A current clamping circuit for a series resonant DC link converter is derived by duality from a well known circuit for the parallel resonant DC link converter. This clamping circuit is capable of reducing current peaks to about 1.2-1.4 times the DC bias current. Proper control of the triggering instant eliminates irregular high current peaks common in this topology, making the pulse amplitudes uniform at the clamping value, no matter what the converter switching sequence is. A design methodology is proposed and simulated results are presented. >
