Abstract: First record of the Upper Jurassic and of a marine Barremian intercalation in the continental ''redbeds'' from the central Moroccan High Atlas: palaeogeographic and structural implications. Meaningful assemblages of charophytes and ostracods have been collected in the intermediate unit (Iouaridene Formation) of the Jurassic–Cretaceous ''redbeds'' from the central Moroccan High Atlas. In the type locality of the Iouaridene syncline and also in the Ouaouizarht syncline, the lower part of the above-mentioned formation has yielded the charophytes Porochara kimmeridgensis and Dictyoclavator ramalhoi, allowing us to underline for the first time an Upper Jurassic continental sedimentation (Oxfordian?–Kimmeridgian) in the central High Atlas. Moreover, ostracods collected in the upper part of the formation quoted indicate an early marine ingression in the Lower Barremian. These biostratigraphic data allow us to precise the dating for the Dinosaurs'' remains and tracks, to improve the palaeogeographical reconstructions, to recognize the stratigraphic position of two extrusive magmatic events B1 and B2 as well as to constrain the structural and evolutionary patterns of the Atlasic Belt during the Mesozoic period. Résumé: La riche faune d’échinides du Crétacé inférieur du bassin du Haut Atlas atlantique, a été révisée à partir de nouvelles et abondantes récoltes, bien repérées stratigraphiquement. Quarante sept espèces ont été étudiées ; vingt sont signalées pour la première fois dans le bassin, dont trois nouvelles espèces laissées en nomenclature ouverte. Leur extension stratigraphique a été précisée grâce à un bon contrôle biostratigraphique par les ammonites. Ainsi, on a pu établir une échelle biostratigraphique locale fondée sur les échinides, ce qui permettra de les utiliser là où les ammonites sont rares ou absentes. Les Toxasteridae, qui sont très abondants et à évolution assez rapide, sont les plus performants sur le plan biostratigraphique. Le genre Toxaster apparaît dès le Berriasien inférieur et s’étend jusqu’au Gargasien. La succession est la suivante : T. africanus, T. granosus, T. kiliani, T. lorioli, T. exilis, T. retusus, T. obtusus, T. maurus, T. peroni, T. collegnoi. La présence, dans le Haut Atlas atlantique, de représentants des genres Eoholaster, Macraster, Douvillaster, Palhemiaster, Heteraster et Pygopyrina est signalée ici pour la première fois. Abstract: The originality of the sedimentary deposits and ammonite faunas in the jebel Bou Rharraf concerns “Ammonitico Rosso” facies, the westernmost known for the Pliensbachian, and a strong diversity of the Phylloceratida (Phylloceras, Calaiceras, Zetoceras, Partschiceras and Juraphyllites). The morphological disparity is also important in Galaticeras, Miltoceras and Tauromeniceras. If some taxa like Miltoceras taguendoufi and Mauretaniaceras elmii nov. gen., nov. sp. seem endemic to the High Atlas, most part of the Pliensbachien ammonites of the eastern High Atlas are classic for the southern margin of the western Tethys. Three genera (Callomoniceras, Appenninoceras, Mauretaniaceras) and three new species (Miltoceras involutum, Tropidoceras heterogeneum, Mauretaniaceras elmii) are described. An analysis using the “Discrete Cosine Transform” (DCT) method allows the better understanding of the morphospace of the rib patterns for the Fuciniceras from jebel Bou Rharraf. The biostratigraphy of the High Atlas is also improved with a set of 19 biohorizons for the Pliensbachian and the base of the Toarcian that are correlable with the Tethyan areas.
