The Tokyo sky tree is supported by the pile group foundation using under-reamed diaphragm-wall-type piles with different sizes. This report describes the outline of the foundation design, the evaluation method in design of the effect of pile group and the analytical results of FEM. The results of this study are shown as follows: (1) The pile group efficiency is 0.58, 0.49 and 0.68 - 0.73 respectively under pushing, pulling and lateral load. (2) In case of the lateral loading, the pile group efficiency changed according to the direction of the load and the position of the piles.

In this paper, the piled raft foundation is supported with thin cement treated soil layer below the raft and various length of friction piles. The part of this raft has a possibility of rising to the surface by over-turning moment of the tall building during a big earthquake. The authors present the outline of designing the foundation, the comparative studies on estimated settlements and measured results, and the analysis results of the lateral resistance of the piled raft which considered the rising zone of the raft from the surface.

We developed a new system called CarettaKids that supports face-to-face collaborative learning by children. CarettaKids uses a sensing board based on the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to support collaboration in a shared space, and the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) device to support activity in personal spaces. We also introduced this system into an actual classroom environment to evaluate its performance in support for children's collaborative learning, by analyzing the childrens' interaction. As a result, we have confirmed that CarettaKids's feature of transition between two spaces, makes it possible for children to reflect on problems detected in the shared space so as to find solutions in their respective personal space, and to engage in an active exchange of opinions in the shared space, based on ideas generated from personal-space learning.

脳循環調節機序における自律神経系の役割を明らかにする目的で, 成熟猫13匹を用い, 強力なdopamine-beta-hydroxylase阻害剤であるfusaric acidの脳血管におよぼす影響を検討した.fusaric acidの静脈内投与により, 脳血管が拡張し脳血流は有意に増加した.次いで脳血管のCO2反応性をDBH阻害前後で比較した.Hypercapneaに対する脳血管拡張反応性は, DBH阻害後推計学的に有意に増大した.更にhypocapneaに対する脳血管収縮反応性についても, DBH阻害前後で比較した.DBH阻害後, 脳血管収縮反応性がやや増大する傾向をみせたが, 推計学的に有意ではなかった.以上のことより, 交感神経系は脳血管のtonusに関与しており, 更に脳血管のCO2 に対する拡張反応性に抑制的に作用しているといえる.

A total of 179 cases with various intracranial disorders was treated by intravenous administration of 10 to 15% glycerol solution in an attempt to con-trol cerebral edema.Hemoglobinuria was noted in 9 cases as a clinical side-effect.However, it was transient and no patient developed serious renal function. Liver dysfunction was observed although it could not be attributed directly to the administration of glycerol. Histopathologic assessments were made of the kidneys, liver and spleen in 20 cases of death among the 179 glycerol-treated patients. The microscopic findings in these cases were essentially the same as those observed in cases not receiving glycerol treatmnt.Thus there was no evidence of significant adverse findings attributable to the administration of glycerol.The results of the present clinical trials indicate that the dosage and administration procedure employed, i.e. intravenous infusion of 10 to 15% glycerol at a rate of 15-25 gm per hour, is appropriate when viewed from the standpoint of minimizing adverse side-effects.
