Currently, the world is facing a severe pandemic caused by the new severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus. Although the WHO has recommended preventive measures to limit its spread, Brazil has neglected most of these recommendations, and consequently, our country has the second largest number of deaths from COVID-19 worldwide. In addition, recent studies have shown the relationship between socioeconomic inequalities and the risk of severe COVID-19 infection. Herein, we aimed to assess the spatiotemporal distribution of mortality and lethality rates of COVID-19 in a region of high social vulnerability in Brazil (Northeast region) during the first year of the pandemic. A segmented log-linear regression model was applied to assess temporal trends of mortality and case fatality rate (CFR) and according to the social vulnerability index (SVI). The Local Empirical Bayesian Estimator and Global Moran Index were used for spatial analysis. We conducted a retrospective space–time scan to map clusters at high risk of death from COVID-19. A total of 66,358 COVID-19–related deaths were reported during this period. The mortality rate was 116.2/100,000 inhabitants, and the CFR was 2.3%. Nevertheless, CFR was > 7.5% in 27 municipalities (1.5%). We observed an increasing trend of deaths in this region (AMCP = 18.2; P = 0.001). Also, increasing trends were observed in municipalities with high (N = 859) and very high SVI (N = 587). We identified two significant spatiotemporal clusters of deaths by COVID-19 in this Brazilian region (P = 0.001), and most high-risk municipalities were on the coastal strip of the region. Taken together, our analyses demonstrate that the pandemic has been responsible for several deaths in Northeast Brazil, with clusters at high risk of mortality mainly in municipalities on the coastline and those with high SVI.

Objective: To evaluate the functional outcome of patients who underwent surgical treatment using the modified Weaver-Dunn technique for the treatment of acute acromioclavicular dislocation. Method: Retrospective case series study (level of evidence IV) based on their view of medical records of 20 patients who participated in a 25-week postoperative follow-up, in which they were assessed using the UCLA score and submitted to radiological control. This follow-up was due to surgical treatment for acromioclavicular dislocation using the modified Weaver-Dunn technique, with two 5.5mm-Peek Zip® anchors fixed to the coracoid process, with ties on the clavicle, and transfer of the coracoacromial ligament to the distal clavicle. Results: The patients were followed-up for 25 weeks, and all presented satisfactory functional results, with 70% considered excellent and 30% classified as good. However, a high rate of reduction loss of the acromioclavicular joint was observed, which corresponded to 6 of the 20 cases monitored. The average time before returning to routine activities was 20.7 weeks; the shortest was 16 weeks, and the longest, 30 weeks. Conclusion: In the present study, we found that all patients who were submitted to the described technique presented a low level of morbidity and satisfactory functional results (excellent and good), successfully returning to their everyday activities.

Background Schistosomiasis is a persistent public health problem in Brazil. Regardless advances in diagnosis and mass treatment, schistosomiasis has a severe impact on morbimortality in the country and remains a neglected tropical disease. Herein, we assessed the basic and associated causes of schistosomiasis-related deaths and the temporal and spatial patterns of mortality from the disease in Brazil between 1999 and 2018. Methods We conducted an ecological and time series study. The segmented log-linear regression model was applied to assess time trends, considering all deaths recorded in the category B65/ICD-10. Additionally, we elaborated maps of mortality rates from schistosomiasis in Brazil. Results A total of 4168 schistosomiasis-related deaths were recorded in Brazil in this period, as an associated cause. Time trend analysis revealed an increase in the average age of deaths from schistosomiasis (annual percentage change (APC) = 0.84), and stable trend in Brazil (APC = 0.31). Concerning schistosomiasis-related deaths, we observed disorders related to the digestive system, liver diseases, septicemias, and chronic diseases. Surprisingly, there were deaths caused by non-endemic Schistosoma species in Brazil. Also, municipalities from non-endemic areas in Brazil presented schistosomiasis-related deaths. Conclusion Altogether, our analyses demonstrated that schistosomiasis remains a significant cause of death in Brazil, and it is increasing in some areas, especially in the Northeast region. Additionally, women and the elderly showed a stable time trend of deaths. Thereby, it urgently requires improvements in the control programs strategies, in the sense of an effective reduction in cases and deaths from the disease in Brazil.

Background: Social inequalities in health have been linked to disproportional impacts in COVID-19 mortality. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the spatiotemporal distribution of the COVID-19-related mortality and its association with the Social Determinants of Health (SDH) in Sergipe, Northeastern Brazil. Method: Ecological study using spatiotemporal analysis tools. All confirmed deaths related to COVID-19 in Sergipe, Brazil, from March 14 th to October 31 st 2020, were included and we calculated moving averages. Mortality crude rates were smoothed through Empirical Bayesian Method and were used for spatial analysis. We carried out the retrospective spatiotemporal scan statistics using the Poisson’s probability model. We used the spatial regression models to identify the association between COVID-19 mortality and Social Determinants of Health. Findings: 2,206 deaths by COVID-19 were registered in Sergipe. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the renal function of rural workers in a city of northeastern Brazil. A cross-sectional study was carried out with 208 workers in Boquim, Sergipe, Brazil. Renal function markers and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) were evaluated and the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was determined. The sample consisted mainly of illiterate males with a low usage of personal protective equipment and no training. Approximately 40% had some level of renal failure. Relative risk (1.59) of GFR alteration was higher in workers with more than 5 yr of exposure, mainly to organophosphates. Workers more than 60 yr of age presented a 17.06 greater risk for manifesting acute intoxication. Butyrylcholinesterase reduction was associated with reports of intoxication (relative risk of 11.36). We concluded that exposure to pesticides represented a risk factor for the development of nephrotoxic effects and alteration of renal function, which reinforced the need to implement measures to protect rural workers. Fibular head avulsion fractures are rare and are so-called the arcuate signal. Avulsion fracture of the iliotibial band and anterolateral ligament is known as a Segond fracture, and it is another rare entity. We describe the case of a 27-year-old woman who was hit by a car and suffered polytrauma, mainly suffering injuries to both knees. Radiographs of the knees showed a Segond fracture associated with the arched signal bilaterally. The aim of this study is to present a rare case report and literature review of a bilateral fibular head avulsion fracture associated with an anterolateral tibial avulsion fracture.

INTRODUCTION: Considering that severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been detected in feces, this study aimed to verify a possible relationship between basic sanitation indices and coronavirus disease (COVID-19) numbers/rates. METHODS: Data of COVID-19 cases registered in Brazil until May 28, 2020, and independent variables associated with basic sanitation were analyzed. RESULTS: A significant correlation between the number of cases and sewage treatment index/population density was observed. In addition, COVID-19 incidence and mortality rates were significantly associated with the total water service index and lethality rate was significantly associated with the sewage treatment index. CONCLUSIONS: Precarious basic sanitation infrastructure may potentially increase the SARS-CoV-2 transmission in Brazil.

ObjectiveThis study aimed to analyse the clinical and epidemiological indicators, temporal trends and the spatial distribution of leprosy in patients under 15 years old in an endemic area of Northeast Brazil.DesignRegional surveillance study of all reported cases.SettingState of Sergipe, endemic area of Northeast Brazil.MethodsAn ecological and time series study was conducted, based on secondary data reported by the Brazilian Information System on Notifiable Diseases for leprosy cases diagnosed in Sergipe state (2002–2015). The analysis of temporal trends was performed using the Joinpoint Regression Programme through Poisson regression. We performed spatial analysis by Kernel estimator and Moran index.ResultsThe incidence rate was reduced from 6.29 to 3.78 cases per 100 000 inhabitants in 2002 and 2015, respectively. However, Sergipe was still classified as highly endemicity in 2015. The mean number of household contacts (HHC) examined was significantly lower than those registered. Clinical data indicated that 21.4% of the patients developed leprosy reactions, and 31.3% presented with some physical disability in the multibacillary groups. Patients diagnosed by examination within the HHC presented better indicators, such as lower percentage of leprosy reaction and physical disability. Spatial analysis showed the most risk areas distributed on the northeast and cities around the capital, Aracaju.ConclusionThe data indicate that there is a persistence of activeMyobacterium lepraetransmission and a delay in disease detection, following a pattern of high endemicity in many municipalities. The early detection by HHC examination is important to stop transmission and also to detect the cases in a less severe state.

Background Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It is a disease known worldwide for its vulnerability factors, magnitude and mortality. The objective of the study was to analyze the spatial and temporal dynamics of TB in the area of social inequality in northeast Brazil between the years 2001 and 2016. Methods An ecological time series study with the use of spatial analysis techniques was carried out from 2001 to 2016. The units of analysis were the 75 municipalities in the state of Sergipe. Data from the Notification of Injury Information System were used. For the construction of the maps, the cartographic base of the state of Sergipe, obtained at the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística, was used. Georeferenced data were analysed using TerraView 4.2.2 software (Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais) and QGis 2.18.2 (Open Source Geospatial Foundation). Spatial analyses included the empirical Bayesian model and the global and local Moran indices. The time trend analyses were performed by the software Joinpoint Regression, Version 4.5.0.1, with the variables of sex, age, cure and abandonment. Results There was an increasing trend of tuberculosis cases in patients under 20 years old and 20–39 years old, especially in males. Cured cases showed a decreasing trend, and cases of treatment withdrawal were stationary. A spatial dependence was observed in almost all analysed territories but with different concentrations. Significant spatial correlations with the formation of clusters in the southeast and northeast of the state were observed. The probability of illness among municipalities was determined not to occur in a random way. Conclusion The identification of risk areas and priority groups can help health planning by refining the focus of attention to tuberculosis control. Understanding the epidemiological, spatial and temporal dynamics of tuberculosis can allow for improved targeting of strategies for disease prevention and control.

Leprosy is a chronic disease caused by M. leprae infection that can cause severe neurological complications and physical disabilities. A leprosy-specific vaccine would be an important component within control programs but is still lacking. Given that multifunctional CD4 T cells [i.e., those capable of simultaneously secreting combinations of interferon (IFN)-γ, interleukin (IL)-2, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)] have now been implicated in the protective response to several infections, we tested the hypothesis if a recombinant M. leprae antigen-specific multifunctional T cells differed between leprosy patients and their healthy contacts. We used whole blood assays and peripheral blood mononuclear cells to characterize the antigen-specific T cell responses of 39 paucibacillary (PB) and 17 multibacillary (MB) leprosy patients and 31 healthy household contacts (HHC). Cells were incubated with either crude mycobacterial extracts (M. leprae cell sonicate–MLCS) and purified protein derivative (PPD) or recombinant ML2028 protein, the homolog of M. tuberculosis Ag85B. Multiplex assay revealed antigen-specific production of IFN-γ and IL-2 from cells of HHC and PB, confirming a Th1 bias within these individuals. Multiparameter flow cytometry then revealed that the population of multifunctional ML2028-specific T cells observed in HHC was larger than that observed in PB patients. Taken together, our data suggest that these multifunctional antigen-specific T cells provide a more effective response against M. leprae infection that prevents the development of leprosy. These data further our understanding of M. leprae infection/leprosy and are instructive for vaccine development.

Objetivo. O estudo analisa a produção científica em tecnologia da informação pelos professores do curso de biblioteconomia, da Faculdade de Ciência da Informação, da Univeridade de Brasília (Brasil), por meio dos Currículos da Plataforma Lattes dos citados professores. Método. Adota o método indutivo, a pesquisa bibliográfica como técnica, pesquisa quantitativa como abordagem de coleta de dados e a análise documental a partir do Currículo Lattes (Plataforma Lattes) dos professores selecionados. Resultados. Apresenta as áreas bases de dados, bibliotecas e repositórios digitais como as que possuem maior produção, e as áreas metadados e sistema de automação de bibliotecas como aquelas com carência de trabalhos publicados; os tipos de registros mais utilizados são os anais de congresso, trabalhos de conclusão de curso e artigos de periódicos, e os pouco usados são as teses e resumos expandidos; além da identificação de outras áreas não elencadas no escopo inicial do trabalho tais como gerenciamento eletrônico de documentos, preservação digital, segurança da informação, arquitetura da informação, hipertexto e tecnologias aplicadas. Conclusões. A análise da produção científica auxilia na tomada de decisão, idealiza um panorama de pesquisa dos professores, ajuda a compreender como determinada área se comporta e sua principal composição de assuntos.

Discute a Web 2.0 na perspectiva das Bibliotecas no ambiente digital, sendo esta uma rede interativa e colaborativa, que nasceu em 2004 com o intuito de capturar e aproveitar a inteligência competitiva. Adotam como base de discussão a própria Web 2.0 e suas tecnologias. Objetiva-se, a partir de um estudo bibliográfico e análise de sites, identificar as vertentes de estudo/atuação da Web 2.0 em Bibliotecas e, especificamente, elencar as tecnologias da Web 2.0, bem como pontuar as tecnologias da Web 2.0 adotadas em Bibliotecas. Almeja, segundo os resultados da pesquisa, que os dados coletados nos apresentem a realidade de discussão em Web 2.0 nas Bibliotecas. It is well established that helper T cell responses influence resistance or susceptibility to Mycobacterium leprae infection, but the role of more recently described helper T cell subsets in determining severity is less clear. To investigate the involvement of Th17 cells in the pathogenesis of leprosy, we determined the immune profile with variant presentations of leprosy. Firstly, IL-17A, IFN-γ and IL-10 were evaluated in conjunction with CD4+ T cell staining by confocal microscopy of lesion biopsies from tuberculoid (TT) and lepromatous (LL) patients. Secondly, inflammatory cytokines were measured by multiplex assay of serum samples from Multibacillary (MB, n = 28) and Paucibacillary (PB, n = 23) patients and household contacts (HHC, n = 23). Leprosy patients were also evaluated for leprosy reaction occurrence: LR+ (n = 8) and LR- (n = 20). Finally, peripheral blood mononuclear cells were analyzed by flow cytometry used to determine the phenotype of cytokine-producing cells. Lesions from TT patients were found to have more CD4+IL-17A+ cells than those from LL patients. Higher concentrations of IL-17A and IL-1β were observed in serum from PB than MB patients. The highest serum IFN-γ concentrations were, however, detected in sera from MB patients that developed leprosy reactions (MB LR+). Together, these results indicate that Th1 cells were associated with both the PB presentation and also with leprosy reactions. In contrast, Th17 cells were associated with an effective inflammatory response that is present in the PB forms but were not predictive of leprosy reactions in MB patients. Background Acute diarrhea is the second leading cause of mortality among children under 5 years of age in developing countries. The pathogen most strongly associated with diarrhea is rotavirus followed by enteric pathogens such as bacteria, helminthes and protozoan. Adequate sanitation and water supply contribute to decrease acute diarrhea incidence of most etiologic agents, although vaccination remains the most important intervention to control rotavirus acute diarrhea. This study aimed to describe environmental conditions and analyze spatially the acute diarrhea and intestinal infection among rotavirus vaccinated infants from Laranjeiras-Sergipe, Brazil. Methods Children were enrolled between 2 and 11 months of age and followed through 12 months. Demographic, socioeconomic and environmental data were obtained from a questionnaire, and immunization data were obtained from children vaccination card. Children stool samples were collected each month in order to run laboratory analyses. The household spatial localization was obtained by using a Global Positioning System (GPS). Spatial analysis was performed using the TerraView computer program and Kernel intensity estimation. Results A total of 1,113 stool samples were collected with 80 being diarrhea associated. Diarrhea incidence rate was 0.5 ± 1.0 episodes/child/year. The overall infection rates by Ascaris lumbricoides, Endolimax nana, Giardia lamblia and rotavirus were 5.1%, 3.0%, 0.9% and 2.6%, respectively. 3.8% of diarrhea-associated stool samples were positive for rotavirus and 11.3% were positive for helminths and protozoans. There were some changes on spatial distribution of intestinal infections and diarrhea episodes along the four trimesters evaluated. Conclusions The studied infants live equally in precarious conditions of sanitation which probably explain the significant rates of parasitic infections appearing in early life. The low acute diarrhea incidence in the studied rotavirus vaccinated population and the low number of symptomatic rotavirus infection may indicate vaccination efficacy to prevent acute diarrhea among young children in a poor environmental sanitary setting.

Este artigo relata as conclusões da reunião de consenso com médicos especialistas sobre diagnóstico de narcolepsia baseada na revisão dos artigos sobre narcolepsia listados no Medline entre 1980 e 2010. A narcolepsia é uma doença crônica de início entre a primeira e segunda décadas de vida do indivíduo. Os sintomas essenciais são cataplexia e sonolência excessiva. A cataplexia é definida como episódios súbitos, recorrentes e reversíveis de fraqueza da musculatura esquelética desencadeados por situações de conteúdo emocional. Os sintomas acessórios são alucinações hipnagógicas, paralisia do sono e sono fragmentado. Critérios de diagnóstico clínico de acordo com a Classificação Internacional dos Transtornos do Sono são de sonolência excessiva e cataplexia. Recomenda-se a realização de polissonografia seguida do teste de latência múltipla do sono em um laboratório de sono para confirmação e diagnóstico de comorbidades. Quando não houver cataplexia, deve haver duas ou mais sonecas com sono REM no teste de latência múltipla do sono. Tipagem HLA-DQB1*0602 positiva com níveis de hipocretina-1 abaixo de 110pg/mL devem estar presentes para o diagnóstico de narcolepsia sem cataplexia e sem sonecas com sono REM. The clinical diagnosis according to the International Classification of Sleep Disorders is the presence of excessive sleepiness and cataplexy. A full in-lab polysomnography followed by a multiple sleep latency test is recommended for the confirmation of the diagnosis and co-morbidities. The presence of two sleep-onset REM period naps in the multiple sleep latency test is diagnostic for cataplexy-free narcolepsy. A positive HLA-DQB1*0602 with lower than 110pg/mL level of hypocretin-1 in the cerebrospinal fluid is required for the final diagnosis of cataplexy- and sleep-onset REM period -free narcolepsy.

Objectives: The tinnitus is a prevalent symptom occurring in about 10% to 20% of the population, but just 5% of them attribute to tinnitus some degree of discomfort. Many hypotheses try to explain why only few patients complain about tinnitus and the majority of them habituate easily to this symptom. The depression’s diagnosis associated with the tinnitus can be one of the factors involved. The objective of this work is to screen depression in patients with chronic tinnitus. Methods: We studied 70 patients with chronic tinnitus of different etiologies; 27 were men and the average age was 55.9 years. We used the Beck Inventory (BID-II) with a cut point of 17 (sensibility of 0.83 and specificity of 0.89 in a previous study with patients with chronic disease)for depression screening. Results: 35.7% of the patients had a positive screening for depression. There were no differences when evaluated sex and age. Conclusion: Previous studies that used others methods had pointed to a higher prevalence of depression in patients with tinnitus than in the general population, estimated in 5 a 15%. Our results agree with them and demonstrate the need of depression investigation in patients with tinnitus to improve their quality of life.

OBJETIVO: Estudo prospectivo em 10 pacientes com infusão de trombolítico (rtPA) dentro do hematoma cerebral profundo supratentorial e drenagem estereotáxica. MÉTODO: Entre 1999 e 2000 10 pacientes com hematomas de profundidade foram selecionados para infusão de rtPA e drenagem do coágulo espontânea. RESULTADO: Todos os casos obtiveram 80% de redução do volume do hematoma medidos por TC no terceiro dia. A pressão intracraniana estava normalizada no terceiro dia. Não houve complicações locais ou sistêmicas relacionadas com o uso deste trombolítico. Os resultados comparados foram mostrados pela Escala de Prognóstico de Glasgow com 6 pacientes em GrauV, 3 pacientes em Grau IV e 1 paciente em Grau III após três meses. CONCLUSÃO: Tratamento precoce e drenagem com técnica neurocirúrgica minimamente invasiva pode fazer estes pacientes terem uma recuperação da consciência mais rápida e assim serem reabilitados mais precocemente evitando complicações secundárias. PURPOSE: The authors present a prospective study on 10 patients with stereotactic infusion of tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) intraparenchimal hemorrhage. METHODS: Between 1999 and 2000, 10 patients with deep seated hematomas in the basal ganglia were selected for stereotactic infusion of rtPA and spontaneous clot drainage. RESULTS: All cases had about 80% reduction of the hematoma volume in the CT scan at the third day. The intracranial pressure was normalized by the third day too. There were no local or systemic complications with the use of this trombolitic. The results were shown by the Glasgow Outcome Scale with six patients in V, three in IV and one in III after 3 months. CONCLUSION: Early treatment and drainage with minimally invasive neurosurgery , can make these patients with deep-seated hematomas recover the consciousness and they can be rehabilitated earlier avoiding secondary complications. Apresenta a inserção da Teoria da Classificação Facetada (TCF) na prototipagem de Banco de Dados (BD) a partir da modelagem de dados, mais especificamente nas etapas de programação: lógica e física. Discute modelagem de dados em BD como técnica que deverá representar a realidade do ambiente que o sistema será inserido. Objetiva-se, de forma maior, a partir de um percurso metodológico formado pela pesquisa aplicada, exploratória e bibliográfica, de abordagem qualitativa, apresentar a aplicação da classificação facetada para organização do conhecimento, visando à recuperação da informação em BD; e de forma específica, investigar a possibilidade de aplicabilidade da classificação facetada com a modelagem de dados em ambientes digitais e expor um panorama de uso do protótipo de BD. Alcança, como resultados da pesquisa, as contribuições da TCF na modelagem lógica e física, especificamente nos métodos de formação de assunto de Ranganathan, dissecação e desnudação, feito na modelagem conceitual (outro trabalho); e na modelagem física, ou seja, na escolha de recursos de software que, em seguida, a confeccionou os módulos do sistema em Cadastro (catalogação), Classificação e Pesquisa (busca); além de contribuições da TCF na facetação ilimitada e filtragem nas ocorrências de buscas, tornando as pesquisas mais precisas. Conclui-se que os subsídios para o desenvolvimento do Sistema Facetado foi a TCF na modelagem de dados em BD, e mesmo com os resultados satisfatórios, a grande questão encontra-se na ausência de modelos e/ou estudos empíricos que apresentem metodologias e testes, nos oferecendo como ponto de partida a imaginação e conhecimento profissional em BD. Finaliza almejando o desejo de outros estudos, outros modelos, os quais poderão nos ajudar a ampliar esta discussão para ambientes mais gerais, abrangentes, como é o caso da Web.

ResumoObjetivoO questionário Hip Function Recovery Score consiste em um instrumento desenvolvido para avaliação da recuperação funcional de pacientes acima de 60 anos submetidos a tratamento cirúrgico devido a fraturas do quadril. O objetivo deste estudo foi fazer a tradução transcultural de forma criteriosa do questionário e adaptá‐lo às características individuais e culturais da população brasileira.MétodoEste método consiste em tradução inicial, retrotradução, elaboração de uma versão de consenso e pré‐teste comentado com posterior elaboração de uma versão final após as alterações necessárias sem modificar a semântica das perguntas do texto original.ResultadosA versão de consenso foi aplicada em 30 pacientes, acima de 60 anos, que foram submetidos a tratamento cirúrgico devido a fraturas do quadril. Foram observadas, entretanto, algumas dificuldades no entendimento de algumas palavras e expressões, as quais foram substituídas por termos de mais fácil entendimento. Após a elaboração da versão final, reaplicou‐se essa versão aos mesmos pacientes e obteve‐se um entendimento total.ConclusãoA tradução transcultural do questionário terá impacto imediato na avaliação funcional dos pacientes com mais de 60 anos operados devido a fraturas do quadril e, posteriormente, outros trabalhos nacionais podem usar esse questionário padronizado e adaptado à nossa cultura para comparação de resultados e enriquecer a produção científica do Brasil.AbstractObjectiveThe Hip Function Recovery Score questionnaire is an instrument that was developed for evaluating the functional recovery of patients over 60 years of age who undergo surgical treatment due to hip fractures. The objective of this study was to make a thorough transcultural translation of this questionnaire, with adaptation to the individual and cultural traits of the Brazilian population.MethodThis translation method consisted of initial translation, back translation, drafting of a consensual version and pretesting with comments invited. Subsequently, a final version was drawn up after making the necessary adjustments, without altering the semantics of the questions in the original text.ResultsThe consensual version was applied to thirty patients over the age of 60 years who had undergone surgical treatment due to hip fractures. However, some difficulties in understanding some words and expressions were observed, and these were then replaced with terms that were more easily understood. After the final version had been drawn up, this was applied to the same patients and full understanding was achieved among some of them, without altering the semantics of the questions of the original text.ConclusionThe transcultural translation of the Hip Function Recovery Score will have an immediate impact on functional evaluations on patients over 60 years of age who underwent surgery due to hip fracture. It will subsequently be possible for other Brazilian scientific studies to use this questionnaire, which has been standardized and adapted to Brazilian culture, in order to make comparisons between results, thereby enriching Brazilian scientific production.
