Field research on grassland fungi in Slovakia resulted in collection of several rare fungi, including also geoglossaceous taxa, such as Microglossum viride (5 sites), Trichoglossum hirsutum (13 sites), Trichoglossum walteri (5 sites), Trichoglossum variabile (1 site), Microglossum olivaceum (2 sites), Thuemenidium atropurpureum (1 site). Last three species are new for Slovakia.

A description is provided for Trichoglossum rasum . Some information on its associated organisms and substrata, habitats, dispersal and transmission and conservation status is given, along with details of its geographical distribution (Central America (Panama), South America (Venezuela (Amazonas)), Asia (China (Yunnan), India (Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand), Malaysia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea), Atlantic Ocean (Bermuda), Caribbean (Cuba and Jamaica), Europe (UK), Pacific Ocean (New Caledonia and USA (Hawaii))). No reports of negative economic impacts of this fungus have been found.

The genus Trichoglossum ( Geoglossaceae ) is characterized by black, clavate, stipitate apothecia with hymenial setae. We collected T. cf. octopartitum from China and a new species of Trichoglossum from Thailand, the latter named as T. septatum. According to morphological examination and molecular phylogenetic analyses of ITS sequence data, T. septatum diverges from other Trichoglossum species. Full descriptions, colour figures, and a phylogenetic tree to show the positions of T. cf. octopartitum and T. septatum are provided, and the two species are compared with allied taxa. The important morphological characteristics of Trichoglossum species are also summarized.

Trichoglossum species, like other species of Geoglossaceae s.l., are commonly known as earth tongues. The main characteristic that separates Trichoglossum from the other genera of the family is the presence of black setae in the hymenium. Ascomata are typically dark, clavate-stipitate and the surface has a velvety aspect. During field expeditions in the State of Pernambuco, Brazil, in 2008, specimens of Trichoglossum were collected. The material was analyzed macro and microscopically and identified as T. hirsutum. The ascospores are brownish, 113–140 μm long, with 15 septa. This species has a worldwide distribution, but had not been previously reported to the Northeast Brazil. A key for the identification of species of Trichoglossum recorded in Brazil is presented.

rower ascospores (length to width ratio for M tryblidariae is 4.1-4.8; length to width ratio for M. geoglossi is 3.1-3.8). In addition, the ascomata of M. geoglossi are superficial on the hymenium of Trichoglossum species (Leotiaceae) while those of M. tryblidariae are immersed in the hymenium of a Tryblidaria sp. (Patellariaceae). In his description of Micropyxis, Seeler suggested that the genus probably represents a reduced member of the Helotiaceae. Korf (1971) included Micropyxis in the Leotiaceae, tribe Mniaecieae. More recently however, Pfister (1976) proposed a separate tribe, the Calloriopsideae, for Micropyxis and a genus with didymosporous species, Calloriopsis. With the addition of our new taxon the tribe now includes three species, M. geoglossi, M. tryblidariae, and Calloriopsis gelatinosa (Sacc.) Sydow.

Hypomyces papulasporae (synanamorphs = Papulaspora sp., Sibirina sp.), H. papulasporae var. americanus (synanamorphs = Papulaspora candida, Sibirina clavisedum), H. mycogones (anamorph = Mycogone-like) on Geoglossum spp. and Trichoglossum spp.; Hy? pomyces stephanomatis (synanamorphs = Stephanoma strigosum, Sibirina sp.) on the operculate discomycete Humaria hemisphaerica; Hypomyces leotiicola (synanamorphs = Sepedonium leotiarum, Sibirina sp.) on Leotia lubrica, and Nectria discophila (anamorph = ^.Acremonium sp.) on Lachnum spp. are proposed. Nectria albidopilosa and N. discicola, occurring on unidentified, inoperculate Discomycetes, are also described. Hypomyces sepulcralis on soil and possibly on Peziza sp., and Nectria sepultariae, on Sepultaria arenicola, are redescribed. Stephanoma tetracoccum and its Sibirina-like synanamorph, both found on members of the Geoglossaceae, are illustrated and described briefly.
