Luminescent materials have garnered significant research interest due to their potential applications in optoelectronics, sensing, and medical diagnostics. Within this context, tetra-coordinated organoboron complexes have emerged as promising luminescent materials due to their enhanced stabilities, high electron affinities, and tuneable fluorescence properties. Herein, we report the synthesis, structure, and photophysical properties of two different types of N,O-chelated tetra-aryl pyrazole-based organoboron compounds. We also investigated the aggregation-induced enhanced emission properties of the synthesized complexes and further demonstrated their utility for picric acid sensing. The absorption and emission behaviours of these compounds reveal that the position of boron chelation plays a crucial role in determining their photophysical properties as well as their sensing behaviour.
