The article reviews the exhibition "Beatrix Potter in America," at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, Massachusetts. After more than 100 years, British author Beatrix Potter still attracts new readers. A Beatrix Potter Society was founded in 1980 to promote the study of her life and work. This year the society is holding its 25th annual conference in conjunction with a Potter show. The museum was founded by illustrator Eric Carle. The show presents original artwork and other Potter ephemera from American collections. Potter's work was strongly influenced by American illustrator Joel Chandler Harris.
