The article examines how three technical and professional communication (TPC) teachers at different postsecondary institutions in the U.S. bring the works of author bell hooks into their TPC courses. Topics discussed include implications of assigning hooks in TPC courses, ways classroom engagement with the works of hooks can teach undergraduate and graduate level students about the social justice implications of TPC, and one important aspect of hook's approach to positionality.
