Like most organizations, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) generates a lot of data of varying types, from clinical to staffing and operations. However, these datasets are separated, preventing effective analytics. To improve workforce management and care delivery, CHOP's Nursing department collaborated with the Data & Analytics team to create a dashboard-based platform for analyzing workforce metrics and patient outcomes, aiding nursing leaders in decision-making. This project involved multiple phases with contributions from Nursing, Data & Analytics, CHOP's Data Trust Office, and Human Resources. Key performance indicators were identified, and a variety of data sources were aggregated to provide a comprehensive view of the nursing enterprise. The resulting platform offers automated, current, and reliable analytics on various aspects, including nursing demographics, education, survey results, staffing actuals by job group, and patient and family experience data. The platform's usability was assessed using a modified Health Information Technology Usability Evaluation Scale survey, with a 29% response rate primarily from senior directors and managers. The findings showed high usability and satisfaction, indicating the dashboard is a valuable decision-support tool. Lessons learned include the need for analytics education for nurses and mid-managers, the inclusion of critical nursing-specific metrics (and development of the data pipelines making them possible), and the integration of multidisciplinary team metrics for comprehensive nursing analytics. Background and Aim: A medication dashboard could provide executive directors and managers with the ability to manage medication resources in hospitals. This study aimed to design, implement, and evaluate a medication resources management dashboard for general hospitals. Materials and Methods: This study was of the development-applied type conducted in an academic therapeutic community center. Based on scientific sources, the dashboard’s key performance indicators (KPIs) and functional requirements were identified. The data collection tool was a questionnaire comprising demographic information, KPIs, and functional requirements. The dashboard conceptual model was designed using Rational Rose software, and then POWER BI software was used to develop the system. The usability of the dashboard was evaluated using the standard questionnaire for End User Computing Satisfaction by 10 users. The data were analyzed in SPSS software using descriptive statistics. Results: The most important KPIs determined for a medication resources management dashboard in general hospitals were “the ratio of antibiotic consumption to total number of drugs”, “the ratio of the antibiotic prescribed by general practitioners to total number of drugs”, “the ratio of patients for whom antibiotics were prescribed to all patients”, and “the ratio of the number of drug items prescribed by specialists to all physicians”. The most important functional requirements determined were “updating information at specific intervals “, “checking the dashboard at different time intervals”, “defining access levels to view the information”, and “choosing between graphical and tabular displays”. Usability evaluation showed that users’ satisfaction with the dashboard content variable was “very high” and for the other variables was at a “high” level. Conclusion: The KPIs associated with antibiotics and drug costs within the medication dashboard of general hospitals are high priority. Future studies should evaluate the impact of using a medication dashboard on hospital executive directors’ and managers’ decision-making.

This research discusses the implementation of Business Intelligence (BI) to enhance the profitability of The Look Company through the synergy of product departments. In the era of big data, a company's ability to process and analyse data becomes a crucial factor in achieving competitive advantage. This research aims to present data information from The Look Company's Product Departments in the form of visualizations, graphs, and diagrams that can be used as indicators for decision-making. It also aims to identify products that are not generating significant profitability for the company in order to optimize production costs and to identify products that experience frequent cancellations and returns. This analysis and recommendations are intended to assist The Look Company in its decision-making process through the implementation of a comprehensive and detailed Business Intelligence study. Additionally, this research outlines the steps of data collection and processing methods using tools such as Google Colab, Postgree, and Tableau to generate visualizations, graphs, and diagrams that provide indicators and recommendations for decision-making within The Look Company. The research results indicate that the BI data visualization dashboard plays a crucial role in determining business strategies and providing rapid and accurate decision-making recommendations. According to the administration of research data and funding for governmental organizations and funding agencies, the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) employs a National Research Management System (NRMS). NRCT needs different categories of data to provide information to various government departments to make policy decisions related to research funding. NRMS has so far collected a significant amount of such data. However, the tools needed for prompt analysis of such large amounts of data are inadequate. The purpose of this article is to discuss a multi-dimensional report system to provide enhanced information to support the decisions of policymakers. This involves creating reports with diverse views based on the numerous fields in the system, such as sorting by year, funding entity, ministry, department, policy and research strategy, and research issues, etc. and exhibiting a dashboard report to the officers and executives responsible for decision-making in the form of an overview of national research data by using Business Intelligence (BI). For the development of the report system, the research uses Tableau software. The officers who assessed the proposed report system expressed satisfaction, as shown by the outcomes of the user evaluations. This paper intends to outline a data integration response to the demands placed on the pastoral care department through the COVID-19 pandemic. Uniquely, these demands accelerated the need to implement documentation of care directed towards staff to complement the data derived from patient visitation. The motivation for this initiative is in part, to provide a complete picture of the care provided by hospital chaplains using an evidence-based approach through the implementation of data science. The color combination is an important factor affecting dashboard visual design and is key to triggering the operator's visual harmony and emotion. However, in the actual design process, the relationship among the different color schemes of a dashboard and the operator's harmony, pleasure, and cognitive load has not been effectively analyzed. To solve this problem, two methods, questionnaire measurement and eye movement tracking, were used to evaluate the effects of 24‐color combinations under four‐color schemes of a dashboard by analyzing the changes in color harmony, pleasure, eye movement indicators. The four schemes were red–yellow–blue, green–purple–orange, blue green–blue purple–yellow green, and red orange–yellow orange–red purple. The research results show that the degrees of color harmony and pleasure show a positive correlation. Cognitive load is not affected by color harmony. The larger the amount of information, the higher the cognitive load. This research can be used as a reference when designing and optimizing the color scheme of a business intelligence dashboard. Background: Health care organizations increasingly depend on business intelligence tools, including "dashboards," to capture, analyze, and present data on performance metrics. Ideally, dashboards allow users to quickly visualize actionable data to inform and optimize clinical and organizational performance. In reality, dashboards are typically embedded in complex health care organizations with massive data streams and end users with distinct needs. Thus, designing effective dashboards is a challenging task and theoretical underpinnings of health care dashboards are poorly characterized; even the concept of the dashboard remains ill-defined. Researchers, informaticists, clinical managers, and health care administrators will benefit from a clearer understanding of how dashboards have been developed, implemented, and evaluated, and how the design, end user, and context influence their uptake and effectiveness. Objective: This scoping review first aims to survey the vast published literature of "dashboards" to describe where, why, and for whom they are used in health care settings, as well as how they are developed, implemented, and evaluated. Further, we will examine how dashboard design and content is informed by intended purpose and end users. Methods: In July 2020, we searched MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library for peer-reviewed literature using a targeted strategy developed with a research librarian and retrieved 5188 results. Following deduplication, 3306 studies were screened in duplicate for title and abstract. Any abstracts mentioning a health care dashboard were retrieved in full text and are undergoing duplicate review for eligibility. Articles will be included for data extraction and analysis if they describe the development, implementation, or evaluation of a dashboard that was successfully used in routine workflow. Articles will be excluded if they were published before 2015, the full text is unavailable, they are in a non-English language, or they describe dashboards used for public health tracking, in settings where direct patient care is not provided, or in undergraduate medical education. Any discrepancies in eligibility determination will be adjudicated by a third reviewer. We chose to focus on articles published after 2015 and those that describe dashboards that were successfully used in routine practice to identify the most recent and relevant literature to support future dashboard development in the rapidly evolving field of health care informatics. Results: All articles have undergone dual review for title and abstract, with a total of 2019 articles mentioning use of a health care dashboard retrieved in full text for further review. We are currently reviewing all full-text articles in duplicate. We aim to publish findings by mid-2022. Findings will be reported following guidance from the PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews) checklist. Conclusions: This scoping review will provide stakeholders with an overview of existing dashboard tools, highlighting the ways in which dashboards have been developed, implemented, and evaluated in different settings and for different end user groups, and identify potential research gaps. XYZ is a company engaged in the port sector. To support the company’s business processes, XYZ uses two applications to carry out operational activities, namely the CARTOS application to manage invoices and the Finance application to record company costs and revenues. To produce a cost accounting report, XYZ is still processing and visualizing it manually with data sources from the two applications mentioned earlier. This resulted in quite a long time processing data into information. So that reporting to management cannot be done in real time. Therefore XYZ needs a system that can help management to analyze and manage data into information in real time. The Business Intelligence (BI) method is one of the solutions for company needs, especially in analyzing and providing access to data to help make better decisions.

The Religious Research, Development and Training Agency of the Ministry of Religious Affairs as a supervisory unit for Widyaiswara functional positions, has the task of evaluating the performance of Widyaiswara of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. That demands the availability of a need for reports or data that presented quickly and accurately when the Widyaiswara performance evaluation process is conducted every year. The problem that occurs these days is that the data on the result of credit score of Widyaiswara assessment are stored in an unstructured excel file. This study utilizes the data warehouse and business intelligence in the process of Widyaiswara performance evaluation. The OLTP (Online Transaction Process) Data that presented for data warehouse is the result of credit score of Widyaiswara assessment. The planning of data warehouse conducted through nine-steps methodology that created by Kimball and Ross, then those data were analyzed using OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) in the application of qliksense in the form of dashboard business intelligence to present the data in a faster visual form. The result, giving the information to the leader to evaluate the performance of Widyaiswara, especially in making decision such as circular letter to improve the quality of Widyaiswara performance, the minimum score limit in the performance agreement, reward in the form of certificate of appreciation for the highest score and punishment in the form of warning letter for the low total score.

This research paper considers the problem of dashboard design as part of the Business Process Management lifecycle, where it is become necessary to monitor and control the current state of the organizational business processes. Therefore, designed dashboards should fully correspond to the features of the considered business processes, such as Key Performance Indicators and possible stakeholders, which are considered here as users of the developed Business Intelligence dashboard application. At the same time, according to the state-of-the-art in the field of data visualization, it is required to choose data visualization techniques, which are clear, easy interpretable, space efficient, attractive, and legible. In general, the dashboard design problem requires placing various visualization tools in a relatively small place, such as a screen of a computer, a laptop, a tablet, or even a smart phone, while keeping them accessible and easy to understand. At first, as part of the related work review and analysis, we have considered the core architecture of the dashboards and reporting applications. It is outlined that modern dashboards might use various big data chunks, such as databases of enterprise information systems of different types, spreadsheets data, and even unstructured documents. In order to summarize all the raw data from these data sources, the Data Warehouse should be built and, moreover, it should correspond to the metrics and indicators of business processes that should be demonstrated on a dashboard. We have also considered main principles, common mistakes, and graphs and charts that might be used to design a dashboard for business analytics purposes. Using the existing research in this field, the levels of informativeness were defined for each visualization tool, as well as the best practices of mapping various data types to graphs and charts are outlined. Proposed model of the da shboard design is based on the mathematical optimization. It is used to provide recommendations on which visualization tool should be used to display a certain Key Performance Indicator on a dashboard that corresponds to a certain user role. Development and usage of the software solution that implements the proposed model is outlined, as well as the obtained results of validation of the proposed software solution are shown and discussed.

Laboratory tests provide essential support to the veterinary practitioner, and their use has grown exponentially. This growth is the result of several factors, such as the eradication of historical diseases, the occurrence of multifactorial diseases, and the obligation to control endemic and epidemic diseases. However, the introduction of novel techniques is counterbalanced by economic constraints, and the establishment of evidence- and consensus-based guidelines is essential to support the pathologist. Therefore, we developed standardized protocols, categorized by species, type of production, age, and syndrome at the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe), a multicenter institution for animal health and food safety. We have 72 protocols in use for livestock, poultry, and pets, categorized as, for example, "bovine enteric calf", "rabbit respiratory", "broiler articular". Each protocol consists of a panel of tests, divided into 'mandatory' and 'ancillary', to be selected by the pathologist in order to reach the final diagnosis. After autopsy, the case is categorized into a specific syndrome, subsequently referred to as a syndrome-specific panel of analyses. The activity of the laboratories is monitored through a web-based dynamic reporting system developed using a business intelligence product (QlikView) connected to the laboratory information management system (IZILAB). On a daily basis, reports become available at general, laboratory, and case levels, and are updated as needed. The reporting system highlights epidemiologic variations in the field and allows verification of compliance with the protocols within the organization. Design Thinking has been applied successfully in many fields; however, in Information Systems research most early studies focus on applying the specific toolsets to developing product and system designs to solve strategic, managerial, and operational problems. There is little research on how Design Thinking can be embedded in the learning processes in design‐oriented IS research and enabled in the context of business intelligence (BI) and business analytics (BA). How can Design Thinking be embedded in the learning processes and enabled in the context of BI/BA projects in the classroom environment, especially in the proof of concept stage? A practical view on integrating the mindset and toolset of the Design Thinking approach and in the learning process as a case based in‐class experience is presented along with a guideline for coaching the Design Thinking team and the lessons learned from each stage of Design Thinking. The results of this study show that Design Thinking practices can be enlisted to help students frame their creations and that these practices have a valuable contribution as alternatives when designing curricula for teaching and learning. Universities are dealing with a huge volume of data, but they use them less than expected levels. The aim of the current study was to use visual information for supporting the decision-making process. In this cross-sectional study, 30 academic managers were recruited at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. A structured interview was prepared for collecting data based on the related literature. The instrument was approved in terms of validity and reliability (a=98%). SPSS 21 was used for analyzing data. Then, a list of 85 Key Performance Indicators (KPI) was organized for designing the digital dashboard. A three-layer architecture was selected as the architectural pattern, and the conceptual model of the system was developed by applying the UML. Finally, the Qlikview was utilized to design the dashboard for the visualization of information. Twelve main features, including 85 KPIs, were determined for designing dashboards. User interface items were visualized using the most important features and KPIs. By applying a designed dashboard, academic managers can identify trends, strengths, and weaknesses. Health information systems have been developed to help hospital managers steer daily operations, including key performance indicators (KPIs) for monitoring on a time-aggregated basis. Yet, current literature lacks in proposals of productivity dashboards to assist hospitals stakeholders. This research focuses on two related problems: (1) hospital organizations need access to productivity information to improve access to services; and (2) managers need productivity information to optimize resource allocation. This research consists in the development of dashboards to monitor information obtained from a hospital organization to support decision makers. To develop and evaluate the productivity dashboard, the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology was adopted. The dashboard was evaluated by stakeholders of a large Portuguese hospital who contributed to iteratively improving its design toward a useful decision support tool. Additionally, it was ascertained that monitoring productivity needs more study and that the dashboards on these themes are valuable assets at a monitoring level and subsequent decision-making process. For this, a higher level of application is required, with Business Intelligence applications that provide information that no one else can offer faster. Winning time can be used to identify other issues related to available information or activities that add value to the company. After all, management time is a decision, and the decision is valuable only if it occurs at the right time. In this article I presented the benefits of implementing a business intelligence solution in a company, as well as how to design analytical reports using the QlikView application.

A Business Intelligence (BI) dashboard is a tool that transforms information and displays Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and metrics to assess the organization's performance. Besides, it is a powerful application to elaborate on the dashboard with big data. It is also more useful for the main reports to project managers, project directors, and executive managers. Can Business Intelligence's applications provide efficiency of use of resources, the stability of administration of the information, scalability to share spreadsheets or data, and avoid indifference from managers of watching the reports generated? What other advantages of making a dashboard with Business Intelligence platforms compare to other reporting software? This research is important: - To determine the advantages of Business Intelligence over other report software - To define the main attributes to choose a Business Intelligence dashboard tool. - To decide what challenges executive managers have to overcome to use a Business Intelligence dashboard. This paper concluded the following: - BI platform does not offer any advantage compared to other reporting software. The author has not perceived any benefit elaborating on the charts because it was not intuitive to set figures and parameters. Dundas BI online version is the platform that replicates most of the metrics. - A BI dashboard tool should include attributes, the modification of arrangements, or formats of data source. Online versions do not include this feature. Also, online versions do not include all the charts listed in the manuals and other characteristics as assigning more values to a secondary axis. And the most important is that BI platforms should be more intuitive in setting the parameters of different axis. - The challenges that executive managers have to overcome to get the full value of BI applications are that not all the information is replicable in BI dashboard tools. Also, as they are not intuitive, a skilled manager with an advanced level of MS Excel might discourage him/her from using BI tools. Another factor that might stop using BI tools is that Data Source uses different formats from different supporting areas. It should be standard. And finally, a good challenge should be to train project team members in using significant amount of data with several dimensions to use charts that are more interactive with users in selecting and in filtering to report specific indicators.
