Objective: We examined changes in youth cardiometabolic risk following a lifestyle intervention. Methods: Forty-five participants had indices of obesity, blood pressure (BP), and biomarkers assessed pre- and post-intervention. We assessed changes in outcome measures between groups across time. Results: Results from the ANCOVA indicated a statistically significant effect of the intervention on post-intervention HDL-C after controlling for baseline HDL-C, F(1, 24) = 4.98, p = .03, and there was a statistically significant effect of the intervention on post-intervention LDL-C after controlling for baseline LDL-C, F(1, 23) = 35.43, p < .001. Conclusions: Whereas this intervention resulted in improvements across multiple outcomes, no changes in BMI occurred. An intervention of longer duration may be necessary for improvement in a wider range of cardiometabolic markers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
