specifically, we provide a real example using a novel green energy index to account for undesirable outputs. Our main objective was to formulate two methods that combine: (1) data envelopment analysis based on a modified slack-based measure, and (2) a multi-choice goal programming approach. The contributions of this paper included the finding that rubber-tired gantry cranes are the greenest and should be used in ports. Finally, our findings aid port managers in selecting port equipment that provides the best balance between environmental protection and profitability.

The FHH rat is a genetic model of hypertension that develops proteinuria, glomerulosclerosis, and chronic kidney disease. However, the genetic causes are unknown. We have previously identified an inactivating mutation of Add3 in FHH rats in association with reduced ADD3 expression and impaired myogenic reactivity of the renal arterioles. The vascular impairment and renal dysfunction were restored with knock-in of wild type (WT) Add3 in FHH rats. The present study examined whether knockout (KO) of Add3 in normal WT rats impairs the myogenic response of renal afferent arteriole (Af-art), interlobular arteriole (IA), arcuate arteriole (AA), renal blood flow (RBF) autoregulation, and if the reduction of expression of ADD3 promotes hypertension-induced renal dysfunction. Blood pressure was similar in 24-week old Add3 KO vs. WT rats, and after induction of 3 weeks of DOCA-salt-hypertension in these strains. Proteinuria was significantly higher in both normotensive and hypertensive Add3 KO compared with WT rats. KO of Add3 abolished the myogenic response of Af-art compared with WT rats. Similarly, the diameters of IA and AA increased 46 % (from 55.28 ± 2.95 um to 80.39 ± 0.41 um) and 25 % (from 92.57 ± 9.51 um to 115.49 ± 11.68 um) respectively in Add3 KO rats (n=4), while they remained unchanged in WT (n=5). Moreover, KO of Add3 abolished the RBF autoregulation compared with WT rats. These results indicate that KO of Add3 plays an important role to reduce the myogenic reactivity of renal arterioles and RBF autoregulation, and enhances renal damage after the onset of hypertension.

A physical and mathematical model is established to simulate a single droplet impact onto a thin horizontal liquid film by using coupled Level Set and volume of fluid method, which has advantages in acquisition of interface geometrical parameters and keeping mass conservation. The evolution after the droplet impact is obtained together with isopiestic and velocity field at different parameters including impact velocity, droplet diameter and liquid film thickness. Influences of Weber number (We number), droplet size and film thickness on the crown diameter and crown height are acquired, and the results indicate that the crown diameter and height could be increased by increasing We number or by reducing film thickness. Furthermore, bubble entrainment phenomenon when the droplet impinges the liquid film are captured successfully and discussed. It is found that increment of both impact We number and droplet diameter could help the emerging of bubble rings.

Design an all-optical solid-state scanner chip, which can realize high speed light deflection in a very small space, instead of electron beam deflection scan image converter tube and opto-mechanical scanner, cancel the complicated mechanical components, use the all-optical scanning to realize the super fast phenomenon observation. The beam deflection system is based on semiconductor optical waveguide core layer carrier induced refractive index change effect to realize, its development work is mainly divided into semiconductor optical waveguide and saw prisms two parts. And through the experiment, we measured deflection angle of the scanner chip to 1053nm signal light.

Traditional Chinese medicine QPYF has a good effect for treating antibiotic-associated diarrhea in clinical practice. The aim of this study is to test its efficacy to preventClostridium difficileassociated diarrhea (CDAD) in a mouse model. C57BL/6 mice were infected withClostridium difficileVPI 10463 after exposure to antimicrobial mixture. QPYF was administered from 7 days prior toClostridium difficileinfection to 20 days after infection, and its effect was compared with no treatment and receiving placebo. The mice were monitored for 20 days and the percent survival, disease activity index, weight loss, colon histopathology, and the levels of toxins in the feces were measured. The expressions of TNFα, MCP-1, NF-κB p65, and phospho-NF-κB p65 in the colon were presented by immunohistochemistry. The survival rate of QPYF group (93.75%) was higher than that of model control group (65%). The mice treated with QPYF had a lower weight loss and disease activity index, compared to the mice with placebo. A significantly lower level of histopathology scores, toxins in the feces, and TNFα, MCP-1, NF-κB p65, and phospho-NF-κB p65 were detected for QPYF-treated mice. Traditional Chinese medicine QPYF showed a good preventive effect for CDAD in a mouse model.

11. Modified surface plasmonic waveguide formed by nanometric parallel lines

In this paper, two kinds of modified surface plasmonic waveguides formed by nanometric parallel lines are proposed. The finite-difference frequency-domain method is used to study propagation properties of the fundamental mode supported by these surface plasmonic waveguide structures. Results show that the transverse magnetic field of the fundamental mode is mainly distributed in the face to face region formed by two rods. With the same geometrical parameters and the same working wavelength of 632.8 nm, in the case of rods with a triangular cross-section, the degree of localization of field is strong, i.e. the mode area is small, but the fraction of the modal power in the metal increases, so the effective index increases and the propagation length of the mode decreases. With the same geometrical parameters, relative to the case of a working wavelength of 632.8 nm, when working wavelength is large, the mode area of transverse magnetic field distribution is large, i.e. the degree of localization of field is weak, and the interaction of field and silver is weak too, then the effective index decreases, so the propagation length increases. The rounded radii of rods have a great influence on the performance of the surface plasmonic waveguides with rounded triangular cross-sections, but have little influence on the performance of surface plasmonic waveguides with rounded square cross-sections. Since the distribution of transverse magnetic field, effective index, propagation length and the mode area can be adjusted by the geometrical parameters, this kind of modified surface plasmonic waveguide can be applied to the field of photonic device integration and sensors.

We introduce a modified surface plasmonic waveguide with an arc slot. The dependences of distribution of energy flux density, effective index, propagation length and mode area of the symmetric mode supported by this waveguide on geometrical parameters and working wavelength are analysed by using the finite-difference frequency-domain (FDFD) method. Results show that the energy flux density distributes mainly in four corners which are formed by two arcs, and the closer to the corners it is, the stronger the energy flux density will be. The effective index, the propagation length and the mode area are influenced by geometrical parameters, including the width, the thickness and the arc radius of the surface plasmonic waveguide, as well as the working wavelength. It has been shown that the surface plasmonic waveguide with an arc slot has better propagation properties than the surface plasmonic waveguide with a straight slot. This work may be helpful for applying the slot surface plasmonic waveguide to integrated photonics.

13. Jiang Tang Fang Long Jiao Nang in Treating Non–Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus with Hearing Loss

Objective To study the efficacy and safety of the Jiang Tang Fang Long Jiao Nang (Hypoglycemic Anti–Deafness Capsule) in treating non–insulin dependent diabetes mellitus with hearing loss. Methods Two hundred ninety six patients with non–insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and hearing loss were randomly assigned to a treatment group(n=164, 208 ears) and a control group(n=132, 184 ears). Patients in the treatment group were treated with the Jiang Tang Fang Long Jiao Nang and supplement herbal preparations as indicated by traditional Chinese medicine dialectical assessment, while control patients received glibenclamide and conventional treatments for deafness. Hearing, fasting blood glucose (FBG), post–prandial blood glucose (PBG), 24 hour urine sugar, platelet function indices, blood superoxide dismutase(SOD) and lipid peroxides (LPO) levels, and symptom improvement were compared between the two groups. Results The rate of hearing improvement was 56.7% for the treatment group and 26.6% for the control. FBG, PBG and 24 hour urine sugar improved in both groups, but the last two were superior in the treatment group compared to the control. Symptoms improvement was also superior in the treatment group compared to the control. In patients receiving Jiang Tang Fang Long Jiao Nang treatment, platelet function indices, SOD and LPO were all improved, while only LOP improvement was noticed in control patients. No acute or long–term toxicity was demonstrated for the Jiang Tang Fang Long Jiao Nang in animal tests. The Jiang Tang Fang Long Jiao Nang lowered blood glucose and serum triglycerides in a rat model of alloxan–induced diabetes. Conclusion The Jiang Tang Fang Long Jiao Nang is effective in improving hearing and diabetic indices in diabetic patients with deafness, without significant side effects.

To overcome the problem that the kernel parameter and the punishment factor have great influence on the quality of Support Vector Machine (SVM) model, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is used to optimize the parameters, and then a kind of Hybrid Method Support Vector Machine (HMSVM) is established for fault recognition. Finally, the HMSVM is applied to the recognition of online power cable faults. It is experimentally proved that, the HMSVM is correct and effective for the fault recognition of the online power cable.

Owing to avoiding the heavy computational demands the public key cryptography operations bring about, the authentication protocol is well-suited for security authentication on the Web.

To improve maneuverability of comprehensive evaluation, and promote its systematism, the rationality of comprehensive evaluation and a holistic solution is analyzed. Four comprehensive evaluation basic processes including determining the evaluated objects, establishing evaluation index system, determining the weight parameters and selecting the comprehensive evaluation model are induced, and the logic process figure is given for comprehensive evaluation. Seventeen basic issues during the process of comprehensive evaluation were analyzed. The basic and related issues are attributed to the rationality of comprehensive evaluation. A holistic solution based on the design and optimization of evaluation flow and primary analysis framework were set up. The basic analyzing frame is established, which includes constructing evaluation design and optimization theory frame, initial evaluation for selecting satisfaction conditions of flow scheme, establishing the feature information table of evaluation method, the second evaluating for the flow scheme set by technology condition selecting and reliability optimization, studying on combination optimization model of effective evaluation flow scheme conclusions, designing and implementing of independently generated knowledge base for comprehensive evaluation flow schemes. Above integrated solution idea will benefit for improving the maneuverability of comprehensive evaluation.

With the rapid development of e-commerce and network, many manufacturers redesign their distribution channel through adding e-market based on traditional channel. This paper develops the aggregate demand function under hybrid dual channel based on consumer utility theory, analyzes the pricing strategy and profit under different channel by using game theory. The result shows that when the purchase cost from e-market is relative low, manufacture's optimal channel strategy is dual channnel; when the cost is relative high, the optimal channel strategy is single traditional channel. Finally the conclusion is demonstrated through numerical illustration.

The important diluted magnetic semiconductors PbS, PbSe and PbTe have been studied by the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique. But there are not reasonable explanation reported. In this work, based on the crystal-field theory, the EPR parameters g factors of Yb 3+ and hyperfine structure constants of 171 Yb 3+ and 173 Yb 3+ isotopes in PbS, PbSe and PbTe crystals are calculated by the aid of diagonalizing the full energy matrix. In the calculations, the contributions of various admixtures and interactions such as the J-mixing and the covalence are considered. The crystal field parameters are obtained from the superposition model. The calculated results are in reasonable agreement with the observed values. The results are discussed.

Objective To investigate the distribution of cystathionine-beta-synthase (CBS) in the brain of the spontaneous hypertensive rat. Method Eight adult male spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR), and 8 pargue-Darley (SD) rats were assigned into hypertensive group and control group correspondingly. All rats were killed by over-dose anesthesia. The cerebral cortex, cerebellum, hypothalamus, hippocampus, medulla oblongata were dissociated quickly. Their mRNA of CBS was detected by RT-PCR or Real Time-PCR. Results The transcriptional levels of CBS in brains in the SHR group were significantly decrease compared with the normal control group (0.93 ± 0.01 vs. 1.00 ± 0.00, P 0.05 ; 0.39 ± 0.02 vs. 1.00 ± 0.00, P 0.01 ; 0.07 ± 0.01 vs. 1.00 ± 0.00, P 0.01 ; 0.09 ± 0.03 vs. 1.00 ± 0.00, P 0.01 ; 0.36 ± 0.06 vs. 1.00 ± 0.00, P Conclusion The expression of CBS mRNA in brain tissue of SHR rats are down-regulated, it is likely to get through the mechanism of central, such as medulla oblongata, which probably involved in the pathogenesis of hypertension.

We investigate high-order harmonic generations by controlling various quantum paths of harmonics in an infrared laser field which combines a low-frequency pulse. Both classical theory and the quantum wavelet transform method are used to understand the physics of harmonics. By adjusting the carrier envelope phase of the fundamental field, the intensities of harmonic spectra increase and the harmonics in the plateau become regular. Attosecond pulses each with a duration of 58 as are obtained directly by compressing the harmonics, and with phase compensation an isolated attosecond pulse less than 30 as can be generated.

A diode-side-pumped Nd:YAG ceramic slab laser with a high power output is presented. An average power of 526 W is achieved at 1064 nm with a repetition rate of 120 Hz and a pulse width of 180 μs from a 93mm × 52mm × 8 mm ceramic slab at a pump power of 1928 W, corresponding to an optical-to-optical efficiency of 27.3%.

We report a Q-switched 2-μm Tm:YAG laser based on intracavity-pumped by a 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser operating at room temperature for the first time. An average output power of 5.1 W is obtained with the repetition rate of 30 kHz and a pulse width of 300 ns. In addition, we demonstrate a 12.5-W continuous-wave 2-μm Tm:YAG laser, which is, to our best knowledge, the highest power for intracavity-pumping configuration.

We introduce a kind of surface plasmonic waveguide with double elliptical metallic nanorods. The dependence of the distribution of longitudinal energy flux density, the effective index and the propagation length of the fundamental mode with longer propagation length supported by this waveguide, on the geometrical parameters and the working wavelengths are analysed using the finite-difference frequency-domain (FDFD) method. Results show that the longitudinal energy flux density is distributed mainly in the middle area, which are formed by two elliptical metallic nanorods, and the longitudinal energy flux density is stronger closer to the arc sides of the metallic nanorods. The effective index and propagation length of the fundamental mode can be adjusted by the centric distance of two ellipses as well as the size of the two semiaxis. At a certain working wavelength, relative to the case of a=b, in the case of ab, the size of the contact area of field and metallic surface is large, the interaction of field and silver is weak, the effective index becomes small, so the propagation length becomes large. With certain geometric parameters, relative to the case of λ=7050 nm, in the case of larger λ, the area of field distribution is large, the size of the contact area of field and metallic surface is also large, the interaction of field and silver is weak, the effective index becomes small, so the propagation length becomes large. This kind of metallic surface plasmonic waveguide can be applied to the field of photonic device integration and sensors.
