The application of a wed-based liquid organic fertilizer can increase the production of black soybeans (Glycine Max L. Merril). The study aimed to identify the best source and dose of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) for black soybean growth and yield. The researchers used a three-times-repeated Completely Randomized Design (CRD) using a factorial layout. The first factor was the source of LOF, which included Siam weed (Chromolaena odorata, L.), Goat weed (Ageratum conyzoides L.), and yellow creeping daisy (Wedelia trilobata L.). The second factor was the concentration of weed-based LOF, consisted of water (control treatment); 12 ml/L; 16 ml/L; 20 ml/L. The results of the study show, weed-based LOF, namely LOF Yellow creeping daisy, Goat weed, and Siam weed, resulted in no significant difference in the growth and yield of the black soybean. Except for the variables of root fresh weight and number of pods per plant, the variation in concentration of weed-based liquid organic fertilizer had no significant effect on plant growth and yield.

Soybeans are the third most important commodity after rice and corn. Soybeans are also a commodity rich in protein. Soy serves as a very important source of vegetable protein to improve people's nutrition because in addition to being safe for health is also relatively cheap compared to animal protein sources. Ultisol has a wide distribution but has constraints to be used as a medium of cultivation plants. The addition of some types of ameliorating or soil reformers such as chicken manure, cow manure, and composting oil palm bunches (OPB) is expected to overcome ultisol fertility. The purpose of this study was to compare the influence of varieties on the growth and component of soybean crop yields in Ultisol, compare the influence of ameliorating type on the growth and component of soybean crop yields in Ultisol, and get the interaction between the type of varieties with the type of amelioration to the growth and components of soybean crop yields in Ultisol. The research was conducted from February to May 2019 in the experimental garden of Integrated Agricultural Zone of the Faculty of Agriculture UNIB Medan Baru, Bengkulu City. This study used a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) that was compiled factorially with 3 times. The first factor is the variety type Anjasmoro and Gepak Kuning, the second factor of amelioration type is control (without amelioration), chicken manure 15 tons ha-1, cow manure 15 tons ha-1, husks burn 15 tons ha-1, and compost oil palm bunches (OPB) 15 tons ha-1. The results showed that the Gepak Kuning variety showed better growth than the Anjasmoro variety while the Anjasmoro variety showed better results than the Gepak Kuning variety. Chicken manure is the best type of amelioration compared to cow manure, rice husks, and compost OPB against the growth and component of soybean yields in Ultisol, and there is interaction in the Gepak Kuning variety with chicken manure amelioration and compost OPB.

[GROWTH AND YIELDS OF SORGHUM VARIETIES TREATED WITH VARIOUS DOSES OF NPK FERTILIZER IN COASTAL LAND]. Sorghum has a potential to be developed in marginal land in coastal area. Drought stress and low availability of utrients in the coastal area are the main problems in growing sorghum. Introducing the drought tolerance variety is one solution to overcome the drought stress in coastal land in order to improve sorghum yields. In addition, the treatment of NPK fertilizer is needed to fulfill the nutrients requirements for growth and yields. This research aims to determine the best sorghum variety and an appropriate dose of NPK fertilizer for the growing sorghum in coastal land. Field experiment was conducted at the coastal area in Bengkulu City from August until November 2021. The experiment was arranged in Randomized Completely Blok Design with two factors. That were sorghum varieties (Numbu, Super 2 and Kawali) and NPK fertilizer doses (150 kg/ha, 300 kg/ha and 450 kg/ha). The results showed that the interaction between sorghum variety and NPK fertilizer dose were not significant on the growth and sorghum yields. Numbu varieties produced the highest panicle weight per plant of 69.42 gram. The research concluded that Numbu variety showed the best growth and yields compare two other varieties. The maximum growth and yield of sorghum in coastal land were observed at NPK 450 kg/ha dose.

Soybean is one of the most popular food crops for the community, but the needs for soybeans have not been fulfilled by soybean production. To meet the needs of soybeans, it is necessary to intensify agricultural land in Ultisol. This study aims to obtain the optimum concentration of humic acid and dosage of the Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) to increase soybean plants' production in Ultisols. This research was conducted from January to April 2020 in Beringin Raya Village, Muara Bangkahulu District, Bengkulu City, at an altitude of 10 m above sea level. The research design used a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) two factors with three replications, arranged factorially in experimental units. The first factor is the concentration of humic acid, consisting of 4 levels: 0, 15, 30, and 45 mL L-1 . The second factor is the dose of AMF, consisted of 3 levels, namely: 0, 2.5, and 5 g plant-1. The results showed that the maximum soybean growth and yield in Ultisols were obtained from the humic acid concentration at 45 mL L-1 at the dose of AMF at 2.5 g plant-1 . The resulting production potential is 1.99 tons ha-1 . The administration of humic acid or AMF independently at this research stage had not yet given a maximum response to the growth and yield of soybean in Ultisol.

[POD BORER ATTACK ON SIX SOYBEAN VARIETIES AND THEIR EFFECTS ON YIELD]. This study aims to determine the level of pod borer attack on six soybean varieties and their effects on yields. This research was conducted from December 2017 to March 2018 in the Experimental Field of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu, Kandang Limun Village, Muara Bangkahulu District, Bengkulu City. The experimental design used was a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with the treatment of six soybean varieties (Demas, Argomulyo, Dega, Ringing, Echo, and Dena I) and was repeated 4 times so that there were 24 experimental units. The results showed that the percentage of pod attack on the Demas, Argomulyo, Ringing, Gema, and Dena I varieties was classified as resistant, while the Dega variety was relatively resistant. Whereas the percentage of seed attack in all soybean varieties tested was classified as resistant. Argomulyo varieties have higher resistance to pod borer attack than other varieties because they produce the highest number of trichomes, and the lowest number of larvae per plant. Argomulyo variety produces the highest number of seed weight per plant, and the highest seed weight per plot. The echo variety produces the highest number of total pods, while the Dega variety produces the highest weight of 100 seeds.

Bengkulu Province has many local rice germplasms that have adapted to specific areas. The germplasm has certain character advantages so that it is maintained by farmers. The characteristics of each germplasm need to be identified in order to improve the properties of the existing germplasm. This study aimed to determine the performance, to estimate the value of genetic parameters, and to determine the genetic relationship of local rice genotypes collected from four districts in Bengkulu Province. The results showed that the ‘Kuning Sulaowangi’ genotype was the earliest in maturity had the highest number of tillers amongst genotypes. Genotypes which have significantly the highest average component yields were ‘Kunig Air Dingin’ and ‘Impera’. Traits that have a high heritability estimated value were weight of 100 grains (91.046%) and grain weight per panicle (80.252%). The weight of 100 grains also has the highest genetic variability value. Thus increasing local rice production is possible. Based on the results of the analysis with the similarity coefficient of 55%, the local rice genotypes could be grouped into two groups. Group I consisted of 9 genotypes namely ‘Kuning Pendek’, ‘Humbur’, ‘Cantik’, ‘Pandak Kelabu’, ‘Cisadane Putih’, ‘Kuning Sulaowangi’, ‘China Abang’, ‘China Putih’ and ‘Impera’. Other genotypes were in Group II. Trait improvement can be done through hybridization between individuals of different groups. To develope early in maturity and high-yielding varieties can be done through hybridization of the ‘Kunig Sulaowangi’ and ‘Kunig Air Dingin’

[IMPACT OF THE TILLAGE SYSTEM AND OIL PALM EMPTY FRUIT BUNCH MULCH ON GROWTH, YIELD OF SWEET CORN (Zea mays saccharata) AND GROUNDWATER SYSTEM]. This study aims to determine the impact of land management and the use of oil palm empty fruit bunches (TKKS) mulch. This research was conducted from August to October 2018, arranged in a split plot design with two factors. As a first factor, land management consists of unprocessed, plowed, and plowed and harrowed. The treatment of oil palm empty fruit bunches mulch as the second factor consisted of no mulch, 9 tonnes/ha of mulch, 12 tonnes/ha of mulch, and 15 tonnes/ha of mulch. Plant variables observed consisted of plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, fresh plant weight, plant dry, ear weight, ear length, ear diameter. Soil variables observed were the redistribution of groundwater and infiltration. The results showed no significant interaction between the tillage system and the application of oil palm empty fruit bunch mulch on all observed variables. Treatment without tillage or mulch dose of 12 tons/ha can provide growth and yield of sweet corn plants better than other treatments. The highest water content and infiltration rate were obtained from the dosage of oil palm empty bunches mulch 15 tons/ha. Soil cultivation by plowing and harrowing produces the highest infiltration rate compared to lower tillage intensities. About 18% to 42% of the diversity of growth and yield of sweet corn plants have a significant relationship with the diversity of groundwater.

A common problem related to the production of potatoes in Indonesia is the use of poor quality seed sources and declining seeds. Plant tissue culture is one of the best methods used for the provision of quality seeds. This study aims to establish the best combination of BAP concentration and the concentration of paclobutrazol in spurring the growth of cuttings and initiation of potato tubers in vitro.This research was conducted in November 2017 until June 2018 at Agronomy Laboratory of Biotechnology Division and Plant Culture Network of Agriculture Faculty of Bengkulu University. The research design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consist of 18 combination of BAP treatment and Paclobutrazol was repeated 6 times. The concentration of BAP used was 0 mg / l, 5 mg / l, 10 mg / l and the concentration of Paclobutrazol 0 mg / l; 2.5 mg / l; 5 mg / l; 7.5 mg / l; 10 mg / l; 12.5 mg / l. The data of the research were analyzed by F test of 5% level and if there were different between treatments followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) test of5% level. The results showed that the combination of BAP and Paclobutrazol concentration had significant effect on all observed variables. Treatment of 5 mg / l BAP and 7.5 mg / l Paclobutrazol is the best medium in inducing potato micro tube as indicated by the fastest tuber formation time, highest percentage of productive crops, largest number of tubers per bottle, number of tubers per productive plant, tuber diameter the largest and highest wet weight of tuber per bottle. [UTILIZATION OF MICROBE TO INCREASE GROWTH AND YIELDS OF SOYBEAN IN COASTAL LAND. This study aims to obtain the right combination of varieties and biofertilizers to increase soybean productivity on Bengkulu coastal land. The research was conducted from March to July 2017, located in Beringin Raya Village, Muara Bangkahulu Sub-District, Bengkulu. The study was conducted with a split-plot design which was repeated three times. The main plot is two soybean varieties (Grobogan and Wilis). The subplots are two types of biological fertilizers, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, and phosphate solvent fungi. The results showed that the results of the seed weight of the Grobogan variety (equivalent to 3.38 tons/ha) were significantly higher than the Wilis variety (equivalent to 2.72 tons/ha). However, the Wilis variety showed an increase in seed weight (equivalent to 1.12 tons/ha) higher than the Grobogan variety (equivalent to 0.61 tons/ha) according to the description of each variety. The combination of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and phosphate solvent fungi showed superior performance than arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi fertilizer or phosphate solvent fungi. The interaction of Grobogan varieties with a combination of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and phosphate solvent fungi produced the highest seed weight (equivalent to 3.52 tons/ha) which was statistically similar to the interaction of Grobogan varieties and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (equivalent to 3.45 tons/ha). The economics of resources using arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi are not required to be combined with phosphate solvent fungi.

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the most important crops commodity in Indonesia because it is the main staple for the people of Indonesia but currently, in Indonesia, the production of rice is still not maximal so it can not meet the demand of Indonesian people for national food needs. Therefore, it is necessary for rice plants that have high production and tolerant to various stresses. Plant breeding is one of the ways that can be done to increase the production of rice, one of which is the method of cross-recurring selection. Genetic diversity is a variation of characteristics that are inherited in the same species population. This study aims to obtain information about genetic diversity and agro-morphological characters of 50 genotypes rice derived from the recurrent selection. This research was conducted from August until December 2017 in Rawa Makmur Village, Bengkulu Province with the height of place from sea level ± 2 m. The study used a Completely Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 3 replications. The seeds used were 50 genotypes of rice from previous cross-selection results from Bugis/N-22 crossbreeds, Bugis/IR-7858-1, Sriwijaya/N-148, Sriwijaya/IR-7858-1. The results showed that the genetic diversity of rice is quite narrow to moderate, but there are some rice characters that have medium to high heritability value that was plant height, harvesting age, flowering age, the total number of tillers and panicle length, so that character can be used for the next generation rice selection. The genotypes produced by Bugis/IR-7858-1 crosses have panicle length, filled grain per panicle, and high grain weight/hill resulting in high yield potential.

Since the productivity of soybean in Indonesia is still low, a new innovation is needed to improve it. The objectives of this study are to determine a pattern of the stomatal opening of soybean’s leaves which exposed by high-frequency sound waves with different duration time and age of soybean plants. This study was carried out at the Experimental Farm Agriculture Faculty and Biology Laboratory of Science Faculty of the Islamic University of Malang, East Java in April to August 2013.The first factor was duration time of the exposure which consist of three levels: 20 minutes (D1), 40 minutes (D2) and 60 minute (D3).The second factor was the age of the soybean which consist of three levels: 15 days after planting (dap) (A1), 25 dap (A2) and 35 dap (A3). The soybean plants were exposure by the 5000 hertz frequency. The variables measured consisted of stomatal opening width, plant height, leaf area, fresh weight of pods, fresh weight of seed, oven dry weight of beans and harvest index. Increase of the duration time of exposure of high frequency sound waves by 20 to 60 minutes, tends to decrease the width of stomatal opening. The treatment of duration of exposure by 40 minutes at the age of 15 dap had the highest soybean grain yield by 24.10 g.plant-1, equivalent to 3.93 ton.ha-1. The relationship between the widths of the stomatal opening with soybean production showed no significant correlation. The results of this study suggest that maintaining stomatal opening at optimum width through the manipulation of high-frequency sound waves will increase the yield of soybean plants.
