The pulp and paper industry is critical to global industrial and economic development. Recently, India's pulp and paper industries have been facing severe competitive challenges. The challenges have impaired the environmental performance and resulted in the closure of several operations. Assessment and prediction of the performance of the Indian pulp and paper industry using various parameters is a critical task for researchers. This study proposes a framework for performance assessment and prediction based on Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), Artificial Neural Networks, and Deep Learning (DL) to assist industry administration and decision-making. We presented a case study based on eight industries to demonstrate the methodology's applicability. This study analyses and predicts industry performance based on sample data observations over 30 years. The result suggests the DEA-DL-based efficiency prediction has an overall MSE of 0.08 compared with the actual efficiency. Furthermore, the efficiency rankings are compared between the three techniques. The results suggest that the integrated DEA-DL method is primarily accurate in most scenarios with the actual values. Background: In low-middle income countries, healthcare providers primarily use paper health records for capturing data. Paper health records are utilized predominately due to the prohibitive cost of acquisition and maintenance of automated data capture devices and electronic medical records. Data recorded on paper health records is not easily accessible in a digital format to healthcare providers. The lack of real time accessible digital data limits healthcare providers, researchers, and quality improvement champions to leverage data to improve patient outcomes. In this project, we demonstrate the novel use of computer vision software to digitize handwritten intraoperative data elements from smartphone photographs of paper anesthesia charts from the University Teaching Hospital of Kigali. We specifically report our approach to digitize checkbox data, symbol-denoted systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and physiological data. Methods: We implemented approaches for removing perspective distortions from smartphone photographs, removing shadows, and improving image readability through morphological operations. YOLOv8 models were used to deconstruct the anesthesia paper chart into specific data sections. Handwritten blood pressure symbols and physiological data were identified, and values were assigned using deep neural networks. Our work builds upon the contributions of previous research by improving upon their methods, updating the deep learning models to newer architectures, as well as consolidating them into a single piece of software. Results: The model for extracting the sections of the anesthesia paper chart achieved an average box precision of 0.99, an average box recall of 0.99, and an mAP0.5-95 of 0.97. Our software digitizes checkbox data with greater than 99% accuracy and digitizes blood pressure data with a mean average error of 1.0 and 1.36 mmHg for systolic and diastolic blood pressure respectively. Overall accuracy for physiological data which includes oxygen saturation, inspired oxygen concentration and end tidal carbon dioxide concentration was 85.2%. Conclusions: We demonstrate that under normal photography conditions we can digitize checkbox, blood pressure and physiological data to within human accuracy when provided legible handwriting. Digital systems storing cadastral data in vector format are considered effective due to their ability of offering interactive services to citizens and other land-related systems. The adoption of such systems is ubiquitous, but when adopted, they create two non-compatible systems with paper-based cadastral systems whose information needs to be digitised. This study proposes a new approach that is fast and accurate for transforming paper-based cadastral data into digital systems. The proposed method involves deep-learning techniques of the LCNN and ResNet-50 for detecting cadastral parcels and their numbers, respectively, from the cadastral plans. It also contains four functions defined to speed up transformations and compilations of the cadastral plan's data in digital systems. The LCNN is trained and validated with 968 samples. The ResNet-50 is trained and validated with 106,000 samples. The Structural-Average-Precision ( sAP 10 ) achieved with the LCNN was 0.9057. The Precision, Recall and F1-Score achieved with the ResNet-50 were 0.9650, 0.9648 and 0.9649, respectively. These results confirmed that the new method is accurate enough for implementation, and we tested it with a huge set of data from Tanzania. Due to the increasing size of integrated circuits (ICs), their design and optimization phases (i.e., computer-aided design, CAD) grow increasingly complex. At design time, a large design space needs to be explored to find an implementation that fulfills all specifications and then optimizes metrics like energy, area, delay, reliability, etc. At run time, a large configuration space needs to be searched to find the best set of parameters (e.g., voltage/frequency) to further optimize the system. Both spaces are infeasible for exhaustive search typically leading to heuristic optimization algorithms that find some tradeoff between design quality and computational overhead. Machine learning (ML) can build powerful models that have successfully been employed in related domains. In this survey, we categorize how ML may be used and is used for design-time and run-time optimization and exploration strategies of ICs. A metastudy of published techniques unveils areas in CAD that are well explored and underexplored with ML, as well as trends in the employed ML algorithms. We present a comprehensive categorization and summary of the state of the art on ML for CAD. Finally, we summarize the remaining challenges and promising open research directions. Significant Wave Height (SWH) is crucial in many aspect of ocean engineering. The accurate prediction of SWH has therefore been of immense practical value. Recently, Artificial Intelligence (AI) time series prediction methods have been widely used for single-point short-term SWH time-series forecasting, resulting in many AI-based models claiming to achieve good results. However, the extent to which these complex AI models can outperform traditional methods has largely been overlooked. This study compared five different models - AutoRegressive (AR), eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGB), Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and WaveNet - for their performance on SWH time series prediction at 16 buoy locations. Surprisingly, the results suggest that the differences of performance among different models are negligible, indicating that all these AI models have only "learned" the linear auto-regression from the data. Machine learning (ML), a form of artificial intelligence (AI), is being increasingly employed in neurology. Reported performance metrics often match or exceed the efficiency of average clinicians. The neurologist is easily baffled by the underlying concepts and terminologies associated with ML studies. The superlative performance metrics of ML algorithms often hide the opaque nature of its inner workings. Questions regarding ML model's interpretability and reproducibility of its results in real-world scenarios, need emphasis. Given an abundance of time and information, the expert clinician should be able to deliver comparable predictions to ML models, a useful benchmark while evaluating its performance. Predictive performance metrics of ML models should not be confused with causal inference between its input and output. ML and clinical gestalt should compete in a randomized controlled trial before they can complement each other for screening, triaging, providing second opinions and modifying treatment. Background: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) emerge in various organisms, ranging from viruses to humans, and play crucial regulatory roles within cells, participating in a variety of biological processes. In numerous prediction methods for miRNA-disease associations, the issue of over-dependence on both similarity measurement data and the association matrix still hasn't been improved. In this paper, a miRNA-Disease association prediction model (called TP-MDA) based on tree path global feature extraction and fully connected artificial neural network (FANN) with multi-head self-attention mechanism is proposed. The TP-MDA model utilizes an association tree structure to represent the data relationships, multi-head self-attention mechanism for extracting feature vectors, and fully connected artificial neural network with 5-fold cross-validation for model training. Results: The experimental results indicate that the TP-MDA model outperforms the other comparative models, AUC is 0.9714. In the case studies of miRNAs associated with colorectal cancer and lung cancer, among the top 15 miRNAs predicted by the model, 12 in colorectal cancer and 15 in lung cancer were validated respectively, the accuracy is as high as 0.9227. Conclusions: The model proposed in this paper can accurately predict the miRNA-disease association, and can serve as a valuable reference for data mining and association prediction in the fields of life sciences, biology, and disease genetics, among others. Deep learning, a crucial technique for achieving artificial intelligence (AI), has been successfully applied in many fields. The gradual application of the latest architectures of deep learning in the field of time series forecasting (TSF), such as Transformers, has shown excellent performance and results compared to traditional statistical methods. These applications are widely present in academia and in our daily lives, covering many areas including forecasting electricity consumption in power systems, meteorological rainfall, traffic flow, quantitative trading, risk control in finance, sales operations and price predictions for commercial companies, and pandemic prediction in the medical field. Deep learning-based TSF tasks stand out as one of the most valuable AI scenarios for research, playing an important role in explaining complex real-world phenomena. However, deep learning models still face challenges: they need to deal with the challenge of large-scale data in the information age, achieve longer forecasting ranges, reduce excessively high computational complexity, etc. Therefore, novel methods and more effective solutions are essential. In this paper, we review the latest developments in deep learning for TSF. We begin by introducing the recent development trends in the field of TSF and then propose a new taxonomy from the perspective of deep neural network models, comprehensively covering articles published over the past five years. We also organize commonly used experimental evaluation metrics and datasets. Finally, we point out current issues with the existing solutions and suggest promising future directions in the field of deep learning combined with TSF. Point cloud registration is the process of aligning and merging multiple point clouds into a same coordinate system. It has many applications in computer vision, robotics, 3D reconstruction, augmented reality, and autonomous driving. Despite its wide-ranging utility, traditional algorithms grapple with challenges such as substantial noise, outliers, limited overlap, motion distortions, and handling large scenes. These complexities impede the effective deployment of point cloud registration in practical real-world scenarios. This paper conducts a comprehensive inquiry into the domain of deep learning-based point cloud registration. It synthesizes recent advancements in algorithms about point cloud registration grounded in deep learning. The exposition delineates insights from four distinct perspectives: multi-layer perceptron, deep neural network, graph convolutional network, and attention mechanism. Furthermore, the paper systematically reviews prevalent datasets and evaluation metrics associated with deep learning-based point cloud registration. De-mining operations are of critical importance for humanitarian efforts and safety in conflict-affected regions. In this paper, we address the challenge of enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of mine detection systems. We present an innovative Deep Learning architecture tailored for pulse induction-based Metallic Mine Detectors (MMD), so called DL-MMD. Our methodology leverages deep neural networks to distinguish amongst nine distinct materials with an exceptional validation accuracy of 93.5%. This high level of precision enables us not only to differentiate between anti-personnel mines, without metal plates but also to detect minuscule 0.2-g vertical paper pins in both mineralized soil and non-mineralized environments. Moreover, through comparative analysis, we demonstrate a substantial 3% and 7% improvement (approx.) in accuracy performance compared to the traditional K-Nearest Neighbors and Support Vector Machine classifiers, respectively. The fusion of deep neural networks with the pulse induction-based MMD not only presents a cost-effective solution but also significantly expedites decision-making processes in de-mining operations, ultimately contributing to improved safety and effectiveness in these critical endeavors. This paper investigates a method for precise mapping of human arm movements using sEMG signals. A multi-channel approach captures the sEMG signals, which, combined with the accurately calculated joint angles from an Inertial Measurement Unit, allows for action recognition and mapping through deep learning algorithms. Firstly, signal acquisition and processing were carried out, which involved acquiring data from various movements (hand gestures, single-degree-of-freedom joint movements, and continuous joint actions) and sensor placement. Then, interference signals were filtered out through filters, and the signals were preprocessed using normalization and moving averages to obtain sEMG signals with obvious features. Additionally, this paper constructs a hybrid network model, combining Convolutional Neural Networks and Artificial Neural Networks, and employs a multi-feature fusion algorithm to enhance the accuracy of gesture recognition. Furthermore, a nonlinear fitting between sEMG signals and joint angles was established based on a backpropagation neural network, incorporating momentum term and adaptive learning rate adjustments. Finally, based on the gesture recognition and joint angle prediction model, prosthetic arm control experiments were conducted, achieving highly accurate arm movement prediction and execution. This paper not only validates the potential application of sEMG signals in the precise control of robotic arms but also lays a solid foundation for the development of more intuitive and responsive prostheses and assistive devices. In order to solve the problem of untimely monitoring of tool wear status during laser-ultrasonic compound cutting (LUCC), which leads to the reduction of process accuracy and product quality damage, a method of tool wear status monitoring based on acoustic emission (AE) and deep learning is proposed in this paper. The AE signal is collected and analyzed in the frequency and time-frequency domains by using Fourier transform (FT) and wavelet packet decomposition (WPD), it is found that the AE signal energy is mainly concentrated in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th frequency bands, and the energy of each frequency band in the signal increases gradually when the tool wear degree increases, however, the percentage of energy of each frequency band in the total energy shows different change trend. According to the amount of flank wear of the tool, the tool wear degree is divided into four tool wear states. The SVM model and BP neural network model were established based on MATLAB software to realize the tool wear state monitoring. The results show that the tool wear monitoring based on BP neural network is better than that of SVM for tool wear status monitoring. Background: Accurate segmentation of lung nodules is crucial for the early diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer in clinical practice. However, the similarity between lung nodules and surrounding tissues has made their segmentation a longstanding challenge. Purpose: Existing deep learning and active contour models each have their limitations. This paper aims to integrate the strengths of both approaches while mitigating their respective shortcomings. Methods: In this paper, we propose a few‐shot segmentation framework that combines a deep neural network with an active contour model. We introduce heat kernel convolutions and high‐order total variation into the active contour model and solve the challenging nonsmooth optimization problem using the alternating direction method of multipliers. Additionally, we use the presegmentation results obtained from training a deep neural network on a small sample set as the initial contours for our optimized active contour model, addressing the difficulty of manually setting the initial contours. Results: We compared our proposed method with state‐of‐the‐art methods for segmentation effectiveness using clinical computed tomography (CT) images acquired from two different hospitals and the publicly available LIDC dataset. The results demonstrate that our proposed method achieved outstanding segmentation performance according to both visual and quantitative indicators. Conclusion: Our approach utilizes the output of few‐shot network training as prior information, avoiding the need to select the initial contour in the active contour model. Digital technologies sustain today's world. Every part of the world is working towards digital technologies, which none of us can eliminate. This paper presents a novel sound event detection (SED) system for rare events occurring in an open environment. Wavelet multiresolution analysis (MRA) is used to decompose the input audio clip of 30 seconds into five levels. Wavelet denoising is then applied on the third and fifth levels of MRA to filter out the background. Significant transitions, which may represent the onset of a rare event, are then estimated in these two levels by combining the peak-finding algorithm with the K-medoids clustering algorithm. The small portions of one-second duration, called 'chunks' are cropped from the input audio signal corresponding to the estimated locations of the significant transitions. Features from these chunks are extracted by the wavelet scattering network (WSN) and are given as input to a support vector machine (SVM) classifier, which classifies them. The proposed SED framework produces an error rate comparable to the SED systems based on convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture. Also, the proposed algorithm is computationally efficient and lightweight as compared to deep learning models, as it has no learnable parameter. It requires only a single epoch of training, which is 5, 10, 200, and 600 times lesser than the models based on CNNs and deep neural networks (DNNs), CNN with long short-term memory (LSTM) network, convolutional recurrent neural network (CRNN), and CNN respectively. The proposed model neither requires concatenation with previous frames for anomaly detection nor any additional training data creation needed for other comparative deep learning models. It needs to check almost 360 times fewer chunks for the presence of rare events than the other baseline systems used for comparison in this paper. Despite the complex punching shear behavior of reinforced concrete slabs have been comprehensively addressed in the literature, it is further essential to develop a universal design model comprising high accuracy and the simplicity for design practicability, adaptable to diverse conditions encountered in practice. Artificial intelligence applications, artificial neural networks (ANN), and more recently, various machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques veer off in a new direction in structural engineering context with improved accuracy and efficiency. The paper begins with the assessment of the capabilities of various artificial intelligence applications in predicting the punching shear strength of slab-column connections without shear reinforcement through the extensive database using 650 punching shear experiments from the literature. Critical parameters influencing the punching shear strength as well as the precision of the current code provisions in predicting this feature were then thoroughly examined in the paper. The results shown in this paper validated the competency of artificial intelligence applications in predicting the punching shear strength of such connections with increased accuracy and improved simplicity in practical terms. Deep neural networks are extensively used in text mining and Natural Language Processing is to enable computers to understand, analyze, and generate natural language data, such as text or speech, but semantic resources, such as taxonomies and ontologies, are not fully included in deep learning. In this paper, we use Deep Convolutional Neural Network (Deep CNN) to classify research papers using the Computer Science Ontology, an ontology of research areas in the field of computer science. It takes as input the abstract and keywords of a particular research paper and returns the relevant research topic. To evaluate our ontology, we used a gold standard dataset that includes research articles. To further improve text classification results, we propose to design a Deep CNN model. We then used ontology matching to reduce the classes and get better results. Experimental results show that the proposed approach outperforms the one with the highest precision, recall, and F1-score. Simple Summary: This paper presents a novel approach to produce virtual contrast enhanced (VCE) images for nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) without the use of contrast agents, which carry certain risks. This paper introduces a novel approach for virtual contrast enhancement (VCE) in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), particularly focusing on nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC). Methods: The proposed model, Pixelwise Gradient Model with GAN for Virtual Contrast Enhancement (PGMGVCE), makes use of pixelwise gradient methods with Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) to enhance T1-weighted (T1-w) and T2-weighted (T2-w) MRI images. This approach combines the benefits of both modalities to simulate the effects of gadolinium-based contrast agents, thereby reducing associated risks. Various modifications of PGMGVCE, including changing hyperparameters, using normalization methods (z-score, Sigmoid and Tanh) and training the model with T1-w or T2-w images only, were tested to optimize the model's performance. Results: PGMGVCE demonstrated a similar accuracy to the existing model in terms of mean absolute error (MAE) (8.56 ± 0.45 for Li's model; 8.72 ± 0.48 for PGMGVCE), mean square error (MSE) (12.43 ± 0.67 for Li's model; 12.81 ± 0.73 for PGMGVCE) and structural similarity index (SSIM) (0.71 ± 0.08 for Li's model; 0.73 ± 0.12 for PGMGVCE). In this paper, we discuss the implementation of artificial self-awareness mechanisms and self-reflection abilities in deep neural networks. While the current limitations of research prevent achieving cognitive capabilities on par with natural biological entities, the incorporation of basic self-awareness and self-reflection mechanisms in deep learning architectures offers substantial advantages in tackling specific problems across various scientific fields, including geosciences. In the first section, we outline the foundational architecture of our deep learning approach termed Self-Aware Learning (SAL). The subsequent part of the paper highlights the practical benefits of this machine learning methodology through synthetic tests and applications addressed to automatic classification and image analysis of real petrological data sets. Over the last few years, a plethora of papers presenting machine-learning-based approaches for intrusion detection have been published. However, the majority of those papers do not compare their results with a proper baseline of a signature-based intrusion detection system, thus violating good machine learning practices. In order to evaluate the pros and cons of the machine-learning-based approach, we replicated a research study that uses a deep neural network model for intrusion detection. The results of our replicated research study expose several systematic problems with the used datasets and evaluation methods. In our experiments, a signature-based intrusion detection system with a minimal setup was able to outperform the tested model even under small traffic changes. Testing the replicated neural network on a new dataset recorded in the same environment with the same attacks using the same tools showed that the accuracy of the neural network dropped to 54%. Recent technological developments have enabled computers to identify and categorize facial expressions to determine a person's emotional state in an image or a video. This process, called "Facial Expression Recognition (FER)", has become one of the most popular research areas in computer vision. In recent times, deep FER systems have primarily concentrated on addressing two significant challenges: the problem of overfitting due to limited training data availability, and the presence of expression-unrelated variations, including illumination, head pose, image resolution, and identity bias. In this paper, a comprehensive survey is provided on deep FER, encompassing algorithms and datasets that offer insights into these intrinsic problems. Initially, this paper presents a detailed timeline showcasing the evolution of methods and datasets in deep facial expression recognition (FER). This timeline illustrates the progression and development of the techniques and data resources used in FER. Then, a comprehensive review of FER methods is introduced, including the basic principles of FER (components such as preprocessing, feature extraction and classification, and methods, etc.) from the pro-deep learning era (traditional methods using handcrafted features, i.e., SVM and HOG, etc.) to the deep learning era. Moreover, a brief introduction is provided related to the benchmark datasets (there are two categories: controlled environments (lab) and uncontrolled environments (in the wild)) used to evaluate different FER methods and a comparison of different FER models. Existing deep neural networks and related training strategies designed for FER, based on static images and dynamic image sequences, are discussed. The number of papers on machine learning and deep neural networks applied to intrusion detection systems (IDS) is ever-increasing. Differently from existing work on the topic, this paper explores the effect of training-time randomness of deep neural networks, which is overlooked by the related literature. Training-time randomness is regulated by the seed of the pseudorandom number generator, and affects the performance of IDS models. The seed selection is studied in conjunction with other critical learning parameters: to the best of our knowledge, there are no similar studies in IDS. The experiments are done with a recent and widely consolidated intrusion detection benchmark, which is used to train and test a neural network under different combinations of seeds and parameters both in supervised and semi-supervised learning modes. The results are inferred by a mixture of explorative analysis, design of experiments, and analysis of variance. According to the results, the choice of the seed yields either excellent or scarce detection metrics; more importantly, the seed selection might be as relevant as the other major learning parameters assessed. Flettner rotors are wind propulsion systems using the Magnus effect to generate thrust, thereby reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions in the ships. However, rotor unbalance can cause excessive vibrations and energy loss, affecting the performance and stability of the system. There is a need to have a system onboard, which can predict the vibrations. The paper proposes a deep learning approach to predict the vibrations and unbalanced forces of a Flettner rotor based on the data of ECO Flettner rotor onboard the vessel MV Fehn pollux. The paper develops two methods to estimate the direction and magnitude of the unbalanced forces using the reading values of the strain gauges. The work also compares two recurrent neural network models, namely Long-short term memory and Gated Recurrent Unit, for vibration prediction and evaluates their performance using Mean Absolute Error and Root Mean Squared Error metrics. The results show that Longshort term memory model outperforms Gated Recurrent Unit model in prediction accuracy and can be implemented on the system onboard to monitor and prevent rotor unbalance. Large deep learning models are impressive, but they struggle when real-time data is not available. Few-shot class-incremental learning (FSCIL) poses a significant challenge for deep neural networks to learn new tasks from just a few labeled samples without forgetting the previously learned ones. This setup can easily leads to catastrophic forgetting and overfitting problems, severely affecting model performance. Studying FSCIL helps overcome deep learning model limitations on data volume and acquisition time, while improving practicality and adaptability of machine learning models. This paper provides a comprehensive survey on FSCIL. Unlike previous surveys, we aim to synthesize few-shot learning and incremental learning, focusing on introducing FSCIL from two perspectives, while reviewing over 30 theoretical research studies and more than 20 applied research studies. From the theoretical perspective, we provide a novel categorization approach that divides the field into five subcategories, including traditional machine learning methods, meta learning-based methods, feature and feature space-based methods, replay-based methods, and dynamic network structure-based methods. We also evaluate the performance of recent theoretical research on benchmark datasets of FSCIL. From the application perspective, FSCIL has achieved impressive achievements in various fields of computer vision such as image classification, object detection, and image segmentation, as well as in natural language processing and graph. Deep neural networks have achieved outstanding performance in computer vision tasks. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) typically operate in the spatial domain with raw images, but in practice, images are usually stored and transmitted in their compressed representation where JPEG is one of the most widely used encoder. Also, these networks are computationally intensive and slow. This paper proposes performing the learning and inference processes in the compressed domain in order to reduce the computational complexity and improve the speed of popular CNNs. For this purpose, a novel graph-based frequency channel selection method is proposed to identify and select the most important frequency channels. The computational complexity is reduced by retaining the important frequency components and discarding the insignificant ones as well as eliminating the unnecessary layers of the network. Experimental results show that the modified ResNet-50 operating in the compressed domain is up to 70% faster than the spatial-based traditional ResNet-50 while resulting in similar classification accuracy. Moreover, this paper proposes a preprocessing step with partial encoding to improve the resilience to distortions caused by low-quality encoded images. Finally, we show that training a network with highly compressed data can achieve a good classification accuracy with up to 93% reduction in the storage requirements of the training data. The accurate quantification of concentration fluctuations is crucial when evaluating the exposure to toxic, infectious, reactive, flammable, or explosive substances, as well as for the estimation of odor nuisance. However, in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), the industry currently relies predominantly on steady-state RANS turbulence models for simulating near-field pollutant dispersion, which are only capable of producing the time-averaged concentration field. This paper presents a regression relationship for calculating the standard deviation of the local concentration based on the mean concentration and the downstream distance from a point source, over a city-like surface, in the case of the wind direction perpendicular to the streets. The desired peak values and other statistical characteristics can be predicted by assuming a gamma distribution which is fitted based on the average and standard deviation. To obtain the regression function, a deep neural network model was used. The model was trained using timeresolved concentration data obtained from wind tunnel experiments. The validation results show that the concentration fluctuations predicted by the DNN-based model are in satisfactory agreement with the measurement data in terms of the skewness, the kurtosis, the median, and the peak concentrations. Furthermore, the present paper suggests a workflow for estimating the concentration fluctuations based on RANS CFD results, as well as recommendations for generating further training data for specific applications. This paper proposes a novel approach, BTC-SAGAN-CHA-MRI, for the classification of brain tumors using a SAGAN optimized with a Color Harmony Algorithm. The pre-processed images then undergo the Improved Non-Sub sampled Shearlet Transform (INSST) for extracting radiomic features. These features are fed into the SAGAN, which is optimized with a Color Harmony Algorithm to categorize the brain images into different tumor types, including Gliomas, Meningioma, and Pituitary tumors. This innovative approach shows promise in enhancing the precision and efficiency of brain tumor classification, holding potential for improved diagnostic outcomes in the field of medical imaging. In this paper, we aim to numerically resolve linear and nonlinear transient heat conduction problems in multilayer composite materials using a deep learning method called multi-domain physics-informed neural networks (MDPINNs). For this purpose, the multilayer media are first divided into independent sub-domains based on domain decomposition technique. The single-layer deep neural networks are first established, and each sub-domain has its corresponding sub-network. Then, each two sub-networks are connected by continuity conditions on the interface to form a MDPINNs' framework that can directly solve the transient heat conduction problem in multilayer media. The temperature distribution in the computational domain can be obtained by training the MDPINNs, including the temperature values on the interface. A series of numerical experiments are carried out to verify that the proposed framework can achieve satisfactory accuracy, including in micrometer or even nanometer structures. The accidental leakage of gaseous hydrogen from hydrogen refueling station facilities has the potential to result in a large fire and explosion catastrophe. The ability to forecast the spatiotemporal evolution of hydrogen plumes in real-time is crucial for monitoring the distribution of plume concentrations and mitigating the risk of fire and explosion. The utilization of deep learning has been extensively employed in a diverse range of spatiotemporal forecasting tasks. However, these approaches encounter limitations in accurately quantifying uncertainty when predicting spatiotemporal concentrations and plume boundaries. This research paper introduces a novel model called DPSTNN_H 2 Evolution, which is a deep probabilistic spatial-temporal neural network designed for forecasting the spatiotemporal evolution of hydrogen plumes. The benchmark dataset is constructed by the implementation of numerical simulations pertaining to the inadvertent leak of hydrogen within a hydrogen refueling station. The findings of the study indicate that incorporating quantified uncertainty information might enhance the precision of plume boundaries and the resilience of plume concentrations when predicting the spatiotemporal development of hydrogen. By employing Monte Carlo sampling with a sample size of m = 100 and a dropout rate of p = 0.1 , the model demonstrates the ability to provide real-time inference for 10 instances of plumes, while maintaining a high level of accuracy with R2 = 0.9829. In comparison to the current state-of-the-art model, the proposed model demonstrates superior accuracy and robustness in forecasting the spatiotemporal evolution of hydrogen plumes. PIN diodes, due to their simple structure and variable resistance characteristics under high-frequency high-power excitation, are often used in radar front-end as limiters to filter high power microwaves (HPM) to prevent its power from entering the internal circuit and causing damage. This paper carries out theoretical derivation and research on the HPM effects of PIN diodes, and then uses an optimized neural network algorithm to replace traditional physical modeling to calculate and predict two types of HPM limiting indicators of PIN diode limiters. We proposes a neural network model for each of the following two prediction scenarios: in the scenario of time-junction temperature curves under different HPM irradiation, the weighted mean squared error (MSE) between the predicted values from the test dataset and the simulated values is below 0.004. While in predicting PIN limiter's power limitation threshold, insertion loss, and maximum isolation under different HPM irradiation, the MSE of the test set prediction values and simulation values are all less than 0.03. The increasing reliance on internet-based services has heightened the vulnerability of network infrastructure to cyberattacks, particularly distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. These attacks can cause severe disruptions and significant financial losses. Early detection of malicious traffic is crucial in effectively combating such threats. This paper presents an innovative approach called the Encoder-Stacked deep neural networks (E-SDNN) model, which leverages Stacked/bagged multi-layer perceptrons (MLP) for accurate DDoS attack detection. Parkinson's disease (PD) is a condition that degenerates over time and impairs speech and pronunciation because brain cells have died. This research work aims to predict parkinson disease using the voice features extracted from speech signals recorded from PD individuals with dysphonic speech disorders by employing deep learning algorithms. PD is challenging to diagnose early on in the clinical presentation. To address the issue in machine learning methods, this paper proposes a neural network model by processing speech signals to classify PD using the University of California Irvine (UCI) machine learning repository dataset. Initially, a pre-loss reduction module is created by using pre-sampling to make the dataset balanced by reducing the dimensionality and maintaining the size of the space without influencing the learning process for data preparation. The relevant features are derived using a novel multi-agent salp swarm (MASS) algorithm, and a novel Parkinson classification neural network (PCNN) is proposed to classify Parkinson's patients with high accuracy employing these derived features. The result shows that the models that use MASS-PCNN produce higher classification accuracy of 99.1%, precision of 97.8%, recall of 94.7% and F1-score of 0.995 when paralleled to the existing models. The prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) has surged in recent years, making it the foremost cause of mortality among humans. The Electrocardiogram (ECG), being one of the pivotal diagnostic tools for cardiovascular diseases, is increasingly gaining prominence in the field of machine learning. However, prevailing neural network models frequently disregard the spatial dimension features inherent in ECG signals. In this paper, we propose an ECG autoencoder network architecture incorporating low-rank attention (LRA-autoencoder). It is designed to capture potential spatial features of ECG signals by interpreting the signals from a spatial perspective and extracting correlations between different signal points. Additionally, the low-rank attention block (LRA-block) obtains spatial features of electrocardiogram signals through singular value decomposition, and then assigns these spatial features as weights to the electrocardiogram signals, thereby enhancing the differentiation of features among different categories. Finally, we utilize the ResNet-18 network classifier to assess the performance of the LRA-autoencoder on both the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia and PhysioNet Challenge 2017 datasets. The experimental results reveal that the proposed method demonstrates superior classification performance. U-net models were employed to segment the boundaries of the epithelial layer, and supporting convolutional neural networks were used for identification of the imaging field and artifacts. Non-cancerous, precancerous, and cancerous pathologies across the oral cavity were evaluated. This paper aims to simplify the application of optical coherence tomography (OCT) for the examination of subsurface morphology in the oral cavity and reduce barriers towards the adoption of OCT as a biopsy guidance device. The aim of this work was to develop automated software tools for the simplified analysis of the large volume of data collected during OCT. Imaging and corresponding histopathology were acquired in-clinic using a wide-field endoscopic OCT system. An annotated dataset (n = 294 images) from 60 patients (34 male and 26 female) was assembled to train four unique neural networks. A deep learning pipeline was built using convolutional and modified u-net models to detect the imaging field of view (network 1), detect artifacts (network 2), identify the tissue surface (network 3), and identify the presence and location of the epithelial–stromal boundary (network 4). The area under the curve of the image and artifact detection networks was 1.00 and 0.94, respectively. The Dice similarity score for the surface and epithelial–stromal boundary segmentation networks was 0.98 and 0.83, respectively. In recent years, research on infrared and visible image fusion has mainly focused on deep learning‐based approaches, particularly deep neural networks with auto‐encoder architectures. However, these approaches suffer from problems such as insufficient feature extraction capability and inefficient fusion strategies. Recurrent neural networks (RNNs) are widely utilized in neural network research to capture spatiotemporal features in video data. However, their effectiveness heavily relies on the spatial features upon which they trained. This paper introduces innovative ensembles of features for constructing frame-wise structures by employing impactful neural network models with innovative training pipelines. These features are designed to enhance the recognition of hand gesture videos using RNN by leveraging temporal information. Recognizing hand gestures from videos is a complex task that presents considerable challenges. One notable challenge is the overlap in gesture motion, where different gesture categories exhibit similar hand poses within a single video clip. To overcome this issue, we were motivated to develop extensive and diverse features that offer a more comprehensive description of the gesture video clips, thereby mitigating recognition problems caused by images overlapping. Overall, our efforts to generate diverse features have yielded promising results in enhancing the recognition of hand gestures from videos, particularly in scenarios where overlap poses a significant challenge. We have combined the extracted features from a deep neural network trained from scratch with features obtained from various standard neural networks (Self-Organizing Map, Radial Base Function) that are trained to enhance the deep-trained features. The mutual arrangement for combining the shared features has configured new frame-wise image features. Furthermore, we have provided a performance comparison of the newly constructed frame-wise features through time-sharing to train RNN for recognition. The proposed models have been evaluated on two-hand gesture video datasets, where a preserving gesture sequence is crucial due to overlapping motions. Deep learning has achieved immense success in computer vision and has the potential to help physicians analyze visual content for disease and other abnormalities. However, the current state of deep learning is very much a black box, making medical professionals skeptical about integrating these methods into clinical practice. Several methods have been proposed to shed some light on these black boxes, but there is no consensus on the opinion of medical doctors that will consume these explanations. This paper presents a study asking medical professionals about their opinion of current state-of-the-art explainable artificial intelligence methods when applied to a gastrointestinal disease detection use case. We compare two different categories of explanation methods, intrinsic and extrinsic, and gauge their opinion of the current value of these explanations. The results indicate that intrinsic explanations are preferred and that physicians see value in the explanations. Based on the feedback collected in our study, future explanations of medical deep neural networks can be tailored to the needs and expectations of doctors. The price of carbon emission rights in the market fluctuates greatly due to various factors from economy, finance, and climate. For an enterprise that needs to conduct carbon trading activities, it is extremely necessary to fully grasp the price of carbon trading in the future period. Thus in this paper, a deep neural network-based assistive decision model for financial risk prediction in carbon trading market is proposed for this purpose. Specifically, the dynamic risk spillover effects of domestic and international carbon trading markets are studied, and a frontier time-varying model is utilized to measure the risk spillover effects. Then, the deep neural network is used for quantitative research and to construct an intelligent decision scheme that outputs financial risk prediction results. Four perspectives, energy price, climate environment, carbon market price, and macroeconomics, are selected as the input to analyze the influence factors of carbon emission rights price. Finally, several linear regression models are adopted as the baseline methods for comparison, and experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve better prediction performance compared with baseline methods. Several hardware Trojan (HT) detection techniques are available today to ensure the security of hardware systems. However, the existing pre-silicon HT detection techniques have problems such as difficulties in capturing HT path features and poor applicability. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a gate-level HT detection scheme based on a deep learning model. We parse the circuit gate-level netlist and develop an algorithm to extract circuit path sentences based on the signal propagation rule. Path sentences consisting of gate names are extracted as experimental datasets. We apply the theory of natural language processing (NLP) to the task of HT detection and use three neural networks to filter the length of path sentences. Then, based on the deep learning model text convolutional neural network (TextCNN), we propose PS-TextCNN for HT detection. Our approach is verified on seven benchmark circuits of the RS232-series and eight benchmark circuits of the s-series. We achieve an average true positive rate (TPR) of 88.9%. The TPR of the RS232-series reaches a high score of 99.5%. The TPR of the s-series is 79.5%, which is significantly higher than that of the existing gate-level HT detection techniques. Designing implants for large and complex cranial defects is a challenging task, even for professional designers. Current efforts on automating the design process focused mainly on convolutional neural networks (CNN), which have produced state-of-the-art results on reconstructing synthetic defects. However, existing CNN-based methods have been difficult to translate to clinical practice in cranioplasty, as their performance on large and complex cranial defects remains unsatisfactory. In this paper, we present a statistical shape model (SSM) built directly on the segmentation masks of the skulls represented as binary voxel occupancy grids and evaluate it on several cranial implant design datasets. Results show that, while CNN-based approaches outperform the SSM on synthetic defects, they are inferior to SSM when it comes to large, complex and real-world defects. Experienced neurosurgeons evaluate the implants generated by the SSM to be feasible for clinical use after minor manual corrections. Featured Application: The Deep Neural Network model employed in this work will help build a system for the pre-diagnosis of retinopathies that can lead to blindness. The main intention of this type of system is to support the work performed by ophthalmology specialists. Computer-based pre-diagnosis of diseases through medical imaging is a task worked on for many years. The so-called fundus images stand out since they do not have uniform illumination and are highly sensitive to noise. One of the diseases that can be pre-diagnosed through fundus images is age-related macular degeneration, which initially manifests as the appearance of lesions called drusen. Several ways of pre-diagnosing macular degeneration have been proposed, methods based entirely on the segmentation of drusen with prior image processing have been designed and applied, and methods based on image pre-processing and subsequent conversion to feature vectors, or patterns, to be classified by a Machine-Learning model have also been developed. Finally, in recent years, the use of Deep-Learning models, particularly Convolutional Networks, has been proposed and used in classification problems where the data are only images. The latter has allowed the so-called transfer learning, which consists of using the learning achieved in the solution of one problem to solve another. In this paper, we propose the use of transfer learning through the Xception Deep Convolutional Neural Network to detect age-related macular degeneration in fundus images. The performance of the Xception model was compared against six other state-of-the-art models with a dataset created from images available in public and private datasets, which were divided into training/validation and test; with the training/validation set, the training was made using 10-fold cross-validation. The results show that the Xception neural network obtained a validation accuracy that surpasses other models, such as the VGG-16 or VGG-19 networks, and had an accuracy higher than 80% in the test set. We consider that the contributions of this work include the use of a Convolutional Neural Network model for the detection of age-related macular degeneration through the classification of fundus images in those affected by AMD (drusen) and the images of healthy patients. The performance of this model is compared against other methods featured in the state-of-the-art approaches, and the best model is tested on a test set outside the training and validation set.
