Wooden boats operating throughout an archipelagic country play an important role in connecting in particular remote areas and small islands. Those boats are deployed by traditional merchant shipping, also known as Pelra, abbreviated from Pelayaran Rakyat meaning Pelople’s Shipping. They carry nearly all types of cargoes, and usually a family business. Efforts to alleviate its role are necessary, from various aspects. The duration of shipments of cargo by using Pelra ships is long, the impacts on the cashflow of many parties are immediately afected. The growth of internet usage open a window of opportunity to improve this situation, by introducing e-Payment system. This paper outlines this effort by applying the Intelligent Transpotation System (ITS) architecture. A Pelra route Surabaya-Bima serves a case study to investigate the viability of the e-payment. The study concludes that introduction of an e-payment system is promising.

This journal explains the fatigue life analysis of anchor chain in the stand-alone single point mooring by comparing the 4x1 asymmetric and symmetrical mooring system configurations to determine whether the effect of the asymmetrical mooring system configuration on the fatigue life of the anchor chain is related to the length of the mooring lines, the pretensions of the mooring lines, and the angle of spread. The analysis was reviewed on the condition of ULS and FLS environmental loading based on API RP 2 SK code using Orcaflex with 3 hours of time- domain simulation. In the ULS condition, the symmetrical configuration can withstand environmental loads better in the direction of 0 o and 180 o with the generated maximum tension and maximum offset value smaller than the result from asymmetrical configuration. While the asymmetrical configuration can withstand environmental loads better in the direction of 90 o and 270 o with the generated maximum tension and maximum offset value smaller than the result from symmetrical configuration. In the FLS condition, the asymmetrical configuration has a longer minimum fatigue life and design life of anchor chain than the symmetrical configuration. This happens because of the spread angle of the mooring line, the length of the mooring line, and the pretension of the mooring line

When ships reached the end of their operational life, they are required to be dismantled in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. However, current ship recycling process in Indonesia is not compliant with the standard of existing rules and is not environmentally friendly and dangerous to the safety of the workers. In this paper, a comprehensive gap analysis was conducted through the comparison of the current process with the standard of international regulations from health and safety perspective. The analysis is based on the expert judgement technique that combined the field observation and questionnaire to assess the current process as well as to identify the process related gaps compared to the current regulations. This has been achieved through these major steps: (1) Identification of ship recycling process, (2) Established an expert team, (3) Development of ideal process (4) Field observation (5) Development of observed process flow (6) Identify the gap.

Ship recycling is gaining attention in Indonesia due to the increase in end-of-life ships and uneconomical nationally flagged ships, and is considered a prospective source of economic development and employment opportunity, and yet conceivably poses a threat to the health and safety of workers and the environment. There are international and national regulations that govern ship-recycling activities to ensure that the hazardous impacts of the industry are minimized. We investigated the disparity between current ship-breaking practices in Indonesia and the requirements of related international and national regulations, with the findings intended for use as a stepping stone to proposing a strategy to establish a green and sustainable ship-recycling industry. A benchmark study of the world’s leading ship-recycling countries was conducted, and a gap analysis was performed by comparing existing international and national regulations with current ship-breaking practices in Indonesia. We identified two types of ship-breaking practices in Indonesia: Conventional environmentally unfriendly ship-breaking method, conducted by most Indonesian ship-breaking yards, and a rather modern, more environmentally friendly method, conducted by ship-repair yards. However, neither of the practices met the requirements of the regulations, and improvements are therefore needed to make the ship-recycling industry more green and sustainable, and to gain international recognition.

The 60m Fast Missile Boat (FMB 60m) with a full load displacement of 467T draft 2.6m uses a 3900Kw engine and a maximum speed of 28 knots. In this research, it will be designed using the Gawn series. Choice of the Gawn series is because Gawn has a P / D of 0.4-2.0 and a maximum KT of 1.1. Powering calculations, performed using the MARIN DESPPC method. Based on the calculation results, the KTR and JDesaign value will be obtained, then all Gawn series propellers that meet the required engine power will be calculated. From the calculation of thrust requirements and the availability of engine power, the Gawn-series propeller is suitable for the propulsion of 60m fast missile boat.

When pipelaying activity is carried out, the most influential factor is the significant wave height. In this final project, the maximum significant wave height allowed for the PLB during the pipelaying process was analyzed with the variation of pipe diameters, which are 8 inches, 10 inches, and 12 inches; variations in the direction of coming waves namely 0 o , 45 o , 90 o , 135 o , and 180 o ; and stinger angle variations. First, static analysis was performed using OFFPIPE software Then, Pipe Lay Barge (PLB) Hafar Neptune modelled with MOSES software and validated with ABS MODU codes. The output was RAO from the Hafar Neptune PLB. Next, dynamic analysis was performed with OFFPIPE software, where the input is static analysis, RAO of Pipe Lay Barge Hafar Neptune, and JONSWAP wave spectrum formulation. The result of the analysis was the significant wave height that could hit the PLB when pipelaying is 3 meters for all pipe diameter variations. For variations in the direction of the wave data, the maximum Hs were 3 meters for 0 ° and 180 °, 2.5 meters for 45 °, 1.5 meters for 90 ° and 135 °.

The optimisation of high-speed fishing boats is different from the optimisation of other displacement type vessels as, for high-speed fishing boats, the wave-making resistance decreases while the splashed resistance increases sharply. To reduce fuel consumption and operating costs in the current economic climate, this paper presents a fishing boat optimisation approach using a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technique. The RANS-VoF solver was utilised to calculate total resistance, sinkage and trim for a fishing boat in calm water. The Arbitrary Shape Deformation (ASD) technique was used to smoothly alter the geometry. A hybrid algorithm was presented to solve the complicated nonlinear optimisation problem. Herein, a Design of Experiments (DoE) method was applied to find an optimal global region and a mathematical programme was employed to determine an optimal global solution. Under the same displacement with the original hull, two optimisation loops were built with different design variables. After completion of the optimisation, two optimal hull forms were obtained. The optimisation results show that the optimisation loop presented in this study can be used to design a suitable fishing boat in the reduction of the total resistance in calm water.

Indonesia has thousand islands to be developed. The total number of islands is 17,508. The potential that can be developed on a small island are environment, energy, transportation, education, information, and so on. In this study, focus is development of Maratua island, located in the district of Berau in East Kalimantan Indonesia. The potential of the island is development of marine tourism. In this case, Sustainable Island Development initiatives (SIDI) implemented to address the above challenges through multidisciplinary research activities. This research is starting from the transport sector, health, education, energy and implementation of information technology. In this context, the development of digital education is very important. This research provides solutions to the educational development of practical and suitable for the Maratua Island. This research develops the role of information and communication technology for teaching and learning activities island communities, examines the role of technology as a supplement teaching and learning process. In addition, this research also aims to design a physical architecture and digital education system that can be implemented in small islands in Indonesia, designing a learning method to support the teaching and learning process, and educating stakeholders about the concept of digital education

In recent years efforts on reducing fuel consumption has become the greatest issue related to energy crisis and global warming. The reduction of fuel consumption can be obtained, if the ship propulsion could be operated in its best performance level. Generally this is done by an appropriate analysis of engine propeller matching (EPM). In this study an EPM based on neural-network method, or NN-EPM, is established to predict the best performance of main engines, leading at minimum fuel oil consumption. A trimaran patrol ship is selected as a case study. This patrol ship is equipped with two 2720 kW main engines each connected to a controllable pitch propeller (CPP) through a reduction gear. The input parameters are ship speedVand service margin SM, with the corresponding output parameters comprise of engine speednE, engine break horse powerPB, propeller pitchP/D, and the fuel consumptionFC. An NN-EPM 2-20-15-4 configuration has been constructed out of 100 training data and then validated by 30 testing data. The maximum relative error between results from NN-EPM and EPM analysis is 2.1%, that is in term of the fuel consumption. For other parameters the errors are well below 1.0%. These facts indicate that the use of NN-EPM to predict the main engines's performance for trimaran patrol ship is satisfactory.

The measurement of unknown model to get the three dimensions of object configuration is by using the laser camera photo tracking. The three dimensions model became from solid drawing on the CATIA software. The CFX ANSYS computational fluid dynamics software is used on the 3D of Flying Boat remote control model full configuration. The rectangular and dihedral configurations of the model have Z forces value during acceleration on the water surface. The pressure distributions hydro planing have a good result also. The speeds on the simulation model are around (0 - 25) knots and Angle of Attack, α = 00. The downwash effect and vortex could be shown in the CFD results. To verify the simulation data analysis is uses the takeoff flight performance testing data during takeoff of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle “Alap alap” with the same Thrust per Weight ratio around 0.4, such as altitude height, airspeed, Z acceleration and pitch angle data. The hump drag of Flying Boat remote control model and the friction during takeoff of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle have been ignored.

This paper put forwards a study on the development of navigation and guidance systems for AUV. The restriction in AUV model and estimation on the degree of freedom are recognized as the common problem in AUV's navigation and guidance systems. In this respect a linear model, derived from the linearization using the Jacobian matrix, will be utilized. The so obtained linear model is then estimated by the Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF). The implementation of EnKF algorithm on the linear model is carried out by establishing two simulations, namely by generating 300 and 400 ensembles, respectively. The simulations exhibit that the generation of 400 ensembles will give more accurate results in comparison to the generation of 300 ensembles. Furthermore, the best simulation yields the tracking accuracy between the real and simulated trajectories, in translational modes, is in the order of 99.88%, and in rotational modes is in the order of 99.99%.

The experiment of Wing in Surface Effect craft A2B and A2C B type for (1 - 2) seaters prototype are the background of this research. The aerodynamic, hydrodynamic, thrust and weight data of these prototypes were already investigated. The best ratio of Thrust per Weight is around 0.4 from this experience to fulfill the liftoff condition from the water surface. The step position on the hull as the theoretical prediction of Wing in Surface Effect craft is made (2 to 10)0 from center of gravity, c.g location to the step position. These formulas have been used to designing the Flying Boat remote control model. The whole process to build the remote control model is shown on this paper. The investigation of the outer wing of Flying Boat remote control model had been done to elaborate the aerodynamic and hydrodynamic characteristic. Included the laser photo camera tracking to 3 D model and Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis have been done also. The three dimensions (3 D) figures are evaluated by CATIA software and then these data results were transfer to the input of CFx Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software. The meshing, pressure distribution and forces distributions during hydro planing of outer wing and pontoon of Flying Boat remote control model have been analyzed by CFx Computational Fluid Dynamics software. The Z force on the outer wing and pontoon showed a good result.

Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) in its operation is significantly affected by the environmental load as well as operational loads. These loads indirectly affect the structural components such as modules and its supports structures onboard of the FPSO. Investigation of fracture propagation has been carried out on the scantling support structure system of gas processing module. Modeling the structure with the finite element method (FEM) approach was performed by utilizing ANSYS 11.0 software. The fracture propagation evaluation is accomplished by elastic-plastic fracture mechanics with J-Integral method on crack first-mode (opening crack) accordance with DNV-OS-F201. As case study, FPSO Belanak operated at Conoco Block B in Natuna, Indonesia was investigated.

Propeller cavitation noise analysis is necessary since this noise is one of the components of the ship noise signature that would be different for each type of the ship. Therefore, the noise can be used for detection and identification process of a ship. This noise can be simulated by doing the experiment generating one component of the ship noise signature, i.e. the propeller cavitation noise. The experiment is done in the cavitation tunnel of the Indonesian Hydrodynamic Laboratory (IHL), Surabaya, Indonesia to generate this noise. Two techniques, i.e. the Wigner-Ville distribution and the backpropagation neural network, are applied to analyse this noise. The results are compared to examine which technique shows better representation.
