The study was conducted to estimate factors affecting the information sources and communication channels that were used by pig farmers to access information about African Swine Fever (ASF) in Tra Vinh Province, Vietnam, and to determine the perception of pig farmers about ASF epidemic. The survey used the questionnaires to gather data from 150 pig farmers which was conducted in a purposive method and was analyzed by multiple logistic regression model. Objectively this study can be a critical review for the government or the stakeholders in the tourism industry to synergize with each other to realize the concept of Penta helix to be more productive and produce a conceptual model that can be empirically tested further. The research approach is to choose a qualitative explorative method that starts from the interview, discussion, and observation process involving informants representing each element of Penta helix. The study results indicate that Penta helix elements as stakeholders carry out activities and programs that consist of planning, implementation, and evaluation processes based on their respective capacities. Apart from that, the communication relationships between Penta helix elements have not shown an interactive and complicated relationship. The lack of communication is because of differences in perspective and the lack of coordination and collaboration between Penta helix parts. Exclusively the development of the Penta helix model is explained clearly in the discussion.

This study aims to present explicit findings from an internal perspective, namely the interaction patterns of marketing communication between pentahelix elements and testing the expectations of tourists towards tourism activities through a simulation model between variables. This study is divided into two methods of analysis, namely qualitative explorative, where the study aims to invest in communication patterns and patterns of interaction between pentahelix stakeholders in Sitiwinangun Tourism Village, West Java, Indonesia with involve 17 informants who came from pentahelix elements (Government, academics, community, business and media). Second, quantitative method to measure the extent of effectiveness rather than collaboration activities and the role of marketing communication to tourist satisfaction is done by an analytical approach involving 30 tourists through customer satisfaction surveys. The results of this study illustrate that the involvement of each pentahelix element has not been maximized. The pattern of interaction and communication between elements also shows the gap between interests, expectations, and reality. This study provides a real picture that to realize a tourism program that is profitable, holistic, and sustainable requires collaboration that is wrapped with transparent and interactive communication patterns. The marketing communication concept approach combined with collaboration theory between stakeholders can be useful for sustainable tourism.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the performance of milk production, total milk revenue and reproduction indicators of Friesian Holstein Crossbred cows maintained under smallholder’s management system of 122 cows in DIY Province and 345 cows in East Java Province, Indonesia. The study was conducted with survey method and direct observation. A total of 180 Friesian Holstein Crossbred farmers (90 farmers were in DIY and another 90 farmers were from East Java Province) was randomly selected and interviewed used structured questionnaire to assess the milk production, total milk revenue and indicators of reproduction of Friesian Holstein Crossbred cows. The result of the study showed that the average mature equivalent of milk production was 3,810.21±920.10 L/lactation in DIY and 3,717.79±818.44 L/lactation in East Java Province, and the total milk revenue was 12,401,917.87±2.48 IDR per lactation in DIY and 14,647,217.80±3.05 IDR per lactation in East Java Province; day to first mating (postpartum mating), services per conception and days open were 62.34±29.24 days, 2.60±1.32 and 88.58±34.43 days in DIY and 60.62±23.07 days, 2.46±1.26 and 88.67±28.86 days in East Java Province. Based on total milk revenue, the conclusion of this study was Friesian Holstein Crossbred cows maintained under smallholder’s management system in East Java Province better than those in Yogyakarta province (DIY). The mature equivalent of milk production and reproduction indicators of dairy cows (postpartum mating, service per conception and days open) from both provinces showed no significant differences and the value of each parameter reproduction indicators is still within the normal range.

Culture appears in all contexts of human life, included in the government's communication policy. The aim of this study is to verify the influence of the cultural dimension toward the communication policy of relocating street vendors by the Government of Yogyakarta City in 2004 to 2010. This study used 258 vendors who had been relocated as the sample. The data analysis used of this study was quantitative with the double regression analysis test. The results of this study showed that the cultural dimension have a significant effect toward the communication of relocation policy of Street Vendors in Yogyakarta. It can be seen from the F-count (71,536) > F-table (4,710), t-count (18,625) > t-table (1,960) with a significance level of 0.000 (α < 0,05). The regression determination coefficient (R2) showed that the communication of relocation policy of street vendors in Yogyakarta is influenced by the cultural dimension, that is about 0,600, or 60%, while the rest is about 40% due to other variables outside of the model studied.Keywords: cultural dimension; communication; relocation policy; street vendor

The purpose of this study to determine the level of participation, identify the factors that influence the participation of farmers and to analysis the effect of participation in the Scholars develop village or Sarjana Membangun Desa (SMD) program. The research was conducted on a group of beef cattle in the SMD program Bantul Yogyakarta Province. Primary data were collected by survey method using questionnaire interviews on 8 SMD groups consisting of 42 members. Analysis of the level of participation of farmers using discriptive analysis, while to analysis factors that affect the participation of farmers and the influence of participation to the success of the program was used multiple linear regression analysis with SPSS tools for windows 16. The result analysis shows that farmers level participation in planning, 71.43% farmers had low participation; 59.52% farmers in the implementation stage had participation that was middle level. On stage of evaluation 54.76% farmers had low participation and in stage sharing benefits 50% farmers had low participation. Success of the program SMD viewed from population cattle declined from 184 head to 107 head, while the existing capital in the group also decreased from IDR 2.904.000.000 to IDR 1.182.000.000 seen from number of members group declined from 185 farmers being 114 farmers. Regression analysis showed that age, occupation, level of formal education, non-formal education, long became members of the group, farming experience, family income, number of dependents, land holdings, cosmopolitan, group motivation, the role of SMD, and the role of agency participation of farmers had not been able to explain the participation of farmers and the value of R2 value of 0.132 (13.2%). Partially no factor capable of affecting farmers participation. Further results of the regression analysis with the participation of relationship success SMD program showed no effect with R2 value of 0.01.

This research aimed to determine the relationship between farmer characteristics including age, education level, farming experience, side income, number of dependent family member, and farmer's business scale with the motivation of goat milking in Girikerto Village, Turi District, Sleman Regency. The type of this research was quantitative explanatory, that was the type of research explaining the nature of the relationship and examining the relationship between farmer characteristics with milking motivation. The research method used a household survey of farmers with the help of questionnaires. The number of respondent’s sample used was 56 goat farmers with provisions using the Slovin formula. Sampling technique used Simple Random Sampling. Data were analyzed by Product Moment correlation. The results showed that the variables of age, farming experience, and business scale had a significant relationship with the motivation of goat milking, while the variables of education, side job and a number of dependents had no significant relationship with the motivation of milking. Farmer’s motivation to milk goats could be increased in line with increasing the age and experience of farmers. The motivation of milking goats could also be increased by increasing the number of livestock ownership, especially the ownership of lactating goats.

The study aimed at determining the profile of the beef cattle farmers with semi-intensive and intensive production systems in South Konawe district. It was expected that the results of the study could be information source for stakeholders and policymakers in developing farming resources. It was conducted in July-August 2019 using participatory rural appraisal method and involved 105 farmers selected using purposive sampling and considering production system and minimum cattle ownership. Nowadays, livestock has made clear changes in industrial and semi-industrial production organizations or smart farming. The adoption of livestock technology is extremely important to enhance the quality and quantity of livestock products. Besides, technology may help farmers to increase their profit and protect the health of costumer and environment. Advanced technologies in smart farming were widely applied by livestock farmers such as data management, Internet of Things technology, precision farming, agriculture drones, and so forth. Those technologies may make a great livestock system like closed livestock production from breeding to processing and consumption. Moreover, when using smart farming techniques, farmers can better monitor or observe the need for individual animals and adjust their nutrition correspondingly, thereby preventing diseases and improving herb health. There are many benefits from adopting smart farming and also have some obstacles that farmers have to face when they would like to access to smart farming. This paper also gives extensions and innovations for small farmers that can be utilized to facilitate the processing of smart farming implementation.

The activity aimed to arrange the learning materials for farmer based on the cattle production system. The learning materials or curriculum is developed based on system theory perspective. In the system theory, there are two approaches which are hard system and soft system. The hard system refers to a quantitative perspective with rigid indicators such as technology implementation, productivity, and efficiency. Meanwhile, the soft system considers problem-solving based on the level of understanding, attitude and participation, teamwork, and motivation. This community services focused on applying soft system approach to arrange learning materials through farmer participation. The Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) technique was conducted to stimulate farmers to identify their production problems and to prioritize the problem solving for learning materials. This article concluded that cattle farmers were able to identify and to prioritize the problem better through PRA stages.

The local government as a system, organizationally, has the public relations (PR) board which should ideally have a large capacity in supporting management of policy development.This study is intended to describe the existence of PR to support the successful implementation of relocation policies of street vendors in the Yogyakarta City. This research is a qualitative research with the unit of analysis is the staff of PR and information from the government of the Yogyakarta City. The problem to be questioned is to what extent of the local government PR are performing the function and roles based on the main duties and functions which is set based on, theoretically, the essence of the ideality. The results showed that the success of the relocation of street vendors in the Yogyakarta City performed collaboratively between PR and its stakeholders. Processes and mechanisms impasses through the stages of fact-finding, planning, and negotiation. PR is not involved directly in the process of communication and negotiation to street vendors, but it is become a bridge of information, mediator, and facilitator in the process of relocation. Media of communication which widely used are mass media and interpersonal media. Both kinds of media are used by PR board and its stakeholders in creating the awareness of the street vendors to be relocated.

This research aimed to investigate the users’ satisfaction on information service e-government (website) service at Regional information management system (SIMDA) in Kolaka Regency. The methods used were qualitative and quantitative approaches. Qualitative approach used for process information management understanding by BAPESIKOM/PDE. Meanwhile, quantitative approach used to investigate the user satisfied on information service website based on the information management performance. The informants were interviewed in qualitative approach were 6 persons. The sample of users information service which chosen by simple random sampling method were 40 respondents. The result of the research shown that the information management was not qualified. It was presumed on no strategies to produce good quality of qualified information. Information service users of Kolaka Regional Regency stated their unsatisfied on the using of information service based Website.

The access to information on the selling price of tomatoes by tomato growers is perceived very limitedin the pastin Pangalengan District. The appearance of information technology, such as mobile phone,provides opportunities for tomatoes growers to obtain the access to more information, wider, fasterand cheaper. The general objective of this research is to identify the behavior of tomato growers’communication and the influence aspects of the use of mobile phones toward the effectiveness ofcommunication in Pangalengan District. The method for this research is explanatory survey research.Two-steps random sampling has been used in this research with selected sample of 165 respondents.The research unit is focused on the tomatoes growers who used mobile phones. The result indicates thatthe tomato growers in Pangalengan District perceive the use of mobile phones provides benefits to havemore options for the selling price of tomatoes. The result of statistical analysis shows that the use ofmobile phones among tomato growers and tomato sellers has given significant effect on the effectivenessof communication and increasing the intensity of tomato sales.From this research, it is recommendedto provide the information management of the selling price of tomatoes via mobile phones involvingAgriculture Information Officer (PIP) which already exist today.

The Innovation of website by local governments can actually be used to improve public services and encouragecommunity participation in development.This study aims to analyze and explain (1) the performance ofe-government, (2) participation in infrastructure development, and (3) the influence of the performanceof e-government toward public participation in infrastructure development in Sidoarjo. The method usedis explanatory approach with a sample of 233 respondents as the users of the local government of Sidoarjo.Analyzing technique used is multiple regression and path analysis. The results showed that the performanceof e-government in Sidoarjo district that includes ease of use, usefulness, web interface, a complementaryrelationship, as well as public services is categorized as good at 68.81%. Public participation in infrastructuredevelopment is regarded as medium category, which is 57.12%. The most dominant community participationis information search, supervision; discussion or public consultation; partnership in the provision of funds,energy, and thought. The performance of e-government significantly influences the participation. Gender alsodirectly affects community participation and indirectly affects participation through the use of e-government.

This study was aimed to formulate strategies for increasing adoption innovation in the smallholder dairy farms. The study was conducted in May to July 2015. The research was conducted using survey method. The selection of respondents was conducted using multi-stage sampling to 270 dairy smallholder farmers in Yogyakarta Region, Central, and East Java Provinces. The method used was descriptive qualitative by using SWOT analysis (strength, weakness, opportunity and threat). The results of the research which is to optimize resources; provide a clear and continuous information about innovation; facilitate access to information by extending the dissemination of information; provide mentoring programs, counseling, and training with a demonstration of the innovation; increas e the participation of dairy farmers; strengthen institutional dairy farmers; seek a tool to support innovation together; improv e the quality of extension, media, and the delivery of information; and optimize government and NGO aid.

bjectives of this research were to analyze the characteristic of social demography of farmer’s participated in program and to carryout assessment. The implementation of agribusiness development program of beef cattle farmingin Sekadau Regency. This research was conducted from August until October 2009. One hundred and eight farmers participated in the program as respondents, selected by proportionate random sampling method, from five villages,locations of the program of livestock grant. Data of increasing population, number of investor, social demography characteristic of respondents and income contribution from beef cattle farming were analyzed by quantitative descriptive. Data of program implementation process, input and program implementation were analyzed by qualitative descriptive. Result showed that the beef cattle population increased about 152 heads and the investor increased about58 investors, respondent characteristics were age was 42.30±5.87 years old, majority of education level was on elementary school 43.52%, length of farming experience was 1.61±1,20 years, averages of cattle owning 1.88±1.05Livestock Unit (LU), the number of family support 3.36±1.15 head, and averages of time allocation of farming 0.078±0.082 HOK/LU/day, average income contribution from beef cattle farming was rangery from 8.21-24.09%.Program’s socialization in Sekadau Regency was not effective because many of the farmers had not fully understood about the objective and the implementation of the program, there was a distortion on the selection of farmers whoreceived livestock grant, farmer groups were not established based on the rule, were not involved members the arrangement of group business plan, breed determination and cattle specification, cattle’s specifications were not suitable with the condition. On the implementation step, there was a distortion of the fund, cattle specification and cost burden to the member, difference on mechanism of livestock grant revolving in each village. The increase of beefcattle population had not reached the determined target. It could be concluded that the implementation of agribusiness development program in Sekadau Regency has not been optimal.(Keywords: Social demography characteristic, Program implementation, Beef cattle)

This research was conducted to study the elements and value chain of milk-processing cluster industry in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. The respondent in this study consisted of cow and goats milk processing industry, dairy cooperative and related institution. The data consisted of primary data and secondary data. Primary data were collected through observation and interviews, while secondary data obtained from statistical data from Department of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives, Agricultural Service of Agriculture Department and LPPOM MUI DIY. Descriptive analysis were used in this study to analyzed the data. Respondent and locations were determined using purposive sampling methods lead to be analyse descriptively. The results showed that stakeholders involved as important elements of milkprocessing cluster industry were milk suppliers (farmer, dairy groups, and cooperative), core industry (small-medium scale processor of cow’s and goat milk), supporting industry (sugar, packaging and tools), supporting institution (bank, university, and government agencies), related industry (food chain, bakery, and coffee shop), and also buyers (retailer, distributor, end user or consumer). Their main products are pasteurized cow’s and goat milk, yoghurt of cow’s milk, and goat milk powder. The long chains to produce milk product since the raw milk have indicated some added values on economy and involvement of man powers leading to local economic development as well as of technology innovation or industry.
