The article presents an interview with Gisela Heffes, a professor of Latin American literature at Rice University, who has made important contributions to the field of ecocriticism. The development of environmental humanities in Latin America is discussed, highlighting the creation of the concept of "bioecocriticism" as a combination of ecocriticism and biopolitics. The importance of collaboration between art, humanities, and science in researching environmental humanities in Latin America is mentioned, as well as the need to overcome barriers of specialized knowledge and build a collective project in harmony with the human and non-human world. The importance of environmental justice and the creation of alliances and multi-species communities to address ecological inequalities are also discussed. [Extracted from the article]
