The presente study searched for convergente validity evidence between three instruments for assessment of phonological awareness: Roteiro de Avaliação da Consciência Fonológica (RACF), Prova de Consciência Fonológica por Produção Oral (PCFO) and Consciência Fonológica: Instrumento de Avaliação Sequencial (CONFIAS). Previous studies have performed convergent validity analyzes between RACF and PCFO, but did not include CONFAS. Considering that CONFIAS is one of the most used instruments in studies on phonological awareness in Brazil, studies of convergence validity that include it become relevant. The study included 131 children of both sexes, aged between 6 and 8, attending six classes from the first to the third grade of elementary school - two classes from each school year - from a public school located in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro. Participants were assessed individually using the RACF, PCFO and CONFIAS instruments. Regarding performance, children showed better results in RACF, then in CONFIAS and worse results in PCFO. The results indicate that the RACF may be more suitable for the screening of phonemic skills and CONFIAS may be more appropriate for a more complete assessment of syllabic and phonemic skills. As for convergent validity, there was a significant, positive and strong correlation between the scores of the three instruments, namely, RACF versus PCFO (r = 0.63), RACF versus CONFIAS (r = 0.69) and PCFO versus CONFIAS (r = 0.85), in addition, the instruments with the best correlation were CONFIAS and PCFO, possibly due to the type of tasks involved. Thus, it is concluded that the three instruments have convergence between them. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
