The irruption of information and communication technologies in fields of the economy has allowed an increase in innovation and this, as a catalyst of the digital economy generates a growth in scientific research. The objective of this study was to analyze the international scientific production in Sciencedirect (Scopus) on digital economy during 2008-2018. Bibliometric indicators were used: article productivity by year, author productivity, productivity by language, author collaboration, timeliness of scientific production and keyword analysis. The methodology was based on the selection of key words and search criteria; normalization; systematization and analysis of the information. A total of 819 articles by 497 authors, published in 279 journals, were analyzed. An accelerated growth of international publications on this subject was observed. The main topics addressed on the digital economy were identified, which provides opportunities for future research that can analyze this phenomenon from new perspectives. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
