Third harmonic generation of ultra-short femtosecond laser pulse (up to duration of 5 fs) in argon has been analysed numerically. The influences of gas ionization and dispersion effects up to the third order on change of the efficiency conversion of the nonlinear optical process have been investigated. The role of chirped incident pulse and its transform limited form on forming the harmonic has been discussed. Determination of high efficient regimes of the harmonic in the presence of ionization and high order dispersions has been discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
