Abstract

The conformational changes and dynamics of the cytoplasmic loops during activation of rhodopsin are analyzed using time-resolved fluorescence depolarization technique. Two accessible and reactive sulfhydryl groups of the native cysteines C140 and C316 measurements show marked differences with a large decrease in motional freedom in M(sub)II.
