Streptomyces antibiotic regulatory proteins (SARPs) are well characterized as transcriptional activators for secondary metabolites in Streptomyces species. Streptomyces rochei 7434AN4 harbors 15 SARP genes, among which 3 were located on a giant linear plasmid pSLA2-L and others were on the chromosome. Some SARP genes were cloned into an integrative thiostrepton-inducible vector pIJ8600, and their recombinants were cultivated. The recombinant of SARP gene, SRO_3163, accumulated a UV-active compound YM3163-A, which was not detected in the parent strain and other SARP recombinants. Its molecular formula was established to be C8H11NO. Extensive NMR analysis revealed that YM3163-A is a novel enamide, 2-(cyclohex-2-en-1-ylidene)acetamide, and its structure was confirmed by chemical synthesis including Horner–Wadsworth–Emmons reaction and ammonolysis.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the empowerment of electricity beneficiaries through community empowerment activities following the use of wind and solar renewable energy (PLTH) in Pantai Baru. To achieve these objectives, the data collection in this study was carried out using a structured research questionnaire to 68 PLTH electricity beneficiaries in Pantai Baru, where they are also managers of tourism business in Pantai Baru.This study uses a frequency distribution analysis method to identify: (1) the profile of renewable electricity beneficiaries and (2) determine the extent of empowerment renewable energy electricity beneficiaries in Pantai Baru. The results showed that the characteristics of the beneficiaries were generally of a mature age, had a clear direction of life and goals, and had and adequate level of education. Furthermore, in terms of the empowerment indicators used in this study, they are rated as high. Thus, this study indicates that the community empowerment activities through the development of renewable energy have an impact to the empowerment of PLTH electricity beneficiaries in Pantai Baru.

Malaria is a disease caused by the Plasmodium falciparum parasite carried by female Anopheles mosquitoes. This disease is still a severe threat in eastern Indonesia which is an endemic area of Malaria. A data-driven computer-aided diagnostic approach can be an innovative solution. From the experiment results using the Pre-trained Deep Convolutional Neural Network algorithm that was trained with the transfer learning method, the GoogLeNet model was able to achieve a detection accuracy of 93.89%. In comparison, the ShuffleNet V2 model gained 95.20% accuracy with training times three times faster than GoogLeNet.

Streptomyces rochei 7434AN4 produces two structurally unrelated polyketide antibiotics, lankacidin and lankamycin, and carries three linear plasmids, pSLA2-L (211 kb), -M (113 kb), and -S (18 kb), whose nucleotide sequences were previously reported. The complete nucleotide sequence of the S. rochei chromosome has now been determined using the long-read PacBio RS-II sequencing together with short-read Illumina Genome Analyzer IIx sequencing and Roche 454 pyrosequencing techniques. The assembled sequence revealed an 8,364,802-bp linear chromosome with a high G + C content of 71.7% and 7,568 protein-coding ORFs. Thus, the gross genome size of S. rochei 7434AN4 was confirmed to be 8,706,406 bp including the three linear plasmids. Consistent with our previous study, a tap-tpg gene pair, which is essential for the maintenance of a linear topology of Streptomyces genomes, was not found on the chromosome. Remarkably, the S. rochei chromosome contains seven ribosomal RNA (rrn) operons (16S-23S-5S), although Streptomyces species generally contain six rrn operons. Spatial planning has already been stipulated in Ciliwung Watershed, but its implementation is often not in line with the rapid development activities. To fulfill space demand, agricultural and forest areas are converted into open or built-up areas because the economic appreciation of forest and agricultural land is lower than that of open or built-up areas. Payment for Environmental Services (PES) is a tool designed to overcome environment mismanagement, which is beneficial for the lives of rural communities. PES should be considered in the formulation of spatial planning. This study was aimed to develop optimum land use pattern in reducing flood in Ciliwung Watershed, using PES approach. This study used a dynamic system approach, consisting of submodels for land use pattern change, runoff, value of farmland, upstream subsidy policy, population dynamics and environmental services. The results showed that the PES policy should be able to maintain the existence of paddy fields and dryland farming areas and to reduce runoff if it is implemented in the form of a guaranteed access to the market, and held in conjunction with efforts to prevent land conversion and to implement reforestation policies. The optimum land use pattern under this condition shall be reached in 2023, which consisted of 0.82% water bodies, 10.74% forest areas, 70.34 % built-up areas, 8.16% dryland farming areas, 4.97% grassland areas, 2.39% paddy fields areas and 2.58% open areas. This land use pattern can reduce runoff in Ciliwung River from 972.04 to 850 cm, and this level is considered to be flood-free. Communities living in the upstream areas are the most effective managers of the watershed.

Raja Ampat Regency in West Papua Province, Republic of Indonesia has abundant natural fishery resources. Marine Protected Area (MPA) has been established in marine areas of Raja Ampat Regency. To manage MPA better, measureable parameters and clear indicators are required. The decision on the indicators can be conducted by bioeconomic model approach. The results of research show that the establishment of MPA will increase harvest level and revenue. But “bigger is better” could not be adopted for the development of MPA. The optimal MPA size will contribute to increasing yields and revenue and can reduce the level of effort.
