Cultural tourism is directly linked to the cultural and historical basis of an area, relative quality and quantity of cultural monuments and cultural buildings and the manifestation. Development of cultural tourism is necessary to agree with the basic principles of sustainable tourism. Sustainable tourism is a peak in the management of all resources in a way that economic, social and aesthetic needs can be fulfilled while maintaining cultural integrity, essential ecological processes and biological diversity and maintenance systems of the living world is a new and higher quality set of rules and principles in tourism development. Vrbas municipality is a good basis for the development of cultural tourism, but it takes place in the cultural heritage feature of sustainable tourism development, and create this type of tourism activities and as independent as the integral of the total tourist offer.

Increasing interest in the preserved nature caused the emergence of ecotourism as epoch-making tourism activities with minimal impact on environment of tourist destinations and locality. Natural features and protected natural resources of the Middle Banat a good basis for the development of ecotourism, but it is necessary to serious and responsible approach in the planning of tourism development potentials into new usable value.

Indicators that should express all forms of sustainable development of rural tourism are analyzed in this paper. These are primarily indicators of economic efficiency, technological development, social success and ecological sustainability. The objective of this paper is to indicate the need and method for the creation of modern programmes for the development of rural and ethno tourism and projects of tourist activity and offer, based on the sustainable development principles. It also indicates standard procedures for integral control of ethno-tourist programmes and projects. These indicators can be used both in analytical parts of plans and development programmes, and also in control of the implementation of these plans and programmes. It is preferable that these indicators should show the real state with elements showing potentials and limitations. It is recommended that these indicators should be expressed in a quantitative form whenever possible. However, even in developed societies the methodology of quantification of sustainable development indicators has not been developed enough, leaving the possibility for imprecise evaluation of development potentials.

The aim of this article is presentation a realistic status of environment elements in specific reservation of nature Stari Begej - Carska Bara. This article is present exchanged status of elements whose after effect operated the tourism activity. Principles of protection is present, too. Specific reservation of nature is area which comprehend one or more extra value of nature. Principles of protection are necessary for route, control and following. Cilj rada je prezentacija recentnog stanja elemenata životne sredine specijalnog rezervata prirode Stari Begej - Carska Bara, prikaz izmenjenog stanja prouzrokovanog delovanjem turističkih aktivnosti i predlog mera za zaštitu rezervata. Specijalni rezervat prirode je predeo u kome je posebno izražena jedna ili više prirodnih vrednosti, pa je potrebno posebno štititi, pratiti ili usmeravati.
