An editorial is presented on authorship, contributorship, and acknowledgements. Topics include that the Consortia Advancing Standards in Research Administration Information has developed a taxonomy for assigning credit to authors in science publications named CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy); and the inclusion of methodology, project administration, and writing part of review & editing.

Writing researchers know relatively little about the needs and experiences of faculty writers. As a result, institutional approaches to improving scholarly productivity fail to account for vital components of writerly development and in doing so limit access to the academic enterprise. Drawing on an interview- based longitudinal study of faculty writers and the construct of selfauthorship from the field of human development, this article reveals epistemological, interpersonal and intrapersonal dimensions of faculty writer development. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to identify the research contributions of authors and subauthors in order to outline how authorship, as opposed to acknowledgment, is awarded in the lab-based life sciences.Design/methodology/approach The work tasks described in author contribution statements and acknowledgments sections of research articles published in Nature Chemical Biology were classified according to a three-layered taxonomy: core layer; middle layer; outer layer.Findings Most authors are core or middle layer contributors, i.e. they perform at least one core or middle layer task. In contrast, most subauthors are outer layer contributors. While authors tend to be involved in several tasks, subauthors tend to make single contributions. The small but significant share of authors performing only outer layer tasks suggests a disconnect in author attribution between traditional author guidelines and scientific practice. A level of arbitrariness in whether a contributor is awarded authorship or subauthorship status is reported. However, this does not implicate first or last authorships.Research limitations/implications Data from one journal only are used. Transferability is limited to research in high impact journals in the lab-based life sciences.Originality/value The growth in scientific collaboration underlines the importance of gaining a deeper understanding of the distinction between authorship and subauthorship in terms of the types of research contributions that they de facto represent. District Administration has long been the hub for government services for the masses residing in urban areas. A wide range of useful services to citizens are provided from the Deputy Commissioner (DC) offices which include control and supervision of revenue, maintenance of public order and security, license and certificates, land acquisitions, census, relief and rehabilitation, social welfare, pension matters, education and public examinations, public complaints and enquiries. By providing these services, the DC office is poised to represent the Central Government at the grassroots. Newly installed District e-Service Centre (DESC) promises to bring about qualitative changes in the service delivery at the urban centers of Bangladesh. The editor provides guidelines for writing articles for the Journal of Wildlife Management. Guidelines regarding the title of articles, authorship and writing of abstracts are provided. It also includes guidelines for the paper's introduction section, the study area and the study methods. Results, acknowledgements and literature citing guidelines are also provided.

The article offers the authors insights on ghost authorship in biomedical publishing. Topics discussed include the criteria to become an author from the policy of International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the study published by the "British Medical Journal" (BMJ) on the assessment of prevalence of honorary authorship and ghost authorship in general medical journals, and the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Annual Meeting on October 27, 2013.

The article discusses the plagiarisms, which varies from copying original works of a person until the similar wording of previously published material has been used. Topics discussed include the utilization of data without proper acknowledgement and credits, most common forms of plagiarism are verbatim plagiarism and paraphrasing, and accusations of self-plagiarism.

The author reflects on the impact of generous acknowledgment of readers to the works of publication writers. The author shares his experience of receiving email from a reader offering favorable comment on his essay, which led him to jot down notes during conferences to let the speakers know his appreciation of the ideas shared. According to the author, a writer's goal is to share valuable ideas, but knowing that one's written work has been read and appreciated brings ego gratification.
