Abstract

Highlights: [•] Banded Iron Formation of the Arabian-Nubian Shield (ANS BIF) was deposited ∼750Ma. [•] Deposition was cyclic (alternating Fe-rich and Si-rich bands) and rapid (soft-sediment slumping). [•] ANS-BIF is associated with metavolcanic and volcaniclastic sedimentary rocks.
