In order for a process to operate successfully, it is necessary to constantly measure and improve its performance. One way to analyze the current state of performances of a company and its improvement is benchmarking. In a market-oriented environment, an enterprise must meet the expectations of different interest groups, or key stakeholders. However, in order to achieve business excellence, it is necessary to fulfill the requirements prescribed by the relevant standards. In this paper, the focus will be on the requirements of the ISO 9004: 2009 standard. The aim of the paper is to highlight the significance of the benchmark technique in measuring the business performances of companies. By implementing it, you can identify the strengths and weaknesses of the company in question. In this way, the process parameters that need to be improved are identified so that the company can improve its competitive position.

NFC technology is the short-range communication technology based on the exchange of data packages between two devices in close proximity. The big advantage of this technology is its application on various electronic devices, including mobile phones, resulting in a mobile module for data transmission. In practice, communication of two devices can be automated so data transfer is done automatically. Such performance creates great opportunities for the implementation of technology in various aspects of human life, from commercial activities to service relationships with various parts of public administration. This paper will analyze the contribution of NFC to electronic payment systems, including the way it takes the role of a new channel for payments initiation. Special attention will be devoted to the existing payment applications - digital wallets - that rely on NFC technology. In addition, the subjects of analysis are threats to the security of NFC communication and protection capabilities.

For determining the accuracy of a calorimeter over the instrument’s entire measuring range, a novel method has been established. For this new approach, (a) benzoic acid (C6H5CO2H) as a Certified Reference Material (CRM), (b) SiO2 and (c) a mixture of CRM benzoic acid and SiO2 have been used. To illustrate the essential difference between 1) the novel analytical method for control of the entire measurement range and 2) the calorimeter calibration, both applications of benzoic acid (BA) have been demonstrated. An experimental result showed that BA was successfully used to check the whole calorimeter measurement range. The results also showed that the same new method was successfully applied to determine the limit of detection and quantification. A new instrument testing process and a new measurement technique have thus been established. In this way, the cost of using CRM to control the accuracy of measuring the entire measuring range of the calorimeter, as shown in this paper, is minimized. The requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard are satisfied.

Open pelvic fractures are devastating injuries, rare, and with high mortality. Leading causes of mortality are: haemorrhage, infection and associated injuries. The aim of this paper is to point out methods of treating these injuries and great number of prognostic mortality factors. Material - in period from January 2011 to December 2015, 221 patients with pelvis ringfracture were treated in three large clinical centers of Serbia, of which 13(5%) had an open fracture type. We have classified pelvic ring fractures according to the Young - Burgess classification. We have classified injuries according to Gustilo at I, II, and III degree, and the location of the wound according to Faringer classification was distributed in zone I, II and III. Urogenital and intra-abdominal injuries were monitored, and severity of injuries was determined according to Severity Score Injury (ISS) and Trauma Score (TS). Results - there were 6(46%) women and 7(54%) men at the average age of 41(13 - 76). Injuries from traffic trauma are dominant. The most common cause of pelvic ring fracture is an anterior posterior compression - 6(46%), lateral compression - 4(31%) and vertical force in 3 (23%) patients. Dominant injuries are type I and II according to Gustilo, and zone I according to Faringer classification. There were 6 (46%) patients with urogenital injuries, and the same number with intra-abdominal injuries, of which 3(23%) patients have been treated with colon resection and diversion. Due to abundant hemorrhage and hypovolemic shock 2 patients died, and another one died after three days due to sepsis and multisystem organ failure (MSOF). Conclusion - Open pelvic fractures have high mortality rate, due to: haemorrhage, infection, associated abdominal and genitourinary tract injuries, ISS> 25, TS 65 years.

The status of essential and toxic trace elements in patients with different stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is still unclear and not well characterized. The present study examined the circulatory levels of a wide panel of trace elements (Al, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Rb, Sr, Cd, Pb, and U) in hemodialysis patients (HD group) and pre-dialysis patients with stage 3 CKD (PD group). Comparisons were made between groups of patients and healthy individuals from the control group (CG). The levels of Al, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, As, Se, Sr, and Pb were higher, while the levels of Cr, Zn, Rb, Cd, and U were lower in HD patients than in our CG. Higher levels of Al and Se, as well as lower levels of As, Sr, Zn, Rb, and U were significant and distinguished HD from PD. Among other analyzed elements, Co, Se, and U are the only trace elements that did not distinguish PD from CG at a statistically significant level. The HD group had lower serum U levels than the PD group, and this could be a result of hemodialysis. This study also revealed that the Cu/Zn ratio could be used as a marker for early and late detection of renal failure. Marked changes of essential and toxic trace element levels in sera indicate additional pathophysiological events in CKD, which could additionally contribute to the preexisting increased morbidity of HD patients. Measurement of trace elements in HD patients should be performed routinely. Supplementary Information The online version contains supplementary material available at 10.1007/s12011-021-02940-7.

The supply system consists of several elements, which in their characteristics are distinguished in the overall structure of the supply system. They are defined uniquely in accordance with the function they perform, and in reality they appear at all levels of the budget system organization. Functioning of the supply system is possible only with the existence of certain inventories or reserves of material assets. The stocks represent the prescribed and determined quantities of material assets stored in the warehouses in order to ensure the normal functioning of the institutions. Using the supplies management accounting model in textile industry is providing a continuous provision of equipment. This is essential to reach the adequate level of competence, which is in line with autonomous budget financing companies. Taking into account the specificity of the institutions, with an emphasis on the quality of the equipment, there is also the possibility for savings in maintaining them. The aim of this paper is to present how the inventory management accounting system can optimize costs in the textile industry due to the full satisfaction of the optimal supply criterion.

The role of employers in obtaining a job for people with disabilities can be crucial. The law on “Professional rehabilitation and employment of people with disabilities” was supposed to be a key factor in improving the position of this population in the labor market, but in practice this has not been confirmed. One of the major obstacles to the employment of persons with disabilities is the lack of a register of persons with disabilities where employers colud find potential candidates with appropriate skills and competencies. This research was conducted with the aim of identifying potential barriers to employment of persons with disabilities perceived from the perspective of employers. The sample consisted of 50 employers of both state and private companies in the city of Novi Sad. Employers were surveyed with a questionnaire created for the purposes of this research, modeled on the Employers' Motivation Questionnaire for Employment of Persons with Disabilities with the prior consent of the author. The results schow that the adaptation of the workplace and access to means of transport are the biggest obstacle when we are talking about employing people with disabilities. In order to gain a deeper insight into the perspective of employers regarding the employment of people with disabilities, it is important to take into account their direct experiences as well as what worries them and what they feel insufficiently competent when it comes to employing this population. Key words: people with disabilities, employers, barriers.

A 15-year-old indoor/outdoor female, neutered, domestic European short haired cat was presented to our clinic with a history of neck-elongation and wheezing during inspiration/expiration. The first signs of respiratory disease occurred two weeks before the clinical presentation. After taking of clinical history, clinical examination and basic laboratory tests (complete blood count, blood smear, snap Feline Immunodeficiency Virus/Feline Leukemia Virus Combo test), a lung x-ray was performed showing the presence of left lung atelectasis and pneumothorax. The primary causes of lung atelectasis were not determined. Given that the general condition of the cat was very bad, she was put in an oxygen cage, thoracocentesis was performed, but the animal’s condition did not improve, and 24 hours after clinical presentation, the cat died. Autopsy revealed the presence of a tumor mass on the caudal lobe of the right lung, tumor formation in the area of trachea bifurcation and changes in the liver in the form of four round structures of different sizes. Histopathologically, the existence of primary undifferentiated lung adenocarcinoma with metastases on the liver and trachea was determined.

Increased efficiency is a necessity for any company in the knowledge-based economy, rather than an option, in the circumstances of constant change and global competition. The efficiency of using resources, especially intellectual resources, is a crucial factor in assessing the financial strength of an enterprise. Since intellectual resources are immaterial and mainly invisible, measuring and managing them is difficult. Measuring human capital efficiency provides relevant information for management, as human capital significantly affects a company's performance. The aim of the paper is to explain the importance of measuring human capital efficiency through selected conventional and contemporary indicators. This paper will show what managerial information we could get thanks to the quantification of human capital efficiency in using the specific indicators in the labour productivity analysis.

Introduction - ankle fractures are third when it comes to frequency, right after hip and wrist joint fractures. Posterior malleolus fractures are common, comprising 7% to 44% of all ankle fractures, and are very rare on their own; that is a Volkmann triangle fracture. Ankle is a supporting joint in the human body, and fractures generally occur within rotation of the body with different fixed foot positions. The posterior malleolus is a very important structure in distal tibiofibular joint. Material and methods - we retrospectively present a group of 21 patients who had a fracture of the ankle and were surgically treated at the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology in Niš during the period from January 2013 to December 2015. The basic criterion for surgical treatment was the size of the fragment, > 25% from tibial joint surface and dislocation >2mm. We systemized all ankle fractures according to the Lauge Hansen system, which is based on the mechanism of injury. We evaluated treatment results according to the Olerud-Molander classification, followed by subjective and objective signs. We systemized posterior malleolus fractures into three types, according to the Haraguchi classification. Results - etiological causes of the fractures are: a fall at the same level - sport, skating in 11 (52.3%) patients, a fall from a height in 6 (28.6%) and traffic accident in 4 (21.1%) patients. According to the Lauge Hansen classification, there were 15 (71.4%) patients with a SER-type fracture, 4 (19%) of the PER type, and 2 (9.6%) of the PA type. End result of the treatment was excellent in 13 (61.9%) patients, good in 7 (33.4%) and poor in 1 (4.7%) patient. Post-traumatic arthritis (PTA) was assessed one year after the surgery and level 1 and 2 were present in 12 (57.1%) patients.

Aim: To report on the management strategies in patients with cancer of unknown primary (CUP) in middle-income countries. Methods: We conceived a survey of 20 items concerning the management of patients with CUP in daily clinical practice. Only participants from lower- and higher-middle-income countries, as per the World Bank Classification, were eligible for this study. Results: The indications for the first-line treatment did not differ between the two economic regions, whereas those for second-line treatment were more prevalent in higher-middle-income countries. The use of targeted therapy based on immunohistochemistry alone was higher in lower-middle-income countries, although the access to CUP classifiers was similar between the two regions. Conclusions: Proper recommendations must ensure that the economic burden is minimized and that other benefits outweigh the limited survival benefit achieved in patients with CUP.

The purpose of the paper is presenting the most noticeable trends in establishing work/life balance of managers and other employees worldwide. Due to global changes, establishing work/life balance of employees is considered a strategic topic for human resource management (HRM). The research was conducted through a thorough analysis of various theoretical and empirical studies from the previous period, both domestically and abroad, with the aim of determining the extent to which companies have integrated employees' work/life balance programs into their HRM strategy and daily operations. Introducing training and the use of employees' work/life balance benefits leads to reduced stress and increased productivity, commitment and employee satisfaction. Consequently, this leads to improved company performance-reduced absenteeism and leaving of the company, lower recruiting and training costs, attracting and retaining top quality employees, as well as better company image. This way, employees' work/life balance programs provide benefits for both the employees and the company.

This paper presents the results of statistical analysis of collected data on the characteristics of envelope elements, as one of the key factors influencing energy consumption and costs, of school buildings (primary and secondary schools) located in the south region of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SR FBiH). The shares of the areas of walls, floors, ceilings and openings in the total area of the envelope, as well as thermal characteristics expressed through the heat transfer coefficient or U-value, were analyzed. This research was conducted by collecting data from detailed energy audit documents on a sample of 47 school buildings located in SR FBiH, which has a Mediterranean or sub-Mediterranean climate. The average envelope U-value is 1.88 W/m2K, and the results of this study indicate very poor thermal characteristics of the existing condition of individual elements of the envelope, expressed by U-values, which are several times higher than the allowable values.

In contemporary business conditions, advanced market economies are characterized by the increasing contribution of the SMEs sector to the economic development. Having that in mind, a large number of papers have been aimed at analyzing business doing in this sector in the last couple of years. In this way, the focus has been shifted from large business entities and their importance to the economic growth to the SMEs sector. In this regard, the aim of this paper is to examine the financial situation, the place and the role of large companies in the overall economy of the Republic of Serbia, where, having in mind the fact that it is a transition economy, large enterprises, both private and public, significantly contribute to the growth of the economic activity and employment. Before all, the degree of the liquidity, efficiency, indebtedness and profitability of these companies in the period 2014-2017 was determined by using the ratio analysis. After that, on the basis of the selected ratios, a comparative financial performance analysis of large business entities in relation to those small, medium-sized and microwas carried out by applying the Entropy and the PROMETHEE II methods. The obtained results pointed out that large business entities had a favorable business economy in relation to the other groups of business entities by size, and their performances had improved to a certain extent in the observed period.

Marketing in the digital age is driven by software and algorithms, and is characterized by sociability, networking and personalization, which make children profitable targets for the advertising industry. Relying on a survey on UNICEF's U-Report platform registering children and youth, we wanted to examine whether young internet users in Serbia are aware that their personal data are revealed for advertising purposes and if they understand the digital marketing techniques that they are exposed to. Given that more than half of the survey respondents opened their accounts on social media before the age limit, that most of them share their personal information online and are largely indifferent to cookies on the websites they visit, it does not come as a surprise that young internet users in Serbia become an active target of advertising, which is often unwanted or inappropriate for their age. Bearing in mind the multidisciplinary nature of the topic, the recommendations for a variety of stakeholders, from publishers to creative industries and parents are given in the concluding remarks. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the importance of human capital, as location determinant for the foreign direct investment (FDI) decisions in the Western Balkan Countries between 2008 and 2016. Apart from the human capital indicators, several location determinants were used as control variables. The hypothesis has been tested by employing correlation and regression analysis. The empirical findings revealed the positive impact of primary education and the negative impact of tertiary education on the inflows. The analysis showed that political stability and control of corruption are more important location determinants than human capital. Therefore, the policy measures should be directed towards the improvement of institutional framework and creating a supporting environment for the FDI inflows.

Social psychiatry emphasizes the inclusion of mentally ill persons in family and social life. The negative attitude towards them is still an obstacle for achieving the best treatment results and their optimal quality of life. Young educated people could be an important community factor in the fight against stigmatization of psychiatric patients. The aim of the study was to determine the difference in attitudes among Serbian students attending different faculties, as well as to find out the correlation between students' attitudes and their demographic characteristics. The study involved 408 Serbian university students. The respondents were divided into three groups to determine the differences in attitudes between groups with different educational levels. We have used the Attitude Questionnaire and Demographic Questionnaire for this purpose. Medical students who had passed their exam in psychiatry, those who experienced psychological and psychiatric problems themselves, and those with a mentally ill family member had a positive attitude towards the mentally ill. Future health workers and the family members of mentally ill individuals are most important in the attempts to decrease stigmatization of psychiatric patients.

Lithium is the smallest monovalent cation with many different biological effects. Although lithium is present in the pharmacotherapy of psychiatric illnesses for decades, its precise mechanism of action is still not clarified. Today lithium represents first-line therapy for bipolar disorders (because it possesses both antimanic and antidepressant properties) and the adjunctive treatment for major depression (due to its antisuicidal effects). Beside, lithium showed some protective effects in neurological diseases including acute neural injury, chronic degenerative conditions, Alzheimer's disease as well as in treating leucopenia, hepatitis and some renal diseases. Recent evidence suggested that lithium also possesses some anticancer properties due to its inhibition of Glycogen Synthase Kinase 3 beta (GSK3β) which is included in the regulation of a lot of important cellular processes such as: glycogen metabolism, inflammation, immunomodulation, apoptosis, tissue injury, regeneration etc. : Although recent evidence suggested a potential utility of lithium in different conditions, its broader use in clinical practice still trails. The reason for this is a narrow therapeutic index of lithium, numerous toxic effects in various organ systems and some clinically relevant interactions with other drugs. Additionally, it is necessary to perform more preclinical as well as clinical studies in order to a precise therapeutic range of lithium, as well as its detailed mechanism of action. The aim of this review is to summarize the current knowledge concerning the pharmacological and toxicological effects of lithium.

Radiofrequency therapy is an unconventional method, already applied for some time, with numerous results in numerous clinical pictures. Our group has developed a software, later called SONGENPROT-SOLARIS, capable of directly converting nucleotide sequences (DNA and/or RNA) and amino acid sequences (polypeptides and proteins) into musical sequences, based on mathematic matrices, designed by the French physicist and musician Joel Sternheimer, which allows to associate a musical note with a nucleotide or an amino acid. Innovation in our software is that, in the algorithm that defines it, a variant is directly implemented that allows the reproduction of sounds, phase-shifted by 30 Hz, between one ear and another reproducing the phenomenon of Binaural Tones, capable of induce a specific brain activity and also the release of particles called solitons. Thanks to this software we have developed a technique called MMT (Molecular Music Therapy) and currently, we are in the phase of applying the technique on a cohort of 91 patients, with a high spectrum of clinical pictures, examining the same, using the technique Bi-Digital-ORing-Test (BDORT), before and after treatment with MMT. Aim of project is to stimulate the expression of a specific gene (the same genetic sequence that the patient listens to, translated into music), only through the use of sound sequences. We have concentrated our attention on three main molecules: Sirtuin-1, Telomers and TP-53. The results obtained with BDORT, after treatment with MMT, showed a significant increase in the values of the three molecules, on all the examined patients, demonstrating the operative efficacy of the technique and the its applicability to numerous diseases. In order to confirm the data obtained by BDORT, we propose, with the help of an accredited laboratory, to perform epigenetic tests on the three parameters listed above, paving the way to understanding how frequencies can influence gene expression.

The paper presents the procedure for selecting a scenario for the development of the logistics system in a company with a developed trading and logistics network, but also with the significant supply problems. In order to solve the existing logistics problems, but also to respond to future requirements and business plans, four logistics system development scenarios are defined. Each scenario has certain characteristics which can be seen as the advantages or disadvantages in the comparative analysis. Since the choice of development scenarios depends on several factors, their ranking in terms of different criteria requires the application of multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods. A hybrid model based on a combination of the fuzzy AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) and fuzzy VIKOR (Višekriterijumska Optimizacija i kompromisno Rešenje) methods was used to solve the problem.

Background/Aim. Although subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) is frequently a biochemical diagnosis, some symptoms and signs of overt disease may be present, influencing our decision to start the treatment with levothyroxine (LT4). The aim of this study was to examine the effect a 3- month LT4 treatment on clinical presentation and quality of life in symptomatic SCH with thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) < 10 mIU/L. We also considered whether treatment discontinuation additionally improves reliability of these findings. Methods. Clinical parameters (disease-specific score) and quality of life (Short Form-36 questionnaire) were measured in 35 patients with persistent symptomatic SCH (TSH 7.0 ? 2.1 mIU/L) before the intervention (LT4 substitution), 3 months after the euthyroid state had been achieved and 3 months after cessation of LT4 substitution. Results. The median of the Zulewski index significantly decreased after the treatment with LT4: 5.0 (4.0?7.0) vs. 3.0 (2.0?5.0) (p < 0.001) representing a reduction of symptoms. The most common ailments before the treatment were dry skin (71.4%), hoarseness (65.7%) and rough skin (54.3 %). After the treatment, there was a significant reduction in the frequency of constipation (p = 0.004), dry skin (p = 0.022), hoarseness (p = 0.002), decreased sweating (p = 0.006), and delayed Achilles reflex (p = 0.002). Quality of life was not changed significantly after LT4 treatment. In the group of 18 patients who discontinued the treatment, many symptoms and signs reappeared with the TSH increasing (6.8 ? 1.1 mIU/L): periorbital edema, constipation, weight gain, decreased sweating, slow motion and delayed Achilles reflex. The median of the ?ulewski index after discontinuation of LT4 was 6.0 (4.0?9.0) (p = 0.010). Also, there was a statistically significant reduction in the general health score, and vitality, role emotional and mental health scores. Conclusions. Clinical score, based on symptoms and signs, is a sensitive and reproducible test for objective estimation of LT4 treatment effects in symptomatic SCH patients with TSH

Dropout in higher education attracts great attention due to serious effects on an individual and on society. This is an exploratory study aimed at: analysing dropout measurement and tracking in the Serbian higher education, reviewing studies on dropout causes, and identifying available services and prevention measures. Various techniques are used to achieve these goals (statistics analysis, literature review, qualitative content analysis). Our results show that: 1. There are no accepted dropout definitions nor official statistics, but some rate estimate could be given; 2. Research is not systematic, but covers three major dropout factors (individual, socio-demographic, studying conditions); 3. Services are sporadic and not visible enough; 4. Legislation reveals state interest in promoting higher education, but implemented measures are not adequate enough. We see establishment of the Unified Education Information System as an important step in precise dropout measurement. There is a need for flexible studying routes and increased financial support orientated more towards vulnerable student groups. International studies highlight the importance of intensification of teacher-student and peer interaction built in modern student-centred teaching practice. At the end, we advocate creating a new educational policy by combining two major frameworks in this field and relying on inclusive research.

An increasing number of analyses have given proof that an effective financial system differs from an ineffective one in that it drives the long-term economic growth forward by allocating financial resources to more profitable investments. As a result, demands for financial sector reforms to increase its efficiency have intensified, in order to promote economic progress. Stable and efficient banking systems are an important component of every financial system. By reducing the efficiency of a country's banking or entire financial system, the ability to allocate resources for productive investment is reduced. The aim of the paper is to examine the importance and future possibilities of investment banking in the context of modern capital markets.

Introduction. Castleman's disease (CD) or angiofolicullar lymph node hyperplasia is a rare pathologic process characterized by non-neoplastic reactive proliferation of lymphoid tissue. Mimicking clinical and laboratory signs of infection, it could be a great diagnostic problem for an infectologist. Case report. We report a case of a 39-year old man who was initially clinically suspected to have an infectious central nervous system (CNS) affection, having most similar appearance to neurotuberculosis. Malignancy with bone metastases and lymphoma were also among many possible diagnoses. The patient was later histologically confirmed to have Castleman's disease, analyzing the enlarged inguinal lymph node, which was the key point in rejecting the suspicion of malignancy and tuberculosis. By further analyses, the patient was diagnosed to have mixed connective tissue disorder (MCTD). Vasculitis of mesencephalon and thalamus was detected by magnetic resonance imaging. Conclusion. CD with CNS involvement is very rare as well as CD with MCTD association, making this case even more unique. This case report underlines the importance of definitive histological diagnosis in patients with lymphadenopathia associated with systemic involvement and the need of additional immunological and radiological examinations, as well.

Compensation to the state by nature polluters has emerged as an expected response to people's growing awareness of the role of nature in its life. Of course, where this is possible and to the extent possible, work is being done to minimize pollution by applying various measures, and where this is not possible, taxes are being introduced. The funds collected by the tax on this basis should be spent to the same extent for the protection and restoration of the environment. Contemporary trade flows increasingly take place via foreign direct investment flows, consequently we can no longer analyze them only classically, and through the prism of the existing methodology and statistic coverage. Therefore, the purpose of the paper is to point out the need for the new approach to trade flows and their coverage. The research has led to the setting up of a proposal for the new trade coverage, which, by including the primary trading channel, complements the existing, classic approach to trade flows and leads to more realistic trade picture. Only a real picture of trade flows may be adequate guidance to the economic and trade policy makers of the country in conducting these policies and making adequate strategic trade decisions.

This paper showcases the necessity of a multidisciplinary approach to the examination of causes and effects of climate change, particularly the necessity of greater involvement of sociologists in the investigation of the causes and the offering of solutions to mitigate the effects. Accepting the view that present-day climate change is socially conditioned, the discussion relies on the assumption that climate change has indeed found its place in sociological research, only not to a sufficient extent. Based on the review of available literature, it was determined that the study of climate change was triggered by social ecologists and that climate change became a full-fledged subject of theoretical considerations and investigations into specific causes and effects. Since agriculture is one of the causes of climate change, the paper emphasizes the necessity of sociological research of the agricultural sector and its relation to climate change and proposes other potential research fields.

The role of the Government in the implementation of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) concept into the business policy in the field of recycling in the Republic of Serbia is analyzed in this paper, with a special overview of the End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling. The research has shown that quite different government approaches to these two independent waste streams are the most responsible for the differences in the amount of the recycled products in the analyzed period. The fact that the so-called self-regulatory CSR observed in the recycling of the used cars in the previous period caused a substantial reduction in the volume of official car recycling is pointed out herein. This indicates that, although car recycling is a financially profitable investment, it is not enough to motivate potential investors to carry out this process through official waste streams in compliance with regulations. On the other hand, in the field of e-product recycling, CSR facilitated by the government has further motivated investors, resulting in an increased amount of recycled e-products.

Introduction. Social participation is a critically important aspect of life in older adults. Also, it is one of the major subjects of research in the field of aging. Old age and its implications can have both positive and negative effects on social participation in the elderly population. Older oncology patients also face additional challenges in achieving active aging and full social participation. The goal of this study was to establish the prevalence and variety of social participation of oncology patients over the age of 60, as well as to determine any possible correlation between specific demographic characteristics and social participation. Material and Methods. The study included 100 persons aged 60 to 92 treated for malignant diseases. The Maastricht social participation profile and a demographic questionnaire designed for the purpose of this study were used as research instruments. Data analysis included the t-test for independent samples, correlation analysis, linear regression analysis, and one way analysis of variance. Results. Persons over the age of sixty have a low level of social participation, particularly in the domains of contacts with friends and family. A statistically significant difference was found in social participation in regard to different demographic characteristics: type of residence (t = 6.765, p < .01) and disability (t = 5.663, p < .01), and age (R = 0.478, p < .01). There were no statistically significant differences in regard to gender, education and presence/ absence of chronic disease. Conclusion. Oncology patients over the age of 60 have a very low social participation. Considering its importance for health and quality of life in the elderly, it is crucial to develop a support system for these persons and to recognize the significance of including social support in the care of this population.

The business sector has a strong direct and indirect impact on children, at the workplace, on the marketplace, in the community, and through the supply chain, where risks arise in terms of endangering children and their rights. This paper aims to provide new evidence of the impact of the business sector on children's rights in Serbia. The analysis of the impact of the Serbian business sector on children's rights was carried out through cabinet research of three sectors identified as a priority based on their influence on the economy and children's rights - ICT, food and agriculture, and financial sector. After interviews with managers responsible for corporate social responsibility in the leading companies from these sectors, their potential impact on children's rights has been mapped together with sectoral risks, while opportunities for shared-value engagement between businesses and organizations and institutions supporting children and their rights were extracted. Our research suggests that shared value in the context of the promotion of children's rights goes far beyond traditional corporate philanthropy, and audits how core business operations, assets and practices, advocacy initiatives, skills, and know-how can support children's rights in achieving Sustainable Development Goals.

Business - Abstract
The aim of the chapter was to model the impact of selected determinants (trade openness, human capital, entrepreneurship, and innovation) on regional competitiveness, as well as to propose future activities and measures required to be implemented to improve the competitive performance of the regions. The research was conducted on the sample of 18 regions in six European countries: Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, and Romania. The database was prepared, and the statistical processing was performed in SPSS. In this data analysis, the following methods were used: comparative analysis, correlation, and regression analysis. The results of the research showed that the impact of the determinants—import dependence, the number of pupils enrolled in secondary education, gross domestic expenditure on research and development, and the number of companies per 10,000 inhabitants on the competitiveness of the region—are (statistically) significant.
