Background Before 2010, guidelines recommended adenosine 6, 12, and a repeat dose of 12 mg for paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT). After 2010, these doses were reduced to two. This study aims to outline adenosine using trend from 2000 to 2012 in Taiwan emergency departments (EDs). Methods This was an ecological study. PSVT were drawn from one million individuals of the National Health Insurance Database. The χ2 test was used to determine an association between different adenosine doses and other antiarrhythmic drugs (OADs), including verapamil, diltiazem, amiodarone, digoxin, and labetalol. Results There were 3361 PSVT visits from 2000 to 2012; 834 (24.8%) did not receive an antiarrhythmic drug, and 2527 (75.2%) did, either adenosine with/without OADs or OADs alone. The use of an OAD was significantly different between the adenosine 6–18 mg and 19 + mg groups. Conclusions Most PSVT episodes converted with adenosine within 18 mg, and the success conversion rate was 62.2%. It could be up to 65.2% if they received more. Background Childhood neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSDs) may cause visual impairment and brain or spinal cord damage, and the effects may be permanent if left untreated. Since the incidence of NMOSD cases in children is relatively low, the understanding of NMOSD among children is inadequate. Methods This investigation examined the clinical and neuroimaging characteristics of childhood NMOSD. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical information of 11 NMOSD patients admitted to our centre from 2012 to 2021. The disease status was assessed by the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) score. Results The two major symptoms observed in the study cohort were optic neuritis (ON) (9/11) and encephalopathy (7/11). Antibody tests were performed on 8 children, 2 of whom showed serum aquaporin 4 (AQP4) antibody positivity, and another 2 presented with serum myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody positivity. All patients showed white matter hyperintensity on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. Interestingly, a rare radiological sign, enlarged perivascular space (PVS), which is more commonly observed in the elderly or adults, was found in 4 participants with more severe clinical manifestations. Conclusions While NMOSD in children is less commonly diagnosed through clinical evaluations, the symptoms of ON and encephalopathy should raise the possibility of the disease. As the diagnosis of NMOSD in children is relatively difficult, enlarged PVS may represent a promising biomarker for the diagnosis and evaluation of NMOSD.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common disease clinically characterized by chronic recurrent eczematous lesions, dry skin, and pruritus. AD can negatively impact patients’ quality of life. The prevalence of AD in China has been increasing during the past few decades. Based on the most recent advances in the treatment of AD, we updated the 2014 version of the Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Atopic Dermatitis in China regarding the definition, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical classification, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of AD.

Predicting the prognosis of transient ischaemic attack (TIA) is difficult for many frontline clinicians. The purpose of this study was to determine whether subsequent stroke in TIA patients can be predicted via red blood cell distribution width (RDW). A total of 360 consecutive patients with new-onset TIA in our stroke centre, were enrolled over the period studied. The patients were divided into three groups: 103 TIA patients, 206 ischaemic stroke (IS) patients and 51 patients with haemorrhagic stroke (HS) within 7 days after TIA. Complete blood count, biochemical parameters and brain imaging were performed on all patients. The mean RDW values of patients with IS and HS after TIA were significantly higher than patients with TIA (13.35 ± 1.59 vs 12.84 ± 1.19, 13.32 ± 1.08 vs 12.84 ± 1.19, respectively, all p ≤ .001). In a multivariate model, RDW was independently associated with stroke after TIA (IS: odds ratio (OR) = 2.52, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.46–3.35, p = .002; HS: OR = 1.511, 95% CI = 1.101–2.074, p = .011). Compared to ABCD2 scores, the diagnostic power of RDW in the differentiation of patients with IS after TIA was better (area under curve (AUC): 0.731 vs 0.613, p = .015). When an RDW cut-off value of 13.95% was accepted for differentiating patients with IS from TIA, the sensitivity and specificity were 73.7% and 74.3%, respectively. However, the AUC for the ability of the RDW to predict HS was 0.653 (95% CI = 0.589–0.716; p < .001). The early determination of RDW is a promising, rapid, easy and inexpensive biomarker to predict the subsequent stroke in TIA patients, especially for IS. Objective: This study aimed to investigate epidemiological characteristics, clinical manifestations, and long-term outcomes of patients with autoimmune encephalitis (AE) in the east of China.Methods: From January 2015 to December 2019, 226 potential AE patients were recruited from five clinical centers, and a total of 185 patients who met the diagnostic criteria were included in the study. We retrospectively reviewed clinical features, auxiliary examinations, details of treatments, and outcomes of AE, and identified risk factors of poor prognosis. Modified Rankin Scale scores were used to evaluate neurological function, and scores of 3–6 indicated a poor-prognosis.Results: Patients with five main subtypes of AE were enrolled in the study, as follows: anti-NMDAR (79), anti-LGI1 (55), anti-CASPR2 (30), anti-GABABR (16), and anti-AMPAR (5). Among 185 patients, 58.38% (108/185) were male and 41.62% (77/185) were female. The median age at disease onset was 41 years (interquartile range, 17–62). The most common clinical manifestations of AE were seizures (146, 78.92%) and memory deficit (123, 66.49%). A total of 95 (51.35%) patients had abnormal brain magnetic resonance imaging results. Electroencephalographic findings were abnormal in 131 (70.81%) patients, and 168 (90.81%) and 26 (14.05%) patients were treated with first- and second-line immunotherapies, respectively. All surviving patients were followed-up for at least 1 year (range 12–36 months). Good clinical outcomes were achieved in 117 (63.24%), while 68 (36.76%) patients had a poor prognosis. Further, 33 (17.84%) patients relapsed and 10 (5.41%) died within 1 year post-discharge. Older patients tended to have a poorer prognosis, and the occurrence of mental behavioral disorders, movement disorders, disturbance of consciousness, central hypoventilation, and tumors were overrepresented in the poor-prognosis group.Conclusions: AE is a treatable disease, and most patients have a good prognosis. There are differences in the clinical manifestations of patients with different AE subtypes. Some with AE will relapse, and long-term follow-up is of great significance for further research.

OBJECTIVE To improve the clinical understanding of anti-gamma-aminobutyric-acid B receptor encephalitis (anti-GABABR encephalitis) by analyzing 13 cases. METHODS We retrospectively studied demographic and clinical features including clinical symptoms, serum/cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) laboratory findings (including antibody test), brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), electroencephalogram (EEG), treatment plan, and treatment effect for 13 patients with a definitive diagnosis of anti-GABABR encephalitis. RESULTS Seven patients (53.8%, 7/13) were complicated with lung cancer. Epileptic seizures were the most common symptoms at onset in 11 patients (84.6%, 11/13). All patients had seizures in the course of the disease. Abnormalities in craniocerebral MRI examination, including hippocampus, occipital lobe, insular lobe, were found in six of nine tested patients, and EEG abnormalities were found in seven out of nine tested patients. Elevated pro-gastrin releasing peptide (ProGRP) levels were found in 70% of patients with a median value of 490.10 pg/ml; and CSF oligoclonal bands were positive for 4 of 10 tested cases. Objective: To investigate the roles of serum uric acid (UA), bilirubin (BIL), albumin (ALB), and creatinine (CRE) as major intravascular antioxidants, in benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).Methods: The serum levels of UA, BIL, ALB, and CRE were retrospectively analyzed in 70 patients with new-onset idiopathic BPPV and 140 age- and sex-matched healthy controls (HCs).Results: Serum UA, BIL, ALB, and CRE levels were significantly lower in the BPPV group than the HC group. Furthermore, serum levels of BIL and ALB were significantly lower in the BPPV group when compared by sex. Multiple stepwise logistic regression revealed that a reduction in serum ALB was independently related to BPPV (odds ratio = 0.688; 95% confidence interval = 0.607– 0.780). Receiver operating characteristic analyses revealed a cut-off value of 45.15 g/L for ALB with a sensitivity of 74.29% (62.97– 83.07%) and specificity of 73.57% (65.71– 80.18%).Conclusions: Serum levels of UA, BIL, ALB, and CRE were lower in BPPV patients, indicating a lower antioxidant status. Furthermore, a reduction in serum ALB was independently associated with BPPV. These results provide insights into the possible roles of oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of BPPV.

The clinical features, ancillary test results, and details of long-term outcomes were evaluated.Results: Among the 117 patients with anti-LGI1 encephalitis, 69.2% (81/117) were male and 30.8% (36/117) were female. The median age of all patients at the onset of the disease was 57 years (interquartile range [IQR], 52– 67). The median time from symptom onset to diagnosis was 8.7 weeks (IQR, 4.2– 25). The main clinical features identified were seizures, cognitive impairment, and mental and behavioral abnormalities. Of the 117 patients, 109 were treated with immunotherapy. Symptoms including memory, mental ability, and behavior improved in all 109 patients after 3– 5 days of treatment. The median time of follow-up for the treated patients was 33 months (IQR, 17– 42). Of the treated patients, 16.2% (19/117) experienced a relapse, with a median delay of 5 months (IQR, 2.1– 17) between onset and the first relapse. There were no mortalities over the follow-up period.Conclusion: The long-term outcome of patients with anti-LGI1 encephalitis was mostly favorable, although some patients continued to experience cognitive dysfunction. Background: This report aims to provide a detailed description of the clinical manifestation, immunotherapy, and long-term outcomes of 117 Chinese patients with anti-leucine-rich glioma-inactivated 1 (LGI1) encephalitis. Methods: We retrospectively selected 117 patients diagnosed with anti-LGI1 encephalitis from the databases of multiple clinical centers from September 2014 to December 2019. The clinical features, ancillary test results, and details of long-term outcomes were analyzed.Results: Among the 117 anti-LGI1 encephalitis patients, 81 (69%) were male and 36 (31%) were female; the median onset age was 51 years (range: 30-77 years). The median time from symptom onset until diagnosis was 8.7 weeks (range: 2-49 weeks). The main features evaluated in our cohort were seizures, cognitive impairment, and mental and behavioral abnormalities. One hundred and nine patients were treated with immunotherapy, After 3-5 days of treatment, the clinical symptoms were somewhat alleviated in all the patients, and their memory, mental ability, and behavior improved. The median follow-up time was 33 months (range: 6-59 months). A total of 19 (16%) patients experienced a relapse; the median duration from onset to the first relapse was 5 (0.3-27) months. There were no mortalities during the follow-up period.Conclusions: The outcome of patients with anti-LGI1 encephalitis is mostly favorable, although some patients continue to suffer from cognitive dysfunction. Early recognition is of great significance for the treatment of anti-LGI1 encephalitis. Prompt adequate immunotherapy has positive implications for the improvement of clinical symptoms of anti-LGI1 encephalitis. Long-term follow-up is important for the assessment of LGI1 antibody-mediated encephalitis.

Introduction: Reducing the delay in time to primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for acute coronary syndrome patients in the non-urban emergency department (ED) is of critical importance. Conventionally, physicians in a non-PCI-capable, non-urban local emergency department (LED) require approval from a tertiary university hospital emergency department (TUH-ED) prior to transferring eligible STEMI patients for PCI procedures. To reduce the ED delay time, this study developed a direct connection between the LED and the cardiac catheterisation laboratory in the TUH (TUH cath lab). Methods: ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients' medical records for 2014 to 2017, from a non-PCI regional hospital located in one of the rural counties in central Taiwan and a TUH-ED in a metropolitan area in the centre of Taiwan, were retrospectively collected and classified into two categories: the LED referral (group A) and the TUH-non-referral (group B). This study compared the ED delay time between TUH non-referral patients in the TUH and LED referral patients in the LED, to determine whether a direct connection reduces current LED delay time. Laser materials are very important for fabricating laser devices. In this paper, a new type of graphene oxide-like with hydroxyl groups (GOLH) was synthesized for developing pulse laser devices. GOLH was characterized by fourier transform infrared, X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectra and dynamic light scattering. Experimental results showed that GOLH contained mainly one kind of substituent, hydroxyl group. Average size of GOLH was about 1.5 μm. Its optoelectronic properties were studied by a Q-switched pulse laser. Experimental results suggested that GOLH would be employed as a saturable absorber. A Q-switched pulse laser with the GOLH materials exhibited stable signal intensity and narrow pulse duration, 0.8 μs. Therefore, GOLH would be potential pulse laser materials.

Background: Treatment of myoclonic seizures in myoclonic epilepsy with ragged-red fibers (MERRFs) has been empirical and ineffective. Guideline on this disease is not available. Additional trials must be conducted to find more suitable treatments for it. In this study, the antimyoclonic effects of monotherapies, including levetiracetam (LEV), clonazepam (CZP), valproic acid (VPA), and topiramate (TPM) compared to combination therapy group with LEV and CZP on MERRF, were evaluated to find a more advantageous approach on the treatment of myoclonic seizures. Methods: Treatments of myoclonic seizures with VPA, LEV, CZP, and TPM were reported as monotherapies in 17 MERRF patients from Qilu Hospital between 2003 and 2016, who were diagnosed through clinical data and genetic testing. After 1–4 months of follow-up (mean: 82.9 ± 28.1 days), 12 patients that exhibited poor responses to monotherapy were given a combined treatment consisting of LEV and CZP subsequently. The follow-up period was 4–144 months (mean: 66.3 ± 45.3 months), the effective rates of monotherapy group (17 patients) and combination therapy group (12 patients) were analyzed by Chi-square test. Results: The m.8344 A>G mutation was detected in all patients. There were four patients with partial response (4/17, two in the CZP group and two in the LEV group), ten patients with stable disease (10/17, six in the CZP group, three in the LEV group, and one in the TPM group), and three patients with progressive disease (3/18, two in the VPA group and one in the TPM group). Twelve of the patients with LEV combined with CZP showed a positive effect and good tolerance (12/12), eight of them demonstrated improved cognition and coordination. There was a significant difference between the monotherapy group and combination therapy group in the efficacy of antimyoclonic seizures (χ2 = 13.7, P < 0.001). Conclusions: LEV in combination with CZP is an efficient and safe treatment for myoclonic seizures in patients with this disease exhibiting the m.8344A>G mutation. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) identified chromosome 12p13 rs12425791 and rs11833579 as susceptibility loci of ischemic stroke (IS) in a European population. However, conflicting results were obtained in subsequent replication analysis. miR-200c, located on chromosome 12p13, was found to have a neuroprotective effect on ischemia. Our aim of this study was to investigate the association of the rs12425791, rs11833579 and rs12904 in the binding site of miR-200c with the risk of IS. The rs12425791, rs11833579, and rs12904 were genotyped using a TaqMan allelic discrimination assay. The results were verified by Sanger sequencing. We found that the rs12904 AG/GG genotypes and G allele were associated with a decreased risk of IS (AG/GG vs. AA: adjusted OR = 0.64; 95% CI, 0.44–0.95; G vs. A: adjusted OR = 0.65; 95% CI, 0.46–0.93). The combined genotypes of the rs11833579AG/AA and rs12904AG/GG were also associated with a reduced risk of IS (OR = 0.65; 95% CI, 0.46–0.93). These findings suggest that the rs12904 may have a jointly protective effect against the risk of IS.

Rationale Hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (SOS) is a rare and potentially fatal complications after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Most severe SOS result in multi-organ dysfunction and are associated with a high mortality rate (>80%). Patient concerns A 31-year-old man was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia blast crisis. He presented with severe thrombocytopenia on day 42 post-HSCT (on days +42), gradually developed with painful hepatomegaly, ascites, and weight gain. Diagnoses The abdominal computerized tomography showed hepatomegaly, hepatic congestion, periportal edema, narrow hepatic vein, and ascites suggestive of SOS/hepatic vein occlusion. According to the EBMT revised diagnostic criteria, the patient was diagnosed as late-onset severe SOS. Interventions Comprehensive treatment including low molecular weight heparin was initiated. Outcomes The patient had good response with resolution of his hepatomegaly, increase of platelet, weight and transaminase loss after 4 weeks treatment. Lessons In SOS patients with nonspecific clinical and biochemical findings, computerized tomography scans can be useful in differentiating SOS from other complications after HSCT. low molecular weight heparin is effective for the treatment of SOS.

Background: Phacoemulsification with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation has become a well-established treatment for senile cataract. The ideal IOL is characterized by good biocompatibility and resolution, with no spherical aberration. The Acri.LISA 366D is a refractive/diffractive multifocal IOL that differs from traditional multifocal IOLs. Its unique optical design can improve the patient's vision and reduce incident ray scattering, glare and halo. The goal of this study is to perform a comparative analysis between the Acri.LISA 366D and the Tecnis Z9001 diffractive multifocal IOL, to determine if there are any differences in biocompatibility and improvement in visual acuity. Methods/Design: A prospective, single-center, randomized, double-blind, parallel-controlled study will be conducted at the Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University in China. Forty cataract patients aged 50-80 years will be randomly assigned to either the Acri.LISA 366D or Tecnis Z9001 IOL (n = 20 per group). The primary outcome of the trial is to investigate the biocompatibility of the IOL after implantation. The secondary outcome is the best corrected visual acuity. Outcome measures will be evaluated at 1, 3, 6 months, 1, 2 years after IOL implantation. Discussion: It is anticipated that the data collected from this trial will provide evidence for IOL selection in senile cataract patients. Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT02966496; registered on 9 November 2016. Ethics: This trial has been approved by the Ethics Committee, Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University, China (approval number: QHY1107K) and will be performed in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki, formulated by the World Medical Association. The treatment of choice for leiomyoma, the most common benign esophageal tumor, is thoracoscopic enucleation. One of the most difficult aspects of thoracoscopic enucleation is the precise localization of small tumors (≤1.5 cm) and tumors without external protrusion. No simple, feasible solutions to this problem are available. We developed a novel methylene blue staining technique to localize small esophageal leiomyomas and evaluated the feasibility of our technique. Between January 2013 and July 2014, eight patients with small esophageal leiomyomas (≤1.5 cm) underwent thoracoscopic enucleation in Tongji Hospital. Preoperative endoscopic ultrasonography was performed in all patients. The leiomyomas were located in the middle (n = 5) and lower (n = 3) thirds of the esophagus. We preoperatively injected 0.5-1.0 mL methylene blue in the submucosa adjacent to the tumors under standard gastroscope guidance. The entire staining process took about 10 minutes. Staining was successful in all patients. The unstained tumor was exposed after the blue-stained mediastinal pleura, and overlying muscle were incised longitudinally. All procedures were successfully completed without conversion to open surgery. No abnormalities were detected in the esophageal mucosa. The median operating time was 60 minutes (range, 40-90 minutes). Postoperative histopathology confirmed leiomyoma in all patients. The median postoperative hospital stay was 6 days (range, 5-7 days). No major complications, such as esophageal leakage or esophageal diverticulum, occurred. Endoscopic methylene blue staining is safe and feasible for localizing small esophageal leiomyomas during thoracoscopic enucleation. This method will enable precise and easy enucleation.

Aims Most diabetes mellitus (DM) patients have several comorbidities; the correlation of these comorbidities with dementia in DM requires clarification. Methods Using claims data from Taiwan National Health Insurance, we identified 33,709 DM adults before the year 2000 and randomly selected 67,066 non-DM patients matched by sex and age. Subjects were followed until diagnosis with dementia, excluded due to death/withdrawal from the insurance program, or followed until 2011. We compared the incidence and hazard ratio (HR) for dementia in both cohorts. Results Comorbidities were more prevalent in DM patients, including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, stroke, coronary artery and/or kidney disease. The HR was higher for the DM cohort with comorbidities than those without: 1.88 vs. 1.46 with hypertension; 1.56 vs. 1.39 with hyperlipidemia; 1.73 vs. 1.37 with coronary artery disease; 2.36 vs. 2.29 with stroke and 1.88 vs. 1.50 with kidney disease. The HR for dementia in diabetics rose from 1.41 in those without comorbidities to 2.49 in those with ≥ 4 comorbidities. In the DM cohort, HR was 1.22 for non-insulin-users and 1.41 for insulin-users, and 1.49 for type 1 DM and 1.23 for type 2 DM. Conclusion Diabetic patients have an elevated risk of dementia, and comorbidity increases this risk.

In the coal seam of our country, the magmatic alteration is obvious, and the large amount of pyrite makes coal desulfurization more difficult. This article elucidates the main methods and their merits and demerits of pyrite beneficiation, and makes some suggestions for pyrite processing from Magma-altered Coal according to typomorphic characteristics of pyrite.

Aim: To investigate whether the skin barrier function is impaired with regard to the pH value, water content, transepidermal water loss (TEWL), and the integrity of the stratum corneum, and whether the expression of caspase-14 is altered in moderate to severe chronic hand eczema (CHE). Methods: Thirty patients with moderate to severe CHE treated at our institute and 30 healthy volunteers were included in this study. The pH value, water content, TEWL, and the integrity of the stratum corneum were measured in all subjects. Results: Significantly increased pH value, decreased water content, elevated TEWL, and impaired integrity of the stratum corneum were observed in the lesional skin of CHE patients compared with the nonlesional skin of CHE patients and the normal skin of healthy volunteers. The expression of caspase-14 decreased in the lesional and nonlesional skin of CHE patients compared with the normal skin of healthy volunteers, especially prominent in the nonlesional skin. The mean optical density (OD) value of immunohistochemical staining for caspase-14 was significantly lower in the nonlesional skin than in the lesional skin and normal skin (p < 0.01 for both). Although the mean OD value was lower in the lesional skin than in the normal skin, the difference was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Skin barrier dysfunction indeed occurs in CHE patients, which may be related to mechanisms associated with a downregulated expression of caspase-14.

Two transmissibility-based operational modal analysis (TOMA) schemes, i.e., the classic TOMA method utilizing measurements under multiple loading conditions, and the power spectral density transmissibility (PSDT) method resorting to multiple reference outputs under one loading condition, are further investigated in this study. For the classic TOMA approach, the issue of requiring multiple loading conditions is properly addressed in ambient vibration testing. Based on the unique properties of transmissibility, the frequencies can be extracted by varying either loading conditions or reference outputs, while the mode shapes can be estimated by a singular value decomposition of the transmissibility matrix. The applicability of TOMA approaches is evaluated through three typical large-scale cable-stayed bridges, including a railway bridge, a highway bridge, and a pedestrian bridge. A comparative study of these large cable-stayed bridges is carried out to gain more insights into the dynamic properties of large-scale cable-stayed bridges.

Abstraction and simplification, single design and community combination, simulation of irregular things, dimension transuding, four design rules as important laws in industrial design were applied to explore reasonable morphology and structure.It put forward to appraise the design schemes from six aspects: attractive appearances, assembly processing, saving in material, proper ergonomic, and poly-functionality, fully collapsible for easy storage. According to stress test, experimental results show that the schemes are feasible and valid.

Taking new lifestyle as a breakthrough perspective for innovative design, ways to merge the Low carbon concept into industrial design method are studied in terms of the design investigation, design orientation, design concepts, and the modeling design and so on. A clear definition of Lifestyle was proposed, then, the method of measuring Lifestyle model was constructed by VIO scale. As a very typical representative, the post-80's the lifestyle was analyzed who proved the main small-household electrical appliances consumer groups. Mi-sa washing machine design as an example verified the effectiveness, practicality and innovativeness of the method. The result show that the low-carbon industrial design in the true sense should depend on the modern lifestyle and consumer habits.

Background Upon review of the literature, much work has been done to improve the safety and efficacy of immunotherapy. Objective This study's aim was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of using MORA bioresonance electronic homeopathic copies of remedies in the treatment of allergic rhinitis. Methods Thirty-six newly diagnosed allergic rhinitis patients (aged 6–63 years) participated in this study. Corticosteroid washout period including intranasal and inhaled form was set for one month. They were randomly assigned to a study group (n = 23) and an allergic control group (n = 13). During the first 4 weeks, only the study group was given electronic homeopathic copies therapy, after which both groups were treated with electronic homeopathic copies during the subsequent 4 weeks. Mite-specific IgE, -IgG4, and -IgG4/IgE ratios were evaluated and total nasal symptom scores and nose running scores were evaluated. Results All 36 patients completed the study program. Study group patients had lower nose running scores after 4 weeks of treatment and nose running scores and Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (Der p)-specific IgG4 levels between the 2 groups were significantly different after 8 weeks of electronic homeopathic copies therapy. Also, total nasal symptom scores, nose running scores, and Der p-specific IgE, -specific IgG4, and the IgG4/IgE ratio were significantly different between 4 and 8 weeks of treatment. Patients tolerated the electronic homeopathic copies treatment well and no adverse reactions were observed. Conclusion Our results suggest that MORA homeopathic remedies copies is an effective therapy for allergic rhinitis, although larger group, longer-term studies should be performed.

Besides, it not only defines, calculates and analyzes the statistic characteristics such as node strength and clustering coefficient by the complex weighted theory, but reveals the status of enterprise and correlations in the manufacturing environment of oriented service. This study can not only provide basis for the construction and management of service-oriented manufacturing network, but for search and grouping of collaborative partners.

Background Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is a hematological stem cell disorder. Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are the standard treatments for CML, but a number of patients fail to respond effectively due to gene mutations. Celecoxib, a cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor, has been shown to have anti-tumor effect on solid tumor whereas the anti-CML effect and its underlying mechanism have not been completely elucidated. Methods The cytotoxic effects of celecoxib and/or imatinib were evaluated by MTT assay. Cell cycle distribution was examined by propidium iodide (PI) assay. Apoptosis or necrosis was analyzed by Annexin-V/PI, Hoechst 33342 staining and Western blot assays. Autophagy suppression effect of celecoxib was examined by Western blot and LysoTracker probe labelling. Lysosensor probe labelling was used to detect the effect of celecoxib on the lysosomal function. Results In this study, we found that celecoxib had therapy efficacy in KBM5 and imatinib-resistant KBM5-T315I CML cell lines. Celecoxib caused significant cytotoxic effect in both cell lines, especially in KBM5-T315I cells exposed to celecoxib for 72 h. Moreover, celecoxib induced necrosis and apoptosis while inhibited autophagy in CML cell lines and patient samples. Furthermore, this study demonstrated that celecoxib prevented the autophagic flux by inhibiting lysosome function. Celecoxib was tested in combination with imatinib, demonstrating that celecoxib could strengthen the cytotoxicity of imatinib in imatinib-resistant CML cells. Conclusions These findings showed that celecoxib had therapy efficacy on CML cells. And it is first time to demonstrate that celecoxib is an autophagy suppresser and a combination of celecoxib and imatinib might be a promising new therapeutic strategy for imatinib-resistant CML cells. 20 patients with systemic contact dermatitis due to nickel are described. Of these patients, 15 were female and 5 were male. Their mean age was 24.8 years (16-51 years). All had experienced contact dermatitis in the umbilical area due to continual contact with metal belt-buckles or buttons. Then, with long- or short-term aggravation of such periumbilical dermatitis, commonly in summer, lesions spread to other sites such as the side of the neck, the flexures of the extremities, etc. All patients showed a positive patch test to nickel sulphate (2.5% in petrolatum) and the dimethylglyoxime test demonstrated the presence of free nickel on metal buttons or belt-buckles. Punch biopsies performed in 7 patients showed subacute dermatitis. After avoidance of continual exposure to objects containing nickel and foods rich in nickel, as well as treatment with oral antihistamines and topical corticosteroids, all patients improved or cleared. It has been reported that nickel can cause systemic contact dermatitis by some internal systemic route, such as oral intake, transfusion, inhalation, implantation of metal medical devices, etc. In our patients, we found that continual local skin contact could also elicit systemic contact dermatitis.

Background and objectives: The lack of visual field in the visual center of older adults with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) has a serious impact on daily activities. AMD is subdivided into atrophic and exudative AMD according to pathology. Patients with advanced stage exudative AMD develop aged-related degeneration in the macular area. Ranibizumab combined with photodynamic therapy is mainly used for the treatment of early exudative AMD; however, treatment outcomes in advanced stage exudative AMD are not well documented. Therefore, we attempt to analyze vision recovery, retinal thickness, and leakage of choroidal neovascular lesions in patients with advanced stage exudative AMD after treatment with ranibizumab plus photodynamic therapy. We also further explore the therapeutic efficacy of the combined therapy. Design: A prospective self-controlled trial. Methods: The trial will be undertaken in the Department of Ophthalmology, Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University, China. The study population will comprise 113 patients with advanced exudative AMD who are eligible for inclusion. Photodynamic therapy combined with intravitreal injection of ranibizumab will be given as the interventional therapy. Outcome measures and preliminary results: The primary outcome measure of the trial is visual improvement in patients 12 months after treatment. Secondary outcome measures include logarithmic visual acuity chart scores, retinal thickness, and leakage of choroidal neovascular lesions assessed monthly at 1-12 months after treatment. Adverse events are also recorded during follow-up. Pre-test results showed that at 12 months after treatment, visual acuity in 43 affected eyes was increased by ≥ 2 lines, and the average retinal thickness decreased by 111.21 μm compared with before treatment. Leakage of choroidal neovascular lesions in most affected eyes stopped or the lesions were contracted. Discussion: Findings from the trial are expected to provide reliable data on the efficacy of ranibizumab combined with photodynamic therapy in the treatment of advanced exudative AMD. This will provide a basis for the rational use of this combined therapy in the treatment of advanced exudative AMD. Ethics and dissemination: The study was designed in December 2017, and approved by the Ethics Committee of the Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University (approval No. QHY001Y) in January 2018. The trial was registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry in March 28, 2018. Participant recruitment was initialized in March 2018, and data analysis will be completed in December 2020. The results of this study will be disseminated by publications in peer-reviewed journals. Trial registration: This trial was registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry with registration No. ChiCTR1800015410 (protocol version 1.0).

Background. Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) women undergoing in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) treatment always attain a low cumulative pregnancy rate disaccording with the satisfactory number of oocytes.Objective. We aim to evaluate the status of coagulation and fibrinolytic system in PCOS patients undergoing controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) process.Method. Of the 97 women, 30 patients with PCOS composed the study group; 67 women of child-bearing age with normal endocrine function composed the control group. All participants underwent GnRH agonist standard long protocol, and plasma HCY, FVIII, FX, and D-dimer levels as well as hormone parameters were measured at day of full downregulation, hCG priming, and embryos transfer.Results. On day of full downregulation, FX levels were significantly higher in PCOS group (P<0.01). On hCG priming day, FX and estrogen levels in PCOS group were higher than in the control group and FVIII levels were significantly lower on day of embryos transfer whereas FX and E2 levels were significantly higher in PCOS group.Conclusion. Hypercoagulable state during peri-implantation phase would probably lead to poor microcirculation of endometrium and be one of the most important disadvantages of successful implantation and subsequent clinical pregnancy.

In this paper, based on the principle of agent technology, the architecture of Internet Intelligent Tutoring System (IITS) based on MAS (Multi-Agent System) and Data-mining technology is designed, and a model of data-mining agent which can provide individual tutoring service is constructed, the applications of data-mining technology on IITS is discussed. These will guide to develop the IITS with high flexibility and individual features.

Water source heat pump is the device which can transform low level heat energy to high level heat energy. It suits to using in thermal power plants, and can effectively make use of the waste heat of circulating water and flue gas, consequently the loss of heat could be reduced and the efficiency of coal could be increased, it has the prominent benefit of energy-saving and environmental protection and other integrative benefit. The work principle, function, merit and several applied schemes are introduced.

The effectiveness of safety belt usage in reducing mortality and morbidity among traffic crash victims has been well established. Population safety belt usage rates have been increasing from 11% in 1980 to 68% in 1995, as measured by observational surveys sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Safety incentive grants from NHTSA to the States with higher than average usage rates are expected to total $500 million during 1999-2003. In this paper, longitudinal annual motor vehicle-related fatality levels are analyzed by state to estimate the effect of the population safety belt usage rate on traffic fatality rates in the presence of known confounders such as alcohol use and youthful drivers. Consideration of alternative models applied to 14 years of data shows that the population safety belt usage rate (at least, at the current rates) is associated with little or no effect on reducing fatality rates. On the other hand, higher safety belt usage rates arising from states with primary enforcement laws tend to suggest reductions in fatality rates. Such results call into question the NHTSA policy of basing incentive programs on overall safety belt usage rates.
