Perdita subgenus Heteroperdita Timberlake, a distinctive subgenus of 22 species from the southwestern United States and adjacent Mexico, all specialists on Tiquilia (Boraginaceae), is revised. Nine new species are described: Perdita (Heteroperdita) desdemona Portman, sp. n., P. (H.) exusta PortmanGriswold, sp. n., P. (H.) hippolyta PortmanGriswold, sp. n. (male previously incorrectly described as P. pilonotata Timberlake), P. (H.) hooki PortmanNeff, sp. n., P. (H.) nuttalliae Portman, sp. n., P. (H.) prodigiosa PortmanGriswold, sp. n., P. (H.) sycorax Portman, sp. n., P. (H.) titania PortmanGriswold, sp. n., and P. (H.) yanegai Portman, sp. n. The following sexes are associated and described for the first time: the male of P. (H.) frontalis Timberlake, 1968, the female of P. (H.) optiva Timberlake, 1954, and the true male of P. (H.) pilonotata Timberlake, 1980. Perdita (H.) fasciatella Timberlake, 1980 is proposed as a junior synonym of P. (H.) sexfasciata Timberlake, 1954. A neotype is designated for P. (H.) pilonotata Timberlake, 1980. Two species in particular, P. prodigiosa and P. pilonotata, are sexually dimorphic with distinctive ant-like males. Information is presented on floral relationships, phenology, and geographic distribution. Identification keys for males and females are provided.

The resin bees of the genus Anthidiellum Cockerell, 1904 are revised for China. Seven species are confirmed to occur in China including five new combinations: A. (Pycnanthidium) carinatum (Wu, 1962) comb. nov., A. (P.) coronum (Wu, 2004a) comb. nov., A. (P.) latipes (Bingham, 1897) comb. nov., A. (Clypanthidium) popovii (Wu, 1962) comb. nov., and A. (Anthidiellum) yunnanensis (Wu, 1962) comb. nov.. These five species had previously been classified as Trachusa (Paraanthidium), which is characterized by much larger-bodied bees (only four species of Trachusa (Paraanthidium) are confirmed to occur in China after this study; others reported in the literature were misplaced to genus). Additionally, Anthidiellum ludingensis Wu, 1993, and Anthidiellum (Anthidiellum) xinjiangensis Wu, 2004b, are removed from Anthidiellum forming the new combinations Pseudoanthidium (Pseudoanthidium) ludingense (Wu, 1993) and P. (P.) xinjiangense (Wu, 2004b), thus extending the range of the genus in China to include Sichuan. Illustrations and a key to known Chinese Anthidiellum species are provided.

The Sub-Saharan bee genus Serapista Cockerell is revised. It comprises six species. Serapista pernigra Cockerell is restored as a valid species, S. aspernigra Eardley and Griswold, new species, is described from the eastern part of southern Africa and Serapista rhodesiana Mavromoustakis is synonymized with S. pernigra. Descriptions, keys for identification, distributional records and floral associations of the species of Serapista are given.

The monotypic Perdita subgenus Xeromacrotera Timberlake is currently known only from the male sex. Here, the female of Perdita (Xeromacrotera) cephalotes (Cresson, 1878) is associated, resulting in two new junior synonyms of P. (X.) cephalotes: Perdita (Procockerellia) excellens Timberlake, 1958, new synonym and Perdita (Cockerellia) autumnalis Timberlake, 1977, new synonym. The true number of maxillary palpi are reported, and updated subgeneric and species diagnoses are provided. In addition, Perdita boharti PortmanGriswold, new name, is designated as a replacement name for the primary junior homonym P. bohartorum Parker, 1983 (not P. bohartorum Timberlake, 1956) and is assigned to the related subgenus Cockerellia Ashmead.

Descriptions and diagnoses of ten new Nearctic species of Stelis subgenus Stelis are presented: S. alta, S. anasazi, S. anthocopae, S. broemelingi, S. imperialis, S. joanae, S. lamelliterga, S. occidentalis, S. paiute, and S. shoshone. Six of these species have been reared from trapnests. Host associations, all within the tribe Osmiini (Megachilidae), are provided.

The southern African bee genus Plesianthidium Cameron is revised. It comprises twelve species. Two new species are described: Plesianthidium (Spinanthidium) richtersveldense sp. nov. (Namibia and South Africa) and P. (S.) namaquaense sp. nov. (South Africa). Two species, Plesianthidium calvini (Cockerell, 1932) and P. rufocaudatum (Friese, 1909), are reinstated as valid species. Keys for the identification of the species of Plesianthidium are given.

The orchid bee genus Eufriesea Cockerell is documented for the first time from the southwestern United States, extending its apparent range north well beyond its previous tropical/subtropical boundaries. Eufriesea coerulescens (Lepeletier de Saint Fargeau 1841) is recorded from the Guadalupe Mountains of western Texas and southeastern New Mexico, USA. Whether E. coerulescens is resident in the USA, or merely a vagrant from Mexico, remains unclear. Distinctive morphological traits shared with the holotype are enumerated and illustrated. In addition, observations that question the current species concept and distribution of E. coerulescens are provided.

The rare genus Trachusoides, previously known only from a single species inhabiting the Western Ghats of India, is reviewed. Trachusoides elsieae, new species, is described from Laos, additional records for T. simplex are documented, and a key to separate the species is provided.
