Background To assess caregivers’knowledge of first aid for small-area thermal burns in children, and reduce burns-induced morbidity and damage in children. Methods The multi-stage cluster random sampling method was used to recruit school-age children from different kinds of schools. For each child, we selected only one caregiver as our study participant. First-aid knowledge regarding small area burns in children and choices of medical treatment were investigated in the manner of questionnaires. Results The effective response rate of questionnaire was 99.4% (5814/5850). Folk remedies and daily necessities were chosen by 17.8% (1,036/5814) and 48.9% (2841/5814), respectively. 39.8% (2,312/5814) of caregivers knew all standard burn first aid measures. Moreover, the proportion of knowing all five measures among caregivers with undergraduate education was significantly higher than the figures among those with other educational levels. Conclusions Child caregivers had poor knowledge of first aid for small area burns in children. Only a few caregivers knew all five standard first aid measures for managing small area burns. Many non-scientific and inappropriate home remedies are still widely applied among Shanghai citizens. Our study results suggest relevant scientific evidence-informed measures should be more widely disseminated to the citizens.

These differences between languages are called curve phenomenon. This paper summarized fourteen kinds of curve phenomena between English and Chinese, and proposed a new method to solve curve phenomenon based on Semantic Element, especially importing context variable and type-curve SE to solve curve phenomenon problems radically.

Ear and face based multimodal recognition could fully utilize their connection relationship, and implement recognizing people without their cooperation because of ear’s special physiological location and structure. In this paper akernel-based feature fusion algorithm is presented and applied to multimodal recognition based on fusing ear and face. With the algorithm, the associated feature vectors of ear and profile face are established for the following classification. The experimental results show that the method is efficient for feature fusion, and the multimodal recognition based on ear and profile face performs better than ear or profile face unimodal biometric recognition.

This article introduces a method of optimizing design of ASSEL roller profile. It obtains the feed angle and toe angle for all rolling gauges with genetic artificial neural network (GANN), and to optimize weight coefficient and network structure by training of weight value of genetic neural network. The model was tested on the imported ASSEL mill. The results indicate that the inaccuracy of feed angle and toe angle obtained based on the model were both less than plusmn2%. With obtained feed angle and toe angle, ASSEL roller characteristic parameters of each gauge can be calculated via roller profile design formulas provided by MEER of Germany. The ASSEL roll profile characteristic parameter values are determined by searching all common characteristics and approximate attribute in the possible gauges with parallel optimization method, one of the generic algorithms (GA).

Experimental study was perfumed to explore the potential benefits of electrochemical therapy (ECT) in tumor-bearing mice. The mice were divided into four groups: Group A, received ECT alone; Group B, radiotherapy alone; Group C, ECT plus radiotherapy; and group D untreated control. We find that it causes tumor growth delayed when ECT of 10 coulombs and radiotherapy 10 GY have the similar action of resisted cancer. We also find G2-phase arrest and increase apoptosis by cell flow cytometry after treatment when ECT and/or radiation. ECT plus radiotherapy have cooperative antitumor effects.
