The article discusses various developments that took place in the Latin American and Caribbean countries during 2008 particularly related to economic issues. Argentina decided to end its double taxation treaty with Austria, which will reduce the Austrian bond market in Argentina. In October 2008, the Bolivian Congress decided to hold a national referendum in 2009 which will decide whether the country will accept the new constitution or not. Brazil made several changes in its criminal procedure code.
