Unresourceful usage of rainwater continues to be a serious problem as this type of natural resource is still treated as wastewater that most often ends up directly in the sewer system. The aim of the article is to present a concept of sustainable rainwater management within a completed housing estate in Cracow (Poland). Sustainable solutions are proposed, such as rain gardens, soakaways, permeable surfaces, and infiltration boxes, limiting the surface runoff, feasible for implementation in an existing development. Their efficacy was shown by estimating the runoff reduction and two financial assessments: (1) the required investment costs converted to costs per 1 m2 of residential area and as per 1 household, and (2) the assessment of financial profitability by the rate of return and the payback period, which are the basic tool for making decisions by potential investors: developers and residents. On the cost side, investment costs are included, and on the benefit side, savings resulting from the reduction of national and municipal rainwater fees. The analysis also aims to examine the incentive nature of these fees. National rainwater drainage fees, which have been introduced to encourage rainwater retention, have low non-incentive rates and the potential benefits of reducing them maybe around 1% of investment capital, which gives a payback period of almost 100 years. Higher rates of municipal fees are more motivating for investors, the proposed concept of rainwater management can potentially bring savings of around 9% (rate of return), and investment can be recovered within 12 years.

The consumption of honey in Indonesia at this time averages only consume 40 grams-60grams of honey per capita per year. Many economic actors are trying to innovate in the processing and packaging of honey, one of them is CV. Cakra Surya Nusantara which is located in the city of Kediri, East Java. The purpose of this research is to (1) analyze the feasibility of honey packaging business CV Cakra Surya Kencana, Kediri, East Java Judging by the potential aspects of market and marketing, management/organizational aspects, engineering/operations (production process); (2) Analyzing the business feasibility of the financial aspects that include Payback Period (PP), Average Rate of Return (ARR), Net Present Value (NPV), and Profitability Index (PI).The research methods used are quantitative descriptive research because this method of research presents data that is more accurate, simple, and easier to understand. The aspects researched are market and marketing aspects, management/organizational aspects, technical/operating aspects, and financial aspects. The data collected is the primary data and secondary data. Primary Data is obtained through interviews and observations in the field. Analysis of market and marketing aspects showed that the prospects of honey production business CV Cakra Surya Nusantara is quite good, judging by the increase in the number of honey product demand each month. The availability of raw materials is adequate and the marketing mix is quite good.

Although Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) are used in cities across the world as effective flood adaptation responses, their economic viability has frequently been questioned. Inclusion of the monetary value of ecosystem services (ES) provided by SuDS can increase the rate of return on investments made. Hence, this paper aims at reviewing the enhancement of the economic value of large-scale investments in SuDS through inclusion of ecosystem services. This study focuses on the flood reduction capacity and the ES benefits of green roofs and rain barrels in the combined sewerage network of Montevideo Municipality in Uruguay. The methodology comprises a cost–benefit analysis—with and without monetised ES provided by SuDS—of two drainage network configurations comprising: (i) SuDS; and (ii) SuDS and detention storage. The optimal drainage design for both these drainage configurations have been determined using SWMM-EA, a tool which uses multi-objective optimisation based evolutionary algorithm (EA) and the storm water management model (SWMM). In both design configurations, total benefits comprising both flood reduction and ES benefits are always higher than their costs. The use of storage along with SuDS provides greater benefits with a larger reduction in flooding, and thus is more cost-effective than using SuDS alone. The results show that, for both of the drainage configurations, the larger investments are not beneficial unless ES benefits are taken into account. Hence, it can be concluded that the inclusion of ES benefits is necessary to justify large-scale investments in SuDS.
