Bolton Medical’s RelayPlus thoracic aortic endograft is another alternative on the market for the repair of thoracic aortic aneurysms and penetrating atherosclerotic ulcerations. The device includes a stabilizing “S-bar” with the theoretical advantage of better aortic apposition and a proximal bare-metal fixation system. The device is deployed by unsheathing it in a “pin-and-pull” fashion and features a tip-capture deployment mechanism to prevent improper placement of the endograft. Clinical trials have demonstrated adequate outcomes, with no Type I or Type III endoleaks. With these features, the RelayPlus serves as another reliable device in the vascular surgeon’s armamentarium for the treatment of thoracic aortic aneurysms.
