In this paper, a discrete-time dynamic duopoly model, with nonlinear demand and cost functions, is established. The properties of existence and local stability of equilibrium points have been verified and analyzed. The stability conditions are also given with the help of the Jury criterion. With changing of the values of parameters, the system shows some new and interesting phenomena in terms to stability and multistability, such as V-shaped stable structures (also called Isoperiodic Stable Structures) and different shape basins of attraction of coexisting attractors. The eye-shaped structures appear where the period-doubling and period-halving bifurcations occur. Finally, by utilizing critical curves, the changes in the topological structure of basin of attraction and the reason of "holes" formation are analyzed. As a result, the generation of global bifurcation, such as contact bifurcation or final bifurcation, is usually accompanied by the contact of critical curves and boundary. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Based on the oligopoly game theory and the intellectual property rights protection policy, we investigate the complex dynamical behaviors of a mixed duopoly game with quadratic cost. In the new system, a few parameters are improved by considering intellectual property rights protection and the stability conditions of the Nash equilibrium point are discussed in detail. A set of the two-dimensional bifurcation diagrams is demonstrated by using numerical modeling, and these diagrams show abundant complex dynamical behaviors, such as coexistence of attractors, different bifurcation, and fractal structures. In this paper, a mixed duopoly dynamic model with bounded rationality is built, where a public-private joint venture and a private enterprise produce homogeneous products and compete in the same market. The purpose of this research is to study the stability and the multistability of the established model. The local stability of all the equilibrium points is discussed by using Jury condition, and the stability region of the Nash equilibrium point has been given. A special fractal structure called "hub of periodicity" has been found in the two-parameter space by numerical simulation. In addition, the phenomena of multistability (also called coexistence of multiple attractors) are also studied using basins of attraction and 1-D bifurcation diagrams with adiabatic initial conditions. We find that there are two different coexistences of multiple attractors. And, the fractal structure of the attracting basin is also analyzed, and the formation mechanisms of "holes" and "contact" bifurcation have been revealed. At last, the long-term profits of the enterprises are studied. We find that some enterprises can even make more profits under a chaotic circumstance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Based on the oligopoly game theory, a dynamic duopoly Cournot model with bounded rationality and consumer surplus is established. On the one hand, the type and the stability of the boundary equilibrium points and the stability conditions of the Nash equilibrium point are discussed in detail. On the other hand, the potential complex dynamics of the system is demonstrated by a set of 2D bifurcation diagrams. It is found that the bifurcation diagrams have beautiful fractal structures when the adjustment speed of production is taken as the bifurcation parameter. And it is verified that the area with scattered points in the 2D bifurcation diagrams is caused by the coexistence of multiple attractors. It is also found that there may be two, three or four coexisting attractors. It is even found the coexistence of Milnor attractor and other attractors. Moreover, the topological structure of the attracting basin and global dynamics of the system are investigated by the noninvertible map theory, using the critical curve and the transverse Lyapunov exponent. It is concluded that two different types of global bifurcations may occur. Because of the symmetry of the system, it can be concluded that the diagonal of the system is an invariant one-dimensional submanifold. And it is controlled by a one-dimensional map which is equivalent to the classical Logistic map. The bifurcation curve of the system on the adjustment speed and the weight of the consumer surplus is obtained based on the properties of the Logistic map. Abstract In this paper, a dynamical two-stage Cournot duopoly game with R&D spillover effect and product differentiation is established. The stability of all the equilibrium points is studied using Jury criterion, and then the stability condition is given. The direction of flip bifurcation is given by using central manifold theorem and norm form theory. By numerical simulation, two routes to chaos are studied through 2-D bifurcation diagram, one of which is flip bifurcation and the other is Neimark-Sacker bifurcation at period-2 point. The system will lose its stability as the speed of adjustment increases. In addition, a common nonlinear phenomenon named intermittent chaos is observed in the built model. Two types of intermittent chaos are displayed in time series plots and phase diagrams, one of which is PM-III intermittent chaos and the other is induced by crisis. And then four types of coexistence of attractors are illustrated through basin of attraction, which are coexistence of periodic attractor and chaotic attractor, coexistence of multiple chaotic attractors, coexistence of periodic attractor, quasi-periodic attractor and chaotic attractor, and coexistence of multiple periodic attractors, respectively.
