Wireless Sensor Networks are often to perform autonomous sensing and controlling the real world objects through the sensor nodes across the globe. Since these sensor nodes are operated by the energy of the battery that has been performed a vital role in deploying a sensor network. Hence, the battery power needs to be minimized to prolong network lifetime for healthcare applications. The monitored data transmission is very important to process in building wireless sensor networks. In order to provide efficient data transmission wireless technology standards are followed as IEEE 802.15.4 standards that provide desirable communication between end to end with optimal routes using the proposed Energy Optimization Algorithm. The proposed algorithm has been improved the data packet transmission efficiency up to 25% and also helps to prolong the life time of Wireless Sensor Networks in order to achieve the efficient data transmission for health care monitoring.

Performance of green treatment systems such as adsorption to treat textile effluents often suffers lack of longevity and efficiency due to the presence of complex compounds of varying reactivity. There is scope for improving the operational efficiency of such processes using real-time monitoring systems. The present study aimed to evaluate the performance of an activated biosorbent prepared from the leaves of Acalypha indica for treating textile industry effluent by simulating process control with real-time monitoring. Batch experiments were performed with synthetic and real-time dye effluents to identify the optimum conditions (pH = 3.0, dosage = 1.0 g/L; time = 1 h) for the highest adsorption capacity (6 mg g−1 and 2 mg g−1). The evaluation of physical parameters suggested best fit for Freundlich isotherm model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The LabVIEW-based simulation control system enabled close monitoring of pH and temperature during the process. Based on the inputs, an alteration of initial pH has resulted in substantial reduction in chemical oxygen demand (COD) (73.91%), turbidity (52.43%) and total dissolved solids (TDS) (19.43%). The average incremental increase was highest for COD (45.80 ± 0.06%) compared to TDS (10.13 ± 0.06%) and turbidity (−1.74 ± 0.03%) for varying dosage (3 g to 11 g). The proposed framework for incorporating a process-control-based monitoring system can help to achieve better performance. Rapid worldwide spread of Corona virus Disease 2019 (COVID 19) has resulted in a global pandemic. In present scenario due to covid-19, the mask has been an important part of our live for our safety as well as for the others safety so there is a need for efficient face mask detection applications in crowded areas like shopping malls, Public transportation etc. To ensure safety of the people in the surroundings. Face Mask Detection using NI LabVIEW. In this project a real-time system is developed to detect whether the person is wearing a mask or not by acquiring a real-time image of him through a Camera. The main challenges in detecting the mask are there are masks with various colors and patterns and secondly the background, light intensity are also the factors that affect the result. So, all these factors should be taken into consideration while developing the system in real-time. This system used for this application consists of vision development module. Vision development module helps to develop applications for machine vision and image processing applications we can use it with LabVIEW for real- time systems. A camera with good pixel quality is used for image acquisition. The captured image is of RGB format, it is difficult to analyze the image in this format, so it undergoes color plane extraction in this only a single plane of the image is considered which separates the mask from surroundings and results in a grey scale image for further processing. The image later is compared to a custom-made template dataset using pattern matching algorithm from vision assistant which helps to detect the mask region. overlaying techniques are used to highlight the mask region which shows that the person is wearing the mask.

We are increasingly faced with automated solutions that create a dynamic and constantly evolving scientific and technical environment, with new challenges in finding more accurate and efficient solutions for identification. This article introduces a machine learning application that allows you to automatically recognize and identify learners in a distance learning experiment without being explicitly programmed. Experimental methods and components have been transferred to a distance learning laboratory environment. A conceptual model of an electronics laboratory has been developed for remote experiments using identification methods. This article focuses on machine learning using the LabVIEW package, which can access data and use it for self-study. The article presents the application of machine learning software LabVIEW National Instruments and NI ELVIS hardware simulators for electronic laboratory remote experiments and perspectives in the educational process.

Розроблений кератометр на який отримано патент UA 120893 та акт впровадження. Для реалізації прилада було залучено різні допоміжні засоби, такі як: середовища SolidWorks, LabView, 3Ds max та 3D принтер Anet A8. Перед вибором форми кілець для проекції, було проаналізовано три типи їх розміщення, а саме, площинне, від’ємне конусне та від’ємне параболоїдне розміщення. Програма 3Ds max застосована для просліддковування ходу променів світла після проходження концентричних кілець. В приладі міститься плата Arduino Micro на базі процесора ATmega32u4. Дана плата дає можливість приводити прилад в поступальний рух за допомогою джойстика. Рух по горизонталі передбачений для можливості фокусування камери, що міститься в приладі та для більш точного проведення діагностичної процедури. Кератометр дає змогу провести вимірювання передньої поверхні рогівки ока людини в різних меридіанах. Значення, які отримуються при цьому, оцінються в міліметрах та виводяться в спеціальне вікно програми. Інформацію зручно зберігати на будь якому інформаційному накопичувачу. Маючи дані про нормальну рогівку за допомогою розробленої програми в середовищі LabVIEW та маркерів, що проставляються на отриманому зображенні, можливо діагностувати стан передньої поверхні ока, а саме рогівки. Згідно дослідження, що було проведене на чотирьох добровольцях, отримано інформацію, що три з них мають певне відхилення від норми, а саме, астигматизм та кератоконус. Даний висновок був зроблений на основі експертного рішення та інформації отриманої від інших авторів в цій області. Прилад може бути використаним для проведення до та після операційної діагностики, а також, як засіб отримання даних, необхідних для підбору інтраокулярної лінзи. Слідуючими удосконаленнями, які плануються, має бути додання можливості діагностики інших структур ока людини. Такими структурами є задня стінка рогівки ока, райдужна оболонка та кришталик із задньою та передньою стінками капсули. This article is devoted to the design and subsequent technical implementation of the device, which is suitable for use in the field of ophthalmology. The developed keratometer for which the patent UA 120893 and the act of implementation were received. To implement the device, various auxiliary tools were involved, such as: SolidWorks environments, LabView, 3Ds max and Anet A8 3D printer. Before choosing the shape of the rings for the projection, three types of their placement were analyzed, namely, planar, negative cone and negative paraboloid placement. The 3Ds max program is used to analyze the path of light rays after passing through the concentric rings. The device contains an Arduino Micro board based on an ATmega32u4 processor. This board allows you to move the device in translational motion using a joystick. The horizontal movement is provided for the possibility of focusing the camera, which is contained in the device and for a more accurate diagnostic procedure. The keratometer allows you to measure the anterior surface of the human cornea in different meridians. The values obtained in this case are measured in millimeters and displayed in a special window of the program. It is convenient to store information on any information storage device. Having data on the normal cornea using the developed program in the LabVIEW environment and markers that are affixed to the resulting image, it is possible to diagnose the condition of the anterior surface of the eye, namely the cornea. According to a study that was conducted on four volunteers, information was obtained that three of them have a certain deviation from the norm, namely, astigmatism and keratoconus. This conclusion was made on the basis of expert judgment and information received from other authors in this area. The device can be used for carrying out before and after surgical diagnostics, as well as a means of obtaining the data necessary for the selection of an intraocular lens. The next improvements that are planned should be to make it possible to diagnose other structures of the human eye. These structures are the posterior wall of the cornea of the eye, the iris and the lens with the posterior and anterior walls of the capsule. Имея данные о нормальной роговицу с помощью разработанной программы в среде LabVIEW и маркеров, что проставляются на полученном изображении, возможно диагностировать состояние передней поверхности глаза, а именно роговицы. Согласно исследованию, которое было проведено на четырех добровольцах, получена информация, что три из них имеют определенное отклонение от нормы, а именно, астигматизм и кератоконус. Данный вывод был сделан на основе экспертного решения и информации, полученной от других авторов в этой области. Прибор может быть использован для проведения до и после операционной диагностики, а также как средство получения данных, необходимых для подбора интраокулярной линзы. Следующими усовершенствованиями, которые планируются, должно быть придания возможности диагностики других структур глаза человека. Такими структурами есть задняя стенка роговицы глаза, радужная оболочка и хрусталик с задней и передней стенками капсулы.

Bioethanol is a renewable energy that can replace gasoline, which will run out in the future. This study investigates the influence of magnetization of bioethanol fuel on the fuel combustion temperature in the combustion chamber of a gasoline motor. The fuel used is bioethanol with a composition of E0 (pure gasoline), E10 (10 % bioethanol+90 % gasoline), E20 (20 % bioethanol+80 % gasoline), E30 (30 % bioethanol+70 % gasoline), E40 (40 % bioethanol+60 % gasoline). The fuel passed through the magnet with a magnetic variation of 647.15 Gauss, 847.25 Gauss, 1419.57 Gauss. The temperature sensor used is a K-type thermocouple. The temperature sensor was inserted in the combustion chamber to measure the combustion chamber temperature. The thermocouple data were recorded in Microsoft Excel on a computer using the LabVIEW program via NI-USB 9213 interface. The temperature data recorded is 400 data/second. The results obtained without exposure to the magnetic field, the lowest peak temperature of 577.1998 °C at E40 and the highest peak temperature of 582.1786 °C at E0. The higher the bioethanol content, the lower the temperature of fuel combustion to the low bioethanol viscosity. The increasing magnetic field strength will increase the combustion temperature; hence the fuel burned quickly and the combustion process is more perfect. The result obtained with the magnetic field exposure, the lowest peak temperature of 577.8347 °C is at E40. The highest peak temperature of 587.36 °C is at E0. The use of a magnetic field in the bioethanol fuel mixture can increase the combustion temperature so that the fuel molecules move freely and the fuel is more easily mixed with oxygen. Density is one of the auxiliary indicators for judging the internal quality of tomatoes. However, in the density measurement process, it is often difficult to measure the volume of the tomatoes accurately. To solve this problem, first, this study proposed a novel tomato volume measurement method based on machine vision. The proposed method uses machine vision to measure the geometric feature parameters of tomatoes, and inputs them into the LabVIEW software to convert the calculation of irregular tomato volume into a BP neural network (BPNN) model that calculates the plane pixel area and pixel volume, thereby realizing the modeling, analysis, design and simulation of tomato volume; then, an experimental platform was constructed to compare the results of the proposed method with the results predicted by the 3D wireframe model. When the number of photos taken was n = 5, the average error of the tomato volume prediction results of the 3D wireframe model was 8.22%, and the highest accuracy was 92.93%; while the average error of the tomato volume prediction results of the BPNN was 4.60%, and the highest accuracy was 95.60%. Increasing the number of orthographic projections can improve the accuracy of the model, but when the number of photos was more than 7, the accuracy improvement was not significant. Also, increasing the number of nodes in the hidden layer can improve the accuracy of the model, however, considering that increasing the number of nodes will increase the host operating cost, it is suggested to choose a node number of 12 for the tomato volume measurement. In the end, the final experimental results showed that the proposed method achieved better measurement results. However, the volume measured by the two models is larger than the real volume of tomatoes. For this reason, we added a correction coefficient to the BPNN model, and its highest accuracy has increased by 1.3%.

Consumer electronic manufacturing (CEM) companies maintain a range of electronic products that are designed and tested according to the type and end-user requirements. These electronic products go through a validation and verification test for proof of design and a manufacturing test for checking reliability, quality, and manufacturing defects. Testing is carried out using test sites, designed based on the electronic product type. Currently, there is no standard approach for setting up a test site for electronic products. In this research, two processes are presented, for setting up new test sites and optimization of existing test sites for consumer and other electronic products. The proposed processes include a voice of customer (VoC) interface, that is based on a unique dataset and through machine-learning technique automatically translate customer information into customer requirements, and a figure of merit (FoM) presented as an outcome of this research using several key test-related parameters. These proposed processes are an important step towards defining a standard approach for setting test sites for consumer and other electronic products. The processes are implemented using a software application developed in LabVIEW, which is linked to a database containing test data for around 400 products collected as part of this research and form a knowledge base for the proposed processes. Finally, the processes are validated by setting up a new experimental test site for an RF receiver and optimization of an existing test site of an antenna system.

Underwater acoustic communication plays an important role in underwater wireless sensor network. Different from terrestrial radio channel, modeling of underwater acoustic channel is very challenging due to its unique and dynamic characteristics. In order to verify the proposed acoustic communication algorithms, a general emulation platform which can reduce the verification cost has a wide application prospect. In this paper, we design a general hardware in the loop underwater communication emulation system based on the LabVIEW and MATLAB software and real acoustic transducer. In the emulation system, LabVIEW calls MATLAB script to achieve algorithm implementation, and then uses DAQmx to send and receive data through the acquisition card. The proposed system supports a variety of modulation and demodulation methods, such as multiple frequency-shift-keying(MFSK), multi-carrier frequency-shift-keying(MCFSK), orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM), etc. In addition, in order to detect frame efficiently, we propose a light-weight frame synchronous algorithm. To verify the function of the systems, lake test and sea test are conducted for different algorithms.

The present study was focused on the design and implementation of an experimental recognition system for dirty chicken eggshell by using an image analysis technique. Image analysis based observation and evaluation techniques can be used efficiently and effectively for agricultural product quality control. Dirt stains on eggs are the result of mainly by feces (black to light brown stains), uric acid (white stains), yolk, and blood. The experimental system was used to obtain dark level images of dirty stains of chicken eggs owing to feces. For this aim, the dirty chicken eggs which have dirty parts were put under a webcam, and dirtiness degree was evaluated by using developed image analysis software at the LabVIEW platform. For the experiment, 100 clean and 100 dirty eggs were used to accurate the determination of dark stains. The results of the research showed that the designed experimental system pointed an accuracy of 99.8% at painted grade eggs. On the other hand, the accuracy of the differentiation of the dirt stains by feces was 98.5%. The developed system can be upgraded for developing egg sorting machines by presence-absence of dirty stains in eggshell.

This development research aims to make a tool and test its ability to absorb the heat in light radiation by colored surfaces (black, dark green, blue, white). The benefit of this research is to present a simple laboratory that can be used in physics education class as a test tool for heat absorption. The research method that applied is Microcomputer Based Laboratory (MBL). The software that used is LabVIEW which connected to Arduino Uno hardware and heat source. The appropriate set of tools and materials is then tested for eligibility. The feasibility test of the device is reviewed from the aspect of content, linguistic, presentation and graphic by an expert validator as well as the compatibility of the findings with the theory. The results found that the darker the color of the object, the greater the ability of heat absorption and vice versa. Changes in power at a light source can affect changes in maximum temperature in the color absorption of heat. The greater the power provided by the light source, the greater the increase in maximum temperature. This development research concludes that the tools are feasible to use and appropriate based on existing theories.

The spectrum frequency in the wireless communication industry is getting great attention due to the internet of things (IoT) technology's growth. However, the radio spectrum's frequency band use is limited because the primary user for specific services can cause spectrum interference as multiple users use the same spectrum frequency. Meanwhile, at each spectrum frequency, the number of users and utilization time are distinct. These will create vacancies for spectrum frequency assigned to the primary user. A new alternative in using the cognitive radio (CR) spectrum is accessible to these vacancies. This paper analyzed the frequency spectrum in the industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band and identified spectrum holes for transmission by the secondary users. This work employed a realistic approach by measuring the spectrum using Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) devices. Thus, the spectrum holes in the frequency spectrum had distinguished by using an energy detection technique. In the energy detection technique, the threshold energy level is set and then compared with the energy detector output to identify the primary user's existence (PU). The result indicates that 0.61% of spectrum holes have been detected in the 2.43-2.44 GHz range. This range is sufficient for home appliances, radio frequency peripherals (RF), and bluetooth devices.

The nature of wireless propagation may reduce the QoS of the applications, such that some packages can be delayed or lost. For this reason, the design of wireless control applications must be faced in a holistic way to avoid degrading the performance of the control algorithms. This paper is aimed at improving the reliability of wireless control applications in the event of communication degradation or temporary loss at the wireless links. Two controller levels are used: sophisticated algorithms providing better performance are executed in a central node, whereas local independent controllers, implemented as back-up controllers, are executed next to the process in case of QoS degradation. This work presents a reliable strategy for switching between central and local controllers avoiding that plants may become uncontrolled. For validation purposes, the presented approach was used to control a planar robot. A Fuzzy Logic control algorithm was implemented as a main controller at a high performance computing platform. A back-up controller was implemented on an edge device. This approach avoids the robot becoming uncontrolled in case of communication failure. Although a planar robot was chosen in this work, the presented approach may be extended to other processes. XBee 900 MHz communication technology was selected for control tasks, leaving the 2.4 GHz band for integration with cloud services. Several experiments are presented to analyze the behavior of the control application under different circumstances. The results proved that our approach allows the use of wireless communications, even in critical control applications. У роботі наведено програмне забезпечення для аналізу біопотенціалів, яке дає можливість вимірювати, фільтрувати, відображати та аналізувати біоелектричні сигнали. Проведено огляд існуючих аналогів. Для створення програмного забезпечення було використано інтегроване середовище LabVIEW, призначене для створення інтерактивних програм збору, обробки даних і управління периферійними пристроями. Також наведено деякі результати досліджень, які виконані за допомогою розробленої програми для аналізу біопотенціалів. The paper provides biopotential analysis software that allows to measure, filter, display, and analyze bioelectric signals. In modern automated systems there are systems of biomanagement. These systems use bioelectric potentials as control signals, which is applicable in various fields. The largest application of biomanagement systems has been acquired in the fields of prosthetics, automation, sports and in the diagnostics of human condition. The main factors affecting the recording of human biopotentials are the intrinsic bioelectric potentials of the human body that are generated as a result of the work of human organs, and the alternating external electromagnetic fields from devices. To create the software, an integrated LabVIEW environment has been used. This LabVIEW software environment provides enhanced signal processing and analysis features. The main advantage of software implementation of filters is the ability to create a convenient signal processing system for laboratory testing and the relative ease of changing their parameters for current tasks. Software filtering is implemented by specialized software from the LabVIEW library – a platform and development environment for the graphical programming language. An example of a filtered signal and a block diagram of a developed program for analyzing biopotentials has been also given. Thus, the developed software for bioelectric potential analysis is more versatile due to the ability to customize the program on a computer. This will allow the development of medical devices based on the developed complex, in which biopotential is the main information signal. In addition, due to the developed software, it is possible to make measurements of bioelectric potentials of different nature, for example, the biopotentials of plants in the agro-industrial field.

The continuous growth in mobile data traffic and limited license wireless spectrum have led to dramatically increase the demand of the radio spectrum. It is widespread the concern about the coexistence of long term evolution (LTE) and Wi-Fi in the unlicensed band. There are several techniques have been proposed to enable the coexistence of LTE and Wi-Fi in the unlicensed band, but these works are targeted on the impact of the LTE to the Wi-Fi network performance. An experiment is carried out in this work to evaluate the impact of Wi-Fi signal on the video streaming in the LTE network. The experimental test comprised of the national instrument (NI) universal software radio peripheral (USRP) 2953R that is controlled by the LabVIEW Communication LTE application framework. Extensiveexperiments are carried out under two scenarios, i.e. (1) Coexistence of LTE and Wi-Fi signal, (2) LTE signal only. Performance evaluations are carried out with different Modulation and coding schemes (MCS) values and different mode of operations, i.e. frequency division duplex (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) mode. The results illustrated that the interference from Wi-Fi signal caused the performance degradation of the LTE network in throughput and the power received by user equipment (UE).

Context. The task of rapid and accurate measurement of the dynamic characteristics of modern signal sources with a frequency output, in particular, the short-time frequency instability function, calls for refining measurement techniques with account of the requirement to improve their metrological characteristics, reduce test time, and automate measurements by using information-and-measurement systems. Objective. The goal of the work is to develop a method of measuring the short-time frequency instability function using the principle of pulse packet coincidence and experimental investigation of measurement devices based on this principle. Method. A method was developed for measuring the short-time frequency instability function based on the principle of packet coincidence of regular independent pulse trains. The developed method has advantages over the best version of the method based on the period-time interval-code (PTC) conversion when working with the same initial value of the investigated frequency and when working with the same value of the averaging interval. Results. Analytical relationships were obtained for basic metrological characteristics. A comparative analysis was carried out for the metrological characteristics of the developed method and the method using period-time interval-code conversion. Acceptable metrological characteristics are inherent to the short-time frequency instability function (SFIF) measurement method based on the period-time interval-code technique. The difference of investigated and reference intervals form the measurement interval, which is filled with pulses of the investigated or reference frequencies. Conclusions. Stand-alone and virtual measurement devices were developed, and experimental studies of standard oscillators were carried out. The features of measurement devices were specified and the ways of their further improvement were described. Further development of the measurement device can involve an increase in the number of measured signal source with frequency output (SFO) parameters, in particular, changes in short-time frequency instability due to the action of destabilizing factors, and the characteristics and time of frequency setting. This calls for developing a controlled source of destabilizing factors and synchronizing its operation with the measurement device., Задача быстрого и точного измерения динамических характеристик современных источников сигналов с частотным выходом (ИЧВ), в частности функции кратковременной нестабильности частоты (ФКНЧ), требует усовершенствования методов измерения с учетом необходимости улучшения их метрологических характеристик, снижения времени проведения испытаний, возможности автоматизации измерений за счет применения информационно-измерительных систем. Цель работы состоит в разработке метода измерения ФКНЧ на принципе совпадения импульсов пакетами и экспериментальных исследованиях измерителей на его основе. Разработан метод измерения функции кратковременной нестабильности частоты на принципе совпадений регулярных независимых последовательностей импульсов пакетами. Разработанный метод имеет преимущества в сравнении с лучшим вариантом метода на базе преобразования ПВК при работе с одинаковым начальным значением исследуемой частоты и при работе с одинаковым значением интервала усреднения. Получены аналитические соотношения для основных метрологических характеристик. Проведен сравнительный анализ метрологических характеристик разработанного метода и метода на базе преобразования период-временной интервал-код. Хорошими метрологическими характеристиками обладает метод измерения ФКНЧ на базе преобразования период-временной интервал-код (ПВК), в котором формируется измерительный интервал как разность исследуемого и опорного интервалов и заполняется импульсами исследуемой или опорной частот. Реализованы автономный и виртуальный измерители, а также проведены экспериментальные исследования стандартных генераторов. Указаны особенности измерителей и пути их дальнейшего совершенствования. Дальнейшее развитие измерителя возможно в направлении увеличения количества измеряемых параметров ИЧВ, в частности, изменения кратковременной нестабильности частоты от воздействия дестабилизирующих факторов, характеристики и времени установления частоты. Для этого необходимо разработать управляемый источник дестабилизирующих факторов и синхронизировать его работу с измерителем., Актуальність. Завдання швидкого й точного вимірювання динамічних характеристик сучасних джерел сигналів з частотним виходом, зокрема функції короткочасної нестабільності частоти (ФКНЧ), потребує вдосконалення методів вимірювання з урахуванням необхідності поліпшення їх метрологічних характеристик, зниження часу проведення випробувань, можливості автоматизації вимірювань за рахунок застосування інформаційно-вимірювальних систем. Мета роботи полягає в розробці методу вимірювання ФКНЧ на принципі збігів імпульсів пакетами та експериментальних дослідженнях вимірювачів на його основі. Метод. Розроблено метод вимірювання функції короткочасної нестабільності частоти на принципі збігів регулярних незалежних послідовностей імпульсів пакетами. Розроблений метод має переваги в порівнянні з кращим варіантом методу на базі перетворення період-часовий інтервал-код у разі роботи з однаковим початковим значенням досліджуваної частоти і при роботі з однаковим значенням інтервалу усереднення. Результати. Отримані аналітичні співвідношення для основних метрологічних характеристик. Проведено порівняльний аналіз метрологічних характеристик розробленого методу й методу на базі перетворення період-часовий інтервал-код. Добрими метрологічними характеристиками володіє метод вимірювання ФКНЧ на базі перетворення період-часовий інтервал-код, в якому формується вимірювальний інтервал як різниця досліджуваного і опорного інтервалів і заповнюється імпульсами досліджуваної або опорної частот. Висновки. Реалізовано автономний й віртуальний вимірювачі, а також проведено експериментальні дослідження стандартних генераторів. Вказано особливості вимірювачів і шляхи їх подальшого удосконалення. Подальший розвиток вимірювача можливо в напрямку збільшення кількості вимірюваних параметрів джерел сигналів з частотним виходом, зокрема, зміни короткочасної нестабільності частоти від впливу дестабілізуючих факторів, характеристики і часу встановлення частоти. Для цього необхідно розробити керований джерело дестабілізуючих факторів і синхронізувати його роботу з вимірником.

This paper proposes an improved control and monitors between two different PLCs, the Mitsubishi, and Omron. The main advantage is interoperability and communication between both PLC. The use of NI OPC server as the software interface reached interoperability and communication. There were developed two field applications to test interoperability. Laboratory virtual instrument engineering workbench (LabVIEW) uses as the software application for creating the user interface to control and monitor. This improvement show OPC server technology solves data compatibility issue between different driver controller’s and reducing development cost. Regardless of whether there are more than two different PLCs, it's enough to use the NI OPC server. So the benefit of the NI OPC server is not limited to two types of PLC used right now but can also use the other manufacturers. Besides, the improvement of the previous study is the use of the LabVIEW makes data from the OPC server displayed more realistic. The use of LabVIEW allows additional monitoring functions, one of which is LabVIEW vision. Data utilization becomes more flexible, and so it can use for more complex purposes. It is envisaged that this is very useful for Integrator engineer to implement this method in industrial automation

We describe the implementation of a bespoke two arm hydraulically actuated robotic platform which is used to semi-autonomously cut approximately 50 mm diameter pipes of three different materials: cardboard, ABS plastic and aluminium. The system is designed to be utilised within radiologically active environments where human access is limited due to dose limits and thus remote operation is greatly beneficial. The remotely located operator selects the object from an image via a bespoke algorithm featuring a COTS 3D vision system, along with the desired positions for gripping with one manipulator, and cutting with the other. A pseudo-Jacobian inverse kinematic technique and a programmable automation controller are used to achieve the appropriate joint positions within the dual arm robotic platform. In this article, we present the latest developments to the system and the lessons learnt from the new cutting experiments with a reciprocating saw. A comparison to tele-operated control and manual cutting is also made, with this technique shown to be slower than manual cutting, but faster than pure tele-operational control, where the requirements for highly trained users and operator fatigue are further deleterious factors.

Recently The prestigious universities of the world strive and aim to computerize their distance education service and more specifically the remote practical work, which allows students to manipulate electronic experiments via the web, for to solve a set of problems: pedagogical, management, security, restriction by time and place and the problems the overcrowding of students in universities. This paper will describe the E@SLab system developed by the university Cadi Ayyad member of the e-live project funded by EU in the frame of ERASMUS+E@SLab is based on the latest technologies of development and respects educational and pedagogical standards. E@SLab offers 2 versions different of remote laboratory: first version (s1) is an embedded system its part software is node js+Ubuntu and the part hardware a card pcduino or raspebery. The second version (s2) is based on LABview and its hardware part is the NI ELVIS II pedagogical map. In this paper, we will compare and discuss the architecture, performance of the 2 versions of E@SLAB and review other famous approaches NetLab, VISIR, for comparing with E@SLab with the intention show its singularity.

This paper deals with the complete design procedure, implementation and control software realization for a multi-converter charging station with reduced grid impact due to local electromechanical energy storage. In particular, energy storage is accomplished by a dedicated flywheel designed and built for this purpose. The proposed charging station was designed for ultra-fast charging procedures presenting a strongly reduced impact on the electrical grid. Modes of operations are described with reference to pure electric buses in public transportation applications.

Consumer electronic manufacturing (CEM) companies face a constant challenge to maintain quality standards during frequent product launches. A manufacturing test verifies product functionality and identifies manufacturing defects. Failure to complete testing can even result in product recalls. In this research, a universal automated testing system has been proposed for CEM companies to streamline their test process in reduced test cost and time. A universal hardware interface is designed for connecting commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) test equipment and unit under test (UUT). A software application, based on machine learning, is developed in LabVIEW. The test site data for around 100 test sites have been collected. The application automatically selects COTS test equipment drivers and interfaces on UUT and test measurements for test sites through a universal hardware interface. Further, it collects real-time test measurement data, performs analysis, generates reports and key performance indicators (KPIs), and provides recommendations using machine learning. It also maintains a database for historical data to improve manufacturing processes. The proposed system can be deployed standalone as well as a replacement for the test department module of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems providing direct access to test site hardware. Finally, the system is validated through an experimental setup in a CEM company.

Displacements or deformations of materials or structures are measured with linear variable differential transducers (LVDT), fibre optic sensors, laser sensors, and confocal sensor systems, while strains are measured with electro-resistant tensometers or wire strain gauges. Measurements significantly limited to a point or a small area are the obvious disadvantage of these measurements. Such disadvantages are eliminated by performing measurements with optical techniques, such as digital image correlation (DIC) or electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI). Many devices applied to optical measurements only record test results and do not cooperate with the system that exerts and controls load. This paper describes the procedure for preparing a test stand involving the Digital Image Correlation system ARAMIS 6M for remote-controlled loading. The existing hydraulic power pack (ZWICK-ROELL) was adapted by installing the modern NI cRIO-9022 controller operating under its own software developed within the LABVIEW system. The application of the DIC techniques to directly control load on the real structure is the unquestionable innovation of the described solution. This led to the elimination of errors caused by the test stand susceptibility and more precise relations between load and displacements/strains which have not been possible using the previous solutions. This project is a synergistic and successful combination of civil engineering, computer science, automatic control engineering and electrical engineering that provides a new solution class. The prepared stand was tested using two two-span, statically non-determinable reinforced concrete beams loaded under different conditions (force or displacement). The method of load application was demonstrated to affect the redistribution of bending moments. The conducted tests confirmed the suitability of the applied technique for the remote controlling and recording of test results. Regardless of the load control method (with force or displacement), convergent results were obtained for the redistribution of bending moments. Force-controlled rotation of the beam section over the support was over 50% greater than rotation of the second beam controlled with an increase in the displacement.

Maintaining the quality of the water quality is one of the important aspects that play a substantial effect on the aquaculture industry especially in the tilapia industry. The quality of the water needs to be continuously monitored as any deviation from the allowed critical parameters such as water temperature and potential of hydrogen (pH) can cause unwanted scenarios such as disease, stress, higher mortality rate and profit loss. Currently, the monitoring process adopted by most fish breeders is done manually by using a portable sensor. This approach is found to be very tedious, ineffective use of manpower and time consuming particularly for the large-scale aquaculture industry. Hence, this research focuses on developing a simple, low-cost automated water quality monitoring system for the tilapia industry via LabVIEW software. The developed system will be able to monitor the parameter in real-time continuously with the capability of record and analyze each reading in a more efficient way. A data acquisition (DAQ) of NI myRIO-1900 is used as an interface between sensors and a monitoring station equipped with LabVIEW. Additionally, the developed system is equipped with an alarm system to alert the user when any deviation of the parameters occurs. Result shows that the system has a small range of average relative error of 4.28% and 6.22% for temperature and pH level respectively as compare to the portable sensor. Note that the errors are down to the selection of sensors. Furthermore, the developed prototype of the monitoring system has advantages in terms of its flexibility in extending the system with more sensors and allows a longer period of data collection without human intervention. The system is also upgradable with the integration of a control element to control the parameter when the monitored parameter is exceeded the threshold value. Succinctly, the system offers lots of advantages to the aquaculture industries with further improvement leads to better performance.

Nowadays with the evolution of Internet of Things (IoT), building a network of sensors for measuring data from remote locations requires a good plan considering a lot of parameters including power consumption. A Lot of communication technologies such as WIFI, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Lora, Sigfox, and GSM/GPRS are being used based on the application and this application will have some requirements such as communication range, power consumption, and detail about data to be transmitted. In some places, especially the hilly area like Rwanda and where GSM connectivity is already covered, GSM/GPRS may be the best choice for IoT applications. Energy consumption is a big challenge in sensor nodes which are specially supplied by batteries as the lifetime of the node and network depends on the state of charge of the battery. In this paper, we are focusing on static sensor nodes communicating using the GPRS protocol. We acquired current consumption for the sensor node in different locations with their corresponding received signal quality and we tried to experimentally find a mathematical data-driven model for estimating the GSM/GPRS sensor node battery lifetime using the received signal strength indicator (RSSI). This research outcome will help to predict GPRS sensor node life, replacement intervals, and dynamic handover which will in turn provide uninterrupted data service. This model can be deployed in various remote WSN and IoT based applications like forests, volcano, etc. Our research has shown convincing results like when there is a reduction of &minus, 30 dBm in RSSI, the current consumption of the radio unit of the node will double.

This publication describes an innovative approach to voice control of operational and technical functions in a real Smart Home (SH) environment, where, for voice control within SH, it is necessary to provide robust technological systems for building automation and for technology visualization, software for recognition of individual voice commands, and a robust system for additive noise canceling. The KNX technology for building automation is used and described in the article. The LabVIEW SW tool is used for visualization, data connectivity to the speech recognizer, connection to the sound card, and the actual mathematical calculations within additive noise canceling. For the actual recognition of commands, the SW tool for recognition within the Microsoft Windows OS is used. In the article, the least mean squares algorithm (LMS) and independent component analysis (ICA) are used for additive noise canceling from the speech signal measured in a real SH environment. Within the proposed experiments, the success rate of voice command recognition for different types of additive interference (television, vacuum cleaner, washing machine, dishwasher, and fan) in the real SH environment was compared. The present work aims to provide an implemented program using LabVIEW ™ software for the recognition of tubular atrophy in renal biopsy images.The procedure for the assessment of the kidney transplantability involves the visual analysis of one or more samples of renal tissue taken by percutaneous renal biopsy techniques. The sample is subsequently treated with histomorphological or histochemical staining techniques and subsequently analyzed by optical microscopy. The images obtained were elaborated to highlight the atrophic and physiological tubules and inflammatory cells often involved in cases of tubulointerstitial nephritis (TIN).The aim is to facilitate the task of the pathologist by providing information on the functional score to reduce observation and diagnosis times and consequently speed up renal transplant operations.

Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation is a technique that is being used increasingly in the development and test of complex systems. Real-world testing of an intricate system in a field-like power plant can be challenging, time-consuming, expensive, and hazardous. HIL emulators allow engineers to test devices thoroughly and efficiently in a virtual environment with high reliability and minimum risk of defect. In this paper, the complete electric power system (including generator, turbine-governor, excitation system, transmission lines, transformer, external grid and related loads) is implemented in a MATLAB/Simulink environment. Different virtual instrument pages are modeled in the graphical programming language of LabVIEW which enable fast and reliable measurement functions such as data acquisition, archiving, real-time graphical display and processing. The interaction between MATLAB and LabVIEW is accomplished by generating a Pharlap ETS Targets *.dll file which enables the two software to exchange real-time data. Also, a real 1518-kW excitation system is considered as a test case for the introduced HIL system. This equipment is connected to LabVIEW software through a National Instrument PXI technology. Different scenarios (electrical frequency/active power change, voltage step response, etc.) are simulated in the designed power system emulator (PSE). The validity of the implemented model for the excitation system is verified by finding good matching between MATLAB and HIL simulation results.

In this paper, the method of binary data transmission and receiving is first suggested and experimentally investigated. The method uses dynamical chaos as a source of multiple carrier frequencies. On the server side, the transmitter configures informational signal in the form of frequency grid with chaotically varying frequencies of the spectrum with their amplitudes corresponding to transmitted information message. On the client side, the transmitted information is re-stored using chaotically selected spectral windows. Synchronization of the server and client dynamic chaos generators is achieved by means of TCP/IP protocol. Suggested method is based on combined transmission of information message via transmission channel and background signal. Power of background signal significantly exceeds power of informational one. The method allows using different informational signal as a background signal, such as voice message. The addition of low power chaotically formed frequency grid signal does not lead to significant background signal formation either in spectral or in time domain. Thus, the described method allows repeated application of the transmission channel. The effect of signal-to noise ratio of the order of the filter implementing the spectral windows in the receiver and the width of the spectral window is investigated. Signal-to-noise ratio can be reduced with increasing filter order and spectral window width.

The current railway track circuit monitoring system is prone to disturbances that can result in accidents. Meanwhile, basic signaling equipment is slow and cannot achieve satisfactory real-time data acquisition speed. This study aims to solve the aforementioned problems by designing an online monitoring and management platform for railway signal infrastructure, which is based on the graphical programming language LabVIEW. Online monitoring and management of railways’ basic signaling equipment allow real-time collection and communication of various signal equipment data. These processes also enable signal processing, chart display, acousto-optic alarm, user authority management, data storage, data query analysis, and report printing. The test results show that the LabVIEW-based basic signaling equipment for monitoring and managing railway systems can transmit data correctly and steadily, thereby resulting in convenient and ideal operation.

El Centro de Estudios Aeronáuticos (CEA) de la Aeronáutica Civil (UAEAC) ubicado en la ciudad de Bogotá, Colombia, cuenta con un túnel de viento subsónico denominado ELD 402B tipo Eiffel para el desarrollo de prácticas de aerodinámica. Esto le permite al Grupo de Investigación Aeronáutica (G.IN.A) de la institución contar con una herramienta para realizar labores en investigación y docencia. Por lo cual se propone como objetivo desarrollar un sistema de adquisición de datos aerodinámicos y la interfaz del usuario del túnel de viento subsónico. Con el fin de ampliar las capacidades de este túnel de viento, se desarrolló e implementó un sistema que permite adquirir las señales de los sensores de la balanza aerodinámica, ubicados en la sección de pruebas del túnel de viento. La adquisición y procesamiento se realizó con la herramienta de software LabVIEW, con la cual se implementó una interfaz gráfica que permite visualizar las variables entregadas por los sensores, las fuerzas aerodinámicas principales en el perfil alar de prueba, coeficientes aerodinámicos y velocidad relativa del flujo de aire al momento del experimento. En este documento se presentan los resultados de las pruebas de funcionamiento y el proceso de diseño e implementación del sistema que permite hacer mediciones de las variables aerodinámicas, como son los coeficientes de sustentación y arrastre para el modelo que se encuentre en la sección de pruebas del túnel de viento en tiempo real.

This study aims to identify the type of coffee powder aroma from the coffee beans blending using backpropagation artificial neural network (ANN). Backpropagation is a controlled training implementing a weight adjustment pattern to achieve a minimum error value between the the predicted and the actual output. Within this study, the coffee aroma testing utilized electronic tasting sensor system consisted of 4 sensors namely TGS 2611, TGS 2620, TGS 2610 and TGS 2602. The coffee aroma monitoring and data collection in this system applied LabVIEW software as a virtual instrumentation. The testing result of this ANN was able to distinguish the coffee variety of Robusta, Arabica coffee powder and the one without any coffee aroma. The backpropagation architecture was formed by 3 layers consisting of 1 input layer with 4 input nerve cells, 1 hidden layer with 8 neural cells, and 2 output layers by applying the backpropagation training algorithm. The training data was taken from 70 data samples of each circumstance of coffee with 5 testing times. The results of the training and testing showed that the established backpropagation was capable to identify and differenciate the coffee powder in accordance with the given input with different average success rate; 91.96% for Robusta coffee, 100 % for Arabica coffee, and no 84.24% for without coffee aroma.

This work describes computerized data acquisition system for current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of diodes. The proposed system consist of a personal computer pre-installed with LabVIEW, two units of power supply, an interface board, current and voltage sensors. Two devices under test (DUTs) are selected namely 1N4007 silicon and 1N34 germanium diodes. The current flow through the circuit and voltage across the diode is measured and I-V characteristic is successfully plotted. When data acquisition interrupted by the user, real time I-V curve with least-square fitting is plotted. The LabVIEW was employed primarily to display data from sensors and storing collected data for further post-measurement processing. Estimated forward voltage drop from plotted I-V curve was then compared with the published value from manufacturer’s datasheet. Comparison revealed that developed system has been successfully characterized both DUTs base on the forward voltage drop obtained from the plotted I-V curve. Furthermore, proposed system architecture offers extra flexibility where stored data can be manipulated with minimum programming efforts. The application of the proposed system can also be extended for in-situ device characterization in various circuits.

The present paper proposes a highly reconfigurable beamformer stimulus generator of radar antenna array, which includes three main blocks: settings of antenna array, settings of objects (signal sources) and a beamforming simulator. Following from the configuration of antenna array and object settings, different stimulus can be generated as the input signal for a beamformer. This stimulus generator is developed under a greater concept with two utterly independent paths where one is the stimulus generator and the other is the hardware beamformer. Both paths can be complemented in final and in intermediate steps as well to check and improve system performance. This way the technology development process is promoted by making each of the future hardware steps more substantive. Stimulus generator configuration capabilities and test results are presented proving the application of the stimulus generator for FPGA based beamforming unit development and tuning as an alternative to an actual antenna system.

This paper describes the implementation of LabVIEW software to control instruments and acquire data from a piezoelectric energy harvesting test station which is based on a cantilever structure. The experiment is run in the Clean Energy Laboratory on the Ambient Energy Harvester Test Station. A digital multimeter, a programmable resistance selector, an arbitrary waveform generator, a shaker table, an accelerometer and a laser displacement sensor are used to control and acquire data in terms of harvested energy as a function of vibration frequency and load resistance. LabVIEW software is used to control the test station which makes near real-time data measurements, displays waveforms on a PC screen, and stores data for later analysis. Acquired waveforms are presented in terms of frequency versus voltage of the vibrating cantilever at preselected ranges of load resistances in terms of either AC or DC voltages. The vibration of the cantilever beam is measured with an accelerometer and beam movement is measured with a laser displacement meter. Test results are stored in a comma separated variable text file which can be imported into any data analysis software package. All experiments are performed on an isolated optical bench to avoid interference from mechanical noise that may exist in the surrounding environment. The system provides an integrated approach to characterize key performance indicators for energy harvesting materials and devices.

The chaotic systems are preferred in secure communication systems as well as used in many different implementation areas. Real time chaos synchronization is also required for secure communication systems. In this study, the Master–Slave synchronization of chaotic Chen system was performed on a real time implementation for the secure communication systems. Active control method was used in the design of controller required for the realization of synchronization. The successful realization of the Master-Slave synchronization of the Chen system by using the controller designed on MATLAB/Simulink was shown by the obtained simulation results. Moreover, by using analogue outputs of NI-DAQ card, the Master-Slave synchronization of the Chen system was obtained and secure communication was achieved on a real time basis under LabVIEW environment.

This paper investigate the integration of wearable robotic arm input (WRAI) with virtual instrument (VI) for controlling and monitoring the manipulator. The WRAI was designed by following the contours of human arms and equipped with five potentiometers as the sensor. The sensors were placed properly on WRAI by considering the ergonomic aspect. Each sensor on WRAI actuate each joint on the manipulator. The manipulator has five degrees of freedom (DOF) which consists of five revolute joints. For monitoring process, control panel of VI was created suitably by LabVIEW, and its block diagram was mainly programmed by following the forward kinematics approach. The VI obtains the input signal from the rotation of potentiometer on WRAI, and then transmitted to the receiver on manipulator to actuate the joints. By monitoring the control panel, the user can observe each angle joint on manipulator and also the position and orientation of end effector. The test results show the WRAI performs good controllability and ergonomic. The WRAI can control the manipulator easier than using remote control and joystick. Further, the control panel of VI is able to simplify the monitoring process by the friendly user interface.

The Laboratório de Aceleradores e Tecnologias de Radiação (LATR) at the Campus Tecnológico e Nuclear, of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) has a horizontal electrostatic particle accelerator based on the Van de Graaff machine which is used for research in the area of material characterization. This machine produces alfa (He+) and proton (H+) beams of some μA currents up to 2 MeV/q energies. Beam focusing is obtained using a cylindrical lens of the Einzel type, assembled near the high voltage terminal. This paper describes the developed system that automatically focuses the ion beam, using a personal computer running the LabVIEW software, a multifunction input/output board and signal conditioning circuits. The focusing procedure consists of a scanning method to find the lens bias voltage which maximizes the beam current measured on a beam stopper target, which is used as feedback for the scanning cycle. This system, as part of a wider start up and shut down automation system built for this particle accelerator, brings great advantages to the operation of the accelerator by turning it faster and easier to operate, requiring less human presence, and adding the possibility of total remote control in safe conditions.

One of the important aspects in industrial field is a good material handling in logistics. Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) can be an alternative to making an optimal logistics system. A widely used type of AGV based on its navigation system is line follower robot. This paper explains about applying the line follower robot integrated with LabVIEW to implement ultrasonic sensor as a radar to determine an empty space in logistic storage. The utilization of ultrasonic radar makes the searching process of empty space in the storage faster. Meanwhile, LabVIEW interface is used to help the operator to monitor material handling process. The result of the testing showed that ultrasonic sensor reading in Virtual Instrument LabVIEW has a good precision level when the line follower robot moves in a straight path. The error rate was 6,19% compared to the real situation.Salah satu aspek penting dalam dunia industri adalah penanganan material yang baik pada bagian logistik. Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) dapat menjadi alternatif untuk mengoptimalkan sistem logistik tersebut. Jenis AGV yang banyak digunakan berdasarkan jenis navigasinya adalah robot pengikut garis. Pada artikel ini, dipaparkan penggunaan robot pengikut garis yang diintegrasikan dengan LabVIEW untuk mengimplementasikan sensor ultrasonik sebagai radar yang berfungsi menentukan lokasi kosong pada tempat penyimpanan barang. Penggunaan radar ultrasonik membuat pencarian ruang kosong pada tempat penyimpanan menjadi lebih cepat, sedangkan untuk membantu operator dalam memonitor proses penanganan material digunakan antarmuka LabVIEW. Berdasarkan hasil beberapa kali pengujian, pembacaan sensor ultrasonik pada Virtual Instrument LabVIEW memiliki tingkat presisi pembacaan cukup baik pada saat pengikut garis bergerak di lintasan lurus. Adapun kesalahan dalam pembacaan sebesar 6,19% dibandingkan dengan kondisi sebenarnya.

A LabVIEW®-based software for the control of the fully automated multi-sequential flow injection analysis Lab-on-Valve (MSFIA-LOV) platform AutoRAD performing radiochemical analysis is described. The analytical platform interfaces an Arduino®-based device triggering multiple detectors providing a flexible and fit for purpose choice of detection systems. The different analytical devices are interfaced to the PC running LabVIEW®VI software using USB and RS232 interfaces, both for sending commands and receiving confirmation or error responses. The AUTORAD platform has been successfully applied for the chemical separation and determination of Sr, an important fission product pertinent to nuclear waste.

A hardware and software implementation of compact data acquisition system for pulsed nuclear quadrupole resonance spectrometer is proposed. The developed system is based on multi-protocol converter USB-245FIFO FT2232H, which provides data transfer speeds up to 480 Mb/s. For nuclear spin induction visualization and data signal processing using graphical tools of the object oriented programming a LabVIEW virtual instrument is synthesized. To synchronize data acquisition system with start of the exciting pulse the FPGA configuration structure is developed. The experimental results are showed possibility of the broadband nuclear quadrupole resonance spectrums imaging with frequency resolution 1.6 kHz, which confirms the high accuracy of the developed data acquisition system. Two-channel transmitter provides simultaneous operation of the two independent data channels in a single hardware USB interface. The use of the proposed data acquisition system for portable nuclear quadrupole resonance spectrometers will significantly reduce the cost of laboratory equipment for radio physical experimentation.

The Advanced Microcontroller Bus Architecture Advanced eXtensible Interface is a memory mapped protocol intended for internal System on Chip communications. However, there is no mean to directly exchange data between AXI devices and LabVIEW applications. This work proposes a novel and streamlined bridge solution to transfer data directly and effectively from/to an AXI target memory and any LabVIEW FPGA application, essential to integrate AXI-based architectures into PXI FPGA peripheral modules. The block diagram of the proposed IP solution and synthesis results are presented for target programmable devices of interest.

In this paper, we report a simple method to extract thickness and refractive index of thin-film from experimentally measured reflectivity spectra using teaching-learning based optimization (TLBO) algorithm. The algorithm finds thickness and refractive index by fitting an experimentally measured reflectivity spectra with theoretically ones generated by transfer matrix approach. The value of refractive index as a function of wavelength is determined by considering sellmeier dispersion relation. The algorithm is implemented by means of an interactive numerical simulation using LabVIEW as a programming tool. To check the effectiveness of the self-developed program, it is tested on different thin-film samples prepared from some commonly used optical materials such as MgF2, Al2O3 and SiO2 using electron beam evaporation technique. The values of thicknesses and refractive index spectra for different thin-film samples obtained by TLBO algorithm are verified using standard spectroscopic ellipsometry measurements. It is found that there is an excellent agreement between the results obtained by the TLBO algorithm and those by ellipsometry. It is also demonstrated that a simple reflectivity measurements give the valuable information about the thickness and dispersive refractive index over a range of wavelengths, which are obtained by our self-developed simulation program based on TLBO algorithm.

The multilayered anti-reflection coating (ARC) has been designed and implemented on the facets of edge-emitting laser diode in order to achieve ultra-low reflectivity over a broad wavelength range for suppression of optical feedback in the laser cavity. The design of the multilayer ARC has been obtained by a self-developed program based on genetic algorithm (GA) to achieve low-reflectivity of the order of 0.1 % over a spectral width of 50 nm around the central lasing wavelength of 818 nm and successfully implemented on the laser-diode facets. The effects of facets coating on the optical power emission and the spectral response of the lasers have been investigated. It is demonstrated that the simple design of multilayered ARC obtained using a self-developed GA can successfully reduce the optical feedback from the cavity and prevent the lasing action from the structure, which can be very useful for the fabrication of superluminescent Light Emitting Diodes (SLEDs).

Industry 4.0 uses the analysis of real-time data, artificial intelligence, automation, and the interconnection of components of the production lines to improve manufacturing efficiency and quality. Manufacturing Execution Systems (MESs) and Autonomous Intelligent Vehicles (AIVs) are key elements of Industry 4.0 implementations. An MES connects, monitors, and controls data flows on the factory floor, while automation is achieved by using AIVs. The Robot Operating System (ROS) built AIVs are targeted here. To facilitate MES and AIV interactions, there is a need to integrate the MES and the AIVs to help in building an automated and interconnected manufacturing environment. This integration needs middleware, which understands both MES and AIVs. To address this issue, a LabVIEW-based scheduler is proposed here as the middleware. LabVIEW communicates with the MES through webservices and has support for ROS. The main task of the scheduler is to control the AIV based on MES requests. The scheduler developed was tested in a real factory environment using the SAP MES and a Robotnik &lsquo, RB-1&prime, robot. The scheduler interface provides real-time information about the current status of the MES, AIV, and the current stage of scheduler processing. The proposed scheduler provides an efficient automated product delivery system that transports the product from process cell to process cell using the AIV, based on the production sequences defined by the MES. In addition, using the proposed scheduler, integration of an MES is possible with any low-cost ROS-built AIV.

Two crucial points in the development of an experimental-test system concern specifically the instrument-management subsystem and are: (1) coordinating the acquisitions from the connected instruments and (2) making the data easily usable by the users through a rational interface. Regarding the first point, an ex-post synchronization of the readings previously gathered during the tests can be computationally heavy (due to: different file-formats and sampling frequencies of instruments; sometimes also non-synchronized internal clocks). Rather, a properly-said instruments synchronization during the experimentation and a unique recipient for all gatherings is certainly more effective, allowing the users to have, at the end of a test session, ready-made data for any subsequent processing phase. However, its implementation requires a lot of work concerning: the set-up/creation of hardware interfaces, the writing of a software program and the implementation of a simple and reliable user interface, but it is always preferable. This approach has been followed to propose an integrated test-system for agricultural machines and all its logical steps are illustrated here as general guidelines for any future acquisition system. The management subsystem (“TRA-LOG”) of this experimental-test system is LabVIEW-based and has a graphical user-interface, developed according to modern ergonomic design concepts. TRA-LOG is able to: (1) simultaneously acquire data from a PTO-dyno, a fuel-consumption meter, an exhaust-gas analyser, many thermocouples, (2) display in real time the value of the acquisitions, (3) plot in real time the motor-performance graphs (torque, power) and other time-dependant graphs, (4) save the data in a spreadsheet-compatible format. After illustrating the development procedure and main features of this test system, we presented also its successful validation in the test of a New Holland T4020V farm tractor.

Background The new second-generation computer system BS-II (Bio-Spine-II) based on the National Instruments’ development environment has been designed and constructed for evaluating the stability of various surgical fixative methods of the cadaverous lumbar spine (L1–L5). BS-II holds the measured sample using aluminum fixtures and using four computer-controlled stepper motors; it performs a circular movement (warm up of the specimen), programmatically driven extension (back bend), right and left lateral flexion (lateral bend), left and right axial torsion (rotation), and axial compression (pressure). Four strain gauges are used to measure the stiffness of the sample. The movement of individual components (vertebrae) is contactlessly monitored by two CCD (charge couple device) cameras. The obtained data are in digital form continuously stored in the computer memory for further processing. Methods The functionality of the equipment was verified on the cadaverous specimen of the human spine. The stiffness of the sample was measured by strain gauges, and the results were processed using linear regression analysis. Movements of vertebrae were determined by circular discs covered with appropriate patterns. The discs have been linked with the respective vertebrae and were contactlessly monitored by two CCD (charge couple device) cameras and evaluated using digital image processing methods and 2D digital FFT (fast Fourier transformation). Direction and displacement of the individual components were determined by the band of the calculated spectrum. The new device BS-II is controlled by a modifiable computer program designed in the National Instruments’ development environment which allows statistical processing of the sample, including its warming up. Results The computer system BS-II for measurement of biomechanical properties of the spine sample was designed. Functionality of the device was verified by implementation of LUMIR XLIF CAGE implant into a cadaver sample of the human spine. Comparison of the rigidity of the intact and stabilized sample is shown in the graphs of article. The achieved results contributed to certification of the implant into the surgical practice. Conclusion The designed computer BS-II system is designed for biomechanical measurements of the lumbar part of the human spine, especially for verification of surgical fixation methods. The system is based on the knowledge and experience with a manually operated measuring device designed by Palacky University Olomouc. The computer programmatic control allows the user to change the conditions and parameters of the measurement procedure in a planned way, which allows the results to be processed in, among other things, a statistical way. If suitable models are used (3D printing), the BS-II system can be used to verify procedures for surgical stabilization of the spine in the training of future doctors. The obtained data of stiffness and image information are stored in digital form and can be used for next offline sophisticated study of biomechanical properties of specimens (accurate vertebral geometry, statistical processing, 3D printing, etc.). The usefulness of the BS-II system is demonstrated in the case of biomechanical analysis of the implantation of LUMIR XLIF CAGE implant to a human cadaver specimen of the spine.

Moreover, this paper make the combination of (SHA-1) which is a one way encryption, as a key with (AES) algorithm which is a two way encryption as a ciphering generator to obtain confidentiality and integrity, In this paper presented implementation of Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Secure Hash (SHA-1) Algorithm by the use of FPGA Hardware card, However implementation of the AES algorithm and SHA-1 using LABVIEW environment with MATLAB system generator to generate stream data to FPGA hardware target. The output of the hash function is used as an input key for AES in order to improve data security, From the algorithms result of AES and SHA-1 obtained in FPGA, the system obtained how it is simple in modeling hashing and AES algorithms, generating hash codes and plain texts in (small and capital letters), symbols and numbers. The FPGA card used in this system (Spartan 3AN)with frequency (50%), the complete system take (1,147)size from the available space of (11,776) and accuracy (90%),the system work properly. © 2019 IEEE.

This article presents a complete test equipment for the promising on-board serial high-speed SpaceFibre protocol, published by the European Committee for Space Standardization. SpaceFibre and SpaceWire are standard communication protocols for the latest technology sensor devices intended for on-board satellites and spacecrafts in general, especially for sensors based on image acquisition, such as scanning radiometers or star-tracking devices. The new design aims to provide the enabling tools to the scientific community and the space industry in order to promote the adoption of open standards in space on-board communications for current- and future-generation spacecraft missions. It is the first instrument expressly designed for LabVIEW users, and it offers tools and advanced features for the test and development of new SpaceFibre devices. In addition, it supports the previous SpaceWire standard and cross-communications. Thanks to novel cutting-edge design methods, the system complex architecture can be implemented on natively supported LabVIEW programmable devices. The presented system is highly customizable in terms of interface support and is provided with a companion LabVIEW application and LabVIEW Application Programming Interface (API) for user custom automated test-chains. It offers real-time capabilities and supports data rates up to 6.25 Gbps.The proposed solutions is then fairly compared with other currently available SpaceFibre test equipment. Its comprehensiveness and modularity make it suitable for either on-board device developments or spacecraft system integrations.

‘S’ specimen through its unique profile features makes it possible to fully mobilise the five-axis linkage function in the five-axis finishing stage. The continuous rotation direction of the rotating axis not only reflects the static error of the machine tool but also the servo system follow error, tool positioning error, profile error etc. The authors studied its influence on the accuracy of each axis of five-axis CNC machine tool by analysing the geometrical characteristics of a S specimen and using UG's CAM environment to process ‘S’ specimen. Finally, the corresponding program forming system for S specimen machining experiments is designed by LabVIEW, and the authors used macro instruction to do NC program trigger system to collect vibration signals segmentally, so that the processing and acquisition system can be synchronised. This provides a more complete basis for the test piece cutting method to evaluate performance of machine tools.

This article discusses application of data acquisition device National Instruments NI PCI-6221 for electrical separator low cost monitoring. Results can be applicable for air protection and air pollution prevention. Measured basic electrical and environmental values are logged into a file. Further the data serve as input for calculation of solid particles trajectory inside the separator. Influence of particular quantities onto the separator operation and particle trajectory calculation is discussed. Theoretical and technical limits of used device for high voltage measurements are explained in the first part. Main part of the paper deals with calculation of the trajectory and implementation in LabVIEW environment. Influence of particular physical parameters is elaborated. Presented ideas are generalized for more complex system in last chapter.
