Sathon Mason, 1981 is reported for the first time from China through providing a diagnosis, description, and images of Sathon falcatus (Nees, 1834). The mitochondrial genome of S. falcatus was sequenced, annotated and analysed.

Blacus (Contochorus) capillosus sp. nov. (Figs 1–2) Material examined. Holotype: ♀, China, Shaanxi, Qinling, Tiantai Mtn, 4.IX.1999, Chen Xuexin, No. 991398 (ZJUH). Paratype: 1♀, China, Shaanxi, Qinling, Tiantai Mtn, 3.IX.1999, He Junhua, No. 990176 (ZJUH). Description. Female. Length of body 2.4 mm, length of fore wing 2.35 mm. Body setosity. Body with dense setae, although sparser on mesopleuron. Head. Width of head in dorsal view 1.4 × its length (Fig. 2A); antennomeres 16 (Fig. 2C); length of first flagellomere 1.3 × length of second flagellomere; length of first, second and penultimate flagellomeres 4.6, 4.2 and 1.6 × their width, respectively; length of maxillary palp 1.0 × height of head; OOL: diameter of posterior ocellus: POL = 22:9:11; eyes with short dense setae (Fig. 2A); length of eye in dorsal view 0.85 × length of temple; occiput almost level (Fig. 2A); face with dense setae; temple with dense setae; malar suture present, length of malar space 1.75 × basal width of mandible. Mesosoma. Length of mesosoma 1.45 × its height; pronotal sides coarsely reticulate ventrally, dorsally smooth; area behind prepectal carina less conspicuously crenulate (Fig. 2E); precoxal sulcus narrow, with a few very short crenulae (Fig. 2E); notauli absent (Fig. 2D), without transverse carinae anteriorly; scutellar sulcus with medio-longitudinal carina (Fig. 2D); scutellum smooth, its lateral carina present, not protruding apically; surface of propodeum smooth between carinae, its medial area rectangular (Fig. 2F). Wings. Fore wing: first discal cell widely truncate anteriorly (Fig. 2H); vein r 1.2 × longer than maximum width of pterostigma; 1-CU1:2-CU1 = 13:21 (Fig. 2H). Legs. Hind coxa smooth, but with a distinct carina dorsally (Fig. 2F); length of femur, tibia and basitarsus of hind leg 6.2, 9.9 and 11.0 × their width, respectively; fore and mid claws with bristles (Figs 2I, 2J). Metasoma. Length of first tergite 2.6 × its apical width, almost parallel-sided, its surface rugulose, dorsal carinae complete (Fig. 2F); second tergite rugose; length of ovipositor sheath 0.10 × as long as fore wing. Colour. Body reddish-brown; palpi, mandible, tegulae, fore and middle legs, hind coxa and trochanter yellow; pterostigma, parastigma, veins, ovipositor, ovipositor sheath and all basitarsus brown; bristles of fore and mid claws blackish; wing membrane slightly infuscate. Variation. Length of first tergite 2.4–2.6 × its apical width. Male. Unknown. Biology. Unknown. Distribution. China (Shaanxi). Etymology. The specific name capillosus refers to the setose body and is derived from “ capillosus ” (Latin for hairy). Notes. The new species is similar to B. (C). turbidus Papp, 1985. Both species have medial area of propodeum rectangular, first discal cell of fore wing widely truncate anteriorly, and area behind prepectal carina less conspicuously crenulate than B. (C). mellitarsis and B. (C). epomidus but B. (C). capillosus differ by having 16 antennomeres of female (21–23 in B. (C). turbidus), lateral carina of scutellum not protruding apically (strongly protruding apically in B. (C). turbidus), mid claws of female with blackish bristles (only setose in B. (C). turbidus), length of eye of ♀ in dorsal view 0.85 × temple (1.3–1.6 × in B. (C). turbidus) and notauli absent (complete in B. Blacus (Contochorus) planus sp. nov. (Figs 5–6) Material examined. Holotype: ♀, China, Hunan, Shimen, Huping Mtn, Xiangbizigou, 8.VII.2009, Ma Li, No. 200903023 (ZJUH). Paratype: 1♀, China, Zhejiang, Anji, Longwang Mtn, 21.VII.1995, Wu Hong, No. 971319 (ZJUH). Description. Female. Length of body 2.1 mm, length of fore wing 1.8 mm. Body setosity. Body with long pubescence, pubescence on head, side of pronotum and mesopleuron sparser than on remainder of body. Head. Head longitudinal and flat in dorsal view, width of head in dorsal view 1.1 × its length (Fig. 6A); antennomeres 16 (Fig. 6C); length of first flagellomere 1.2 × length of second flagellomere; length of first, second and penultimate flagellomeres 4.0, 3.3 and 1.4 × their width, respectively; length of maxillary palp 0.7 × height of head; OOL: diameter of posterior ocellus: POL = 16:6:7; eyes with short sparse setae (Fig. 6A); length of eye in dorsal view 0.8 × length of temple; occiput concave (Fig. 6A); face with dense long pubescence; temple smooth; malar suture weakly developed, length of malar space 1.5 × basal width of mandible. Mesosoma. Length of mesosoma 1.5 × its height; pronotal sides coarsely reticulate ventrally, dorsally smooth; area behind prepectal carina less conspicuously crenulate (Fig. 6E); precoxal sulcus narrow, with short crenulae (Fig. 6E); notauli absent posteriorly (Fig. 6D), impressed and crenulate anteriorly (Fig. 6D), without transverse carinae anteriorly; scutellar sulcus with medio-longitudinal carina (Fig. 6D); scutellum smooth, its lateral carina lamelliform, not protruding apically; surface of propodeum smooth between carinae, its medial area almost rectangular (Fig. 6F). Wings. Fore wing: first discal cell widely truncate anteriorly (Fig. 6I); vein r 0.6 × as long as maximum width of pterostigma; 1-CU1:2-CU1 = 1:3. Legs. Hind coxa smooth, but with a distinct carina dorsally (Figs 6G, 6H); length of femur, tibia and basitarsus of hind leg 5.0, 9.1 and 8.4 × their width, respectively; fore and mid claws with bristles (Figs 6J, 6L). Reddish-brown; palpi, mandible, tegulae, three basal segments of antenna, fore and middle legs, hind coxa and trochanter yellow; remainder of antenna, pterostigma, parastigma, veins, ovipositor, ovipositor sheath and all basitarsi brown; bristles of fore and mid claws blackish; wing membrane slightly infuscate. The specific name planus refers to the rather flattened head and is derived from “ planus ” (Latin for flat). Notes. The new species is similar to B. (C). glaber van Achterberg, 1976.In both species the middle lobe of the mesoscutum lacks the strong carinae anteriorly, lateral carina of scutellum not strongly protruding apically, and middle claws with blackish bristles, but the two species differ by having 16 antennomeres of ♀ (17 in B. (C). glaber), notauli incomplete (complete in B. (C). glaber), medial area of propodeum rectangular and somewhat longer than wide (quadrangular, its height subequal to its width in B. (C). glaber), width of head in dorsal view 1.1 × its length (1.4 × in B. (C). glaber), length of eye in dorsal view 0.8 × length of temple (1.1 × in B. (C). glaber) and length of hind femur 5.0 × its width (7.0 × in B. (C). glaber).

The specific name refers to the collector of the species, the late Prof. Zai-fu Xu, who was a wellknown specialist of Chrysidoidea. Notes. The new species is similar to B. The specific name refers to the particular different difference in colour of head and mesonotum and is derived from “ varius” (Latin for different). Notes. The new species is similar to B. (H.) fuscitibialis van Achterberg, 1988 because the malar suture is absent, the face transversely rugose, and the first metasomal tergite widened apically, but differs by having the precoxal sulcus with long striae (with a few medium-sized striae in B. fuscitibialis), hind leg (except second, third and fourth tarsal flagellomeres) reddish-brown (only hind tibia infuscated medially), fore claw with blackish bristles (brownish bristles), length of penultimate flagellomere 1.2 × its width (1.5 ×), dorsal carinae distinct in basal 0.4 of tergite (basal 0.7), and length of ovipositor sheath 0.16 × length of fore wing (0.18 ×). This new species is also similar to B. (H.) robustus Haeselbarth, 1973 because the scutellum is coarsely rugose, the malar suture absent, the propodeal tubercle rather large, length of eye in dorsal view 0.9 × temple, and fore claw with blackish bristles, but differs by having malar space 2.0 × longer than basal width of mandible (1.7 × in B. robustus), length of first and second flagellomeres 4.8 and 3.0 × their width, respectively (4.1 and 2.6 ×), dorsal carinae of first tergite distinct in basal 0.5 (in basal 0.3), and hind leg yellowish-brown (femur, tibia and tarsus of hind leg darkened apically, base of hind tibia yellowish).

The subgenus Hysterobolus Viereck, 1913 (Hymenoptera, Braconidae, Blacus) is newly recorded from China. Nine new species are proposed, B. (H.) baishanzuensis sp. nov., B. (H.) flaviceps sp. nov., B. (H.) laculaticornis sp. nov., B. (H.) longiapicalis sp. nov., B. (H.) melanoapicalis sp. nov., B. (H.) niger sp. nov., B. (H.) variegatus sp. nov., B. (H.) xui sp. nov., B. (H.) yunnanensis sp. nov., and one species, B. (H.) chabarovi Belokobylskij, 1995, is newly recorded from China. An updated key to the currently known species of the subgenus Hysterobolus in China is provided.

The specific name refers to the dark apical flagellomeres and is derived from “ melanos ” (Greek for black) and “ apex ” (Latin for top). Notes. The new species is similar to B. (H.) fuscitibialis van Achterberg, 1988 because the scutellum is coarsely rugose, the malar suture absent, the first metasomal tergite widened apically, and the face transversely rugose, but differs by having the precoxal sulcus with long striae (only with a few medium-sized striae in B. fuscitibialis), the hind leg brownish (hind tibia infuscated medially), fore claw with blackish bristles (brownish), length of malar space 2.75 × basal width of mandible (2.0 ×), dorsal carinae distinct in basal 0.4 of tergite (basal 0.7), and length of ovipositor sheath 0.15 × length of fore wing (0.18 ×).

(H.) robustus Haeselbarth, 1973 because the scutellum is coarsely rugose, the malar suture absent, length of eye in dorsal view as long as temple, length of the penultimate flagellomere 1.3 × its width, and the hind tibia darkened apically, but differs by having a more setose body (sparser setose in B. robustus), the temples more narrowed behind eyes in dorsal view and also in anterior view, the notauli completely crenulate (at least partly simple), the fore claw with brownish bristles (blackish), length of the malar space 2.0 × basal width of mandible (1.7 ×), length of the first tergite 1.8 × its apical width (1.4–1.5 ×), and dorsal carinae of first tergite distinct in basal 0.5 (in basal 0.3).

The taeniaticornis-group of genus Apanteles Foerster from China is revised, in which a total of 3 species are recorded and illustrated. One new species, named, A. parectangular Liu & Chen, sp. nov. is described and illustrated, and a key to Chinese species of the taeniaticornis-group, is provided.

This species differs from the other species in the subgenus Megachlonus by having a pair of long and large teeth at apex of metasomal carapace (Figs 10G, 10H). Description. Chelonus (Arichelonus) kenosetrus sp. nov. Figs 3–4 Material examined. Holotype: female, China, Zhejiang Prov., Deqing, 27.V.1995, Junhua He, No. 965092 (ZJUH); Paratypes, 2 females, Deqing, Zhejiang province, 27.V.1995, Junhua He, Nos. 954349, 954350. Diagnosis. This new species is similar to C. (A.) olgae Kokujev, 1895, but can be separated from the latter by the following characters: ovipositor obviously extended beyond apex of metasomal carapace and covered with a semi-round and semi-hyaline lamella (the ovipositor not or weakly projecting beyond apex of metasoma in C. (A.) olgae Kokujev, 1895); metasoma entirely brown (metasoma with pair of yellow basal spots); about 22 antennomeres of female, distinctly shorter than body length (antennomeres of female about 45, equal to body length). Description. Holotype, female, length of body 4.6 mm, of fore wing 3.3 mm. Head. (M.) macros Zhang, Chen et He, but can be separated from the latter by the following characters: carapace without lamella (carapace with long and wide lamella in C. macros); apex of carapace narrowed in dorsal view(apex of carapace rounded); apex of propodeum strongly concaved with two pairs of blunt tubercles, lateral tubercles distinctly bigger and longer than medial tubercles (apex of propodeum weakly concaved with four comparably average size blunt tubercles). (S.) sinensis He, Chen & van Achterberg, but can be separated from the latter by the following characters: hind coxa and hind femur black in both sexes (hind coxa apically and hind femur basally more or less yellowish-brown in C. (S.) sinensis); apical opening of male carapace is relatively large and close to lateral margins of carapace (apical opening of male carapace relatively small and remaining removed from lateral margins of carapace). Description. Holotype, female, length of body 4.5 mm, of fore wing 3.4 mm. Head. This new species is similar to C. (A.) sternalis Tobias, 1964, but can be separated from the latter by the following characters: length of metasoma 2.3 × its height (4.0 × in C. (A.) sternalis Tobias, 1964); scutellum coarsely reticulate rugose and punctate medially (smooth medially); antennomeres of female 18, length of antenna distinctly shorter than body length (antenna very slender and filiform, antennomeres 38, as long as body). Description. Holotype, female, length of body 3.4 mm, of fore wing 2.2 mm. Head. A new genus, Parallobracongen. nov., of the subfamily Braconinae (Hymenoptera, Braconidae) is described to include Parallobracon prolatussp. nov. Eight genera Chaoilta Cameron, Cyanopterus Haliday, Gammabracon Quicke, Ischnobracon Baltazar, Monilobracon Quicke, Pseudospinaria Enderlein, Vipiomorpha Tobias, and Zaglyptogastra Ashmead (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Braconinae) are newly recorded from China, their 21 species are revised, and 13 new species (Chaoilta brevicepssp. nov., Cyanopterus (Ipobracon) lucidussp. nov., Cyanopterus (Ipobracon) transversussp. nov., Gammabracon uniformissp. nov., Gammabracon wangisp. nov., Ischnobracon guttatussp. nov., Monilobracon longitudinalissp. nov., Monilobracon marginatussp. nov., Parallobracon prolatussp. nov., Vipiomorpha sulcatasp. nov., Vipiomorpha yunnanensissp. nov., Zaglyptogastra exilissp. nov., and Zaglyptogastra tricolorsp. nov.) are described and illustrated. Bracomorpha Papp, 1971, is included as subgenus in Cyanopterus Haliday, 1835 (syn. nov.) and Cyanopterus ninghais Wang, Chen, Wu et He, 2009, is a new combination. Keys to the Chinese species of the genera Chaoilta, Cyanopterus, Gammabracon, Ischnobracon, Monilobracon, Vipiomorpha, and Zaglyptogastra are provided.

The species of three subgenera of the genus Bracon Fabricius (Hymenoptera, Braconidae, Braconinae), i.e. Glabrobracon Fahringer, 1927; Lucobracon Fahringer, 1927; and Uncobracon Papp, 1996 from China are revised and 31 species are recognised, including 11 new species, i.e. Bracon (Glabrobracon) indistinctussp. nov., B. (G.) leptotessp. nov., B. (G.) longistriatussp. nov., B. (G.) megaventrissp. nov., B. (Lucobracon) brevicarinatussp. nov., B. (L.) coarctatussp. nov., B. (L.) curculiovorussp. nov., B. (L.) flavitestaceussp. nov., B. (L.) quadratussp. nov., B. (Uncobracon) eurysulcatussp. nov. and B. (U.) longwangshanensissp. nov. The new species are described and illustrated. Mirachelonus subgen. nov. Type species: Chelonus (Mirachelonus) miraventris sp. nov. Diagnosis. Antennomeres 16 in female and 25 in male; flagellum gradually shortens from base to apex; 3 rd –7 th segments comparatively slender, 8 th –11 th segments distinctly widened; head striate-rugose and shiny; mesosoma coarsely reticulate-rugose; scutellum distinctly protruding above level of mesoscutum, with same sculpture as mesosoma; propodeum with a transverse carina and four distinct tooth-like tubercles; third tergite of metasomal carapace almost straightly narrowed, coarsely longitudinal rugulose, connected by transverse elements, smooth apically; apex of carapace truncate and narrow in dorsal view, in lateral view apex of carapace deeply incurved, about one fourth of total length of carapace in lateral view; apex of carapace with a rather small round aperture (Fig. 4J). Etymology. Mirabilis is Latin for wonderful, strange and it is combined with the generic name Chelonus, because of the very special shape of the third metasomal segment of the type species.

A new subgenus of the genus Chelonus Panzer, 1806 (Braconidae: Cheloninae), Mirachelonus subgen. nov. (type species: Chelonus (Mirachelonus) miraventris sp. nov.) with deeply incurved apex of carapace, is described and illustrated from southwest China. The parasitoid wasp family Braconidae is likely the second-most species-rich family in the animal kingdom. Braconid wasps are widely distributed and often encountered. They constitute one of the principal groups of natural enemies of phytophagous insects, of which many are serious pest species. The enormous biological diversification of braconid wasps has led to many homoplasies, which contributed widely to instabilities in historical classifications. Recent studies using combinations of genetic markers or total mitochondrial genomes allow for better founded groupings and will ultimately lead to a stable classification. Length of mesosoma 1.4 �� its height (Fig. 26c); notauli only impressed anteriorly (Fig. 26d); mesoscutum with dense short setae (Fig. 26d); scutellar sulcus narrow and deep, with sparse crenulae (Fig. 26d); scutellum sparsely short setose; metanotum strongly convex medially (Fig. 26d); propodeum smooth, without medio-longitudinal carina or groove, sparsely setose medially, and densely long setose laterally (Fig. 26d). Length of fore femur: tibia: tarsus = 19: 22: 30; length of hind femur: tibia: basitarsus = 26: 37: 15; length of femur, tibia and basitarsus of hind leg 3.3, 6.7 and 4.9 �� their maximum width, respectively; hind tibial spurs 0.4 and 0.5 �� as long as hind basitarsus. Metasoma. Length of first metasomal tergite 0.9 �� its apical width, median area convex and coarsely sculptured, without medio-longitudinal carina posteriorly, lateral grooves sparsely crenulate (Fig. 26j); second tergite largely coarsely sculptured, triangular medio-basal area smooth (but with some crenulae at outer margin), attached to medio-longitudinal carina apically, the latter not reaching posterior margin of second tergite (Fig. 26e); apical width of second tergite 2.4 �� its median length, antero-lateral areas of second tergite rather small and smooth, anterior grooves wide and with weak sparse crenulae apically (Fig. 26e); second suture wide and deep, crenulate, nearly straight medially (Fig. 26e); apical width of third tergite 3.6 �� its median length; third���fifth tergites coarsely sculptured, with antero-lateral areas (fifth tergite weak) and subposterior groove (Fig. 26e); sixth and seventh tergites largely smooth; ovipositor sheath 0.2 �� as long as fore wing. Colour. Largely black (Fig. 25); frons laterally (up to eyes), face laterally, area surrounding malar suture, posterior half of middle lobe of mesoscutum, mesopleuron anteriorly and scutellum white or ivory (Figs 26c, 26d, 26g, 26h); first metasomal tergite (except for median area), second tergite laterally (except posteriorly), third tergite antero-laterally and posteriorly, fourth���seventh tergites posteriorly whitish yellow (Fig. 26e); wing membrane smoky grey, pterostigma and veins dark brown (Figs 26a, 26b). Variation. Length of body of female 4.5���6.0 mm, of fore wing of female 4.8���6.2 mm, and of ovipositor sheath 0.8���1.0 mm; length of mesosoma 1.5 �� its height; spots of head pale yellow in paratype; pronotum laterally and lateral lobes of mesoscutum anteriorly whitish yellow or black.
