PurposeUnderpinned by the consumer-based model of authenticity (CBA), this study aims to investigate whether leisure involvement, object-based and existential authenticity, host sincerity and engagement stimulate positive memorable visitor experiences in a distinctive commercial hospitality setting: a living history site.Design/methodology/approachQuantitative data were gathered from living history site visitors (n= 1,004), with partial least squares structural equation modeling used to test the hypothesized relationships.FindingsThe results confirm the inclusion of the hypothesized relationships between leisure involvement, sincerity and authenticity, relative to engagement and subsequent memorability. The findings suggest that engagement can be a predictor of a positive memorable experience, contingent on CBA constructs (sincerity; object-based authenticity; existential authenticity). The significant association between object-based authenticity and memorable experience identified herein differs from some published studies, while other results are broadly consistent with extant research. Results also reveal significant differences for visitors who purchased souvenirs when compared to those who did not.Research limitations/implicationsThe research extends the CBA by positing sincere hospitality as a relationship-based encounter between host and guest that influences social interaction, engagement and memorability within the novel living history site context. Further, the ability to differentiate visitors based on their purchases at the site is illustrated.Originality/valueGiven the ubiquity of engagement and authenticity as precursors to memorable experiences within contemporary commercial hospitality and heritage discourses, the findings apply to hospitality experiences beyond the living history site context examined herein.

Linguists have been focused on a qualitative comparison of the semantics from different languages. Evaluation of the semantic interpretation among disparate language pairs like English and Tamil is an even more formidable task than for Slavic languages. The concept of word embedding in Natural Language Processing (NLP) has enabled a felicitous opportunity to quantify linguistic semantics. Multi-lingual tasks can be performed by projecting the word embeddings of one language onto the semantic space of the other. This research presents a suite of data-efficient deep learning approaches to deduce the transfer function from the embedding space of English to that of Tamil, deploying three popular embedding algorithms: Word2Vec, GloVe and FastText. A novel evaluation paradigm was devised for the generation of embeddings to assess their effectiveness, using the original embeddings as ground truths. Transferability across other target languages of the proposed model was assessed via pre-trained Word2Vec embeddings from Hindi and Chinese languages. We empirically prove that with a bilingual dictionary of a thousand words and a corresponding small monolingual target (Tamil) corpus, useful embeddings can be generated by transfer learning from a well-trained source (English) embedding. Furthermore, we demonstrate the usability of generated target embeddings in a few NLP use-case tasks, such as text summarization, part-of-speech (POS) tagging, and bilingual dictionary induction (BDI), bearing in mind that those are not the only possible applications.

Introduction Periodontal ligament cells (PDLC) respond to the application of mechanical forces by releasing various molecules that participate in bone remodeling. Whether these cellular reactions take place at the same rate in adolescent and adult patients is not known. In this study, we aimed to evaluate differences in genetic expression, if any, between the release of various inflammatory mediators from PDLC in adolescent and adult patients before and after the application of orthodontic forces. Methods Forty subjects with bimaxillary dentoalveolar protrusion requiring extraction of first premolars for orthodontic treatment were selected and divided into 2 groups. Group A included 20 adolescents (aged 12-20 years), and group B included 20 adults (aged 35-50 years). Then, 35-50 g of force were applied to the maxillary first premolars, and teeth were extracted at different periods: pretreatment (control group), 7 days, 14 days, and 28 days (experimental group). The periodontal ligament was scraped from the middle third of the root, and the beta-galactosidase assay was performed in the control group. RNA extraction, DNase treatment, quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and complementary DNA synthesis were performed in the experimental group. Results Adult PDLC exhibited senescent changes through increased beta-galactosidase activity. The increase in the inflammatory response and bone resorption in adult patients was evident by increased prostaglandin E2, IL1B, and acid phosphatase mRNA expression levels. Controlled bone formation response by adolescent PDLC was evident from increased ALP and BGLAP mRNA levels and a balanced receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-Β ligand/OPG ratio. Conclusions The study could identify the reasons behind the differential response of adolescent and adult PDLC to orthodontic mechanics.

Hevea brasiliensis/Rubber tree is considered to be the most predominant plantation crop in Kerala which was found to be the major source of income for the 11.5 lakh planters within Kerala. Due to the availability of natural rubber from foreign countries at cheaper price, the current market price as well as the demand of Indian rubber is decreasing. Unfortunately in addition to low income from rubber, non availability of skilled laborers and the increased labor charges prevent the planters from continuing tapping in their plantations. Even though laborers are available for low cost, they cannot be utilized for this job since it requires good tapping skills and prior experience. This paper discusses a semi automatic rubber tapping machine at an affordable price which can be used by an unskilled labor. This proposed machine is a battery powered tool with a specially designed cutting blade and guide mechanism, supported by a sensory system which assists the operator to perform tapping of required quality and standards on all trees in a plantation. For validating the concept a prototype is being developed and tested.

Rubber tree tapping is considered to be a skill oriented job and the availability of such labors are getting worse day by day. This is considered to be the one of the reason which affected the natural rubber productivity from Indian plantations. Even though cheap unskilled labors are available, they cannot be used for tapping by using the traditional V groove knife or Jabong knife. So this paper discusses about a low semi automatic rubber tree tapping machine (SART) which can be used by an unskilled labor to perform tapping on the rubber tree by preserving the tree health. The proposed machine is fabricated and tested on the tree. Also a comparative study is made on the effort required to operate the machine with the traditional tapping knives used for the purpose.

Background: In developing countries, specifically in India, millions of women and newborns die or experience serious health problems related to pregnancy and childbirth each year and many women do not have the good fortune to be attended by skilled personnel during childbirth. This lack of skilled attendance could be considered as one of the major factors in maternal and infantile mortality. Each year 3.3 million babies or may be even more are stillborn, more than 4 million die within 28 days of coming into the world, and a further 6.6 million young children die before their 5th birthday. From 2006 to 2012 the average complicated neonatal admissions with low birth weight children’s in virudhunagar district were 200. Also the researcher would like to found that how the Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and New Born Care Centre (CEmONC) service gives opportunity to celebrate their 5th birthday for low birth children born in 2007 and to assess the factors determining the place of delivery and is Health system giving life year gain to Children? Methodology: The present study was undertaken in Virudhunagar District of South Tamil Nadu with primary and secondary data. The Secondary data were collected from all CEmONC Centres under Tamil Nadu Health System Project (TNHSP) and beneficiaries under Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme (MRMBS) in 2007. The work presents an experimental method of understanding the force applied during a manual rebar bending process. The study tracks the force with the variation of the angle of bend and the elapsed time from the start to the end of a complete manual rebar bending process. A sample of expert rebar bending labourers are used for conducting the experiment and the data processed to set a performance standard. If a simulator based rebar bending training can be provided for a novice, this standard can be used as a matrix to define how close a novice rebar bender is closing to the expertise.

BACKGROUND: Few data are available regarding the use of antithrombotic strategies in coronary artery disease patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) in everyday practice. We sought to describe the prevalence of AF and its antithrombotic management in a contemporary population of patients with stable coronary artery disease.METHODS AND FINDINGS: CLARIFY is an international, prospective, longitudinal registry of outpatients with stable coronary artery disease, defined as prior (≥12 months) myocardial infarction, revascularization procedure, coronary stenosis >50%, or chest pain associated with evidence of myocardial ischemia. Overall, 33,428 patients were screened, of whom 32,954 had data available for analysis at baseline; of these 2,229 (6.7%) had a history of AF. Median (interquartile range) CHA2DS2-VASc score was 4 (3, 5). Oral anticoagulation alone was used in 25.7%, antiplatelet therapy alone in 52.8% (single 41.8%, dual 11.0%), and both in 21.5%. OAC use was independently associated with permanent AF (pCONCLUSIONS: In this contemporary cohort of patients with stable coronary artery disease and AF, most of whom are theoretical candidates for anticoagulation, oral anticoagulants were used in only 47.2%. Half of the patients received antiplatelet therapy alone and one-fifth received both antiplatelets and oral anticoagulants. An experimental helium refrigerator/liquefier, using ultra high speed cryogenic turboexpanders, is designed and developed at Cryo-Technology Division, BARC. The developed system is based on the modified Claude cycle. The developed system is presently fully functional consisting of process compressor with gas management system, coldbox, helium receiver Dewar, tri-axial transfer line and helium recovery system. Extended trial runs are conducted to evaluate the performance of the developed system. During these trials, liquefaction rate of around 32 l/hr and refrigeration capacity of around 190W is achieved. The paper addresses design, development and commissioning aspects of the developed helium liquefier along with results of performance evaluation trial runs.

S. aureus causes superficial to deep seated infections in human beings. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus arueus (MRSA) evolved in the 1960s and since then has become a worldwide concern owing to increasing morbidity and mortality in health-care settings and even community. (MRSA) is a resistant variant of S. aureus which are resistant to beta-lactum antibiotics and other classes of antimicrobials. Early and accurate detection of MRSA and their antimicrobial susceptibility profile is therefore imperative for the selection of appropriate antimicrobial therapy. A total of 300 isolates of S. aureus collected from January 2010 to December 2012 were included in the study. S. aureus was characterized based on morphological and biochemical characters. To receive a pure culture, the isolates were grown on mannitol salt agar with supplement 5% v/v egg yolk emulsion. Antibiotic susceptibility testing was carried out on the strains by disc diffusion technique and the results interrupted according to Clinical laboratory standards International (CLSI) guidelines. A significant proportion of the S. aureus isolates were obtained from the exudates (226) specimens in all the three years followed by blood (48), urine (16) and respiratory (10). The average resistance seen in the 300 isolates tested was ampicillin (97.2%), cephelaxin (94%), cefotaxime (96.4%), cloxacillin (100%), erythromycin (82.6%), Gentamycin (76.3%), ciprofloxacin (54.4%), clindamycin (40.4%) and linezolid and vancomycin were susceptible for all the strains. In conclusion, the prevalence of MRSA in our health-care setting is 45% among the clinical isolates of S. aureus. Active screening and proper infection control procedures need to be adopted to control the MRSA infection.

We encountered 2 siblings with corneal opacities, anemia, decreased concentration of plasma esterified cholesterol, chronic renal failure and markedly reduced levels of plasma lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase. Renal biopsy in 1 patient showed clear lacunae containing characteristic dense bodies in the glomerular and tubular basement membranes and the interstitium. One of the 2 siblings received a kidney transplant and is doing well after 9 years. This is the first report of this rare metabolic disease from India.

An experimental helium refrigerator/liquefier is being designed and developed by Cryo-Technology Division to be installed at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai. During first trial runs, certain limitations of the process were observed and some other fabrication/development issues came to light. After detailed steady state cycle simulation studies, it was decided to undertake some major modifications to achieve the target of about 200W refrigeration capacity at around 4.7K. The most significant modification involved changing the basic thermodynamic cycle from Collins to a modified Claude cycle which is more suited to turboexpanders. To this effect, simulation studies on the new cycle, with two turboexpanders in series interspaced with a multi stream heat exchanger, was taken up and the process computed. The present paper aims to describe in details different studies taken up on the helium refrigerator. It also aims to provide an update on the present status of development of the helium refrigerator/liquefier.

A transferline with a triaxial bayonet for connecting a helium liquefier cold box and Dewar has been conceived. Liquid helium (LHe) settles in the Dewar vessel and the remaining cold gaseous helium (GHe) returns to the cold-box as a part of the liquefier cycle. The two coaxial lines are enclosed in an outermost vacuum line. These three coaxial lines come out of the liquefier through a triaxial bayonet joint which facilitates assembly/disassembly of the system due to the absence of welded joints. The present paper discusses schematic, design, and working of such a triaxial bayonet. It is conceived such that reduction in overall length, ease of fabrication, reduction of thermal stresses due to flexibility of bellows and reduction in fabrication cost are achieved.
