This article presents information on Second Summer Conference on Intercultural/International of the Speech Communication Association to be held at the University of South Florida, Tampa on July 17 to 21, 1978. The conference will have as its keynote speaker, John C. Merrill, distinguished professor, School of Journalism, University of Missouri and author, whose recent books in this area are Ethics and the Press, and International and Intercultural Communication. He will speak on The Free Flow of News and Western Communication Imperialism: Divergent Views on Ethics in Intercultural Communication. The theme of the conference is Intercultural Communication Check-up: Ethics, Responsibility and Standards. Nobleza C. Asuncion-Lande, University of Kansas, Chairperson of the Conference, announced that there will be two plenary sessions, three working groups, more than 20 different program presentations, seven workshops and a short course on intercultural communication. The program includes invited and competitively judged papers, most of which reflect the theme of the conference. The plenary sessions will deal with the subject of ethics as well as with the latest developments in education, training, and research in intercultural communication.
