Commercializing of algal bio-fuel is the major challenge due to proficient harvesting in current scenario. Several species of the algae contain a high concentration of lipids and necessitate simple cultivation methods than usual crops for the conversion of bio-fuels. Algae have the capability to make many biofuels such as bioethanol, biodiesel, bio-hydrogen, etc. Algae bio mass have potential in terms of ‘energy’, but there is challenge in having a feasible balanced energy in algae bio-fuel development operations. Extra challenges of algal harvesting appear from the minute structure of algal cell, comparison of density in the algal cells to the augmentation medium, the pessimistic surface indict on the algal and micro-algae enlargement process which necessitate numerous harvesting compared to the earthbound plants. Centrifugation sedimentation, flotation, filtration and flocculation or a blend of these are main methods of algal harvesting. This paper reviews different methods of harvesting of algae & potential growth of algal biofuel.
