The purpose of this study is to provide a discussion ground that can answer the question, “as a contemporary theme in transformation of space perception, what is the meaning of architecture in the art of the 2000s”. As the scope, works of leading figures of 2000s art were examined through literature review and it was aimed to obtain an original concept set by evaluating them in the context of art-space relationship. The methodology is divided into three sections. The first section is literature research which is based on the determination of the theory about the artworks. The second section is based on the demonstrations of the relationships between the spatial themes through “knowledge discovery in databases”. In the third section, the groups are emphasized through “relative frequencies of the spatial themes”. Accordingly, when the artworks are evaluated in terms of spatial features, it is seen that narratives are related with war, peace, anarchy, individuality, imprisonment, separation, loneliness, uncanny, anxiety, curiosity, desire, lethargy, memory, boredom, consumer culture, ambiguity, habit, conflict and revel. As a result, the image of space occurs while being positioned together with interior and exterior, official and informal, ordinary and extraordinary, dramatic and analytical where dualities formed by contrasts are dissolved.

While we humans exist in space through our bodies, we experience it via all our senses and build up an integrated knowledge of the world in our memories. However, children’s conception of the world differs from adults due to their developmental stages. This study aims to examine human-space interaction with a new approach to reveal the effects of sensory stimuli on children's perception and memory of space. The case study was conducted in a theme park that offers various sensory stimuli with particularly designed spaces and activities. For the behavioral data, the spatial preferences of the participants (33 children, age 10) were recorded during the tour, and for the memory data participants were asked to draw pictures (cognitive maps) afterwards. The data sets were redefined by the main sensory stimuli offered by the spatial units (spatial data), and the number of stimulus experiences and the number of stimulus recalls were analyzed comparatively. Contrary to popular belief, the results show that (1) all of the senses take part in perception depending on the existing stimuli in the space, vision does not have any precedence; (2) the functioning of the senses during an experience changes depending on how much stimulus they are exposed to and how much the body participates in the perception process; (3) kinesthetic stimuli come to the fore as the best stored stimuli in memory, whereas the taste stimuli remain in the background as the least remembered ones. The case study group was limited, the subjective aspects of perception, and the age and gender differences that may exist are ignored. With the inclusion of age and gender factors precisely, this methodology could reveal promising alternatives for design methods and guide the production of all types of architectural spaces, including the children's spaces. This study proposes an original perspective that regards both the physical and social components of the space as the source of perception; and it attempts to make up for a deficiency by regarding the children who are mostly neglected in other studies, yet are active users of the space.

As a research topic of several disciplines such as psychology, sociology, and especially architecture, wayfinding is always on the agenda and is open to research. In this paper, the relationships between the wayfinding decisions of the users in hospitals and the layout of the hospitals were examined on inexperienced users. Hospitals, which are places where people frequently visit and compete over time to gain their health during their visits, are public spaces with the highest circulation of users during the day. For this reason, hospitals were preferred as research areas. Factors affecting the spatial perception of the users during wayfinding were tested in the real space scene. The relationship between wayfinding decisions of users and the layout of the hospital was analyzed by VGA over GoPro camera according to the selected routes. The wayfinding behavior analysis of the users was conducted with the GoPro camera. In addition, the VGA of the plans consisting of routes was performed with Depthmap software. Finally, the numerical data obtained from both analyzes were interpreted using the SPSS 24 statistical package and appropriate digital analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was revealed that the layout of a hospital is effective in the wayfinding decisions of the users due to several spatial variables, and the layout and the wayfinding behavior are closely related.

In its current digital, pictorial and viral ubiquity, architecture no longer has to be bodily present, but has a mediating role. As a medial hinge it folds different disciplines of media and art onto the realm of the everyday. Here, the idea of architectonics can be understood as the architectural implications of computer games in a broader sense to address the matter of architecture in game worlds as well as the architecture of computer games themselves. This anthology bundles transdisciplinary approaches around the topics of space, architecture, perception of and worldbuilding in computer games and their media-specific properties. The aim is to show how and under which aspects digital game worlds are constituted.

This paper is devoted to the process of shaping of urban pedestrian public spaces in new revitalised urban structures of European cities in the early 21st century upon the example of a new revitalised centre of Bjørvika Barcode in Oslo. New public spaces emerge, creating a new spatial context. The paper also focuses on some aspects of the creation of space, particularly from the perspective of pedestrian users of the ‘ground floor’ of these spaces and the perception thereof connected with – without limitations – composition and aesthetics of architecture, and its relation towards the surrounding area and nature. Creation of urban spaces has a significant effect on the process of shaping of the surrounding synergic architecture and synergic urban pedestrian public spaces, as well as creates a new spatial identity of the place and its architecture.

Franchising system; is a kind of business relationship that is formed by the same name and be using for many times by repeating a product or service by adhering to all the principles, conditions and secrets of the person who reached success whom discovered or developed it. This system is based upon the economic relationship between Franchisor (who gives franchise) and Frannchisse (who takes the franchise rights). Franchise system has been developed by rising of intercity passenger transpOrtation at our country in 60’s; keeps economic relations alive in many different markets such as textile, food and health nowadays. According to changes in suply and demand relationship between main needs of human beings and the consuming of food and beverage action have lead the transformations in the food sector. In bakeries; firstly used to sell bread which is the main food item for the flow of human history, they have started to sell cake in time by time which is provided bakery-patisserie statute. Today it has transformed from bakery-patisserie venues to bakery-cafe stores with the increase in coffee culture. The design of bakery-cafe places which includes both these 3 cultures, has gained more impOrtance by the increase of Franchising system. The design of Bakery-Cafe places; has been examined in the context of interior venue design by the analysis of ‘Nistorescu and Barbu‘, ‘Berman and Evans‘, ‘Philip Kotler’. Common design criteria has been determined which are exist in these models. In this study, the effects of Franchising systemed bakery-cafe designs on the user's perception of place were investigated in the field researches. A questionnaire study has conducted with the users of the Franchising systemed bakery-cafe brand within the scope of the field study. Within this questionnaire the criterias which are determined in the analyze process in context of design and bakery-cafe place speciality, the effects of different places with Franchise systemed on the user’s perception of space were evaluated. As conclusion of study, it has determined that the usage of the Franchise Systemed Bakery-Cafe venues, user profile and socioeconomic level, depending on the environmental factors, and Franchising system Bakery-Cafe designs affected the consumer's perception of consumption such as price and product quality. FRANCHISING SİSTEMİ, FIRIN-KAFE MEKANLARI VE TARİHSEL GELİŞİMİ -- MEKAN KAVRAMI, MEKAN TASARIMI VE ALGISI -- FRANCHISING SİSTEMLİ FIRIN-KAFE TASARIMININ KULLANICININ MEKAN ALGISINA ETKİSİNİN ARAŞTIRILMASI: ALAN ÇALIŞMASI

This study intends to consider human behaviors in interior spaces and the possible effect digital gadgets might have on such behaviors. Human behavior in interior spaces is not a new area of study. Various researchers in the field of human behavior such as Irwin Altman and Edward T. Hall assert that humans generally exhibit certain behaviors in interior environments. These behaviors have been identified as follows: territoriality, privacy, crowding, personal space and personalization of space. These behaviors are exhibited by people as a means of a means of regulating interactions with others and also as a way of exercising conrol over what they feel belongs to them. Digital technology is a phenomenon of this present era which has permeated virtually all aspects of human life. Computers and cell phones are popular forms of this type of technology and their importance has arisen over the years due to the fact that they are able to transmit voices and information at record speeds. These new media technologies have been so inserted into man’s daily existence that they have become an intricate part of human existence today (Church et al, 2010). The use of cell phones and computers is causing great changes in many aspects of human life today. This effect is seen in reduced social relationships between people and even between people and the environment. It is not uncommon to see young people so engrossed in their cell phones that they become oblivious to what is happening around them. This clearly suggests that digital technology is gradually occupying the larger part of the average young person’s life, time and is affecting their relationships with other people and even with their immediate environment. The aim of this research is to examine if digital communication gadgets are having any effect on human relationships with and in spatial environments. Specific attention is given to perception of space, personalization of space and privacy. The Nigerian students of Eastern Mediterranean University who reside in dormitories on campus are used for case study. Data is obtained using three methods: surveys (questionnaires), interviews and personal observations and subsequently analyzed and evaluated with descriptive statistics and qualitative description. This study has various implications for society and these are discussed at the conclusion of the thesis. Several recommendations for further study have also been proffered. Keywords: Spatial Environments, Space Personalization, Perception of Space, Privacy, Digital Communication Technology ÖZ: Bu çalışma, iç mekanlarda insan davranışlarını ve dijital araçların bu davranışların üstündeki olası etkilerini araştırmaya hedefler.
