Objective We compared outcomes and adverse events of thrombectomy versus medical management in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients with baseline large infarct core. Methods We searched Ovid MEDLINE(R) ALL, Cochrane Library Clinical Controlled Trials and EMBASE from inception to January 2021 for studies comparing thrombectomy and medical management alone in AIS patients who had ASPECTS =50 ml. Imaging modalities to valuate ASPECTS and core volume were without restriction. The functional outcome was measured by mRS (modified Rankin Scale) score 0-2 at 90 days or discharge. The safety end point included the rates of mortality and sICH (symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage) or PH2 (parenchymal hematoma type 2). Results Fourteen studies with a total of 2547 patients (thrombectomy n = [1197]; medical care alone [n = 1350]) fulfilled our criteria. As for patients with low ASPECTS, pooled results indicated a higher odds of good functional outcome (OR = 3.47; 95% CI 1.99 to 6.07; P 2=66%) and a lower risk of mortality (OR = 0.62; 95% CI 0.46 to 0.83; P = 0.001, I2=32%) in thrombectomy group compared with no thrombectomy group, but the risk of sICH or PH2 did not differ between two groups. As for patients with large core volume, both functional outcome and safety end point between two groups showed no statistically significant difference. Conclusion Thrombectomy remained safe and effective by careful selection in patients with low ASPECTS. More studies were warranted to explore contraindications for mechanical thrombectomy in AIS patients, especially in patients with large core volume.

In aeromagnetic surveys, poor aircraft heading and weather may frequently cause a classical optically-pumped sensor to enter into or close to its dead zone, which results in unavoidable outliers that seriously reduce aeromagnetic compensation. To address these problems, a method to identify rapidly and pre-cull magnetic outliers based on the gray system theory is proposed to reduce their negative influence during the estimation of coefficients and target detection robustness. By constructing a gray region of aeromagnetic data and then checking whether the data at the end points of the region are normal, aeromagnetic outliers can be culled. The simulation results show that even if the outlier rate is increased to 20%, the average of the correct culling rate of the proposed method can still reach 99.67%, at which the culling effect is highly robust. We constructed an experimental survey platform and conducted a flight test. The results show that the improvement ratio of the proposed method can reach 4.36, which is 10.38 times higher than the conventional method.

Objective: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the clinical significance of hyperdense area after thrombectomy in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Methods: We searched Ovid MEDLINE(R) and Epub Ahead of Print, In-Process and other Non-Indexed, Cochrane Library Clinical Controlled Trials and Embase from inception to September 2020 and collected the cohort and case-control studies about the clinical significance of hyperdense area on different types of computed tomography (CT) after thrombectomy in patients with AIS. Outcomes were poor functional outcome (modified Rankin Scale [mRS] Score 3–6 at discharge or 90-day), mortality and subtypes of hemorrhage according to the European Cooperative Acute Stroke Study (ECASS). Results: 1,999 patients from 16 studies were included in this meta-analysis. Pooled results indicated higher risk of symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage (odds ratio [OR] = 3.02; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.84–4.95; p < 0.0001, I2 = 0%) in patients with hyperdense area, and the subtype of parenchymal hematoma as well. There was also higher odds of poor functional outcome based on the mRS 3–6 at discharge or 90-day (OR = 1.92; 95% CI 1.35–2.73; p = 0.0003, I2 = 31%) and mortality (OR = 2.06; 95% CI 1.41–3.02; p = 0.0002, I2 = 0%) in patients with hyperdense area after thrombectomy compared with those without hyperdense area. Conclusions: Our results indicated that the presence of hyperdense area on CT after thrombectomy was associated with high risk of symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage, poor functional outcome, as well as mortality in patients with AIS. However, further studies were needed to confirm these results. The meta-analysis was conducted in adherence with the PRISMA Statement and was registered at the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (CRD42020164165). To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first meta-analysis investigating the effect of hyperdense area after endovascular therapy in patients with AIS.

The measurement while drilling (MWD) system in underground coal mine currently uses wire for signal transmission. However, it has shortcomings such as strict technical requirements for cable drill pipe processing and high cost of use. Electromagnetic measurement while drilling (EM-MWD) is a new technology has a high rate of information transmission with fast measurement speed and low cost and is not affected by the drilling media. Hence, it is necessary to investigate a reliable electromagnetic transmission channel which is suitable for underground coal mine. This study selects the excitation method through comparison and conducts theoretical research on this basis. Based on the classical electromagnetic theory, the equivalent transmission line method is adopted to calculate and analyze the channel characteristics, while the electrical properties of the coal seam and the surrounding rock are considered. The results demonstrate that the formation resistivity, drill pipe resistivity, and the emission frequency are the main factors affecting signal transmission. On the basis of the uniform equivalent transmission line model, the theoretical model is established by combining the segmented uniform transmission line theory. The layered equivalent transmission line model can be better used to evaluate the regional applicability of the EM-MWD system.

Reversible splenial lesion syndrome (RESLES) is a single-stage non-specific syndrome with unclear pathogenesis. There has been no report on answer delay in patients with RESLES. We report a female patient who was admitted to our department for mixed aphasia accompanied by cognitive impairment. During the rapid improvement of aphasia, there was a clear phase of language output response delay accompanied by resolution of imaging lesions. We analyzed the course and the examination results of the patient and speculated the cause and pathogenesis. RESLES-relevant knowledge was systematically reviewed, which will help doctors in the classification of cerebral function and the diagnosis of RESLES. The specific language and cognitive impairment may be associated with the damage of contact fibers in the bilateral primary and secondary sensory and motor cortices.

Introduction: White matter lesions (WMLs) are currently considered as a cerebral microvascular disease, and hypertension is considered as its most important risk factor. This study analysis systematically evaluated the effects of systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) on the progression of WMLs. Methods: We searched the MeSH terms: “white matter,” “blood pressure,” “hypertension,” “Leukoencephalopathy,” and “leukoaraiosis” on PubMed and Cochrane from January 2000 to August 2019. A total of 12 closely related literature were included for research. Results: The results of the meta-analysis showed that the increase of both SBP and DBP can promote the progression of WMLs (respectively, odds ratio [OR] = 2.90, 95% confidence interval [CI] 2.86–2.94; OR = 3.13, 95% CI 3.03–3.23). Subgroup analysis found that patients with hypertension aged younger than 70 years are at a greater risk of WML progression when their DBP increased (OR = 4.69, 95% CI 3.31–6.65). Conclusion: The relationship between DBP and WMLs is closer than that of SBP. Also, the risk of WML progression in patients aged under 70 years was higher than that in patients aged over 70 years. Furthermore, when DBP is elevated in patients younger than 70 years of age, the risk of WML progression may be higher. Therefore, it is expected that more researchers will attach importance to the change in DBP and identify the range of blood pressure and strategies that control DBP, thus contributing to delay the progression of WMLs.

The proton precession magnetometer (PPM) is always employed for geomagnetic observation, magnetic anomaly detection, etc., while the tuning performance of the PPM determines the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the free induction decay (FID) signal output from the sensing coil. A tuned circuit was always used for the PPM sensing coil because of its narrow-band characteristic and high sensitivity. However, the FID signals might be distorted by the narrow bandwidth, which influences the PPM’s measurement accuracy for the geomagnetic field. To address this problem, we propose a tuning-matching framework consisting of an adjustable tuning capacitor network (ATCN) in parallel with a $\pi $ -type LC band-pass filter (LCBF), dubbed ATCN-LCBF. The equivalent circuit of the ATCN-LCBF are investigated and the corresponding electrical parameters are theoretically calculated. Consequently, the proposed ATCN-LCBF is conducted with a bandwidth of 3500 Hz, a pass-band gain of 5 dB, and an average noise floor of 1.67 nV/Hz1/2. The field experimental results demonstrate that the ATCN-LCBF can not only enhance the strength of the FID signal but also suppress the external noises, improving the signal detection performance of the PPM in a scenario with strong interference.

Aiming to overcome the problem of the frequency error between the reference signal and the measured signal in an analog lock-in amplifier, this paper presented a digital lock-in amplifier (DLIA) with accurate frequency automatic tracking to improve its performance. In this paper, a modular design approach based on DSP Builder was employed to develop a quadrature vector type lock-in amplifier with automatic frequency tracking. A reference signal generator with high-frequency resolution and a digital filter with good performance were implemented. The performance of the design was tested by determining the linearity, the Q value, and the noise immunity of the DLIA. The experimental results showed that the proposed DLIA has good linearity and the Q value can reach up to 82. The relative errors of the signals with amplitudes greater than 10 mV were less than 1% when the equivalent input was a sine wave signal with a frequency of 1 kHz and an amplitude of 500 mV. When the superimposed noise was less than or equal to 400 mV, the relative error was less than 2% in the same condition. The proposed DLIA has higher precision and efficient noise immunity.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is reported to be vulnerable to transcription disruption due to transcriptional addiction. Cyclin-dependent kinase 9 (CDK9), which regulates transcriptional elongation, has attracted extensive attention as a drug target. Although several inhibitors, such as alvocidib and dinaciclib, have shown potent therapeutic effects in clinical trials on AML, the lack of high selectivity for CDK9 and other CDKs has limited their optimal clinical efficacy. Therefore, developing highly selective CDK9 inhibitors is still imperative for the efficacy and safety profile in treating AML. Here, we report a novel highly selective CDK9 inhibitor, JSH-009, which exhibited high potency against CDK9 and displayed great selectivity over 468 kinases/mutants. It also demonstrates impressive in vitro and in vivo antileukemic efficacy in preclinical models of AML, which makes JSH-009 a useful pharmacological tool for elucidating CDK9-mediated transcription and a novel therapeutic candidate for AML.

Objectives: This study aimed to explore the clinical value of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) in predicting moderate-to-severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD)/death, and to establish an effective clinical predictive nomogram.Methods: We retrospectively analyzed very low birth weight infants (VLBWs) with gestational age ≤ 32 weeks. The NT-proBNP values were determined on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th days after birth. The correlation between NT-proBNP level and moderate-to-severe BPD/death was evaluated. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to evaluate the prediction ability. Then, we used multivariable logistic regression to build the prediction model and nomogram, and calibration of the model was assessed by calibration curve.Results: In total, 556 VLBWs were involved, among whom 229 developed BPD (mild: n = 109; moderate: n = 68; severe: n = 52) and 18 died. The NT-proBNP level in the moderate-to-severe BPD/death group was significantly higher than that in the no-to-mild BPD group from the 3rd to 28th day (P < 0.001). When the natural logarithm of the serum NT-ProBNP level increased by 1 unit at day 7 (±2 days) of life, the risk of moderate and severe BPD/death was the highest (OR = 3.753; 95% CI: 2.984~4.720), and ROC analysis identified an optimal cutoff point of 3360 ng/L (sensitivity: 80.0%; specificity: 86.2%; AUC: 0.861). After adjusting for confounding factors, the level of NT-proBNP at day 7 (±2 days) of life still had important predictive value for the development of moderate-to-severe BPD/death, significantly improving the predictive ability of the model.Conclusion: The level of NT-proBNP at day 7 (±2 days) of life can be used as an early promising biomarker for VLBWs to develop moderate-to-severe BPD/death. We constructed an early predictive nomogram to help clinicians identify high-risk populations.

Chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell therapy has achieved remarkable clinical efficacy in treatment of many malignancies especially for B-cell hematologic malignancies. However, the application of CAR-T cells is hampered by potentially adverse events, of which cytokine release syndrome (CRS) is one of the severest and the most studied. Local cytokine-release syndrome (L-CRS) at particular parts of the body has been reported once in a while in B-cell lymphoma or other compartmental tumors. The underlying mechanism of L-CRS is not well understood and the existing reports attempting to illustrate it only involve compartmental tumors, some of which even indicated L-CRS only happens in compartmental tumors. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is systemic and our center treated a B-cell ALL patient who exhibited life threatening dyspnea, L-CRS was under suspicion and the patient was successfully rescued with treatment algorithm of CRS. The case is the firstly reported L-CRS related to systemic malignancies and we tentatively propose a model to illustrate the occurrence and development of L-CRS of systemic malignancies inspired by the case and literature, with emphasis on the new recognition of L-CRS.

Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a lethal malignancy lacking effective treatment. The Cyclin-dependent kinases 4/6 (CDK4/6) and PI3K/AKT signal pathways play pivotal roles in carcinogenesis and are promising therapeutic targets for HCC. Here we identified a new CDK4/6 and PI3K/AKT multi-kinase inhibitor for the treatment of HCC.Methods:Using a repurposing and ensemble docking methodology, we screened a library of worldwide approved drugs to identify candidate CDK4/6 inhibitors. By MTT, apoptosis, and flow cytometry analysis, we investigated the effects of candidate drug in reducing cell-viability,inducing apoptosis, and causing cell-cycle arrest. The drug combination and thermal proteomic profiling (TPP) method were used to investigate whether the candidate drug produced antagonistic effect. Thein vivoanti-cancer effect was performed in BALB/C nude mice subcutaneously xenografted with Huh7 cells.Results:We demonstrated for the first time that the anti-plasmodium drug aminoquinol is a new CDK4/6 and PI3K/AKT inhibitor. Aminoquinol significantly decreased cell viability, induced apoptosis, increased the percentage of cells in G1 phase. Drug combination screening indicated that aminoquinol could produce antagonistic effect with the PI3K inhibitor LY294002. TPP analysis confirmed that aminoquinol significantly stabilized CDK4, CDK6, PI3K and AKT proteins. Finally,in vivostudy in Huh7 cells xenografted nude mice demonstrated that aminoquinol exhibited strong anti-tumor activity, comparable to that of the leading cancer drug 5-fluorouracil with the combination treatment showed the highest therapeutic effect.Conclusion:The present study indicates for the first time the discovery of a new CDK4/6 and PI3K/AKT multi-kinase inhibitor aminoquinol. It could be used alone or as a combination therapeutic strategy for the treatment of HCC.

BACKGROUND: The neonatal period, especially postnatal day 10 (P10), is important for mouse retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) development, and an effective labeling technique to track neonatal RGCs is needed. Retrograde fluorogold (FG) labeling is widely used for adult mouse RGCs, but its applicability for the neonatal mouse is still unknown. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficiency of retrograde FG labeling in P10 mice. METHODS: The anatomic location of the superior colliculus (SC) of P10 wild-type C57/BL6J mice was clarified by histological brain section and hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. Three doses of 3% FG were injected into the SC of 30 mice, and 3 days post-surgery, labeling efficiency was quantified by retinal flat-mounts, and labeling safety was evaluated by mice mortality. RESULTS: Samples of brain tissue from 2–3.5 mm posterior to the bregma, and from 0.5–2.0 mm lateral to the midline showed major SC-related structures. The FG-positive RGC density in the 0.3 µL group was 3,563.9±311.9 cells/mm(2), significantly more than in the 0.6 µL group (1,718.6±177.1 cells/mm(2)) or 1.0 µL group (2,496.8±342.2 cells/mm(2)). The mortality rate was 10% in both the 0.3 and 0.6 µL groups, but 40% in the 1.0 µL group. CONCLUSIONS: The appropriate labeling site in P10 mice was confirmed and 0.3 µL FG is an appropriate dose for retrograde labeling of RGCs.

Development of resistance to therapy in ovarian cancer is a major hinderance for therapeutic efficacy, however, new mechanisms of the resistance remain to be elucidated. NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX4) is responsible for higher NADPH activity to increase reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. In this study, we showed that higher levels of NOX4 were detected in a large portion of human ovarian cancer samples. To understand the molecular mechanism of the NOX4 upregulation, we showed that NOX4 expression was induced by HIF-1α and growth factor such as IGF-1. Furthermore, our results indicated that NOX4 played a pivotal role in chemotherapy and radiotherapy resistance in ovarian cancer cells. We also demonstrated that NOX4 knockdown increased sensitivity of targeted therapy and radiotherapy through decreased expression of HER3 (ERBB3) and NF-κB p65. Taken together, we identified a new HIF-1α/NOX4 signal pathway which induced drug and radiation resistance in ovarian cancer. The finding may provide a new option to overcome the therapeutic resistance of ovarian cancer in the future.

Unlike other satellite navigation systems such as GPS (Global Positioning System), the BeiDou satellite navigation system broadcasts RDSS (Radio Determination Satellite Service) and RNSS (Radio Navigation Satellite Service) signals simultaneously on its GEO (geostationary earth orbit) satellites and provides related navigation services. This paper studies the method of using the RDSS and RNSS signals of BeiDou to achieve accurate frequency and time transmission. We analyze the generation mechanism of RDSS signal and RNSS signal of BeiDou GEO satellite, establish a mathematical model of RDSS and RNSS signal frequency transfer, and derive an equation based on BeiDou’s RDSS and RNSS signals for accurate frequency and time transmission. We also verified the relevant performance of the method through computer simulation. The results show that the combination of RDSS and RNSS signals from the BeiDou satellite system provides a new solution for its application in precise time and frequency transmission. This method is different from other satellite navigation systems such as GPS and is unique to the BeiDou system, with high accuracy and low dependence on satellite orbit accuracy.

This paper proposes a single-source switched-capacitor multilevel inverter for magnetic coupling wireless power transfer (MC-WPT) systems. The proposed inverter consists of one DC source, two half bridges, and novel extensible I-type switched-capacitor modules. It can generate a staircase waveform voltage with higher amplitude and lower total harmonic distortion, and the voltage stress of all power switches is equal to the DC input voltage, so high output power can be obtained by power switches with low voltage capacity. Compared with the existing multilevel inverters, the proposed inverter requires a less number of power switches and energy storage components to generate the same number of voltage levels, which means better voltage boost ability. Moreover, it can achieve self-voltage balancing of switched capacitors easily without balancing circuit or control algorithm. The topology, operating principle, output voltage, and self-voltage balancing ability of the proposed inverter are analyzed, and the comparison with the existing multilevel inverters is presented. The modulation strategy and value of the switched capacitor are designed, and the soft switching state and power loss are analyzed and calculated. Finally, an experimental setup of a 1-kW MC-WPT system is implemented to verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the feasibility and superiority of the proposed inverter.

BACKGROUND Our previous research revealed that membrane type 1-matrix metalloproteinase (MT1-MMP) is overexpressed and plays a crucial role in gastric cancer (GC) progression. Exosomes are important for GC carcinogenesis, and the exosomal contents are ideal biomarkers. However, the expression of exosomal MT1-MMP mRNA in serum and its potential significance in GC remains unclear. MATERIAL AND METHODS The expression of exosomal MT1-MMP mRNA in serum of patients with GC, chronic gastritis, or atypical hyperplasia, and healthy controls was detected using real-time quantitative RT-PCR. We investigated the efficacy of the immunosuppressants rapamycin (RAP) and dexamethasone (DEX) in improving the survival of retinal organoids after epiretinal transplantation. We first compared the immunosuppressive abilities of DEX and RAP in activated microglia in an in vitro setting. Following this, we used immunofluorescence, real-time polymerase chain reaction, and flow cytometry to investigate the effects of DEX and RAP on cells in the retinal organoids. Retinal organoids were then seeded onto poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid (PLGA) scaffolds and implanted into rhesus monkey eyes (including a healthy individual and three monkeys with chronic ocular hypertension (OHT) induction) and subjected to different post-operative immunosuppressant treatments; 8 weeks after the experiment, histological examinations were carried out to assess the success of the different treatments. Our in vitro experiments indicated that both DEX and RAP treatments were equally effective in suppressing microglial activity. Although both immunosuppressants altered the morphologies of cells in the retinal organoids and caused a slight decrease in the differentiation of cells into retinal ganglion cells, the organoid cells retained their capacity to grow and differentiate into retinal tissues. Our in vivo experiments indicate that the retinal organoid can survive and differentiate into retinal tissues in a healthy rhesus monkey eye without immunosuppressive treatment. However, the survival and differentiation of these organoids in OHT eyes was successful only with the DEX treatment. RAP treatment was ineffective in preventing immunological rejection, and the retinal organoid failed to survive until the end of 8 weeks. DEX is likely a promising immunosuppressant to enhance the survival of epiretinal implants.

To date, high-precision time synchronisation has been applied in many fields, such as high-precision indoor positioning, multistatic Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and etc. This study focuses on the use of only global positioning system (GPS) L1 civilian signals to achieve regional nanosecond time synchronisation. GPS errors are analysed in this study to determine their effect on GPS timing. This study also examines the specific features of the error in fixed-position timing technology and related error reduction techniques to illustrate the feasibility of nanosecond high-precision time synchronisation with GPS L1 signals in a fixed-position timing mode. Then, the results of a specific GPS timing receiver working in a fixed-position mode and using GPS L1 signals are shown to indicate that the use of GPS L1 signals to achieve nanosecond-accuracy time synchronisation in a local area is feasible. Finally, this study also analyses the impacts of the imprecise position in a fixed-position timing mode.

A hospital building features a number of different functional areas. The equipment and systems that serve the building and its medical needs are complex and require various forms of energy, including electricity, gas, steam, hot water and chilled water. Domestic and foreign research data show that the energy consumption per unit area of hospital buildings is twice that of general public buildings. This article selects a typical comprehensive hospital in the hot summer and cold winter area as a case, analyzes the actual energy demand of the hospital building through the measured data, and puts forward reasonable suggestions on the energy consumption mode and system improvement plan of the hospital in combination with the operating conditions.

Retrofitting of existing buildings plays a critical role to achieve sustainable development. This is considered as one of approaches to achieving sustainability in the built environment. In order to evaluate energy consumption of the existing building which had transformed into green building, this article takes the green office building as an example, which located in the summer hot and cold winter zone in China. Collecting the building energy consumption from 2014 to 2016, analyzing energy saving effects by comparing with the standard for energy consumption of building (GB/T 51161-2016) and other cases. Results showed that energy consumption of the case building decreased from 728 MWh to 633 MWh year by year. According to the correction formula in the standard, the corrected value Eoc=72.12 kWh/ (m2·a) is lower than upper limit (85 kWh/ (m2·a)) but higher than target value (70 kWh/ (m2·a)). Therefore, there is large energy conservation potential in air conditioning system and lighting. By comparing with the energy consumption of green commercial buildings in other countries, the result indicates the energy consumption is one-third of the foreign green commercial buildings.the paper provides a reference for the actual operation energy consumption of retrofitting of existing buildings in this area.

To investigate the predictors of long-term intraocular pressure (IOP) in chronic primary angle-closure glaucoma (CPACG) treated with primary trabeculectomy. This study systematically reviewed cases of CPACG treated with primary trabeculectomy. The scleral flaps in all cases were sutured with two stitches in situ and two releasable sutures to ensure watertight under normal IOP conditions during surgery. Mitomycin C was used in all eyes. All patients were followed for 2 years. Digital massage of the bulbus and removal of the releasable suture were performed according to the IOP and shape of the filtering bleb. Demographic data and clinical outcomes were recorded. Factors predicting long-term IOP were identified. A total of 72 patients (88 eyes) with a mean age of 58.51 ± 10.60 years were included in this study. The complete success rate was 89.77% after 2 years. The IOP began to stabilize after 7 days and reached its lowest point at the 1-month follow-up. The preoperative and early postoperative high or low IOP does not affect long-term effects (P > 0.05). Importance:Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a preventable cause of blindness in children. Without treatment, more than 45% of eyes may suffer permanent vision loss. Current ROP screening guidelines, which include a range of birth weights (BWs) and gestational ages (GAs), may require screening many low-risk preemies who might develop severe ROP.Method:All high-risk infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from 2017 to 2021 were included in this retrospective cohort study. Each of the 27 candidate risk factors was evaluated in univariate analysis and adjusted for known risk factors (i.e., GA and BW). The significant results were analyzed in a backward selection multivariate logistic regression model. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and a nomogram were drawn.Results:The study included 2,040 infants who underwent ROP screening. The weight gain rate [OR, 2.65; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.49–1.21 ≤ 12 g/d vs. > 18 g/d;P= 0.001], blood transfusion (OR, 2.03; 95% CI, 1.14–3.64;P= 0.017), invasive mechanical ventilation (OR, 1.74; 95% CI, 1.15–2.66;P= 0.009) and N-terminal segment of pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) ≥ 25,000 ng/L (OR, 1.51; 95% CI, 1.00–2.28;P= 0.048) were four new statistically independent risk factors in addition to GA and BW. The area under the curve (AUC) of the final multivariate model was 0.90 (95% CI, 0.88–0.92;P< 0.001).Conclusions and Relevance:These findings add to our understanding of ROP screening because they include all eligible infants rather than only high-risk infants, as in previous studies. Under the control of BW and GA, low weight gain rate, increased number of blood transfusion, invasive mechanical ventilation and NT-proBNP ≥ 25,000 ng/L were “new” statistically independent risk factors for ROP. The ROP risk can be calculated manually or represented by a nomogram for clinical use.

In this Note, we develop a real-time magnetic field imaging system by employing a multi-magneto-inductive (MI) sensor array. The sensor array consists of 3 × 3 tri-axial MI sensors, which we constructed by using three sensor coils. Outputs from several rows of sensors are routed to a master-controller responsible for data pre-processing and data reconstruction. The data are streamed to a host computer via a universal serial bus interface, and the image can be generated and displayed at a rate of several frames per second. The magnetic field imaging is implemented on a knowledge of the MI sensors' response, magnetic field perturbations, and the nature of the ferromagnetic object respecting permeability and conductivity. The performance of the system has been further evaluated by extensive numerical modeling of magnetic field distribution patterns with partial differential equation solution. The proposed magnetic field imaging system can be employed in many potential applications, for instance, medicine, security screening, quality assurance, and other areas of nondestructive evaluation, designs associated with magnetic fields, teaching, and research.

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most frequently diagnosed types of cancer worldwide, and exploring its potential therapeutic targets is particularly important for improving the prognosis of patients with GC. The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between serine/threonine kinase 17a (STK17A) expression and GC prognosis. STK17A expression was measured by quantitative real‑time PCR, western blotting and immunohistochemical staining. Standard stable transfection technology was also used to construct overexpression and knockdown cell lines. Wound healing, Transwell, Cell Counting Kit‑8 and colony formation assays, as well as other methods, were used to explore the function and underlying molecular mechanism of STK17A in GC. The results indicated that STK17A overexpression significantly promoted the proliferation and migration of GC cells. The clinical significance of STK17A in a cohort of 102 cases of GC was assessed by clinical correlation and Kaplan‑Meier analyses. Objective A variety of circadian patterns of blood pressure after ischemic stroke in patients with essential hypertension appear to be a potential risk of stroke recurrence, but the mechanism is still unclear. This study intends to reveal the changes in blood pressure rhythm and circadian clock protein expression levels in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) after ischemia-reperfusion, and the relationship between the two. Methods Using the SHR middle cerebral artery occlusion experimental model, the systolic blood pressure was continuously monitored for 24 hours after the operation to observe the blood pressure rhythm. The rat tail vein blood was taken every 3h, and the serum CLOCK, BMAL1, PER1 and CRY1 protein expression levels were detected by Elisa. Pearson correlation analysis counted the relationship between SHR blood pressure rhythm and circadian clock protein fluctuation after ischemia-reperfusion. Results The proportion of abnormal blood pressure patterns in the SHR + tMCAO group was significantly higher than that in the SHR group, the serum CLOCK expression was relatively constant, and the circadian rhythm of BMAL1, PER1 and CRY1 protein expression changed significantly. Pearson analysis showed that PER1 protein level was negatively correlated with dipper (r = -0.565, P = 0.002) and extreme-dipper (r = -0.531, P = 0.001) blood pressure, and was significantly positively correlated with non-dipper blood pressure (r = 0.620, P

Background The medical consortium is an intensive and disease-specific association that integrates tertiary public hospitals and medical examination centers in China. We aimed to evaluate the feasibility of the medical consortium for screening upper gastrointestinal (GI) cancers (MCSC) by magnetically controlled capsule gastroscopy (MCCG). Methods 6627 asymptomatic subjects underwent MCCG as part of health check-ups in the MCSC between March and November 2018. Relevant clinical data were collected and analyzed. Results The MCSC detected 32 patients with upper GI cancer (0.48 %) confirmed by pathology. The detection rate of early gastric cancer was 16.67 % (4 /24). Gastric polyps, ulcers, and submucosal tumors were found in 15.54 %, 3.76 %, and 3.17 % of subjects, respectively. The whole GI preparation and operation process were well tolerated. Conclusions The MCSC was a feasible model for upper GI cancer screening, especially for asymptomatic subjects. Further prospective studies with better operational quality control are warranted.

Objective: Obtaining vascular access during out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is challenging. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of prehospital intraosseous infusion (IO) combined with in-hospital intravenous (IV) (pre-IO + in-IV) access versus the simple IV (pre-IV + in-IV) access in adult OHCA patients who do not achieve prehospital return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). Methods: This retrospective observational study included adults with OHCA of presumed cardiac etiology between October 1, 2017-October 1, 2020 at an academic emergency department in China. All of the OHCA patients included within the study had Emergency Medical Services cardiopulmonary resuscitation and received prehospital epinephrine administration, but did not achieve prehospital ROSC. The study population were classified as either pre-IO + in-IV or IV (pre-IV + in-IV) based on their epinephrine administration route. The prehospital epinephrine routes were the first and only attempted route. The primary outcome investigated was sustained ROSC following arrival at the emergency department. The secondary outcome considered was the time from dispatch to the first epinephrine dose. Results: Of 193 included adult OHCA subjects who did not have prehospital ROSC, 128 received IV access only. The 65 pre-IO + in-IV-treated patients received epinephrine faster compared to IV-treated patients in terms of the median time from dispatch to the first injection of epinephrine (14.5 vs. 16.0 min, P = 0.001). In the pre-IO + in-IV group, 34 of 65 patients (52.3%) achieved sustained ROSC compared with 65 of 128 (50.8%) patients in the IV group (χ2 = 0.031, P = 0.841). There was no significant difference in sustained ROSC (adjusted OR1.049, 95% CI: 0.425-2.591, P = 0.918) between the two groups. Conclusion: A similar sustained ROSC rate was achieved for both the pre-IO + in-IV access group and the simple IV access group. Our results suggested that an IV route should be established quickly for prehospital IO-treated OHCA patients who do not achieve prehospital ROSC.

PurposeWhite matter damage (WMD) was defined as the appearance of rough and uneven echo enhancement in the white matter around the ventricle. The aim of this study was to develop and validate a risk prediction model for neonatal WMD.Materials and MethodsWe collected data for 1,733 infants hospitalized at the Department of Neonatology at The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from 2017 to 2020. Infants were randomly assigned to training (n= 1,216) or validation (n= 517) cohorts at a ratio of 7:3. Multivariate logistic regression and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression analyses were used to establish a risk prediction model and web-based risk calculator based on the training cohort data. The predictive accuracy of the model was verified in the validation cohort.ResultsWe identified four variables as independent risk factors for brain WMD in neonates by multivariate logistic regression and LASSO analysis, including gestational age, fetal distress, prelabor rupture of membranes, and use of corticosteroids. These were used to establish a risk prediction nomogram and web-based calculator (https://caowenjun.shinyapps.io/dynnomapp/). The C-index of the training and validation sets was 0.898 (95% confidence interval: 0.8745–0.9215) and 0.887 (95% confidence interval: 0.8478–0.9262), respectively. Decision tree analysis showed that the model was highly effective in the threshold range of 1–61%. The sensitivity and specificity of the model were 82.5 and 81.7%, respectively, and the cutoff value was 0.099.ConclusionThis is the first study describing the use of a nomogram and web-based calculator to predict the risk of WMD in neonates. The web-based calculator increases the applicability of the predictive model and is a convenient tool for doctors at primary hospitals and outpatient clinics, family doctors, and even parents to identify high-risk births early on and implementing appropriate interventions while avoiding excessive treatment of low-risk patients.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T-cell is a safe and effective therapy of B-cell cancers but it is unknown if this is so in persons with prior hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. We studied 70 subjects with advanced B-cell cancers receiving CAR-T-cell therapy, 12 of whom had chronic HBV-infection (HBsAg positive) and 29 with resolved HBV-infection (HBsAg negative and anti-HBc positive). Safety and efficacy were compared with 29 subjects without HBV-infection. HBV was reactivated in 2 subjects with chronic HBV-infection and 1 with resolved HBV-infection. There was no HBV-related hepatitis flare. Responses to CAR-T-cell therapy in the three cohorts were not significantly different. There was no significant difference in the incidence or severity of cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and neurologic toxicity between the cohorts. Our data suggest that chronic and resolved HBV-infection do not affect the safety and efficacy of CAR-T-cell therapy.

Currently, ODP and ODP-M pathogenesis remain unknown although many hypotheses exist about their clinical features. In this study, we report a case of new ODP-M detected after surgical iridectomy in a patient with primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) with a preoperative normal retina and optic nerve. Fine optic disc and the macular area structures were investigated using several imaging techniques. Findings revealed that the course of ODP and ODP-M provide us with some insights and understanding of their underlying pathogenesis.

The traditional houses in Jiangnan, South China are mainly wooden structures and are quite abundant. However, economic and social development and improvement in people's living standards now mean that these houses, with their low thermal comfort and high energy use, no longer meet the needs of modern society. This research explored commonly used energy-saving retrofit technologies that could be adopted for traditional Jiangnan wooden houses. An evaluation model for suitable and energy-saving retrofit technology was established for these houses based on the three indicators of “energy-saving effect, economics and protection of traditional cultural values”. This paper examines a typical case of a traditional Jiangnan wooden house, analyses the suitability of different retrofit technologies and puts forward a list of priority retrofit technologies for traditional Jiangnan wooden houses with a “日” plane layout. The goal of this research is to provide technical support for the implementation of energy-saving measures for traditional Jiangnan wooden houses and to promote sustainable development of traditional Chinese houses.

Lijiang Exoplanet Tracker (LijET) was designed to detect exoplanets with extremely high precision radial velocity (RV) measurements, and it was mounted on 2.4m telescope at Lijiang Observatory in 2011. The Dispersed Fixed- Delay Interferometry (DFDI) mode of LiJET is a combination of a thermally compensated monolithic michelson interferometer and a cross-dispersed echelle spectrograph. When the slit width is 1.6”, the spectral resolution is 18000. With a 4k x 4k CCD, the spectrograph has wavelength coverage of 390nm-690nm. The temperature stability of the instrument is 25±0.001°C, and the pressure stability of the instrument is 10.9±0.001psi. LiJET realize high precision RV measurements by measuring the phase shifts of fringes in the slit direction. Differential RV is a function of light speed, phase shift, wavelength and optical delay. Thus, optical delay is necessary to be determined accurately to take differential RV measurements to derive precise RV. We used thorium argon (ThAr) and tungsten lamp to calibration the DFDI spectrum of LiJET, and then to calculate the optical delay at different channels on the CCD detector.

The hot summer and cold winter zone in China plays a crucial part in both the population and economy of the nation. Such zone is characterized as hot and stuffy in summer, while cold and wet in winter. Due to such hostile climate conditions, many existing buildings in such zone suffer from poor thermal performance either in the envelope or indoor environment. With the advance of the social economy, there is an increasing demand for improving the indoor thermal environment . Hence an energy-efficient and low-cost retrofit of these buildings has become a priority in such zone. Due to the enormous types of buildings in this zone, it becomes highly important to identify standard buildings for each type, as to offer guidance for designing proper retrofit strategies correspondingly. To achieve that, this study develops a performance index system (PIS) based on architectural typology, demonstrated though examples of residential buildings. The PIS consists of construction year, plane form, floor area, building orientation, number of floors, building structure and the types of cold and heat sources. Three hundred and four residential buildings in an administrative region of Hangzhou were selected to collect relevant data of the index system. Through correlation and cluster analysis, the classification indexes of these residential buildings are calculated based on the influence of each performance index on the electricity energy consumption throughout the year, and six types of buildings are finally refined as representative standard types. The methodology of standard building selection through PIS proposed in this study is not restricted to residential buildings, and thus provides an efficient methodological support for the classification and retrofit of many types of existing buildings in the hot summer and cold winter zone in China.

Background The optimal treatment for polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) is still under debate. Little knowledge is known about the treatment effect of “1+pro re nata(PRN)” treatment regimen for PCV. The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of photodynamic therapy (PDT), intravitreal ranibizumab injection (IVR) and combination therapy under the “1 + PRN” treatment regimen for PCV. Methods Fifty-seven eyes of 57 patients completed the 12 months’ follow-up in this prospective study. The patients in the PDT arm(n = 23), ranibizumab arm(n = 18), or combination arm(n = 16) underwent a session of PDT, IVR or combination of both at baseline followed by additional IVR as needed. Mean change of logarithm of the minimal angle of resolution (logMAR) visual acuity (VA), central foveal thickness (CFT) and the regression rate of polyps were evaluated. Cost-benefit analysis was also performed. Results At Month 12, the mean logMAR VA improved from 0.90 ± 0.52 to 0.75 ± 0.57 in the PDT group (P 0.05). Resonant cavity is an important component of Overhauser magnetometer sensor. Its function is to make the working substance generate dynamic nuclear polarization effect in the sensor. An alternative design of resonant cavity based on the birdcage coil structure is proposed to make the resonant frequency in accordance with the polarization frequency of the working substance. The structure and equivalent circuit of resonant cavity are analyzed. The model of resonant cavity is established, and S-parameter is calculated. The simulating results show that resonant frequency of the resonant cavity is about 60 MHz, which is consistent with the polarization frequency of the working substance in the sensor, and Q-factor of the resonant cavity is about 90. A dual-coil structure for pick-up coil and series resonant circuit are designed for reducing interference. In addition, output signal experiment and simultaneous comparison testing of sensor prototype are conducted. Overall, this design has the advantages of high performance and strong anti-interference. The resolution, uncertainty, and range of the sensor reach to 0.005 nT, 0.2 nT, and 20 000–100 000 nT, respectively.

Passive residual heat removal (PRHR) system is a very important component of the passive safety systems in advanced passive safety pressurizer water reactors (PWRs) such as AP1000. The passive residual heat removal heat exchanger (PRHR HX) is a C-shape tube bundle heat exchanger immerged in the In-containment refueling water storage tank (IRWST) which removes the core decay heat during the accident transients. The performance of the PRHR HX is significant for the safety of the nuclear power plant (NPP). In this paper, the thermal hydraulics characteristics of the PRHR HX in the IRWST is analyzed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The tube region is modeled by the porous media approach along with the distributed resistance method. Heat transfer from the primary side fluid inside the tube to the secondary side fluid in the IRWST is considered. The simulation is carried out by the commercial CFD package FLUENT. The calculation of the flow resistance and heat transfer in the tube region is implemented using the User Defined Functions (UDF) in FLUENT based on the local flow conditions. Three dimensional distributions of the fluid velocity and temperature in the IRWST are obtained and thermal stratification is observed. The PRHR HX heat transfer capacity and the primary side fluid temperature distribution inside tubes are analyzed.

Background. To develop an effective surgical procedure for cellular scaffold epiretinal implantation in rhesus, facilitating subsequent epiretinal stem cell transplantation. Methods. Retinal progenitors were seeded onto a poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid (PLGA) scaffold. First, the cellular scaffolds were delivered by 18G catheter or retinal forceps into rabbit epiretinal space (n=50). Then, the cell survival rate was evaluated by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8). Second, three methods of scaffold fixation, including adhesion after gas-liquid exchange (n=1), tamponade by hydrogel (n=1), and fixation by retinal tacks (n=4), were performed in rhesus monkeys. After one month, fundus photography and SD-OCT were performed to assess the outcomes, and histological examination was performed to evaluate proliferation. Results. The cell survival rate was significantly higher in the catheter group. Follow-up examination showed that retinal tack fixation was the only method to maintain the scaffolds attached to host retina for at least 3 weeks, which is the minimal time required for cell integration. Histological staining demonstrated slight glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) accumulation in the retinal tack insertion area. Conclusions. The established surgical procedure offers a new insight into research of epiretinal cell replacement therapy in rhesus eyes. The successful delivery and long-term fixation provide a prerequisite for cell migration and integration.

Vascular endothelial growth factor down-regulates microRNA-1 (miR-1) in the lung endothelium, and endothelial cells play a critical role in tumor progression and angiogenesis.To examine the clinical significance of miR-1 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and its specific role in tumor endothelium.miR-1 levels were measured by Taqman assay. Endothelial cells were isolated by magnetic sorting. We used vascular endothelial cadherin promoter to create a vascular-specific miR-1 lentiviral vector and an inducible transgenic mouse. KRASIn two cohorts of patients with NSCLC, miR-1 levels were lower in tumors than the cancer-free tissue. Tumor miR-1 levels correlated with the overall survival of patients with NSCLC. miR-1 levels were also lower in endothelial cells isolated from NSCLC tumors and tumor-bearing lungs of KP mouse model. We examined the significance of lower miR-1 levels by testing the effects of vascular-specific miR-1 overexpression. Vector-mediated delivery or transgenic overexpression of miR-1 in endothelial cells decreased tumor burden in KP mice, reduced the growth and vascularity of Lewis lung carcinoma xenografts, and decreased tracheal angiogenesis in vascular endothelial growth factor transgenic mice. In endothelial cells, miR-1 level was regulated through phosphoinositide 3-kinase and specifically controlled proliferation, de novo DNA synthesis, and ERK1/2 activation. Myeloproliferative leukemia oncogene was targeted by miR-1 in the lung endothelium and regulated tumor growth and angiogenesis.Endothelial miR-1 is down-regulated in NSCLC tumors and controls tumor progression and angiogenesis.

An automatic wideband 90° phase shifter for optically pumped cesium magnetometer has been investigated experimentally. As an important part of the self-oscillating optically pumped cesium magnetometer detecting circuit, the band and automation of the phase shifter directly affect the continuous measurement of the magnetic field. At the same time, a phase deviation of 1° will cause 1 Hz change of the resonant frequency. In order to meet the continuous measurement of the geomagnetic field, an automatic wideband 90° phase shifter based on the all-pass filter has been designed. It can be used to precisely make the phase of the detected signal shifted by 90° in a wide range of frequencies from 50 to 350 kHz. Through the actual test and analysis, the phase shift error of the automatic phase shifter is less than 0.1°, and the relative error less than 0.1%. It has been proved the feasibility of the automatic wideband 90° phase shifter applied to the cesium optically pumped magnetometer.

The ITER radial X-ray camera (RXC), which is installed in the middle diagnostics shield module (DSM) of equatorial port plug 12, is an important piece of diagnostic equipment in the tokamak system. A cooling circle is vital for RXC detectors because it can protect them from being damaged during the DSM baking phase when the temperature reaches 240 (±10)°C. Helium is used as a cooling medium in this cooling circle owing to its low activation and good heat exchange with copper. To increase the gas resistance and expand the heat transfer area, a labyrinth structure is introduced into the internal structural design of a heat exchanger. In this paper, an analysis of the heat load of the RXC and its cooling circle is presented, along with the thermal simulation and test results. Thermal simulation results indicate that the cooling circle design can meet the requirements. A test platform is built to validate the cooling circle design. The experimental results are presented, and the problems encountered during the testing are analyzed. The test results indicate that the maximum temperature of the detector is lower than 65 °C with the cooling circle during the platform baking phase, which is lower than the detector operation temperature limit of 75 °C.

As the fastest growing food production sector in the world, aquaculture may become an important source of nitrous oxide (N2O)—a potent greenhouse gas and the dominant source of ozone-depleting substances in the stratosphere. China is the largest aquaculture producer globally; however, the magnitude of N2O emission from Chinese aquaculture systems (CASs) has not yet been extensively investigated. Here, we quantified N2O emission from the CASs since the Reform and Opening-up (1979–2019) at the species-, provincial-, and national-levels using annual aquaculture production data, based on nitrogen (N) levels in feed type, feed amount, feed conversion ratio, and emission factor (EF). Our estimate indicates that over the past 41 years, N2O emission from CASs has increased approximately 25 times from 0.67 ± 0.04 GgN in 1979 to 16.69 ± 0.31 GgN in 2019. Freshwater fish farming, primarily in two provinces, namely, Guangdong and Hubei, where intensive freshwater fish farming has been adopted in the past decades, accounted for approximately 89% of this emission increase. We also calculated the EF for each species, ranging from 0.79 ± 0.23 g N2O kg−1 animal to 2.41 ± 0.14 g N2O kg−1 animal. The results of this study suggest that selecting low-EF species and improving feed use efficiency can help reduce aquaculture N2O emission for building a climate-resilient sustainable aquaculture.

The China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR) is developed as the next tokamak device in China. The gravity support of CFETR VV is designed with a flexible plate structure to allow radial thermal expansion of the vacuum vessel (VV) system and to withstand various design loads. In this paper, the design optimization is developed with Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA) to balance design parameters contributing to stability and strength for the VV gravity support. In this optimization procedure, a parametric FE model is generated to study the structural response of the support corresponding to each design point. Besides, the effects of the design variables on objective function are quantitatively assessed using sensitivity analysis. Through the optimization procedure, optimal design parameters of the VV gravity support are obtained. Compared to the initial design, an improvement of about 50.4 and 401% for the peak stress and buckling load factor of the support plates, respectively.

The net-zero energy building (NZEB) is spreading rapidly as an integrated solution to address energy saving and carbon emissions reduction in the building sector. However, few studies pay close attention to the operational performance of NZEBs as well as their life cycle impact on the environment. This study investigates the operational performance of NZEBs, analyzes the influence factors in achieving net-zero energy, and explores the pathway to reduce the building life cycle carbon emission via a case study conducted from March 2017 to February 2018 in the hot summer and cold winter climate zone of China. The one-year investigation results show that the case building, where energy-efficient technologies and renewable energy were integrated, achieved net-zero energy with good indoor environmental quality. Based on the investigation, influence factors in achieving net-zero energy were analyzed via DesignBuilder: the minimum area per capita was 42 m2 /person under the circumstance of net-zero energy; when operational strategy was changed, the air-conditioning energy use reduction was less than 5%. Additionally, in order to achieve net-zero energy, an equation was proposed to estimate the area ratio of installed photovoltaic (PV) panels to that of the building roof, thereby providing guidance for NZEBs design. Furthermore, life cycle carbon emissions of the project were evaluated. Based on the foregoing results, it can be concluded that by increasing carbon offsets of the PV system appropriately, an NZEB can be transformed into a life-cycle zero-emission building. Moreover, it is necessary to mention that the life cycle carbon emissions of the PV system should be considered.

Urban surface composition is key information for global carbon emission estimation, mesoscale numerical simulations, and outdoor environment studies at both city and neighborhood scales. High spatial-resolution satellite imagery can provide accurate urban surface data. Due to the large volume of data, it is time-consuming to extract manually information from satellite imagery or use other conventional classification methods. Deep leaning-based classification methods have great potential in satellite imaginary recognition due to their high efficiency and accuracy. In this study, we established a novel workflow for deep learning-based satellite imagery classification. At the stage of training dataset preparation, an object-based image analysis (OBIA) classification with the assistance of open source ancillary data from OpenStreetMap (OSM), i.e., OBIA-OSM method, was proposed to accelerate the procedure and improve the accuracy. An area of 33.5 km2 training dataset with 1 m spatial resolution was built based on the Gaofen2 satellite imagery of Hangzhou, China (GF2-HZ dataset). A Res-UNet + inception model was developed for the deep learning process. The results using the newly built model were compared with those from previous FCN and UNet models. The overall accuracy of our proposed model on the GF2-HZ dataset reached 83.1% which outperforms previous models. The influences of raw data-related factors, such as spectral bands composition and spatial resolution, were carefully tested. Data normalization and ‘transfer learning’ techniques were also analyzed and applied to improve the generalization ability of deep learning models.
