The article reveals the artistry and creative techniques of Anglo-Saxon goldsmiths as demonstrated by the contents of the Stafordshire Hoard, which was discovered in 2009. Findings from the microscopic analyses of the objects are presented including the gold content of the coins and the similarity of the goldsmiths' technique to cementation process. Observations on the difference between personal ornaments recovered from graves identified as male and those from female burials are discussed.
