Hospital cost analysis (HCA) becomes a key topic and forefront of politics, social welfare and medical discourse. HCA includes a wide range of expenses; yet the foremost attention relates to the money expense in which hospital managers would like to draw a figure of incomes in the past and future. Based on the HCA results, they can develop many plans for improving hospital's service quality and investing in potential healthcare services in order to deliver better services with lower costs. Machine learning methods are often opted for prediction in HCA. In this paper, we propose a new method for HCA that uses genetic algorithm (GA) and artificial neural network (ANN). Operators of GA are used to boost up calculation to get optimal weights in the forward propagation of ANN. Experiments on a real database of Hanoi Medical University Hospital (HMUH) including calculus of kidney and ureter inpatients show that the new method achieves better accuracy than the relevant ones including linear regression, K-nearest neighbors (KNN), ANN and deep learning. The mean squared error of the proposed model gets the lowest value (0.00360), compared to those of deep learning, KNN and linear regression which are 0.00901, 0.01205 and 0.01718 respectively. Shear strength of the soil is an important engineering parameter used in the design and audit of geo-technical structures. In this research, we aim to investigate and compare the performance of four machine learning methods, Particle Swarm Optimization - Adaptive Network based Fuzzy Inference System (PANFIS), Genetic Algorithm - Adaptive Network based Fuzzy Inference System (GANFIS), Support Vector Regression (SVR), and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), for predicting the strength of soft soils. For this purpose, case studies of 188 plastic clay soil samples collected from two major projects, Nhat Tan and Cua Dai bridges in Viet Nam have been used for generating training and testing datasets for constructing and validating the models. Validation and comparison of the models have been carried out using RMSE, and R. The results show that the PANFIS has the highest prediction capability (RMSE = 0.038 and R = 0.601), followed by the GANFIS (RMSE = 0.04 and R = 0.569), SVR (RMSE = 0.044 and R = 0.549), and ANN (RMSE = 0.059 and R = 0.49). Artificial neural network (ANN) has been well applied in pattern recognition, classification and machine learning thanks to its high performance. Most ANNs are designed by a static structure whose weights are trained during a learning process by supervised or unsupervised methods. These training methods require a set of initial weights values, which are normally randomly generated, with different initial sets of weight values leading to different convergent ANNs for the same training set. Dealing with these drawbacks, a trend of dynamic ANN was invoked in the past year. However, they are either too complex or far from practical applications such as in the pathology predictor in binary multi-input multi-output (MIMO) problems, when the role of a symptom is considered as an agent, a pathology predictor's outcome is formed by action of active agents while other agents' activities seem to be ignored or have mirror effects. In this paper, we propose a new dynamic structural ANN for MIMO problems based on the dependency graph, which gives clear cause and result relationships between inputs and outputs. The new ANN has the dynamic structure of hidden layer as a directed graph showing the relation between input, hidden and output nodes. The properties of the new dynamic structural ANN are experienced with a pathology problem and its learning methods' performances are compared on a real well known dataset. Abstract: In this paper, we propose an integrated approach between fuzzy C-means (FCM) and multi-active neuro fuzzy inference system (MANFIS) for the lossless DEM compression for fast retrieval (DCR) problem, aiming to compress digital elevation model (DEM) data with the priority of fast retrieval from the client machine over the Internet environment. Previous researches of this problem either used the float wavelet transforms integrated with the SPIHT coding or constructed a predictor model using statistical correlation of DEM data in local neighborhoods; thus giving large-sized compressed data and slow transferring time of data between the server and the client. Based on the observation that different non-linear transforms for predictive values in the sliding windows may increase the compression ratio, we herein present a novel approach for DCR problem and validated it experimentally on the benchmark DEM datasets. Human emotion analysis is one of the challenging tasks in today's scenario. The success rate of human emotion recognition has high implication in practical applications such as Human Machine Interaction, anomaly detection, surveillance, etc. Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) is one of the highly favored computational intelligence techniques for human emotion recognition. However, the performance of traditional ANN is not satisfactory in case of applications such as human emotion analysis. This leads to the necessity of modified ANN with better performance than the conventional systems. In this paper, we propose Circular Back Propagation Neural Network (CBPN) and Deep Kohonen Neural Network (DKNN) to overcome drawbacks of the traditional neural networks regarding computational complexity and accuracy. Performance of the proposals is explored in classifying different emotions of humans using Electroencephalography (EEG) signals. Production of electricity from the burning of fossil fuels has caused an increase in the emission of greenhouse gases. In the long run, greenhouse gases cause harm to the environment. To reduce these gases, it is important to accurately forecast electricity production, supply and consumption. Forecasting of electricity consumption is, in particular, useful for minimizing problems of overproduction and oversupply of electricity. This research study focuses on forecasting electricity consumption based on time series data using different artificial intelligence and metaheuristic methods. The aim of the study is to determine which model among the artificial neural network (ANN), adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS), least squares support vector machines (LSSVMs) and fuzzy time series (FTS) produces the highest level of accuracy in forecasting electricity consumption. The variables considered in this research include the monthly electricity consumption over the years for different countries. The monthly electricity consumption data for seven countries, namely, Norway, Switzerland, Malaysia, Egypt, Algeria, Bulgaria and Kenya, for 10 years were used in this research. The performance of all of the models was evaluated and compared using error metrics such as the root mean squared error (RMSE), average forecasting error (AFE) and performance parameter (PP). The differences in the results obtained via the different methods are analyzed and discussed, and it is shown that the different models performed better for different countries in different forecasting periods. Overall, it was found that the FTS model performed the best for most of the countries studied compared to the other three models. The research results can allow electricity management companies to have better strategic planning when deciding on the optimal levels of electricity production and supply, with the overall aim of preventing surpluses or shortages in the electricity supply. The reasons for consumers' resale behavior are complex and sometimes diverse, and the investigation of consumer resale behavior is not a simple matter. Therefore, only through a lot of investigation and inquiry can we reach relevant conclusions. Based on machine learning and BP neural network, this paper constructs a consumer online resale behavior measurement model. The contraction-expansion factor can balance the global search and local search capabilities in different iteration periods, and the differential evolution operator is introduced to solve the problem of lack of population diversity. After building the model, this study collects data through questionnaires, and combines neural network training models to take data training and data prediction. In addition, this study compares and analyzes real data with predicted data, and visually displays the comparison results through statistical graphs. Remote sensing applications are playing a vital role to improve the commercial satellite imagery with high resolution. In the spatial information system, object detection is the basic needs for computing the mathematical model. Geographical object related analysis for the image is used to gather data from remote sensing images. In this paper, we propose an Adaptive Convolutional Neural Network model using N-gram for Spatial Object Recognition on Satellite Images. Our methodology needs a learning model for the structures in the images to gather the data using prior knowledge. N-gram uses the functionalities of learning models. Spatial object recognition is performed using the learning method to segment the images with the human subjects that can increase their understanding of including the perception, cognition and decision. The result obtained for two stage of image processing is collected, and a relationship to psychological and mathematical basis is made. The results show that convinced association relevant level to the human perception is serving additional to identify the spatial objects. The experimentation is performed in MATLAB software where the results proved that our methodology is superior suitable for precise object detection and recognition on dissimilar levels of satellite images. In this study, we developed Different Artificial Intelligence (AI) models namely Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Adaptive Network based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) for the prediction of Compression Coefficient of soil (Cc) which is one of the most important geotechnical parameters. A Monte Carlo approach was used for the sensitivity analysis of the AI models and input parameters. For the construction and validation of the models, 189 soft clayey soil samples were analyzed. In the models study, 13 input parameters: depth of sample, bulk density, plasticity index, moisture content, clay content, specific gravity, void ratio, liquid limit, dry density, porosity, plastic limit, degree of saturation, and liquidity index were used to obtain one output parameter "Cc". Validation of the models was done using statistical methods such as Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), and Coefficient of determination (R2). Results of the model validation indicate that though performance of all the three models is good but SVM model is the best in the prediction of Cc. The Monte Carlo method based sensitivity analysis results show that out of the 13 input parameters considered for the models study, four parameters namely clay, degree of saturation, specific gravity and depth of sample are the most relevant in the prediction of Cc, and other parameters (bulk density, dry density, void ratio and porosity) are the most insignificant parameters for the prediction of Cc. Removal of these insignificant parameters helped to reduce the dimension of the input space and also model running time, and improved significantly the performance of the AI models. The results of this study might help in selecting the suitable AI models and input parameters for better and quick prediction of the Cc of soil. Disease diagnosis from medical images has become increasingly important in medical science. Abnormality identification in retinal images has become a challenging task in medical science. Effective machine learning and soft computing methods should be used to facilitate Diabetic Retinopathy Diagnosis from Retinal Images. Artificial Neural Networks are widely preferred for Diabetic Retinopathy Diagnosis from Retinal Images. It was observed that the conventional neural networks especially the Hopfield Neural Network (HNN) may be inaccurate due to the weight values are not adjusted in the training process. This paper presents a new Modified Hopfield Neural Network (MHNN) for abnormality classification from human retinal images. It relies on the idea that both weight values and output values can be adjusted simultaneously. The novelty of the proposed method lies in the training algorithm. In conventional method, the weights remain fixed but the weights are changing in the proposed method. Experimental performed on the Lotus Eye Care Hospital containing 540 images collected showed that the proposed MHNN yields an average sensitivity and specificity of 0.99 and accuracy of 99.25%. Coefficient of consolidation (Cv) is an important parameter in the designing of civil engineering structures founded on soil. Determination of the Cv in the laboratory is beset with complexity, therefore several attempts have been made to correlate it with the index properties of soil. In this paper, various advanced soft computing approaches namely Biogeography-Based Optimization based Artificial Neural Networks (ANN-BBO), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Adaptive Network based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS), and Support Vector Machines (SVM) were applied for quick and accurate prediction of the Cv of soft soil. For this, data of engineering properties of soil of Ha Noi–Hai Phong highway project of Vietnam was utilized as a case study for training and validating the models. Data pre-processing techniques namely correlation matrix and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) were applied in order to identify relevant variables for reducing data dimension while doing predictive analysis. Validation of the models was performed using statistical criteria namely Coefficient of determination (R2), Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE). Monte Carlo simulation method was performed to estimate the robustness of the models. Comparison of results of these models indicated that all the studied models performed well but performance of the ANN-BBO model (R2 = 0.965, RMSE = 0.149, and MAE = 0.108) is the best in predicting the Cv of soil compared with other models such as ANFIS (R2 = 0.921, RMSE = 0.222, and MAE = 0.182), ANN (R2 = 0.922, RMSE = 0.302, and MAE = 0.178), and SVM (R2 = 0.949, RMSE = 0.199, and MAE = 0.112).
