We derive the phase error of a hologram that is due to the imperfection of a wave plate, the azimuth angle error of a wave plate, and the azimuth angle error of a linear polarizer and analyze the effect of the phase error with a modified triangular interferometer of the three-dimensional image reconstruction of a hologram. We present and experimentally test a new passive-device incoherent holographic system that removes the bias and the conjugate image. The system is based on the triangular interferometer with the modification of insertion of simple passive devices and can easily be extended for obtaining real-time complex holograms without bias and conjugate images for moving objects. A scheme for real-time reconstruction of the complex hologram is also presented and experimentally tested. We derived the point-spread function (PSF) including the recording and reconstruction systems of the modified triangular interferometer; the modified triangular interferometer forms incoherent holograms without bias and the conjugate image. We also derived and analyzed the resolution of the modified triangular interferometer and compared it with that of the conventional one for amplification factor, wavelength, and hologram size.
