Background: The hypothalamus has been recognized as a core structure in the sleep-wake cycle. However, whether the neuroplasticity of the hypothalamus is involved in the acupuncture treatment of insomnia remains elusive. Methods: We recruited 42 patients with chronic insomnia disorder (CID) and 23 matched healthy controls (HCs), with CID patients randomly assigned to receive real acupuncture (RA) or sham acupuncture (SA) for four weeks. Insomnia severity was evaluated using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score, and the resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) of the hypothalamus was assessed via functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Results: In the cross-sectional investigation, CID patients showed increased rsFC between the medial hypothalamus (MH) and left lateral orbital frontal cortex (LOFC), and bilateral medial orbital frontal cortex (MOFC) compared to HCs. In the longitudinal experiment, PSQI scores significantly decreased in the RA group (p = 0.03) but not in the SA group. Interestingly, the increased MH-LOFC connectivity was found to be reduced following RA treatment. In addition, the altered rsFC of MH-LOFC significantly correlated with clinical improvement in the RA group (r = -0.692, p = 0.006). Conclusion: This randomized neuroimaging study provides preliminary evidence that acupuncture may improve insomnia symptoms by restoring circuits associated with hypothalamic subregions. Purpose/Objective: To propose a predictive model for caregivers' psychological distress (including anxiety, depression, and cognitive overload) based on different data gathered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients (cognitive level, psychological distress, type of ALS, and sex). Research Method/Design: A cross-sectional study with a sample of 51 ALS patients and their respective main carers. Various instruments were used such as the Beck Anxiety Inventory, ALS Depression Inventory-12, and the Edinburgh Cognitive and Behavioral ALS Screen, Zarit Burden Interview, Self-Rating Depression Scale, and Self-Rating Anxiety Scale for caregivers. Results: ALS type, sex, and cognition were predictive variables for caregiver distress, with the main explanatory variable being the distress of the patients themselves. Spinal ALS led to higher psychological distress in caregivers (β =.38), as did male patients with ALS and preserved cognition. Conclusions/Implications: The proposed confirmatory model demonstrates that patients' psychological distress is the best predictor of psychological distress in their caregivers. Impact and Implications: There is a direct relationship between the symptomatology of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients and the psychological distress of their caregivers. The type of ALS, gender, or cognitive function of ALS patients may determine the psychological distress of their caregivers. This study aimed to investigate the effect of traditional Chinese emotional nursing combined with lung rehabilitation training and oral nutrition preparation on improving the nutritional status and lung function of elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The control group received conventional Western medicine and lung rehabilitation training, while the observation group received traditional Chinese emotional nursing combined with oral nutrition preparation. After nursing, the self-rating depression scale and self-rating anxiety scale scores in the observwere lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05), whereas forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume in 1 s, and 6-min walk distance were higher (P < 0.05). Serum albumin, prealbumin, transferrin, immunoglobulin A, immunoglobulin G, and immunoglobulin M levels were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). After nursing, the scores for physical, material, social, and psychological functions in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). In conclusion, traditional Chinese emotional nursing combined with lung rehabilitation training and oral nutrition preparation can relieve negative emotions, promote pulmonary function and nutritional status, and improve the quality of life of elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Objective: To explore the effect of Balint Group in improving stress, negative mood and empathy of psychiatric nurses. Method: In March 2022-March 2023, 150 psychiatric nurses from four hospitals in Lanzhou were selected for the study, randomly grouped into experimental group and control groups (75 per group), the experimental group participated the Balint Group activities biweekly, the control group only attended mental health knowledge lectures. Job stress, negative emotion and empathy of the two groups before and after the intervention were evaluated and compared by using job stressor Scale, coping style Assessment Scale, self-assessment scale for depression, self-assessment Scale for anxiety and Jefferson Empathy Scale. Results: After intervention, the job stressor scale and coping style evaluation of nurses in the two groups were significantly decreased, and the experimental group was lower than the control group (P < 0.05). The depression and anxiety of nurses in the two groups were significantly improved, and the experimental group was better than the control group (P < 0.05). The differences in the total score and dimensions of Jefferson Empathy scale in the experimental group after intervention were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). Introduction: Center‐based rehabilitation is limited by COVID‐19 infectivity and social distancing policy. We hypothesized that discharged patients benefit from 8‐week home‐based tele‐rehabilitation (tele‐PR) using mobile phones and low‐cost instruments. Methods: The TERCOV (Tele‐rehabilitation in COVID‐19 survivors) is an investigator‐initiated, prospective, multi‐center, real‐world study. After proper assessment, 186 discharge patients received tele‐PR by smartphone, including breathing exercise, respiratory muscle training, aerobic exercise, and resistance training. Physicians, physiotherapists, and nurses provided guidance through smartphone applications. The primary outcome was six‐minute walk distance (6MWD). The secondary outcomes included hand grip, short physical performance battery, maximal inspiratory pressure, maximal expiratory pressure, self‐rating anxiety/depression scale (SAS/SDS), 36‐item short‐form health survey (SF‐36) and international physical activity questionnaire. Results: Dyspnea subgroups were more functionally impaired. After tele‐PR, improvements were observed in exercise capacity(∆6MWD: 16.80 m, 95% CI 1.18–32.42, p < 0.0001), limb muscle function (∆SPPB 0.25 points, 95% CI 0.05–0.46), respiratory muscle strength (∆MIP 16.50 cm H2O, 95% CI 9.22–23.78, p < 0.0001; ∆MEP: 12.09 cm H2O, 95% CI 3.48–20.70, p = 0.0002), health‐related quality of life (∆SF‐36 49.85, 95% CI: 21.01–78.69, p < 0.0001), physical activity(∆HEPA 13.01%, p = 0.0029). Anxiety reduced in patients with mMRC ≥ 2 (∆SAS = −4.19 points, CI −8.16 to −0.22, p = 0.03). Greater change was seen in dyspnea patients. Purpose: Our study aimed to explore the efficacy of Bifidobacterium breve 207-1 on specific neurotransmitters and hormones and the ability to regulate lifestyle behaviors in healthy adults. Methods: In total, 120 healthy adults with high mental stress, overweight, insomnia, and constipation were randomly assigned to receive low-dose B. breve 207-1 (LD, n = 40), high-dose B. breve 207-1 (HD, n = 40), or placebo (n = 40) for 28 days. Fecal and blood samples were collected and questionnaires were answered before and after the trial. Neurotransmitters and serum hormones were detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The gut microbiota composition was assessed using 16 S rRNA sequencing. Short–chain fatty acids (SCFAs) concentrations were determined via gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Results: The primary outcome of our study was changes in mental wellness, including neurotransmitters, the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrena (HPA) axis hormones, and the psychological scales. The results showed that γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) increased significantly and the HPA axis hormones were suppressed overall in the probiotic groups while 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) did not change significantly. However, there was no significant change in mood scale scores. The secondary outcome focused on the ability of 207-1 to regulate the body and lifestyle of healthy adults (e.g., sleep, diet, exercise, etc.). The PSQI scores in the probiotics groups significantly decreased, indicating improved sleep quality. Meanwhile, the probiotic groups had a slight increase in exercise consumption while dietary intake stabilized. By physical examination, the participants showed weight loss although no statistically significant difference was observed between the groups. Then, validated by gut microbiota, changes in the gut microbiota were observed under the effective intervention of 207-1 while short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) increased in the LD group, particularly acetic and propionic acids. There was a slight decrease in alpha–diversity in the HD group. Conclusion: Bifidobacterium breve 207-1 entered the organism and affected neurotransmitter and the HPA axis hormone levels via the microbiome-gut-brain axis. Meanwhile, 207-1 supplementation improved daily lifestyle behaviors in healthy adults, which may in turn lead to changes in their bodies (e.g. weight and lipid metabolism). However, this study did not find significant mood-modulating efficacy. The mechanism of the overall study is unclear, but we hypothesize that SCFAs may be the key pathway, and more experiments are needed for validation in the future. Background: This study aimed to determine the postoperative intestinal functioning, quality of life (QoL), and psychological well-being of patients treated either with organ-preserving surgery (OPS) or organ-resection surgery (ORS) for high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (HIN) or T1 colorectal cancer (CRC). Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at a single tertiary care center. In total, 175 eligible individuals with T1 CRC or HIN were divided into the OPS (n = 103) or ORS (n = 72) group based on whether the relevant segment of the intestine was preserved or resected. Intestinal function was evaluated using low anterior resection syndrome (LARS) scores. QoL was evaluated using the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC-QLQ)-C30 and EORTC-QLQ-CR29. Psychological status was evaluated using the Fear of Progression Questionnaire-Short Form and the Self-rating Anxiety and Depression scales. Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to minimize the influence of potential confounders. Results: Overall, 130 of 175 patients (74.29%) responded to the questionnaires; 56 and 74 were in the ORS and OPS groups, respectively. Thirty-five patient pairs were successfully matched through PSM. The mild and severe LARS rates were significantly higher in the ORS group than in the OPS group (P < 0.001). The EORTC-QLQ-C30 and EORTC-QLQ-CR29 scores revealed significantly better physical, role, and emotional functioning and an overall improved state of health (with multiple reduced symptom scores) in the OPS group than in the ORS group (P < 0.05). Significantly more patients were depressed in the ORS group than in the OPS group (P = 0.034), whereas anxiety or fear of disease progression did not differ significantly between the groups. Conclusions: OPS for the treatment of HIN or T1 CRC was found to be more advantageous for patients in terms of improved intestinal function, QoL, and psychological status than was ORS. Objective: To understand whether TSH suppressive therapy affect short‐term postoperative cancer‐related depression and anxiety among DTC patients. To evaluate short‐term postoperative psychological problems and its relationship with baseline parameters, fatigue, sleep quality, illness perception, and patients' quality of life. Study Design and Methods: This was a prospective, observational, single center study. This study involved 831 TC patients who consecutively admitted to the inpatient department of hospital between 1st June 2020 and 31th February 2021. Results: Mean scores of the self‐rated anxiety scale (SAS) (49.04 vs. 40.69) and self‐rated depression scale (SDS) (44.61 vs. 39.86), as well as the incidence of anxiety (41.5% vs. 22.1%) and depression (22.5% vs. 2.4%) significantly decreased 3 months after surgery. For personal and clinical characteristics, low educational background (SAS, β = 1.392; SDS, β = 1.622; and p < 0.05), without children (SAS, β = 4.068; SDS, β = 1.873, and p < 0.01), FNAC (SAS, β = −0.981; SDS, β = −2.583; and p < 0.05), and multifocal tumor (SAS, β = −1.287; SDS, β = −2.681; and p < 0.05) were the main effects for both short‐term postoperative anxiety and depression. Multiple linear regression analysis identified the serum TSH level as a significant variable associated with worse SAS (Beta = −0.695 and p = 0.043) and SDS (Beta = −3.133 and p < 0.001) scores 3 months after surgery. FT4 was independently associated with SAS scores (Beta = −0.202 and p < 0.001). Patients with middle ATA risk had a significantly higher level of SDS scores (p = 0.033). Conclusion: We confirmed that cancer‐related anxiety and depression among DTC patients significantly alleviated 3 months after surgery. TSH suppression therapy has profound effects on cancer‐related anxiety and depression, and the degree of anxiety and depression significantly deteriorated with the decrease of TSH level. Aims: This study describes the incidence of fatigue in kidney transplant recipients and analyses the relationship between physiological factors, psychological factors, situational factors and fatigue in kidney transplant recipients. Background: Fatigue, as a common symptom after kidney transplantation, is affected by many factors, but the influence of some factors on the fatigue of kidney transplant recipients is still controversial. Design: This cross‐sectional study was designed based on the theory of unpleasant symptoms. Methods: Our survey involved 307 participants attending the kidney transplant outpatient clinic of a tertiary Class A hospital (Changsha, Hunan, China). Data were collected between February and April 2021 using a structured questionnaire and electronic medical records. Data were analysed using IBM SPSS 25.0 (SPSS Inc.) Results: It was found that the incidence of fatigue in kidney transplant recipients was 53.1%. According to the binary logistic regression analysis, sleep quality, hypokalemia, anxiety, depression and education level were independent risk factors for fatigue in kidney transplant recipients. Conclusion: The incidence of fatigue in kidney transplant recipients was high and was influenced by physical, psychological and situational factors. Clinical nurses should assess fatigue levels in a timely and multidimensional manner in clinical practice and provide effective and scientific guidance about fatigue self‐coping and symptom management for kidney transplant recipients. Fatigue is a common symptom of kidney transplant recipients and can impair postoperative recovery, reemployment, quality of life, social activities and physical and mental states, causing the body to be in a state of chronic energy consumption.Owing to the imperceptible physical injury upon kidney transplant recipients, fatigue is often underappreciated or even disregarded. It was found that the rate of fatigue in kidney transplant recipients was high.The risk factors for fatigue in kidney transplant recipients based on the theory of unpleasant symptoms were analysed in three ways: physiological, psychological and situational. The results showed that sleep quality, duration after transplantation, serum potassium level, anxiety, depression, education level, financial burden and social support were associated with fatigue in kidney transplant recipients. The implications of this paper: Clinical nurses should conduct timely and multidimensional fatigue evaluations of kidney transplant recipients and pay more attention to those with a high level of fatigue.The findings can provide a scientific basis for kidney transplant specialist nurses to conduct targeted interventions and facilitate fatigue management for kidney transplant recipients. Purpose: This study explored potential categories of dyadic disease appraisal differences among patients hospitalized with chronic heart failure (CHF) in China and analyzed the main factors influencing these categories. Methods: A survey was conducted using various tools and scales, including the Chinese version of the Memorial Heart Failure Symptom Appraisal Scale, Heart failure self-care index scale, Social Support Rating Scale, Zarit burden interview, and Self-rating anxiety scale. The data was collected from patients who were hospitalized with CHF in the cardiology department of one of two tertiary hospitals in Nanchong City, China. The dyadic disease appraisal categories were identified using latent profile analysis (LPA). Multiple logistic regression analysis was also employed to analyze the factors influencing the formation of potential categories of differences in dyadic disease appraisal in CHF patients. Results: A total of 262 pairs of hospitalized CHF patients and their caregivers participated in this study. The dyadic disease appraisal of CHF patients was potentially categorized as the "negative difference group" (28 individuals, 10.7%) and the "positive or convergence group" (234 persons, 89.3%). The results showed that the factors influencing the categorization of dyadic disease appraisal differences included the patient's social support, disease progression, and Caregivers anxiety level, burden, gender, educational attainment, and age (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The study findings demonstrated heterogeneity between the two groups of CHF patients in the dyadic disease appraisal. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on patients who have a brief duration of illness and limited social support. Specifically, it is important to prioritize support for female caregivers who are 65 years or older, have lower levels of educational attainment, and experience a significant burden and anxiety. Regular implementation of support person-bilateral co-management strategies can effectively reduce differences in how the disease is perceived and enhance the overall well-being of both caregivers and patients. To evaluate the psychometric properties of the Union Physio-Psycho-Social Assessment Questionnaire (UPPSAQ-70) among general hospital psychiatric outpatients. A total of 2000 participants responded to the survey. Factor analyses were used to test the construct validity of the scale. Convergent validity was evaluated by the correlation between UPPSAQ-70 and symptoms measured using the Chinese versions of Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), Patient Health Questionnaire-15 (PHQ-15), Somatic Symptom Disorder - B Criteria Scale (SSD-12) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The nine-factor model was supported (χ 2 = 8816.395, df = 2309, χ 2/ df = 3.818, RMSEA = 0.053, CFI = 0.929). The UPPSAQ-70 showed significant correlation with the SAS (r = 0.396, P <.001), SDS (r = 0.451, P <.001), PHQ-15 (r = 0.381, P <.001), SSD-12 (r = 0.324, P <.001) and PSQI (r = 0.220, P <.001). UPPSAQ-70 and its subscales showed good internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha coefficients ranging from 0.79 to 0.96. The UPPSAQ-70 was a rating scale with good construct validity and reliability, which can measure overall health in the biological, psychological, and social domains for Chinese psychiatric outpatients, but its convergent validity still requires further empirical research. Objective: To investigate the therapeutic utility of psychological nursing interventions for prostatic hyperplasia clients while they are receiving therapy. Methods: Clinical data of 110 patients with prostate group hyperplasia who underwent treatment in our hospital were collected and analysed retrospectively, and the selected period was from October 2021 to October 2023. The 110 cases of prostate group hyperplasia patients were divided into a research group and a control group according to the different methods of care, and each group had 55 cases each. The research group received psychological nursing intervention based on the conventional nursing care given to the control group. The total treatment compliance rate and contentment with nursing were contrasted between the research and control groups, and changes in the Self Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) score, Self Rating Depression Scale (SDS) score, Health Survey Short Form score, and sleep problems were observed between the research group and the control group. Results: The research group's overall compliance rate was 94.55% (52/53), a substantial increase over the control group's rate, 69.09% (38/55), P < 0.01. Following nursing, the research group's SAS and SDS scores were considerably more reduced than those of the control group, and both groups' scores were substantially lower than they were prior to nursing (P < 0.05). Conclusion: This retrospective study found that psychological nursing intervention applied to patients with prostatic hyperplasia can effectively improve the patient's compliance with treatment, effectively reduce the occurrence of negative emotions, improve the patient's quality of life, and improve sleep problems. Background: Keratinocyte carcinoma (KC) is a common malignancy characterized by a high recurrence rate and considerable psychological distress. The incidence of KC is increasing in China, raising concerns about its psychological consequences and adverse effects on quality of life. Demographic and clinical factors are thought to influence mental health outcomes in these patients. Nonetheless, data on the prevalence of anxiety in Chinese patients with KC and the factors associated with this anxiety are notably lacking. Therefore, a comprehensive investigation into the anxiety of patients with KC is imperative. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of anxiety in patients with KC, a disease that can significantly affect a patient's appearance and overall quality of life. Understanding the level of anxiety in this population is critical to developing targeted interventions, improving treatment outcomes, supporting mental health, and improving patient care practices. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at China's largest dermatology hospital from November 2017 to September 2022. A consecutive sampling method was used to recruit participants. Anxiety status was surveyed by the Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS). Explanatory variables were surveyed by demographic data questionnaires. Non-parametric test and Chi-square test analyses were used to compare the differences between groups. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to identify factors associated with anxiety. Results: A total of 192 patients with KC were included. The median score of SAS was 35 (IQR 16.25). The prevalence of anxiety in patients with KC was 20.8%. Females (p = 0.008), under 60 years old (p = 0.011), living in rural (p = 0.010) or urban areas (p = 0.029), having fewer than three children (p = 0.016), with a history of skin diseases (p < 0.001), with a history of long-term oral medication (p = 0.001), and experiencing pain or itching (p = 0.001) had SAS scores that were significantly higher than their counterparts. Conclusion: This study showed that the prevalence of anxiety was very high among Chinese patients with KC, especially among women, young patients, rural residents, patients with fewer than three children, and individuals with a history of skin disease, long-term oral medications, or symptoms of pain or itching. Introduction and objectives: Kidney transplantation is an effective treatment for end-stage kidney disease. Kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) are prone to experiencing reduced physical function, depression, fatigue, and lack of exercise motivation due to their sedentary lifestyle before surgery. Exercise is an effective intervention for KTRs, but it has not been properly implemented in many practice settings. This project aimed to promote evidence-based exercises as part of KTRs' rehabilitation to improve their health outcomes. Methods: This project was informed by the JBI Evidence Implementation Framework. The project was conducted in the organ transplant ward of a tertiary comprehensive hospital in Changsha, China. Based on a summary of best evidence, 12 audit criteria were developed for the baseline and follow-up audits involving 30 patients and 20 nursing staff. The JBI Practical Application of Clinical Evidence System (PACES) and Getting Research into Practice (GRiP) tool were used to identify barriers and facilitators and develop targeted strategies to improve issues. Results: Compared with the baseline audit, significant improvements were achieved in most of the criteria in the follow-up audit, with 9 of the 12 criteria reaching 100% compliance. Notably, the 6-minute walk distance test results were significantly higher, while the Self-Rating Depression Scale and Self-Rating Anxiety Scale scores were significantly lower (p < 0.05). Conclusions: This project demonstrates that evidence-based practice can improve the clinical practice of rehabilitation exercises for KTRs. The GRiP strategies proved to be extremely useful, notably, the formulation of a standardized rehabilitation exercise protocol, training, and enhancement of the exercising environment. Background: This cross-sectional study aimed to assess the correlation between subjective oral health status and mental health in a group of university students in Serbia. Methods: The study included 948 students, aged between 18 and 27, from the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Kragujevac, Serbia, and was conducted in 2020. The World Health Organization's Oral Health Questionnaire for Adults was utilized to evaluate the respondents' self-perceived oral health and oral hygiene practices. The existence of depressive symptoms was evaluated using the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II), and the Zung self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) was used for determining anxiety symptoms. Results: It is observed that 28.9% of respondents exhibit symptoms of depression and 42.3% showed symptoms of anxiety. Results show that students with severe depression and anxiety symptoms very often reported lower self-perceived oral health and oral health problems. Although the nature of this relationship has not been thoroughly evaluated, several studies have shown a mutually dependent connection between oral health and mental health. Conclusions: The results suggest that some aspects of oral health are associated with higher risks of developing symptoms of depression or anxiety, and vice versa. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: This study aims to assess the clinical effectiveness of combining mindfulness‐based stress reduction (MBSR) with exercise intervention in improving anxiety, depression, sleep quality and mood regulation in patients with non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: A total of 60 patients with NSCLC who had not received surgical treatment were selected using convenience sampling and divided into an intervention group and control group, with 30 patients in each group. The control group received conventional psychological nursing care, whereas the intervention group received a combination of MBwSR and exercise therapy. Before the intervention, a questionnaire was completed to collect the basic data of the two groups. Further questionnaires were administered at 6 and 8 weeks after treatment to assess anxiety, depression, sleep quality and other items included in the five‐item Brief Symptom Rating Scale (BSRS‐5). Results: No significant differences between the intervention and control groups were identified in terms of personal and clinical characteristics (p > 0.05). No significant differences were determined in the BSRS‐5, Self‐Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self‐Rating Depression Scale (SDS) or Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores between the intervention and control groups before the intervention. However, 6 and 8 weeks after the intervention, scores were significantly lower in both groups (p < 0.001). Significant differences in the BSRS‐5, SAS, SDS and PSQI scores were identified between the two groups at different time points (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The combination of MBSR and exercise intervention demonstrated improvements in anxiety, depression, sleep quality and BSRS‐5 scores in patients with NSCLC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: The purpose of this research was to assess the effect of telehealth management via WeChat on improving the quality of life of patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods: In this study, we retrospectively collected the clinical data of 118 patients who underwent PCI and received remote health management from our hospital via WeChat from June 2021 to September 2021 (WeChat group). The clinical data of 114 patients who underwent PCI but did not receive remote health management from our hospital from September 2020 to December 2020 were also collected (conventional group). Anxiety, depression, and quality of life scale scores were compared between the 2 groups at 6 months postdischarge. Results: Six months postdischarge, patients in the WeChat group had significantly lower Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) (55.7 ± 7.2 vs 58.8 ± 6.4, P = .001) and Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) (56.0 ± 5.9 vs 58.2 ± 6.2, P = .007) scores than did those in the conventional group. Compared to those in the conventional group, the patients in the WeChat group had significantly greater 6 months post-discharge The World Health Organization Quality of Life - BREF scores in the following domains: physical (14.3 ± 1.7 vs 13.1 ± 1.7, P < .001 psychological (15.2 ± 1.3 vs 13.5 ± 1.5, P < .001 social relationship (12.9 ± 1.7 vs 12.3 ± 1.8, P = .01) and environmental (12.7 ± 2.0 vs 12.0 ± 1.9, P = .006). Conclusion: The use of WeChat to carry out remote health management for patients who underwent PCI can be an effective way to provide high-quality hospital medical services to patients’ families and can effectively alleviate patients’ anxiety and depression and enhance their quality of life. Aims: The objective of this study is to explore the various latent categories within the sleep quality of night shift nurses and to investigate whether shift‐related factors predispose nurses to higher levels of occupational stress and anxiety. Design: This is a cross‐sectional study. Methods: From November to December 2020, registered nurses from 18 tertiary hospitals and 16 secondary hospitals in Chongqing were selected through convenience sampling for this study. Latent class analysis was used to investigate the sleep quality of nurses working night shifts. Furthermore, univariate analysis and logistic multivariate analysis were utilized to identify the contributing factors to occupational stress and anxiety. Results: The four latent categories of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index for night shift nurses were identified as 'Low Sleep Disorder Group' (56.34%), 'Moderate Sleep Disorder Group' (37.27%), 'High Sleep Disorder Non‐Reliant on Sleeping medication Group' (4.89%) and 'High Sleep Disorder Reliant on Sleeping medication Group' (1.50%). The results showed that having a night‐shift frequency of 3–4 times per month, night‐shift durations of 9–12 h, sleep time delay after night shift (≥2 h), total sleep time after night shift less than 4 h were shift‐related factors that increased the levels of occupational stress and anxiety. Conclusion: The sleep quality of night shift nurses demonstrates heterogeneity and can be classified into four latent categories. Higher frequency of night shifts, extended work hours and insufficient rest time are all associated with increased levels of occupational stress and anxiety. Impact: By identifying the four latent categories of sleep quality among night shift nurses, this study sheds light on the relationship between sleep patterns and levels of occupational stress and anxiety. Corneal transplantation is the most effective treatment for visual impairment caused by corneal blindness and can improve patients' quality of vision. However, pre- and post-operative self-care is necessary to reduce the risk of complications and graft rejection. This one-group, quasi-experimental design with repeated measures aimed to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of self-care promoting programs on self-care behavior, anxiety, and clinical outcomes in individuals with corneal transplantation. Thirty participants who met the inclusion criteria were purposively recruited from a corneal excellence center in Bangkok, Thailand, from October 2021 to August 2022. The data collection instruments included the Demographic and Health Data Forms, the Self-Care Behavior Questionnaire, and the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired t-tests, and Friedman and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests. The program was found to be feasible, with all participants able to attend for 30 days postoperation. In terms of effectiveness, participants demonstrated improved self-care behavior and reduced anxiety compared to pre-program levels. Visual acuity also showed improvement 30 days postoperation, with 83.3% of participants having a clear corneal graft. These findings are significant for nursing practice, as they suggest that this program could be a promising tool for enhancing self-care behavior in individuals undergoing corneal transplantation. Nurses could potentially use this program to promote self-care behavior, alleviate anxiety, and enhance clinical outcomes. Objective: To explore the structural and functional changes in cognition-related brain regions in patients with chronic low back pain (CLBP) at earlier ages, and explore the impact of the interaction between CLBP and age on the brain. Methods: Seventy-six patients with CLBP were recruited and divided into “younger” age group (20–29  years, YA), “middle” age group (30–39  years, MA), and “older” age group (40–49  years, OA). All patients underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) as well as clinical psychological and pain-related symptoms assessments. Results: Structural analysis showed that patients in OA group had lower gray matter (GM) volumes in the orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) bilaterally and the right superior frontal gyrus (SFG) compared to YA group. The resting-state brain activity analysis showed that amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) values in the bilateral postcentral gyrus and left ventral medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) were significantly different in the OA group. The functional connectivity (FC) in the right ventral dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and the right insula was significantly decreased in the OA group compared to the YA and MA groups. Likewise, the FC in the left caudal parahippocampal gyrus (PHG) and left inferior parietal lobule (IPL) were significantly lower in the MA and OA groups compared to the YA group. In addition, both the structural properties and the FC values of these brain regions were significantly correlated with age. Conclusion: This preliminary study concludes that CLBP affects the aging process. The synergistic effects of CLBP and aging accelerate the functional and structural decline of certain areas of the brain, which not only affects pain processing, but are also may be associated with cognitive declines. Objectives: To explore latent profiles of care dependency in older stroke patients with comorbidities and to analyze the factors influencing different latent profiles. Methods: A total of 312 older ischemic stroke patients with comorbidities were included in the analysis. Latent Profile Analysis (LPA) was used to classify the participants into potential subgroups with different types of care dependency. The influencing factors of the classification of care dependency subgroups were determined using multivariate Logistic regression analysis. Results: The care dependency score of older ischemic stroke patients with comorbidities was (51.35 ± 13.19), and the patients could be classified into 3 profiles, namely Universal dependency (24.0%), Moderate activity-sociallearning dependency (28.0%), and Mild activity-social-learning dependency (48.0%); caregiver, BI at admission, and functional impairments were independent factors influencing care dependency (P < 0.05). Conclusion: There are three latent profiles of care dependency in older ischemic stroke patients with comorbidities. According to the characteristics of various populations, medical staff are able to implement specific interventions to lower the level of dependency and further improve the quality of life of patients. Objective: To investigate whether the surgical process information sharing system could alleviate the parental anxiety during a pediatric selective operation. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted one day before surgery for the enrolled participants. Family members assigned to the intervention group received real-time process information sharing through service reminders during the surgical period, while the control group received standard perioperative education. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to evaluate sleep quality during the perioperative period, and the State of Cohesion-13 Scale (SOC-13) and Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) were used to assess anxiety levels. Satisfaction levels during the perioperative period were assessed through a follow-up survey conducted one day after surgery. Results: The intervention group showed better scores in terms of PSQI, SOC-13, SAS, and postoperative satisfaction levels at various time points compared to the control group, with statistically significant differences observed (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Real-time process information sharing is effective in reducing perioperative sleep disorders and anxiety among family members of pediatric patients, as well as improving satisfaction levels. Background: The outbreak of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) in 2019 has continued until now, posing a huge threat to the public's physical and mental health, resulting in different degrees of mental health problems. As a vulnerable segment of the public, anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems among COVID-19 patients. Excessive anxiety aggravates the physical and psychological symptoms of COVID-19 patients, which is detrimental to their treatment and recovery, increases financial expenditure, affects family relations, and adds to the medical burden. Objective: This study aimed to explore the role of psychological capital and self-esteem in the relationship between insomnia and anxiety, thereby shedding light on the mechanism of the effect of insomnia on anxiety in COVID-19 patients. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from April to May 2022 in Fangcang hospital in Shanghai, China. The self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 718 COVID-19 patients via cell phone using the Internet platform "Questionnaire Star", which included Athens Insomnia Scale, Psychological Capital Questionnaire, Self-esteem Scale, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, gender, age, marital status, education. Data analysis was performed using descriptive analysis, independent-samples t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson correlation analysis, ordinary least-squares regression, and bootstrap method. Results: Education background had significant impact on anxiety in COVID-19 patients (F = 7.70, P < 0.001). Insomnia, psychological capital, self-esteem and anxiety were significantly correlated, respectively (P < 0.001). And Regression analysis showed that insomnia had a direct negative predictive effect on psychological capital (β = -0.70, P < 0.001) and self-esteem (β = -0.13, P < 0.001). Psychological capital had a direct positive predictive effect on self-esteem (β = 0.12, P < 0.001). Insomnia had a direct positive predictive effect on anxiety (β = 0.61, P < 0.001). Both psychological capital and self-esteem had significant negative predictive effects on anxiety (β = -0.06, P < 0.05; β = -0.72, P < 0.001). The results showed that the mediating effect of psychological capital and self-esteem was significant, and the mediating effect value was 0.21. First, the indirect effect consisting of insomnia - psychological capital - anxiety was 0.04, showing that psychological capital had a significant mediating effect. Second, the indirect effect consisting of insomnia-self-esteem-anxiety had a value of 0.10, indicating that self-esteem had a significant mediating effect. Third, the indirect effect consisting of insomnia-psychological capital-self-esteem-anxiety had a value of 0.06, suggesting that psychological capital and self-esteem had a significant chain mediating effect between insomnia and anxiety. Conclusions: Insomnia had a significant positive predictive effect on anxiety. Insomnia was first associated with a decrease in psychological capital, followed by a sequential decrease in self-esteem, which in turn was associated with increased anxiety symptoms in COVID-19 patients. Therefore, focusing on improving the psychological capital and self-esteem of patients can help alleviate the anxiety caused by insomnia in COVID-19 patients. It is recommended that patients and health care professionals increase the psychological capital and Self-esteem of COVID-19 patients through various methods to counter the effects of insomnia on anxiety. This study investigates the effects of comprehensive nursing interventions on wound pain in patients undergoing catheter insertion for peritoneal dialysis. Sixty patients who underwent catheter insertion for peritoneal dialysis from January 2021 to January 2023 at our hospital were selected as subjects and randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group using a random number table method. The control group received routine nursing care, while the experimental group was subjected to comprehensive nursing interventions. The study compared the impact of nursing measures on visual analogue scale (VAS), self‐rating anxiety scale (SAS), self‐rating depression scale (SDS) and nursing satisfaction between the two groups. The analysis revealed that on the third, fifth and seventh days post‐intervention, the experimental group's wound VAS scores were significantly lower than those of the control group (p < 0.001). Furthermore, levels of anxiety and depression were markedly lower in the experimental group compared with the control group (p < 0.001). In addition, the nursing satisfaction rate was significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group (96.67% vs. 73.33%, p = 0.011). This study indicates that the application of comprehensive nursing interventions in patients undergoing catheter insertion for peritoneal dialysis is highly effective. This study analyses the effects of a continuous quality improvement nursing model on wound pain at the arteriovenous fistula (AVF) puncture site in patients undergoing haemodialysis. Forty haemodialysis patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, from September 2020 to December 2022, were selected as study subjects. They were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group. The control group received conventional nursing care, while the observation group was treated with a continuous quality improvement nursing model. The study compared the impact of these nursing approaches on pain intensity post‐AVF puncture, wound visual analogue scale scores, self‐rating anxiety scale, self‐rating depression scale, quality of life scores and patient satisfaction with nursing care. In the observation group, the proportion of patients experiencing moderate to severe pain during AVF puncture was lower than that in the control group, whereas the proportion of patients with no pain or mild pain was higher (P = 0.008). After nursing, the observation group exhibited significantly lower wound visual analogue scale scores, self‐rating anxiety scale scores, and self‐rating depression scale scores compared to the control group (P < 0.001), with a significantly higher quality of life score (P < 0.05). The nursing satisfaction rate was 95.00% in the observation group, significantly higher than the 65.00% in the control group (P = 0.018). The continuous quality improvement nursing model significantly reduces wound pain at the AVF puncture site in haemodialysis patients, alleviates negative emotions, enhances the quality of life, and achieves high patient satisfaction. Sleep problems among shift workers have emerged as a public health concern in recent years. However, few validation studies of self-reported sleep quality questionnaires were performed among shift workers. The present study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Brief Version of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (B-PSQI) in a shift workers sample. In total, 443 Chinese male sailors were recruited, of whom 46.95% (n = 208) were watchstanding sailors on 18-hr working schedule at sea. All participants completed the B-PSQI, the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), the Self-Rating Depression Scale, and Self-Rating Anxiety Scale before and after a 30-day saling. Forty watchstanding sailors were selected to wear wrist actigraphy throughout the sailing. The results showed that the B-PSQI had acceptable internal consistency reliability in different sailor groups. Confirmatory factor analysis showed optimal fit of the single-factor model of the B-PSQI in different sailor groups. Furthermore, scalar invariance between watchstanding and day-working sailors was supported, as well as longitudinal scalar invariance across time. In addition, receiver operating characteristic analysis showed that the B-PSQI yields high discrimination power to detect poor sleep quality using ISI ≥ 8 criterion. However, a lack of intermethod agreement across the B-PSQI and actigraphy was found in this study. Moreover, the total scores of B-PSQI were positively related to depression and anxiety symptoms in the present sample. The B-PSQI is a reliable and valid sleep quality measure and a useful screening tool for sleep disorders among Chinese male sailors. Public Significance Statement: The findings from this study suggest that the Brief Version of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (B-PSQI) is suitable to assess sleep quality and identify poor sleepers among male sailors on non-24-hr rotating shift schedules. The B-PSQI achieved invariance across different working schedules and time, allowing valid comparisons of sleep quality between shift and nonshift workers, or before and after shift-working schedules. Objectives: This project determined current compliance with best practice recommendations for self-management in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and used a web-based intervention to implement strategies to improve the quality of self-management in discharged patients with MS. Methods: Guided by the JBI Evidence-based Model of Health care, this project applied the 7 phases of the JBI Evidence Implementation Framework to improve the quality of self-management in MS patients. Results: After implementation, compliance significantly improved across all criteria compared with the baseline audit. All patients were assessed to determine their ability to self-manage (Criterion 1). All health care providers were trained to facilitate self-management and behavioral change (Criterion 2). All patients had self-management goals and action plans that were set together by both health care providers and patients (Criteria 3, 5, 6, 7). All patients received education through online patient education courses and were given an education handbook (Criterion 4). The agreed action plan was documented (Criterion 8). All members of the multidisciplinary team coordinated the services required by the patients (Criterion 9) and provided appropriate support to help patients achieve their goals and solve problems through a WeChat group and the communication module on the self-management online platform (Criterion 10). Conclusion: This implementation project effectively promoted practice change by enhancing patients' knowledge of self-management and staff awareness of delivering self-management support to MS patients.
