Abstract

The article focuses on cataloging services that the Bibliothèque nationale de France (Bnf) offers to French libraries. The bibliographic records, authority files, and other resources are free of charge for French libraries. The article argues that municipal libraries could create a catalog of local holdings by using resources that have already been created and standardized. This would allow libraries to spend more time creating collections and services that are tailored for their library patrons.
